Healthy Living Simplified Tips for Aging Well

Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast

Episode Summary: Aging is not for the faint of heart. But weight gain, illness, and infirmity do not have to be a way of life in our older years. The Bible has much to say about energy, vitality, healthy living, and aging gracefully. Taking care of our bodies is not selfish: it’s critical. Scripture reminds us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If we don’t take care of our bodies, they won’t take care of us. What is it we need to know to age well? In honor of Women's Health & Fitness Day, we are thrilled to welcome Shemane Nugent, (wife of Ted Nugent) a fitness instructor with over forty-three years of experience, author of Abundantly Well, and a passionate advocate for aging gracefully. What if you could feel healthier and happier without giving up your favorite foods or spending hours at the gym? In this episode, Shemane will share her favorite tips for staying in shape, feeling energized, and embracing vitality in your forties, fifties, sixties, and beyond. Together, we’ll explore how simple daily choices can ignite passion and purpose, no matter your age. Quotables from the episode: Those things that bring us to our knees, I believe bring us closer to God. And there have been a lot of people who have been through so much worse than I have. When we are, you know, trying to navigate through the storm. You can read every self -help book, and I did, and you can call out to God, and I did, and sometimes it might not happen overnight but it brings us to our knees, I believe bring us closer to God. Regardless of what situation or circumstance you're in, God has a plan for you. I am an unlikely messenger. Being healthy is an inside job. We tend to second guess ourselves. Regardless of where they're at in their life, especially where they're at in their health journey, I want to be your cheerleader. I want to come alongside you and advocate for you because I know it's not easy. I do have 44 years of experience in the health and wellness industry. I've taught just about every Fitness modality from step to spinning. I trained with Johnny G the guy who created spinning to slide to body pump to of course Zumba has been my favorite. I trained and developed programs for Zumba, traveled all around the world, training instructors and teaching probably, I don't know, 100,000 people, 100,000 classes. I mean, just having the time of my life, but that doesn't matter if you don't have joy inside, if you don't find your purpose. The baggage that we all carry with us into adulthood, if you had to put a weight on something that happened to you, when you were a kid, you know, somebody said something terrible to you and you still think about that, think about how much, just put a 10 pounds, 20 pounds, think about carrying that baggage around all the time and what your life would be like if you could just let go of it. As soon as I know that I'm awake, I don't even open my eyes. I say a prayer of gratitude, thanking God for my health and my family's health. That is number one for me. I think it's that first couple of steps that are the hardest. Yes, today was cold. It was dreary. I didn't want to exercise, and I do exercise regularly. But so yesterday, I just made an agreement with myself, just go do it for five minutes. Yes, five minutes. And you know what? 35 minutes later, I was so glad that I attempted the five minutes because it's that getting started. And so, friends, listen to what Shemane is saying. Maybe you just need an accountability partner. Maybe you need to text back and forth and say, okay, I'm going to make myself walk today. Hold me accountable tomorrow. There's something about being accountable that creates that momentum. What role does your faith play in your approach to health and wellness? - It's everything. And especially the last, I would say five years, but 10 probably overall, I've done a deep dive into spiritual warfare, the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. What better way than to make you doubt yourself, to destroy your health, your family's health? I do have a chapter in this book about spiritual warfare, and for me, faith is everything. Faith is everything that helps me get through the day. God is with us and He's there with us at a right hand and he will walk us through the storm. And sometimes we think we put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect. He knows that we're not. And I think he loves it when we admit that, when we repent, and we just move forward. Every day we are so blessed, to have another day to start again, try again. And I want to encourage people to do that as So, not be too hard on yourself. That's a good piece of grace -filled advice. When I talk to patients, when I talk to my audience about self-care, that includes self -compassion. Extending grace to ourselves, it's so much harder sometimes for us to extend grace to ourselves that we would extend to a friend. Plan ahead of time, so that when the time comes, you don’t have any excuses to make poor choices. Aging gracefully incorporates our thought life. If we were gentler and kinder to ourselves. I think we would also be gentler and kinder to others when we're tempted to criticize because we often criticize because we're feeling bad about ourselves. She meant if we would come back to what God says, God says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God says we are