A common number is about 8,000, more in the OT than in the NT. But some say, depending upon how you parse them out, that there could be as many as 30,000. Of course, if God doesn’t keep every single one, He is not Who He says He is. So, what can we conclude except, He is a God Who keeps them ALL. What does that mean for you and I? Well, from Genesis onward, since God promised to send a Saviour to fix our terminal sin problem, all of His promises are yea and amen. And the categories for said promises? Abundant life, a crown of life, a heavenly home, assurance, comfort, answers to prayer, deliverance, protection, the Spirit, power for service, resurrection, rest, wisdom, strength, victory….shall I go on? You get the idea. Such an important subject in a day and age when people do not keep their promises – but God. Today's Promise: 2 Peter 1:4 The Bible contains over 3,000 promises. Every promise is God's commitment to you. Every command of God has a connecting promise because He always empowers you to accomplish His will. In this verse, Peter lists two purposes. First, God's promises are given for us to participate in His divine nature. Second, God's promises are given to escape the corruption of the world. Most Christians have no idea of the wonderful promises God has laid out in the scriptures. As you claim the promises of God, your faith will grow.
