Attending an Unbiblical Church?

Navigating family relationships when you disagree with your family's church choice is one of the most challenging situations Christians face. Pastor Heath Lambert provides biblical wisdom for this delicate balance between family loyalty and theological convictions. Using the framework of theological triage, this episode helps believers understand when to compromise, when to stand firm, and how love should guide every decision in church conflicts.TIMESTAMPS0:00 - Introduction: The Family Church Dilemma0:39 - The Question: Attending Unbiblical Churches for Family Unity1:49 - Why This Question Matters: Children and Family Dynamics2:51 - Understanding Biblical vs Unbiblical: Not All Errors Are Equal3:06 - Theological Triage: Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Issues4:05 - Primary Issues: Salvation-Essential Doctrines4:55 - Secondary Issues: Important but Not Salvation-Critical5:16 - Baptism Example: Baptist vs Presbyterian Practices6:46 - Tertiary Issues: End Times and Christian Disagreements8:17 - The Law of Love: 1 John 4:7 as the Ultimate Guide8:53 - Pride vs Conviction: Testing Our Motivations9:26 - When Love Means Compromise vs When Love Means Standing Firm10:13 - Final Answer: It Depends on Error Type and Love's DirectionKEY POINTSThe Reality of Family Church Conflicts: Christians often find themselves where their theological convictions differ from their family's church choice, creating tension between honoring family and maintaining biblical faithfulness.Theological Triage Framework: Not all biblical errors are equally serious. Churches can be "unbiblical" in different ways requiring different responses - understanding this hierarchy helps believers respond appropriately.Primary Issues - Salvation Essential: Doctrines so central that denying them prevents salvation, like salvation by grace through faith alone. Churches with primary errors should generally be avoided regardless of family pressure.Secondary Issues - Important but Not Salvation-Critical: Matters affecting church practice but not salvation, like baptism methods. Faithful Christians can disagree while remaining in fellowship.Tertiary Issues - Ongoing Christian Disagreements: Matters where good Christians disagree until Christ returns, like millennium details. These shouldn't divide churches or families. The Law of Love as the Ultimate Test: Love for both family and God must guide decisions. Love sometimes requires compromise on preferences, other times demands taking a stand for essential truth.Submit your questions for future episodes to MarkedbyGrace@fbcjax.comSCRIPTURE REFERENCES1 John 4:7 - "Beloved, let us love one another" - The law of love as the guiding principle for all theological and relational decisionsActs 5:29 - "We must obey God rather than men" - Referenced principle for when obedience to God requires standing against family pressure

Daily Prayer DevotionIn this empowering episode of "Daily Warfare Prayers," Pastor Derrick Crosby inspires listeners to guard their hearts against the dangerous traps of the "lust of the flesh," "lust of the eyes," and "pride of life," as revealed in 1 John 2:15-17. Through spiritual insight and heartfelt prayer, Pastor Crosby encourages surrender to the Holy Spirit, emphasizing that true strength and fulfillment come from yielding to God's guidance. Listeners are uplifted to pursue a deeper relationship with God, overcome the dangerous traps of worldly temptations, and embrace a life of purpose, devotion, and spiritual victory.Takeaways & Scripture ReferencesIntroduction to the Three Traps (00:00:00)**  Overview of the episode's purpose and introduction to the three spiritual traps: lust of the flesh, eyes, and pride of life.  *Scripture Reference: 1 John 2:16*Explanation of the Lust of the Flesh (00:01:51)**  Defines "lust of the flesh," contrasts fleshly and spiritual natures, and explains their ongoing conflict.  *Scripture References: Galatians 5:16-17; Romans 8:5-8*How to Overcome the Flesh (00:03:39)**  Describes yielding to the Holy Spirit as the only way to overcome the flesh, using the escalator analogy.  *Scripture References: Galatians 5:16; Romans 8:13*Prayer for Empowerment (00:05:28)**  Leads a prayer asking for grace, wisdom, and empowerment to overcome the flesh and yield to the Holy Spirit.  *Scripture References: 2 Corinthians 12:9; James 1:5; Ephesians 3:16*Surrender and Seeking God (00:07:02)**  Concludes with surrendering desires to God, seeking His will, and affirming delight in the Lord through prayer.  Scripture References: Psalm 37:4; Romans 12:1-2; Matthew 6:33*Call To Action Subscribe To Warfare Prayer Podcast for daily inspiration, devotion and prayer. Share this episode with someone going through trails and challenges Leave a review for Warfare Prayers Podcast. Support Warfare Prayers Here Other Prayer ResourcesClick here for prayer booksClick Here to follow on YouTubeTranscriptThank you for listening to Daily Warfare Prayers, a podcast created to empower your mind, soul and spirit through daily scripture, devotion and prayer so that you can walk in victory today. Today I want to warn you to avoid three dangerous traps. These traps will kill your love for God and your desire for his will. They are traps that Satan uses every single day.The traps are found in first John 215 through 17. The Bible says this do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the father, but is of the world, and the world is passing away and the lust of it.But he who does the will of God abides forever. So the dangerous devices, according to the word of God, that you must be aware of as you go about your day and as you go about your journey, are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