the apple of His eye. God says He delights over us with singing. If that's not reason to celebrate us without the makeup and the fancy hair and the fancy clothes, I don't know what is because God looks at the heart. Any plan to age gracefully has to look at what's going on in our heart and what's going on in our thought life. 46:12. I remember just having a sliver of hope, just a tiny little bit of hope. Sometimes that's all we need to get through the day. Focus on the good things focus on the positive things focus on that that open not just opened door, not an open window, but just maybe the windows cracked a little bit. We've got to really count our blessings and be grateful for those things that we have. I think I learned this from my mother, she was very complimentary towards other people. And when I first see somebody, like my friend the other day, I saw her, I'm like, you look really good. Let's compliment each other. Let's start from a perspective of joy and providing other people. Sometimes we give our problem to the Lord in prayer... and we think He won't notice when we take it right back. Yesterday we began to think together about prayer - how it grows out of our faith, and then nurtures our faith in return. Today we'll see some examples from the very early days of the church. Granted, these were extraordinary times, and God was shaping the course of history through these prayers, but we'll find that the principles work on the smaller scale of our lives, as well. Pastor Andy reminds us that the real battle isn't with external enemies but with the thoughts and strongholds that live within. God has already made provision, but we must overcome fear, embrace what is new, remember what He's already done, and surround ourselves with people who speak faith. True victory comes when we stop seeing ourselves as small and start fighting with the spiritual weapons God has given us to walk fully into His promises. How strong is your faith? How's your prayer life? And do we realize that those are the same question? Only those with faith can pray - really pray - and when we do pray, our faith grows. But that feedback loop works in reverse, too, and many Christians find it easy to seek answers in the "self help" section, and difficult to seek God. Here's a message that should help all of us, then. It's called, Faith, Hope, Love in Prayer, and here's Jim with Part 1. Maybe you've wondered, “What does God actually want from me? Is He angry at my failures? Demanding? Hard to please?” I also used to think that. But then I read this simple truth in the Bible: God wants everyone to be saved and to come to an understanding of the truth. This is good news for all of us. No matter what your background, no matter what doubts you have, or past mistakes—God is reaching out to you right now. He does not expect that you have all the answers or have your life altogether. He just wants you to take one step toward Him. Would you say this simple prayer with me? “God, I do believe in You, that You want me and You love me. And I want to know You. Please come, help me connect with You today. And I'll walk with You all the days of my life. In Jesus' name, amen.” Always remember, there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. If there's one thing every parent of girls knows, it's this: emotions can run deep, wide, and loud. From tearful meltdowns to dramatic outbursts, our daughters' feelings can often feel like tidal waves that threaten to pull the whole household under. But what if those very moments weren't interruptions to parenting—but opportunities for discipleship?  In this episode of the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, host Patti Garibay, Founder & Executive Director Emeritus of American Heritage Girls, sits down with licensed professional counselor and bestselling author Michelle Nietert to unpack how parents can guide their daughters through big emotions with both compassion and Biblical truth. Drawing from decades of experience as a counselor, school crisis responder, and mom, Michelle offers practical insights for helping girls process sadness, fear, and anxiety while building emotional resilience that's rooted in Christ.  You'll hear encouragement for the mom who feels like her daughter is drowning in emotions, guidance on discerning when drama signals deeper emotional needs, and everyday ways parents can connect spiritual discipleship to emotional growth. From playground drama to teenage friendship struggles, Michelle reminds us that while the world may tell girls to be ruled by their feelings, God calls them to bring those feelings to Him.  Scripture References:  Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”  2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”  Philippians 4:6–7 – “Do not be anxious about anything… and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Galatians 5:22–23 – The fruit of the Spirit, including self-control. This conversation will leave you equipped with tools, reassured by truth, and reminded that you are not alone in raising emotionally healthy, Godly girls.  This conversation will leave you equipped with tools, reassured by truth, and reminded that you are not alone in raising emotionally healthy, Godly girls.  You can learn more about Michelle and her work at michellenietert.com  Explore more resources to raise girls rooted in Christ at raisinggodlygirls.com.     To find or start an AHG Troop in your area, visit americanheritagegirls.org.

