TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ ALIENATA Spanish-born, Berlin-based Alienata is a self-described sound obsessive whose sets span obscure electro, ACID, dub, IDM, dark disco, jakbeat, hypnotic techno, industrial atmospheres, break beats, cosmic jazz , UK electro, Detroit, Chicago influences and crazy sounds in general. A former philosophy student with a particular interest in mysticism, Alienata began DJing in 2004. She has played at many festivals and clubs such as Krake Festival, Panorama Bar, Suicide Club, Corsica Studios, ADE and Fabric. When behind the decks, Alienata is closely attuned to both internal and external influences, and is unconcerned with providing listeners with an outstanding and energetic experience. It is not strange that legends like Dave Clarke ( who recently played a B2B in ADE ) DJ Stingray, Ben Sims or Ron Morelli have expressed all their support and respect for her. With all that knowledge behind and a true love for music she decided to start her own imprint “Discos Atónicos” in 2017 where she can materialize all its varied influences, counting on legendary artists like Beta Evers, Dez Williams, Artificiero, BS-1 or Cosmic Force. While primarily focusing on DJing, Alienata has released a few different records & remixes in recent years with collaborations with Snuffo of the jacking Snuff Crew & Sync24 -CEO of the legendary UK electro imprint Cultivated Electronics- Her most recent contribution has been to the great Ben Sims ‘Tribology' Compilation, together with artists of the size of Robert Hood, James Ruskin or Mark Broom. Cousins Joshua Doherty and Richard Bevan have been pushing tough underground electronic sounds since 2000. Making their name in part to a series of parties in an abandoned London Underground train station in the first half of the noughties, they founded Seed Records and more recently Balkan Vinyl and have released a steady stream of quality bangers, with a penchant for acid and old rave sounds. Doherty has been running 303-focused parties under the I Love Acid banner since 2007, and in recent years launched an accompanying label, where the likes of Luke Vibert, Snuff Crew, Cardopusher, Perseus Traxx and Affie Yusuf have all released tracks on a limited number of 303 vinyl copies. Their mix for us encompasses unreleased goodies, productions for the likes of Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Hardfloor Records and Craigie Knowes, and plenty of varied licks. *How would you describe your sound?* Sci-fi acid house and hectic electro rave. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* Everything from classic house of Chicago and techno of Detroit in the ‘80s, through to European rave and techno in the ‘90s, and the explosion of genres and ideas since then all over the world. Andrea Solitario aka Andrew Soul is an Italian DJ and producer who made his passion for edgy Chicago, acid and ghetto house public, by playing out and releasing music with artists like Snuff Crew, Hard Ton or Paris Brightledge. His production style also caught the attention of Osunlade hence he released a track on the label sampler in 2014. Andrew Soul´s passion in music lies deeply in the bowels of House, which he elegantly displays on his new mix for our LUVCAST series. Violet is a Portuguese producer and DJ based in London. She was part of RMBA 2008 and since debuting via Wicked Bass Records, Violet's music has been championed by the likes of Matias Aguayo, Snuff Crew and Phillip Sherburne. Last year she joined the Snuff Trax roster, started D55, a record label with her partner Photonz, and was also invited by Matias Aguayo to participate in his album's cover versions project released on Cómeme. She releases regularly on One Eyed Jacks and last March her cover version of Underground Resistance's classic "Transition", with an all-girl squad (featuring A.M.O.R., Nightwave, Nancy Whang, Mamacita, Coco Solid) of vocal collaborations, caught the attention of the Underground Resistance crew. Full of 808s and up-front techno, plus a healthy pinch of X-rated vocals and post-punk, this is a high energy mix perfect for our dirty little rave. Samanta Fox, the super-energetic duo from Berlin are providing the next installment of our LUVCAST mix series. When producer Tomasz “Guiddo” Switala and vocalist Sebastian “Mavin” Magassouba join forces in the studio or on stage, they go by the witty yet catchy name Manhooker. They have a remarkable reputation in Europe’s music capital Berlin where they performed in the fabled Berghain and successively released on Ostgut Ton’s sublabel Unterton. Luv Shack Records aquired one of their tracks for upcoming release LUV011 and in the wake of this collaboration we asked the duo for a contribution to the Luvcast mix series. What we got is a wonderful ride through Manhooker`s musical cosmos: hip-house classics, disco/hip-hop jams, acid and deep house.