Today's devotion in prayer is centered on this topic that everything in your life is going to be okay. How can I say that confidently? Because the Word of God declares this in second Corinthians chapter one, verse ten. We've been discussing how to get through trials, how to overcome trials and suffering. And in our first lesson, we went over that God permit trials and suffering in your life. That simply means that God allowed these things to happen. Now why would God allow them to happen? The Bible says so that you can comfort others. God will comfort you in the midst of trials so that you may know how to comfort others. And in our last episode, we talked about that God not only permit trials to happen in your life, but he also empowers us to bear trials. God will bring us to the end of ourselves so that we can bear trials..............

How Can God Be Good When He Allows Evil to Happen?

One of humanity's most persistent theological questions is thoroughly examined in this episode of Marked by Grace. Pastor Heath Lambert tackles the challenging problem of evil and God's goodness, providing three classical Christian responses that have guided believers through centuries of doubt and difficulty. Whether you're wrestling with personal suffering or trying to understand God's character in a broken world, this episode offers biblical clarity on why God can remain perfectly good while allowing evil to exist.TIMESTAMPS0:00 - Introduction: The Persistent Question of Evil and God's Goodness1:08 - The Specific Question: Why Doesn't God Intervene Like We Should?2:08 - Granting the Premise: When Human Inaction Becomes Sin3:21 - God's Perfect Nature: Light with No Darkness4:08 - Response 1: Primary vs Secondary Causes Explained5:24 - Genesis 50:20 - Joseph's Brothers and God's Sovereignty7:27 - The Shakespeare and Hamlet Analogy8:34 - Response 2: All Evil as Judgment Against Human Sinfulness10:27 - Luke 13:5 - Jesus on the Tower of Siloam11:04 - Response 3: The Greater Good - God's Ultimate Plan12:10 - Romans 8:28 - All Things Work Together for Good13:19 - The Cross: Ultimate Example of Good from Evil14:16 - Eternal Perspective: Praising God for His Redemptive PowerKEY POINTS- The Question Explored: If humans are morally obligated to intervene when witnessing evil acts like assault or abuse, how can God witness atrocities daily without intervening and still be considered good and just?- Primary vs Secondary Causes: God operates as the sovereign primary cause behind all events, while humans act as secondary causes. Evil is always chargeable to secondary causes (human sin) never to the primary cause (God). This distinction explains how the same event can have both a sinful human motivation and a righteous divine purpose.- Universal Human Sinfulness: All people live in a fallen world where we deserve judgment, not blessing. The real theological question isn't "Why do bad things happen?" but rather "Why do any good things happen to sinners like us?" Every person deserves divine judgment due to their rebellion against God.- The Greater Good Principle: God's omnipotent righteousness enables Him to bring ultimate good out of every evil situation. This doesn't make evil good, but demonstrates God's power to redeem and transform even the worst circumstances for His glory and our benefit.- The Cross as Ultimate Example: Jesus Christ's crucifixion represents the worst act of victimization in human history, yet God transformed this ultimate evil into the means of salvation for countless people. This demonstrates how God can use even the most horrific events to accomplish his perfect purposes.- Eternal Perspective: In eternity, believers will praise God not despite the suffering that occurred, but because of how He used that suffering to accomplish His glorious redemptive plan. The eternal weight of glory will far exceed any temporary affliction.Submit your questions for future episodes to MarkedByGrace@fbcjax.comSCRIPTURE REFERENCES1 John 1:5 - "God is light and in him is no darkness at all" - Establishes God's perfect, sinless natureGenesis 50:20 - "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today" - Primary example of primary vs secondary causesLuke 13:5 - Jesus' warning about the tower of Siloam - All people deserve judgment without repentanceRomans 8:28 - "We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" - The greater good principle2 Corinthians 4:17 - "This light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison" - Eternal perspective on suffering

Are we all just players in a cosmic puppet show? When Paul began teaching the Roman Christians about God's election of Israel, he opened up a very large can of worms. We have a hard time understanding how these two things can be true at the same time: God chooses, and we choose. Our choices are real, and consequential; God's choices are eternal and unchallengeable. Can Paul show us from the scriptures that this is so? Robert Lewis Sermons

