Twitter's timeline is currently overrun with ads for some users, in what appears to be a glitch involving the distribution of Promoted Tweets. Typically, a Promoted Tweet — which is just a regular tweet an advertiser has paid to promote more broadly — will appear just once at the top of a user's timeline, then […]

Social Jack™ Influence Factory Episode 55: Laura Stees - "Coaching with Influence" Air Date: Wednesday, March 27, 2019 HAVE QUESTIONS? - Leave a comment below and we will get back to you within 48 hours. The Influence Factory is a LIVE webcast that airs every Wednesday at NOON Central (via Zoom and Facebook LIVE). In the #InfluencerNewsUpdate segment… During the Influencer News Update, the team discusses “Twitter Provides New Stats and Advice on Video Marketing”, an article by Andrew Hutchinson via Social Media Today. Here is what we discussed: - As we all know, video has become the number one, best-performing, content type on all social channels. - Over the last 12 months, video views on Twitter have doubled to, roughly, 1.2 billion video views on Twitter per day. - Video is the fastest growing option for advertising on Twitter - Tweets featuring a video tend to see upwards of 10x more engagement than those without. - Promoted Tweets with videos save more than 50% on cost-per-engagement. - Twitter recognizes that video performs the best over all other types of content, so they have outlined the various methods to help businesses use video content on their platform. - First, we have Promoted Video: This feature allows you to promote a video that you have shared on your Twitter account. The video will autoplay within the timeline. - Second, there are Video Website Cards: After watching your video, get your audience to take action. Video Website Cards drive mobile readers to your website. Choose for them to learn more, complete an action, or something else entirely. - Finally, In-Stream Video Ads: In-Stream videos are advertisements played at the beginning of a video from one of our 200+ content partners. Run pre-roll video content to align your brand with brand-safe, premium content - including highlights and other top video clips - that your customers are already watching. - In order to maximize your video ads on Twitter, they strongly encourage optimizing your ads for mobile. - “Keep it mobile-friendly” – 93% of Twitter Video views happen on mobile devices, so it is crucial to make sure that your ads and other video content are optimized for it. - Add subtitles or captions – Twitter advises users to add subtitles or captions in case their viewers are viewing the content with the sound off. Once again, make sure that it looks good on mobile. We’re back after a two week hiatus – sorry! But we’ve got a lot of little tech morsels — some of them vulgar — for you. From the “Uber for Gas” and “Uber for Tailoring” to Google’s proposed new OS for the Internet of Things, to IKEA’s official Hack system, to Nintendo’s curious VP of Sales. We also clear the air about the rumor of Netflix running ads, while Alex goes off on a rant about the importance of advertising, which leads to Twitter’s terrible advertising system (and their sheer idiocy in auto-approving Promoted Tweets). We delve into the world of teledildonics and VR porn. Mitcz says “yawn”, Alex says “wait and see…” as we debate the merits and pitfalls of various futuristic sex devices. We round out the show with a discussion about Ross Ulbricht’s life sentence, a discussion of Silk Road, and whether or not the sentence was fair.

Six Pixels of Separation Podcast - By Mitch Joel

Welcome to episode #207 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. It's not about whether or not banner advertising works, it's about how we are designing the Internet. More often than not, publishers create pages that are better for their advertisers than they are for their consumers. When that happens, consumers vote with their clicks, their Facebook status updates and with their tweets. The model for the Internet, Marketing and communications is more complex than ever. In this episode of Media Hacks, Christopher S. Penn, Hugh McGuire and myself explore some of the bigger changes that are happening online right now. This includes new developments like Apple's Retina Display as well as what email can (and should) do better. Enjoy the conversation... Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast - Episode #207 - Host: Mitch Joel. Running time: 50:58. Episode #31 of Media Hacks is now and it features:  Hugh McGuire - LibriVox - Bite-Sized Edits - The Book Oven. Christopher S. Penn - Blue Sky Factory - Marketing Over Coffee.  Not available for this episode: Chris Brogan - New Marketing Labs - Co-author of Trust Agents. C.C. Chapman - Managing The Gray - Campfire. Julien Smith - In Over Your Head - Co-author of Trust Agents. The economy is still in the tank, but you can't find an iPad to save your life. What does that tell? Ninja gives us the rundown on the economy. It's time to shut down the government for twenty years and start printing money. ...And with all of that, the release of the new iPhone still crashed both the AT&T and Apple website. We are getting tired of being poor and we're not going to take it. We are fine with living in debt... especially if it's cheap. The big debate: do you buy an iPad or wait for the new iPhone 4G and get the next generation iPad? A chat about the new iPhone. It's all about Retina Display. The new iBook shelf can scrape email and work in PDF formats. Once again, we're talking about location. A new conversation about a smarter email system. There is a lot of talk about people not using email in the future. Like Facebook: Email: Press Delete. Managing information is still a struggle and it's not perfect. Can Google Wave save us? Does anybody remember bacn? Hugh gets provocative: Death to Design? Death to the Banner Ad? Loving both Readability and InstaPaper. Avinash Kaushik (Analytics Evangelist, Google and author of Web Analytics 2.0) is all about not being a selfish lover. Text will be displayed in many different ways, so let's make the text more like data. Banners ads vs. Display advertising vs. the needs/wants of the reader. How much stock is there in display advertising? Ad-blocking is bigger than you think. Danny Sullivan's take on Readability and display advertising. Twitter and the new Promoted Tweets. Broadcasting Works (Even In Social Media). Twitter has over 125 million users. Twitter is now Times Square. I rant about why banner advertising really messed up New Media. What is the Internet as a media channel? What can it be? With reading as the primary driver, who designs for the reader? The Huffington Post design works well for them. As does the Craigslist design. What provides comfort is what will win. The flow of iPad usability will change the game (again). Twitter Places is coming. Check out The Deal Map. Thinking about our friends at Podcasters Across Borders. Happy Father's Day everyone! David Usher - 'Kill The Lights'.