The Antichrist is a nobody! Daniel's vision of the "little horn" surely tells us to expect someone "off the radar," maybe the leader of a small country. Does the Bible give us some "early warning signs" of the Antichrist? Big emotions are a normal part of growing up—but when those emotions start calling the shots, our girls can quickly feel overwhelmed, discouraged, and even defeated. As moms, we want to raise daughters who feel deeply while also learning that their emotions don't get to be in charge—Christ does.  In this episode, co-hosts Rachael Culpepper and Melissa Bearden explore what it means to guide our daughters through the highs and lows of anger, sadness, joy, and fear with patience, connection, and truth. You'll hear honest mom-to-mom stories, practical tools like “do-overs” and weekly check-ins, and encouragement to see emotional outbursts not as inconveniences but as discipleship opportunities.  Together, we'll unpack how to help our daughters:  Recognize that emotions are real but not ultimate truth  Move from reacting in anger to responding in the Spirit  Root their identity in Christ rather than in how they feel  Practice self-control through grace-filled parenting moments  You'll also hear the Raising Godly Girls Minute with Patti Garibay, Founder & Executive Director Emeritus of American Heritage Girls, reminding us that while anger is natural, the Holy Spirit transforms it into life-giving joy.  So, whether your daughter is slamming doors, quietly shutting down, or somewhere in between, this episode will remind you that big feelings don't make her “too much.” They make her human—and God has entrusted you to shepherd her through them with His wisdom and love.  Scripture References:  • Galatians 5:16, 19–21, 22–23  • 2 Timothy 1:7  • John 11:35    This Week's Reminders:  Big emotions don't make your daughter “bad”—they make her human. God created her with deep feelings for a purpose. Your job isn't to silence those emotions but to shepherd her through them with love, patience, and truth.   Correction is most powerful when it's paired with connection. Your daughter will grow most when she feels safe, seen, and loved—even after a meltdown. Stay close, speak truth, and don't underestimate the power of a gentle tone.   You are not alone in this—and neither is she. God is with you in every eye roll, every slammed door, and every teary moment. He's working in her heart even when you can't see it. Keep sowing seeds of Spirit-led parenting. He is faithful to grow the fruit.  Explore more resources to raise girls rooted in Christ at raisinggodlygirls.com.     To find or start an AHG Troop in your area, visit americanheritagegirls.org.

Jesus returns with the church, not for the church! We've been trying to think more clearly about what will happen at the close of the age, the end of Gentile rule of the Earth. 2025-09-07 Who Is The King of Glory?by Pastor Chris BergScripture Reference: Micah 5:1-65 Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops;    siege is laid against us;with a rod they strike the judge of Israel    on the cheek.2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,    who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me    one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old,    from ancient days.3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time    when she who is in labor has given birth;then the rest of his brothers shall return    to the people of Israel.4 And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord,    in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great    to the ends of the earth.5 And he shall be their peace. When the Assyrian comes into our land    and treads in our palaces, then we will raise against him seven shepherds    and eight princes of men;6 they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,    and the land of Nimrod at its entrances;and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian    when he comes into our land    and treads within our border.