Guiding Question: What should Christians do when they have a dispute with another believer—and how does our response reflect our spiritual maturity? Summary: Robert Lewis addresses the growing tendency, both culturally and within the church, to resolve disputes through lawsuits rather than biblical reconciliation. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 6, he critiques the Corinthian church's behavior—suing fellow believers before secular courts—and parallels it with modern America's litigious spirit. The issue isn't legal rights, he explains, but spiritual priorities and witness. Paul's rebuke in 1 Corinthians centers on the fact that believers, destined to judge the world and even angels in the coming Kingdom, are settling minor disputes before unbelievers. Robert emphasizes that real-world spirituality demands a higher, kingdom-minded response. He presents three options for handling legitimate disputes among believers: Court litigation with shame – A believer sues another, damaging relationships and the church's witness. Church arbitration with wisdom – Mature, trained believers help mediate and resolve conflict honorably within the church. Personal resignation with loss – Willingly taking the loss to uphold the unity of the body and honor Christ. Robert carefully distinguishes between legitimate disputes and criminal or unrepentant sin. He clarifies that issues like fraud or abuse may require legal action and should not be shielded by misapplying this passage. He closes by urging listeners to commit: before ever thinking of court, reach out to the church and seek help from trained peacemakers. Not only is this biblical—it's a path to preserving relationships, protecting the church's integrity, and experiencing the abundance Christ offers. Key Takeaways: Suing fellow believers over legitimate disputes brings shame and dishonors Christ. The church should be the first place we seek resolution through wise arbitration. Sometimes, spiritual maturity calls us to willingly take a loss for the sake of unity. Criminal actions or unrepentant sin are not covered by this passage and may require legal recourse. Practicing real-world spirituality means honoring Christ even in conflict. Five Needs of Fathers MESSAGE SUMMARY: Introduction -- Father's, we need to understand God's expectations of Fathers. In  Ephesians 6:4, Paul defines God's expectations of fathers: “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.". Also, Proverbs 22:6 presents what expectations we might have if fathers adhere to God's expectations: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.". Dads are to bring up their children in "the way they should go" (their calling). Discipline, wisely administered by fathers, is an important attribute and need for fathers, as the author of Hebrews tells us in Hebrews 12:9-11: “. . . we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”. Today's Message -- The Five Needs of Dads: 1) Companionship -- Genesis 2:18, the majority of men were made not to be alone; 2) Respect – honor, appreciation, respect, as Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:33: “However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband."; 3) Know How to Face Temptation -- when we are tempted (temptation is not a sin) God will provide us a way out of succumbing to the temptation, 1 Corinthians 10:13; 4) Not to Be Foolish -- Proverbs 13:20; and 5) and Remember that God Expects You to Be a Dad -- Ephesians 6:4 and Proverbs 22:6, dads are to train their children so that their children are raised “in the way he should go' and in a way that meets God's expectations of both the dad and the child. Men are motivated when they know they will be held accountable, and God is holding us accountable for how we fathers raise our children. There is a void of faithful men and fathers today; therefore, dad's, should ask God to help you to be faithful as a father. Fathers should hope that, when we are judged by God, He tells us: “Well done good and faithful servant!”. “God, how many more {hours, days, and years} do I have, as a father, to meet your expectations and to receive the joys of being a father”   TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, Sabbath rest is truly an unbelievable gift! Thank you that there is nothing I can do to earn your love; it comes without any strings attached. As I close my eyes for these few minutes before you, all I can say is, thank you! In Jesus' name, amen.    Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 133). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 22:6; Genesis 2:18; Proverbs 19:22; Ephesians 5:33; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Proverbs 13:20; Hebrews 12:9-11;  (Click the Bible References, in blue, below to read the full Bible text for these Scripture References.). And we deem that to be un-godlike. But can the charge of arbitrariness be brought against the one true God? We see His sovereign choices all through the Bible. If He's not basing those decisions on human merit, is He being impulsive... or benevolent? We're back in Romans 9 with Jim. There's Israel... and then there's Israel. Many Christians are confused about something God makes very plain in the New Testament: His plans for the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. In his letter to the Romans, Paul devotes three chapters to the conundrum created by the gospel: If salvation is a gift to anyone who believes, then the Jews are not special, and God lied! The solution will take us all the way back to the promises made to the Patriarchs. “This is not a sunset—this is a sunrise.” In this powerful message from Mike Conway, we are invited into a deeper revelation of what it means to live unveiled—free from religious striving, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and transformed by the glory of God. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 3:7–18, Mike calls us to stop clinging to performance-based religion and instead surrender to the radiant love and presence of God. The law engraved on stone brought condemnation, but the ministry of the Spirit brings freedom and lasting transformation. What God is doing in you may look messy—but that's exactly where His glory shows up. “God doesn't want your effort—He wants your face.” “Hope glows in the dark.” “God's glory rests on the biggest mess.” Using the contrast between a veiled and unveiled life, this message challenges you to let go of fear, control, and performance and step into the childlike dependence that invites God's presence. You don't have to figure it all out—just reflect His light.

