Critics universally panned Wayne Kramer's box office flop Running Scared (2006). Top critics on Rotton Tomatoes rate the film at bleak 27% while fans give the film a superior 79% rating. On IMDB, it is Kramer's highest-rated film, with a respectable 7.3 stars. With standout performances by Paul Walker (The Fast and the Furious), Vera Farmiga (Up In the Air, The Departed), then unknown Cameron Bright (the Twilight Saga), and Chazz Palminteri (A Bronx Tale), Kramer's gritty screenplay is brought to life in a twisted tale that references Grimm's Fairy Tales, Brian De Palma, and John Wayne. Paul and Steve revisit the film's graphic shootouts, car chases, and fight scenes, weighing in on the big question: Who got it right? The critics or the fans?MENTIONSOpening scene shootout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7UdT1BtPRYKidnap scene: https://youtu.be/ZnaF4zql9ds?si=WFfZ6e1XrJb7WjFaHocky rink stand off Part 1: https://youtu.be/IJV7dz2ZEYw?si=gW7t9_jiBkCy5VrjHocky rink stand off Part 2: https://youtu.be/wTwhgAzr5eA?si=1a6EY6s8edK5a2SV Joey and Oleg face the Pimp: https://youtu.be/PYWqo1-thgc?si=CrItUmO3SLrvWmpuTAMMFF Film Freeway: https://filmfreeway.com/TAMMFF FILM FIGHTS WITH FRIENDSDo you listen to our show as an audio podcast? The well received festival film, THE BEACH HOUSE, was acquired by Shudder as the distributor of the movie. July 9th, 2020 was the debut of the movie on the station. Like most films like this, the channel promoted it non-stop. Unlike many small independent features, THE BEACH HOUSE had already garnered over ninety reviews on the Rotton Tomatoes website, with many giving praise. A young college couple, Emily (Liana Liberato) and Randall (Noah Le Gros), head to Randall's father's beach house on Cape Code for a late spring vacation. Being off season, the beaches are mostly empty. When they unexpectedly meet an older couple friendly with Randall's parents, the four enjoy an evening of drink and conversation. However, a bizarre event happens that may change all their lives. This is the first feature length film by director/screenwriter Jeffrey Brown. Though starring mostly unknowns, Jake Weber (MEDIUM and DAWN OF THE DEAD (2004)) also stars giving the movie some name recognition. Dark Discussions takes a look at this very surprising film that goes to some unexpected places.
This week Mike and Tim discuss the career of the late Jack Garner and the evolution of film critics.

Alex & I delve into the films of Mr Explosion, Michael Bay. The man who can single handedly make a reason to just blow something up for the sake of it! We look at some of his most popular films, and discover that some of the most popular in his catalogue were actually rated terribly by Rotton Tomatoes, leading us to go on a tirade about RT! I also lobby for Armageddon being one of his best films, whilst Alex vehemently disagrees. We look at his impact on Hollywood, and how his films are viewed by both critics and the ordinary cinemagoer, looking at why they fare so much stronger with normal people, as opposed to the cretins at The Academy. We also get teary about Stan Lee passing away, minutes before our show went live, as well as a few secrets being revealed by myself, much to Alex's disgust! And not forgetting some amazing songs found in Mr Bay's films.

The record for best reviewed film on Rotton Tomatoes is smashed, James Cameron isn't so sure about Avatar 4 and 5 now (don't worry everyone, you'll still get 2 and 3) and Dave and Tom talk The Disaster Artist, James Franco's movie about making the best worst film in the world: The Room.
Sometimes it's hard to replicate the past. At least that's the case with "Blade Runner 2049". The movie, which had a critic score of 89 and an audience score of 81 on Rotton Tomatoes, doesn't hold up to the original. The sequel is boring, has a bad color palette, terrible sound design and takes away what made the original so great, mystery. 2049 ends with a finite ending, leaving no room for interpretation. The movie was so boring that Patrick got up and walked around the theatre to get his steps in and Allan was checking his watch at an hour in.
