“News is to the mind what sugar is to the body: appetising, easily digestible and extremely damaging.” Rolf Dobelli, Stop Reading the News Most people think that consuming the news makes one an informed citizen who is equipped to form intelligent opinions on social and political issues. This week on Nacho Fitness Coach, Caleigh and Sara dive into the absurd world of social media nutrition “experts,” where apparently if “protein” isn't listed in the ingredients, it simply doesn't exist. We break down a viral video claiming Fairlife shakes have zero protein (yes, really), and talk about how misinformation is messing with people's heads. We also unpack what ingredient lists actually mean, the difference between nutrition facts and macros, and how unrealistic physique expectations online have gotten. Plus, we go off on some signature tangents, reflect on body image goals that never seem to stop shifting, and try to make peace with the number on the scale. Spoiler alert: it's not about chasing perfection—it's about understanding your body and not taking advice from a guy shouting in the milk aisle.Connect with us on social media!Instagram | TikTok | Threads | Youtube | Facebook | X (Twitter) | WebsiteThis podcast offers health, fitness, and nutritional information and is designed for educational and entertainment purposes only. LIES ABOUT PALM SUNDAYPalm Sunday is the most mistold tale since the Christmas story, making it the perfect cap to top off our series about the lies our Sunday School teachers taught us. Although I probably would lay the blame for this one more on pastors and teachers who turn an event that wasn't into a spectacle. It's not hard to see how so many people misunderstand what happened that day! All you need to do is STOP READING before the gospel writers finish telling their stories... I guess if you don't like the ending, stop before you get to it, right?Today, we read the WHOLE story and change the way we understand Palm Sunday to something quieter, deeper, and more dramatic than the lie most people have embraced.

Over the years, I've grown as a reader, gained a bit more perspective, and life has shaped the way I connect with these stories. Tune in to hear how my relationship with these books has evolved and why they've become essential reads for me today.Send Me a Text Message with Your QuestionsSupport the showIMPORTANT LINKS:

Yes, there are now 100 episodes of Shannon in New York City and Erik in Prague discussing the American Musical. To celebrate, we decided to each compile a list of 5 songs that, for us, represent what makes the musical the wonderful art form it is. The musical can do things that nothing else -- no other art form -- can do, and we think these songs illustrate that. In this episode, we discuss the first 5 of these songs -- our next episde will cover the other 5. We sincerely hope you enjoy and that you'll email or message us with the 5 songs you would choose. NB: There will be a playlist of just the songs discussed in these two episodes included in the notes of the next episode to avoid spoiling anyone who wants the second half of the list to be a surprise. Also, STOP READING to avoid getting spoiled for what's on this episode. We also hope to make a playlist of your selections, so we can all share. You'd think this was fairly straightforward, so why is it so hard to admit defeat? Why do we use words like “admit defeat” when discussing a book? The book doesn't know you're not reading it! Stevie had these epiphanies recently, after pretending to read Crime and Punishment for circa 25 years, and Tessa is eager to learn.Subscribe to the Nobody Panic Patreon at patreon.com/nobodypanicWant to support Nobody Panic? On the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are slapping on our swords and sandals and taking down creepy succubus monsters once and for all. We watched the 2013 film from Joe Lynch, Knights of Badassdom.Put aside any negative thoughts or preconceived notions you might have about the enjoyable activity (lifestyle?) of LARPing, i.e., Live Action Role-Playing. Not only is it a blast, but it just might be your chance to save the world. Our recommendation: go into the LARPing day with the expectation that you're going to end up fighting for your life. Those foam swords may not be too effective against a murderous magic demon. That was surely the point of this film. Is following important political and international news a civic duty — or is it our civic duty to avoid it?It's common to think that 'staying informed' and checking the headlines every day is just what responsible adults do. But in today's episode, host Rob Wiblin is joined by economist Bryan Caplan to discuss the book Stop Reading the News: A Manifesto for a Happier, Calmer and Wiser Life — which argues that reading the news both makes us miserable and distorts our understanding of the world. Far from informing us and enabling us to improve the world, consuming the news distracts us, confuses us, and leaves us feeling powerless.Links to learn more, summary, and full transcript. In the first half of the episode, Bryan and Rob discuss various alleged problems with the news, including:That it overwhelmingly provides us with information we can't usefully act on.That it's very non-representative in what it covers, in particular favouring the negative over the positive and the new over the significant. That it obscures the big picture, falling into the trap of thinking 'something important happens every day.'That it's highly addictive, for many people chewing up 10% or more of their waking hours. That regularly checking the news leaves us in a state of constant distraction and less able to engage in deep thought. And plenty more.Bryan and Rob conclude that if you want to understand the world, you're better off blocking news websites and spending your time on Wikipedia, Our World in Data, or reading a textbook. And if you want to generate political change, stop reading about problems you already know exist and instead write your political representative a physical letter — or better yet, go meet them in person. In the second half of the episode, Bryan and Rob cover: Why Bryan is pretty sceptical that AI is going to lead to extreme, rapid changes, or that there's a meaningful chance of it going terribly.Bryan's case that rational irrationality on the part of voters leads to many very harmful policy decisions. How to allocate resources in space.Bryan's experience homeschooling his kids.Producer and editor: Keiran HarrisAudio Engineering Lead: Ben CordellTechnical editing: Simon Monsour and Milo McGuireTranscriptions: Katy Moore