Robert Lewis Sermons

Guiding Question: What kind of spirituality actually works in real life—and how do the cross and the Holy Spirit make it possible? Summary: Robert Lewis dives into the heart of “real-world spirituality” through Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 2. Speaking to the sophisticated, style-obsessed Corinthians, Paul came not with flair or polished rhetoric but with a plain and simple message centered on Christ crucified. His lack of impressive speech was deliberate—it was the cross, not charisma, that carried power. Robert unpacks two essential pillars of life-transforming faith: Deeply Embrace the Cross – Real spirituality starts with dying to self. Without the cross, compromise creeps in, and spiritual growth stalls. Like the Corinthians, many believers today live forgiven but powerless lives because they resist the daily dying that unleashes resurrection power. Robert illustrates this with compelling stories—from a man who found freedom and generosity after surrendering financial control, to a broken father-son relationship healed by humility and repentance. The point: no death, no power. But on the other side of the cross is life, healing, and glory. Deeply Engage the Holy Spirit – Beyond self-denial, real spirituality includes a dynamic, intimate partnership with the Holy Spirit. He reveals God's thoughts to us, offers conviction, direction, and encouragement, and empowers discernment. Without the Spirit, believers grow spiritually dull, operating like a spiritual rover on Mars—barely receiving God's signal. But with the Spirit, believers gain wisdom, spiritual insight, and intimacy with God. Robert closes with two reflective questions for listeners: Where do you need to die to yourself? Do you want to be closer to God? He urges listeners to begin each day by surrendering to the cross and inviting the Holy Spirit in—plain and simple. Key Takeaways: Real spirituality isn't flashy—it's crucified and Spirit-filled. Without dying to self, we will always compromise God's best. The cross leads to spiritual power, freedom, and relational healing. The Holy Spirit enables daily intimacy with God and insight for living. Mature believers experience both the cost and the glory of following Christ. The first step toward escape from our problem is to admit we have a problem. And welcome to a new series in the towering, transformative letter of Paul to the Romans. God Speaks to Jesus Followers Through the Holy Spirit's Inward Voice, and with the Spirit, He Gave His Personal Relationship MESSAGE SUMMARY: Isaiah tells us in Isaiah 30:21: "And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,' when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.". We know, from the New Testament, that Jesus Followers are given the Holy Spirit to walk with them -- "a word behind you". Since the Holy Spirit takes up residence in you, the way the Lord speaks to you is through the inward witness of the Holy Spirit -- the Spirit will speak, and you will know that it is the Lord. In John 14:26, Jesus reminds us about His promise, to His followers, of the “Helper” (Holy Spirit): “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”. Additionally, in John 16-7, Jesus tells us that not only will the Holy Spirit be your “Helper”, the Holy Spirit will be your “Comforter”: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him {the Comforter} unto you.". For Jesus Followers, God speaks through the inward voice of the Holy Spirit who He gave to us along with a personal relationship with Him.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, you know how difficult it is for me to be in silence before you. At times it feels almost impossible, given the demands, distractions, and noise all around me. I invite you to lead me to a quiet, silent place before you — to a place where I can hear you as Elijah did. In Jesus' name, amen.     Scazzero, Peter. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Anger. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Forgiveness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). The Paradox of the Wrath of the Lamb- Key Question: “What is the wrath of the Lamb?” - The Lamb is a symbol of Christ, traditionally seen as gentle and sacrificial. - The idea of a lamb expressing wrath is paradoxical and meant to provoke thought.