What glory there is in our salvation! Christ has indeed saved us from our sin, freed us from our destiny to death, delivered us from the power of the Devil! There is glory in our salvation, but there is also the great need for humility. After all, our sin is detestable, and it comes with a great cost. Today, we see how deep the care of our Lord is for us, seen through his own care and concern for Peter. Although Peter’s denial was public and clear, Jesus loves him all the same, and here re-establishes him as the head of the apostles. What does Jesus do, what does he say, to affirm Peter’s forgiveness and appoint him to lifelong service?

Three times, Jesus asks Simon Peter, "do you love me?" And three times, Peter answers correctly. But like the church that Peter would come to represent, Peter did not always do so well with questions--especially when his own life was in jeopardy. Patrick Hunnicutt preaches from John 21:15-19.
Jesus said, follow me, what are you going to do?

We hear the word "love" thrown around loosely in our culture. True love is more than a word. It involves action, devotion and commitment. Jesus asked Peter if he loved him. Jesus wanted proof and gave him what He was looking for. This Love test still holds true for those that claim to "Love Jesus."

Like Simon Peter, Jesus asks us this probing question which may well sober us and invade our comfort zone.
The story of Peter and his relationship with Jesus is a powerful example of the vintage love of Jesus - a love that doesn't change even as circumstances do. In Peter's story, we see Jesus' love for Peter is the one unshakeable thread weaving throughout their often rocky relationship.
The concept of seasons requires constant transition and change. Just as much as the seasons shift in the natural, we walk through seasons in life. We may feel differently about each season, loving one and hating the other. But, each season has a purpose. The natural processes a seed experiences through the contrasting seasons bring revelation of the benefits we receive as we transition through life's seasons.