Pastor Andy teaches that when we truly connect with God, we are empowered to fight - not just external battles, but the internal ones that shape our identity and destiny. Struggles that seem adversarial, even those with God Himself, are often tools to strengthen us for future victories and to bring us into alignment with who He says we are. True breakthrough happens when we stop resisting God's call, embrace our God-given identity, and fight forward with faith, knowing our weapons are divine and our victory is promised. The Power of God in Your Life MESSAGE SUMMARY: As a follower of Jesus, God's power can be displayed in your life. In John 11, Jesus is in a distant town when He learns that Lazarus is very ill, but Jesus says that Lazarus will not die. However, subsequently, Jesus tells His Disciples that, indeed, that Lazarus has “died”. Jesus intended to use Lazarus' “death” and “resurrection” to build His Disciples' faith and to illustrate God's glory and power by awakening Lazarus from his “death”. When Jesus arrives at Lazarus's home town, He tells Lazarus' sister that Lazarus will arise from his “death”. At this point, Jesus tells Martha, in John11:23-27, one of the most profound statements of His earthly ministry that is the cornerstone of our Salvation Gospel: “Jesus said to her, ‘Your brother will rise again.' Martha said to him, ‘I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.' Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?' She said to him, Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.'”. With both the faith of Lazarus' sisters Mary and Martha, Jesus raises Lazarus from his death in Lazarus' tomb. Upon seeing Lazarus raised from the dead by Jesus, some believed in Jesus as the Christ, but some went to the Jewish religious leaders who feared Jesus' growing power with the people; and these leaders plotted Jesus' death. In Jesus' parable of the “Rich Man and Lazarus” in Luke 16:19-31, Jesus illustrates that no matter how powerful the miracle, like raising someone from the dead, many people's hearts are so hardened to God, His Grace, and the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus that they will not believe in Jesus and His Gospel of our Salvation. The implications, for us, from John 11 and Luke 16: 1) Jesus can handle our death through His assurance of Eternal Life if we believe and follow Him, and 2) God wants to exhibit His power through our lives while we are still alive—we are not called to be wimpy Christians; we are called to be men and women of the mighty God. However, too often we are blinded by our religious experiences or what we think we have seen in church. Therefore, we think God's power is of another time, or because we believe that our sin is so great that God's power will not be in us. God wants to indwell us through the Holy Spirit – consider that the Creator of the Universe, God, wants to give you power in your life! Jesus tells us, in John 14:11-14: “Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, and I will do it.”. When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, God was giving an outward demonstration of the power that He wants to indwell in us. God has blessed us with the privilege and power of a personal relationship with Him and with the privilege, power, and God's expectation that we will be His blessing to other people.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Keeping the Sabbath, Lord, will require a lot of changes in the way I am living life. Teach me, Lord, how to take the next step with this in a way that fits my unique personality and situation. Help me to trust you with all that will remain unfinished and to enjoy my humble place in your very large world. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 129). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD'S EYES. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21). The Tribulation as purification? In our previous two broadcasts we've noticed something about the Great Tribulation; we've seen God's focus on the people of Israel during that 7-year period. Is the Book of Revelation "too far out there?" John's Apocalypse is just too weird to be in the Bible. It's way, way too violent. It refers too much to the Old Testament. It's too hard to understand. Nebuchadnezzar, and the Antichrist: Two kings cut from the same cloth. Many of us would like to have more information about "The Man of Sin," "The Beast," "6-6-6." The Bible gives us only the lowlights. But he has a sort of "twin brother" in the Old Testament. Both of them are super-kings, both are identified with beasts, and both love statues. Crumbs From The Table MESSAGE SUMMARY: We need to create a Culture of Grace and Kindness in our families, our churches, our work, and in our country. What is a Culture of Grace and Kindness? This culture involves: 1) an atmosphere or environment in which there is no griping or complaining – no putting people down; 2) giving others the benefit of the doubt; 3) visibly valuing other people; and 4) being filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. A Culture of Grace and Kindness flows from: 1) keeping Jesus Lord – as Jesus instructed us in Mark 12:29-30: “Jesus answered, ‘The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'”; 2) loving your neighbor as yourself – as Jesus instructed us in Mark 12:31: “'The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these.'”