- Quote: “Have you ever seen lambs or sheep? What does that even mean? Lamb, lambs, wrath. Like what?”- Study Tip: Use the analogy of a lion and a lamb – Christ is both gentle and mighty. In His final act of judgment, the Lamb becomes the Lion of Judah.2. Biblical Reference: Revelation 6:12–17- Main Scripture: “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake…” (Revelation 6:12)- Key Details: - Cosmic disturbances: darkened sun, blood-red moon - Earthquake and falling stars - People cry out to be hidden from the face of God and the wrath of the Lamb- Quote: “The face that should have been their comfort becomes their terror.”- Study Tip: Use the mnemonic “COSMIC JUDGMENT” to remember the signs – Cosmic events, Earthquake, Stars falling, Mountains and rocks, People hiding, Wrath, Lamb.3. Theological Insight: Christ's Sacrifice vs. Final Judgment- Jesus as the Sacrificial Lamb: - Silent before His accusers (Isaiah 53:7) - Took on the wrath of God for our sins- Contrast: - Jesus endured wrath to spare us from it. - Those who reject Christ will face the wrath of the Lamb in the final judgment.- Quote: “He died the death that we deserve so we can have the life that he deserves.”- Study Tip: Use the analogy of a courtroom – Jesus is both the Advocate and the Judge. He took the penalty so we wouldn't have to face it.4. The Final Rejection and Fear of God- Response of the Lost: - Recognize God's reality but do not seek mercy. - Cry out for hiding from the face of God and the Lamb. - Not repentant, only fearful.- Quote: “They recognize the truth but refuse to surrender to it.”- Connection to Adam and Eve: - Like Adam in the Garden, they hide in fear and shame. - Their separation is now irreversible.- Study Tip: Use the framework of “Hiding vs. Healing” – Those who rejected God's offer of salvation can no longer accept it and now fear His presence.5. Lesson 1: People Are Lost Not Because They Were Uninformed- Key Point: Final judgment is not due to ignorance, but rejection.- Quote: “People will be lost not because they were uninformed. There's no new information, but because they refused to believe.”- Study Tip: Use the phrase “Truth Delayed, Not Denied” to remember that God's patience is not a sign of cancellation.6. Lesson 2: Delay Is a Gift of Mercy- Key Point: God delays judgment to give people time to repent.- Quote: “Delay is a gift of mercy, not a cancellation of prophecy.”- Scripture Reference: 2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”- Study Tip: Use the analogy of a pregnancy – Just because the baby isn't born yet doesn't mean it won't come. The delay is purposeful and full of hope.7. Lesson 3: Christ's Coming Will Be Sudden to the Unprepared- Key Point: The Second Coming will be unexpected for those not watching.- Quote: “Suddenly to those who are unprepared.”- Scripture Reference: Matthew 24:39 – “And they knew not until the flood came. Just like in Noah's day…”- Study Tip: Use the “Noah's Ark Analogy” – Just as only those inside were saved, only those in Christ will be ready.---Actionable Takeaways- Be Prepared: Watch and wait for Christ's return.- Share the Gospel: Delay is mercy; use the time to reach others.- Examine Your Heart: Are you hiding from God or drawing near to Him?- Seek Mercy While It's Available: The door will not remain open forever.---Study Tips and Memory AidsMnemonics- COSMIC JUDGMENT – Remember the signs in Revelation 6- Hiding vs. Healing – Understand the final response of the lostAnalogies- Lion and the Lamb – Christ is gentle now, but will be mighty in judgment.- Pregnancy Analogy – Delay is purposeful and full of hope.- Noah's Ark – Only those inside (in Christ) will be saved.Frameworks- Three Lessons from the Wrath of the Lamb: 1. People are lost not because they were uninformed, but because they refused to believe. 2. Delay is a gift of mercy, not a cancellation of prophecy. 3. Christ's coming will be sudden to the unprepared.Reflection Questions- Are you prepared for Christ's return?- Are you hiding from God or drawing near?- Are you using the delay as an opportunity to grow and share the Gospel?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/your-daily-portion-with-l-david-harris--2912188/support.