Today, Darin is going to challenge the conventional wisdom of tracking the number of books you read. Instead, we'll explore the power of implementing knowledge gained from reading and how it can make a real impact on your business and life.1. Quality Over Quantity:• Tracking the number of books read may seem impressive, but it doesn't necessarily translate to growth or progress.2. The Power of Implementation:• Knowledge without action is merely information. It's the application of that knowledge that drives success.• By tracking and measuring what you've implemented, you gain insights into what works for you and your business.

From Matthew Janzen of Ministers of the New Covenant Streamed Live Jun 3, 2021 Most people begin speaking on or thinking about the New Covenant with Hebrews 8 or 2 Corinthians 3. That's too late in the game. We should begin - at least - with Jeremiah 31, and then pull from either further than that based on key words in the text. But then, you have a lot of people that read Jeremiah 31:31-34 and stop. They don't finish chapter 31, much less go into chapter 32 and 33. This lesson challenges the traditional thinking about the New Covenant, asking us to delve into the next two chapters in Jeremiah's prophecy, and believe what we read. ~~~ About Matthew and Ministers of the New Covenant: We believe in Yahweh the Father, Almighty Maker of heaven and earth, and in Yeshua the Messiah His only begotten Son, our Master. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Miriam, lived a sinless life according to Torah, and preached the Good News of the Kingdom. He suffered and died as a substitute sacrifice for our sin, and was resurrected on the third day for our justification. Eternal life is this: knowing the Father and His Son, made possible by the gift of the Holy Spirit, a new heart and mind. After this gift, the believer is given the ability to follow Yahweh's holy law. Following this law is the inevitable fruit of regeneration and justification. ~~~~~~~ From Me: Be Good Broadcast I just rebroadcast those spreading The Word Propagate it. Share it. The Real Estate InvestHER Show with Elizabeth Faircloth and Andresa Guidelli
Welcome, ladies! In this minisode of the Real Estate InvestHER Show, Liz and Andresa discuss why you should stop reading real estate books. Before you judge, hear them out! They begin by stating that they are not recommending investing in real estate without proper knowledge or guidance. It is essential to read real estate books and be aware of the different strategies. However, they urge you to expand your library and recommend three books that have helped them in their journey. The first book is "Unreasonable Hospitality" by Will Guidara. This book teaches high-level hospitality, which can be applied to running a real estate business, especially in short-term or mid-term rentals. The second book is "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen" by Adele Faber. Although it's a parenting book, Liz and Andresa believe that communication skills are crucial in building a sustainable real estate business. And the last book is “Radical Compassion” by Tara Brach. A great resource on meditation and mindfulness, written in an interactive and engaging way! There you have it! Don't limit yourself to reading only real estate books. Expand your horizons with different genres that can help improve your mindset and skills as a successful entrepreneur. Quotes · "Reading a book on restaurants may seem unrelated to real estate, but the strategies on high-level hospitality in Unreasonable Hospitality can be applied to your business. Whether you're in short-term or mid-term rentals, this is a must-read for anyone in the hospitality industry.” (02:35 - 03:20) “Why read parenting books? Because if you are building a real estate business, and you are dealing with people; those books can provide great communication insights.” (04:33 - 05:00) · “Even though we have mentors, sometimes to feel alone. And all we need is some sort of guidance and reassurance to our path. A book can be a great tool for that.” (07:27 - 07:37) How To Join the InvestHER Movement 1) InvestHER CON 2023 Scottsdale, Arizona, May 18-19 Generational Wealth - You Come First Here is what you can expect at InvestHER CON 2023: Pre-event network 2 Full days of transformational experiences Access to over 20 Sessions with Keynotes and Speakers Recordings from all sessions Access to investors, mentors, and influencers Mindful networking Opportunities to connect with our sponsors + vendors Coffee and Lunch included Final Reception: Red Party Live 30-day Group Accountability Virtual Session with the Founders Liz and Andresa Exclusive Breakfast for STRIVE members only. I talk about why attention is the most important thing, how to NOT build your instagram profile, stop putting your ambitions ahead of your actions, stop reading and start doing and much more! Enjoy!