. 3) practicing the “Golden Rule” – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”; and 4) “having the attitude of the Canaanite Woman” – in Matthew 15:25-28, she exhibited humility without pride: “But she came and knelt before him, saying, 'Lord, help me.' And he answered, ‘It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.' She said, ‘Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table.' Then Jesus answered her, ‘O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.' And her daughter was healed instantly." Too often in our families, work and church, we forget, in the way we treat others, that we to are sinners and not perfect. Therefore, we exhibit a culture without grace and kindness. Without a Culture of Grace and Kindness, we miss the blessings. In Matthew 15:25-28, the “Canaanite Woman” received the blessing, in her faith and humility, from Jesus when “her daughter was healed instantly”. Additionally, some are unhappy in their “Christian walk”.  Those, who are unhappy in their Christian walk, have forgotten that what Jesus wants from them is for them to “love Him”. The Lord, in ; Revelation 2:4, was telling the Church in Ephesus three things will enable us to get back to our love of Jesus: 1) remember – remember how we loved God when we first started walking with the Lord; 2) repent and return to the Lord – ask God to fill you with a sense of longing for Him; and 3) repeat the things we performed when our faith was on fire for God – don't get away from doing those things that provided a direct link for you to have a personal relationship with God and made you, in your eyes and the eyes of others, a follower of Jesus. Are you communicating, in your works, actions, words, and deeds inherent in a Christian Culture of Grace and Kindness? If not, why not?   TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 94). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13). Political leaders believe they're working for "the people," or for their country, or for their legacy. Fiction. Fiction. Fiction. Anyone placed in a position of power works for God. He or she is a deputized agent of the Almighty for suppressing wickedness and promoting righteousness. And this is true, by the way, whether the leader is a Christian, a pagan or an atheist. Your newsfeed needs an interpreter! Ideally journalists would tell us about events that really happened. But even then, those occurrences would need context, and some sort of key or template so that we could make sense of them. You're way ahead of me: The Bible is that key. Is the Antichrist creeping up on us? Will we awaken one day to find the Mark of the Beast hidden in our computers, our phones, our watches? Will disciplining children for tantrums and outbursts damage their willingness to share feelings and communicate openly? Discover four biblical principles that show how proper discipline actually strengthens rather than harms parent-child relationships.TIMESTAMPS0:00 - Introduction: The Heart of a Torn Parent1:09 - The Core Question About Discipline and Relationship1:33 - Principle 1: Spankings Are Not the Only Thing We Do2:57 - Principle 2: Spankings Are for Sin, Not Feelings3:31 - Clarifying What We Punish vs. What We Discuss4:21 - Teaching Children to Identify Their Sin5:15 - Principle 3: Discipline Is Parental Obedience to God5:39 - Proverbs 13:24 - Love Disciplines Diligently6:31 - Building Character Through Parental Integrity6:57 - Principle 4: Spanking Is Not the Last Step7:45 - The Lambert House Rule: Don't Leave Angry8:22 - Ending Discipline with Prayer, Grace, and Restoration8:44 - When Discipline Goes Wrong vs. RightMAIN POINTS- Spankings Are Not the Only Thing We DoPhysical correction should be a very small percentage of overall parenting time. Parents who discipline have earned that right through much larger investments of positive relationship building. - Discipline is placed within a broader context of love and care throughout daily life.- Spankings Are for Sin, Not Feelings or PreferencesChildren should never be punished for having feelings, needing to talk, or making mistakes. - Discipline is specifically for sin - violations of God's law. Parents must clearly communicate the difference between emotions that need discussion and sinful behaviors that require correction.- Discipline Is Parental Obedience That Models IntegrityFollowing Proverbs 13:24, parents demonstrate love through diligent discipline. This shows children that parents have integrity and follow God's commands, building rather than undermining confidence in the parent-child relationship over a lifetime.- Discipline Should End with Restoration, Not AngerThe Lambert house rule was to never leave discipline sessions angry. After confession, forgiveness, and correction, the process should end with prayer, grace, and often laughter and affection. The goal is restoring the relationship broken by sin through faithfulness to God's Word.SCRIPTURE REFERENCESPrimary Passages:Proverbs 13:24 - Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline himSupporting Context:Proverbs 22:15 - Folly is bound up in the heart of a childProverbs 23:13-14 - Do not withhold discipline from a childHebrews 12:5-11 - God disciplines those he lovesEphesians 6:1-4 - Children obey parents; fathers don't provoke to angerDeuteronomy 6:6-7 - Teaching children diligentlyColossians 3:21 - Fathers, do not embitter your childrenHave a question you'd like answered? Go! Make Disciples! MESSAGE SUMMARY: Most Christians, today, are living in disobedience to the Lord – Christians and churches are ignoring the commands of Jesus.  