The Final Judgment. In our system of justice, we officially don't know whether you're guilty or innocent, until after the trial and verdict. And sometimes we don't really know whether you're guilty or innocent, even after that! In God's system, those who are righteous by faith have already been judged in our Representative. There's another trial awaiting those who are trusting in their own merits. It's the last thing that happens before God remakes the world: the Great White Throne judgment. Let's talk about... the kids! Could we think of the Millennial Reign of Christ as a kind of experiment, or demonstration? We begin the test-period with all good subjects. No sinners; none of Satan's breed allowed. And no Satan, either - he's locked up in the Abyss. After a thousand years of peace, prosperity and maximized human potential, how is the devil (now released) going to fool anyone? It's about the kids. "A new broom sweeps clean." Whether it's a new CEO at the company, or a new political administration, expect a lot of changes. That new broom won't miss a speck. When Jesus takes the throne of the Earth, "change" hardly touches the meaning of what will happen. Disruption, transformation, re-making - the world will be turned rightside-up, finally. There are at least 6 major changes that Christ will make, and Jim will outline them in his sermon, When God Rules the Earth. This world ain't big enough for the both of us! When Jesus arives, Satan must depart. And depart, he will - suddenly and violently. And then what? That's what Revelation, chapter 19 lays out for us. All of God's promises will be fulfilled, and many of them are fulfilled right here. We're ready for the rest of the sermon, Jesus Returns to Earth. We apologize for some technical issues. To Become Jesus Followers: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Every time you lie or cheat or lust or get stoned, you put a barrier between yourself and God because God is Holy. God's Holiness prevents Him from communing with sinners. The author of 1 John tells us in 1 John 3:8: “Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.". God brought Jesus, who was both God and man, to live on earth. Therefore, Jesus' blood sacrifice on the cross permitted Him to take on your sins. By His sacrifice, Jesus became the doorway for your personal relationship with God and a path for your Salvation from your sins (1 John 1:9-10): “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.".   TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, everything in me resists following you into the garden of Gethsemane to fall on my face to the ground before you. Grant me the courage to follow you all the way to the cross, whatever that might mean for my life. And then, by your grace, lead me to resurrection life and power. In Jesus' name, amen.   Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 100). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Addictions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Self-Control. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). A Prior “Independence Day Devotional” as We Prepare to Celebrate Again - We Must Have a Great Spiritual Awakening that Returns America to God MESSAGE SUMMARY: Will you "Stand in the Gap" and participate in a Great Awakening and Spiritual Renewal in America? The signers of the Declaration of Independence, in 1776, began a revolution which led to the formation of the United States of America. This Revolution was rooted in the belief that all people are subject to the rule of God, even the King; and leaders are not above man's law or God's Law. Also, everyone is endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. Many people have tried to deny that America's founders created a country which wove together the concept of self-governance with Christian principles. Now, it appears the focus, of many political and church leaders, is to eliminate ideas, laws, policies, and objects that relate America to Christianity, the Bible, or anything that smacks of God. Today, this focus away from God is succeeding. We all need to hear what our founders said regarding America's Christian base. Not long after the enactment of the Constitution in the late 1700s, morality and church attendance declined drastically into a Spiritual Depression. The answer to this 1700s turn away from God became the nationwide implementation of "Concerts of Prayer", across all Christian denominations, which led to an American Spiritual Awakening. Today, through our actions, laws, and cultural revisions of our founding Christian principles, we have told God that we do not want Him around. Therefore, we must consider what God said He would do and what He has done in the past when people have turned away from Him, as told in Psalms 2:1-2,5,10-12: “Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed . . . Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying . . .  Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.". In the past, as indicated in Psalms 2, God has withdrawn His presence, including His protection and divine wisdom, when people have turned away from Him. God's presence has guided America for so many years, and the withdrawal of God's presence in America would leave us to reap the consequences of our focus away from Him. Also, consider what the Lord said, in Ezekiel 22:30-31: "And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. Therefore, I have poured out my indignation upon them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have returned their way upon their heads, declares the Lord God.”. However, in Zechariah 1:3 and in many other promises throughout the Bible, God says to his people in the past and to us today: “Therefore say to them, Thus declares the LORD of hosts: ‘Return to me', says the LORD of hosts, ‘and I will return to you', says the LORD of hosts.". Will you "Stand in the Gap”, on behalf of your country, to participate in and lead a Great Awakening and Spiritual Renewal in America by returning America to God? We must have a Spiritual Awakening to return America to God.     TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I come this day inviting you to cut those deeply entrenched chains that keep me from being faithful to my true self in Christ. In doing so, may my life be a blessing to many. In Jesus' name, amen.      Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 44). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).
