This week, Bartholomew County Public Library employee Rachel is participating in the Podcast Blackout. She will be reading a non-comprehensive list of names of black individuals who have died at the hands of the police in the United States since July 2014.
Following the lead of many caring podcasts, we want to emphasize how important it is to hold space for reflection and to still amplify the message of this important movement. Our voices are still raised and their names will be heard- thank you for listening and for your support. #podcastblackoutMuch love, Heather and Bri.
This month, in the wake of the BLM movement and Juneteenth, we are participating in #PodcastBlackout. Instead of our scheduled episode, we're amplifying black queer podcasts, and other organisations advocating and fighting for equity and the end of systemic racism. We have been active on our Instagram feed this month, and many resources that offer support to and learning about the BLM movement are saved to our highlights. We encourage you to donate, if you can, and be an outspoken activist in this movement. This week instead of posting a typical episode of I'll Tell You What... we have joined other podcasts in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. #amplifymelanatedvoices We were inspired by And That's Why We Drink, who are also participating in this. No regular episode this week. We have chosen to participate in the Podcast Blackout (even if we are a little late), as it did not feel right to remain silent amidst the racial violence and police brutality not only in America, but in Canada as well. We are taking this time to listen, self-reflect, and educate ourselves as white-passing biracial Canadians who have undeniably benefited from white privilege. We support the demonstrations and the Black Lives Matter movement. We urge you to do what you can to help, whether it be donating, protesting, signing petitions, amplifying black voices, and/or calling out the racism and discrimination you witness in your daily life. WGRYC has proudly decided to do our part and participate in #PodcastblackOut by sharing just some of the Black Names who were wrongfully murdered by police brutality. In realizing our own ignorance and white privilege, only knowing these names wasn't enough. We needed to know more than just the names of the innocent victims. So, this week, we are sharing with you their stories as well. Don't give up fighting. Don't stop voting. Help fight for others by sharing their stories. Listener discretion is advised.
We’re continuing with our podcast blackout this week in an effort to amplify the black voices speaking out against racial injustice in our country. In the meantime, we’re working to bring more diverse perspectives into our regular content — stay tuned in the coming weeks for more advice for our younger selves with several special guests who can add their own experiences into the mix, which may be completely different (or surprisingly similar) to our own. We recognize that there is still so much work to be done in this fight for equality, and we’re committed to continue fighting for equality, liberty, and justice. Today, we want to take a moment to recognize just a few of the names of the black folx whose lives have been cut short by police since 2014. We say their names to remember and honor their lives, and to remind ourselves and others just how far we still have to go. During this period catalyzed by the unjust murder of George Floyd but certainly not limited to this single injustice among so many, I'm joining #PodcastBlackout. Here are a few thoughts as I join you in processing this moment's impact on our punk communities. Take care, everyone. I'll be back with another episode (and incredible guest!) next Friday, June 19th. www.Storypunks.World
In light of global protests against the racial injustice, violence, and police brutality in America, we felt it best to not release a regularly scheduled episode of The Cracked Die Podcast. We have joined several podcasts before us to participate in the Podcast Blackout. We stand in solidarity with the demonstrations against police brutality and racial violence in America. Though we may not understand and may never fully understand, the Cracked Die Podcast hopes to take this time to let Black voices be heard as we continue to educate ourselves in this matter and become better allies. If you cannot demonstrate, please consider spreading awareness, signing petitions, and/or donationg to causes. In light of recent events, we here at The B Plus have decided that our voices are not the voices you should be listening to this week. That's why we've been silent for a week of two. And now we hand over the microphones to indigenous wrestlers and wrestler adjacent peoples Joel Bateman, Michelle Hasluck, Erika Reid and ally/elder statesman of WA pro wrestling Davis Storm. They are talking indigenous issues in pro wrestling and wider society and its a powerful round table talk. Big thank you to all 4 participants for giving us their time and being willing to talk on these important and taxing issues.
SayWHA Radio Network is an independently black owned podcast network dedicated to bringing you content to educate and entertain. We have had the privilege of growing from one podcast, to several through the sheer audacity to bring a dream to reality. The topic of race has come up many times on this network. As well as the challenges faced being a person of color in the United States. Today we acknowledge a fraction of those we have lost, just for being who they are, by the system built to protect us. While The Innovating Advice Show is resuming after participating in #PodcastBlackout last week in support of #BlackLivesMatter, know that my commitment to continue learning and using my platform however I can to fight racism, injustice and inequality continues. We know that financial planning has long been seen as elitist and only accessible by the already-wealthy, who are often white. The racial wealth gap is astounding and racial discrimination in financial services is prevalent. At Innovating Advice, I have always been interested in people creating solutions to these problems. People creating processes, fee structures, systems, cultures and technology that make giving or receiving advice inclusive to all. That's the mindset and approach that I appreciate about Chris Shuba, CEO of Helios Quantitative Research and Helios Integrated Planning in this episode. Chris is all about creating tools that help to level the playing field and he seeks to continually evolve. We chat about how Helios is innovating advice, not only through their quantitative research but through their integrated planning and additional tools that will be rolled out this year. For this week's episode, I would like you to put your time and attention to where it needs it the most. Please consider protesting, donating, or even signing petitions in support of the BLM movement. Please visit tinyurl.com/BLMforever for charities and organizations to donate to and how to protest safely. Download the app, eatokra, to find local stores and restaurants that are owned by black members of the community. Continue to research on how to show your support for this movement. You might not be able to protest, and that is okay, but there are so many other actions that could help the people and the movement. This is history in the making and remember, silence=compliance. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/cattalespodcast/support

We were going to record a regular episode but in lieu of the protests to end police brutality against Black Americans happening all across the country, we decided that we should honor their fight for justice, stand in solidarity and demand for change. All lives matter. we know ALL lives matter, we should all feel that ALL lives matter, but white lives have ALWAYS mattered in this country without a shred of doubt, since 1776. From 1934/1968 we allowed banks to decide where the black Community could purchase homes, effectively creating the divide between inner cities and Suburbs, stripping funding for public schools, and public infrastructure. From 1864-1964, and still to the present day, we heavily restricted the rights of the black Community to vote. It's only been a short 50 years since we could finally share a public pool with the black Community, and there are still towns that enforce sundown laws where members of the black community are publicly and lawfully discouraged from exercising their right to simply exists when the sun goes down. Last month a black man couldn't even cash a check without being suspected of forgery, and killed by the police while laying on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back. So do all lives really matter, or does it only feel morally superior to say all lives matter? Because I'm not a black person, so I don't doubt my life matters, but from what I see today, and over the course of my 30 year life, my life matters more and the lives of those in my bloodline throughout our history have always mattered more. The country doesn't need a reminder that white lives have always mattered, We need to acknowledge the fact that black lives matter as well.--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-loser-podcast/support

SOME OF US ARE MEANT TO CAUSE RIPPLES WITHIN RACIST COMMUNITIES. USE YOUR POWER. USE YOUR PRIVILEGE. HOWEVER YOU CAN. Our black and brown family has had to bear this burden for far too long. It's time for us to step up. Change won't happen overnight but, if you haven't started working on this already, start NOW. To my black family: I love you. You're so needed in this world. Don't let the oppressors fool you - they oppress you because you are innately POWERFUL. Your sense of self, connectedness, and unwavering soul threaten those who feel meek and small. Never forget that their oppression is a projection of their own feelings of unworthiness and powerlessness.
