Oblique Strategies is not something I have ever heard of and was interested to see what it is. Having had a fairly superficial look, I am not sure if I have missed very much. I came across an alphabetical list of quotes and selected a couple of contiguous ones more or less at random: 'Imagine the music as a moving chain or caterpillar' and 'Imagine the music as a set of disconnected events'. The resulting track is an electronic composition which started with a sequence of sounds created using Pure Data, then modifying and expanding them by the use of selected filters and additions. Before joining Pure she led a multi-billion transformation programme for National Grid across both the gas and electricity transmission businesses. This followed several senior engineering appointments as: the Group Engineering Director for Merlin Entertainments with responsibility for engineering delivery and standards across the worldwide portfolio of theme parks; and the Head of Engineering at Gatwick Airport. She joined Gatwick after 23 years as an Engineering Officer in the Royal Air Force.She is a Trustee of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Chairs the Audit and Risk Committee and a Trustee of the Air League. She was the longest serving President of the Women's Engineering Society, turning it around over a 5 year tenure, and is currently the Chair of the iMasons Committee. She was honoured with a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering in October 2020 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the engineering profession and was appointed a Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE) for services to engineering in the King's New Years Honours 2023.Sam Grady, A Healthier EarthSam is a commercial strategy professional with experience of driving social impact in both the public and private sector. Whole nuts are a good source of fiber and nutrients, but are they heart-healthy? Many studies relate nut intake and longevity, including the famous Seventh Day Adventist studies from Loma Linda, California. This week, Dr. Kahn shares three studies on nuts: one that shows improved heart health, one that shows a healthier gut leading to heart health, and one that shows resistance to frailty with aging. He makes a compelling case to eat nuts most or all days. Dr. Kahn also discusses the 30-second sit-stand test that you should try, which can be found at cdc.gov/steadi/pdf/STEADI-Assessment-30Sec-508.pdf.