In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus told His Apostles, in His last commission right before His Ascension to Heaven: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”. Jesus commanded His Apostles to Go and to Make Disciples. This is the mandate to every follower of Jesus. Christians were not called “Christians” until Acts 11. Before Acts 11, they were referred to as “Disciples”. Being a “Disciple” is a way of living and being – a liver, teacher, and doer of Jesus commandments and His Gospel. The Bible teaches us the characteristics of being a “Disciple”: 1) loving; 2) Holy Spirit filled; 3) knowing and is learning the Bible; 4) knowing how to pray; 5) knowing how to Worship; 6) walking with Jesus; 7) sharing with others in need; 8) having a disciple; and 9) being a faithful witness. God wants a personal dynamic relationship with us. The people of our world need the followers of Jesus to GO and to MAKE DISCIPLES. People are waiting to see Jesus through His followers – people who can speak the Word of God to them. The literal translation of Matthew 28:19-20 is not the command “Go” but “as you Go”. Jesus was assuming that, as His followers, we were already Going (i.e. Evangelism); therefore, His command of us was: as you go, make Disciples!   TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I now take a deep breath and stop. So often I miss your hand and gifts in my life because I am preoccupied and anxious. Grant me the power to pause each day and each week to simply rest in your arms of love. In Jesus' name, amen.    Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 132). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. Has Jesus returned already? Some early Christians were upset to hear that the Lord had come back, and they had missed it. That sounds kind of silly to us because we know that, when Jesus appears, no one will miss it! We have His word on that. And there are some events that must happen first. There's a mass de-conversion, for one thing; the Apostasy. And the capital-A Antichrist has to arise. We're in Daniel 9, talking not about the Rapture, but the Return. Bones... and breath! Ezekiel saw some crazy stuff! Creatures with four faces; wheels within wheels, covered with eyes; a throne with a glowing human on it; and that valley of dry bones. The people of God were demoralized, defeated and deported. Could they be re-animated? "Can these bones live?" We're looking at signs of the End. Today and tomorrow Jim will bring us the sermon, When God Honors His Great Name. Pastor Heath Lambert tackles the controversial question of women's voting rights from a biblical worldview. In this episode, he addresses whether Christians should believe women should lose the right to vote based on male headship principles. Lambert provides clear biblical reasoning on government, voting rights, and how Christian families can maintain unity and biblical leadership while still allowing women to participate in democracy. This thoughtful analysis separates biblical mandates from cultural preferences and offers practical wisdom for Christian families navigating political participation.Key Timestamps0:13 - Question introduction: Should women be allowed to vote?2:02 - Biblical perspective on voting and government3:16 - Examples of biblical leadership (judges and kings)4:14 - Why voting isn't mandated or forbidden in Scripture5:53 - Reality check: Women's voting rights aren't going away6:31 - Why women should retain voting rights7:48 - Problems with male-only voting in a fallen world8:32 - How Christian families can vote with unity and leadershipKey Points- Voting is Extra-Biblical: The Bible doesn't mandate or forbid voting systems. Biblical examples show righteous government through judges and kings, not democratic processes.- Scripture Silence Means Freedom: Since the Bible doesn't specify voting requirements, Christians have freedom in how voting systems operate.- Male Headship Doesn't Equal Vote Monopoly: Biblical male leadership in the home doesn't logically require removing women's voting rights.- Fallen World Considerations: Single women, widows, and women in ungodly marriages would be left without representation under male-only voting.- Unity Through Leadership, Not Restriction: Christian families can maintain biblical unity and male leadership while still allowing all members to vote.- Practical Family Example: Families can discuss issues biblically, pray together, and reach unified voting decisions without eliminating anyone's right to participate.Scripture ReferencesRomans 13:1-7 - "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God... For the one in authority is God's servant for your good."Biblical Examples of Leadership:Judges 13-16 - Samson's leadership periodJudges 6-8 - Gideon raised up as judge over Israel1 Samuel 8-31 - Establishment and history of Israel's monarchyJudges 2:16 - "Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders"Ephesians 5:23 - "For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church"1 Timothy 3:4-5 - Regarding household leadership and church governanceHave a question you'd like answered?
