Pat Ruddy may be known to many of you as the owner and course designer of The European Club located at Brittas Bay, Co. Wicklow. That association is central to his story, however, it does not tell the full tale. In addition to course design Mr Ruddy is a Golf Journalist, Author, Bibliophile, Historian and Magazine publisher. A native of Ballymote, Co. Mayo, Ruddy would often cycle 20 miles from his home in Ballymote to play the great coastal links of County Sligo Golf Club at Rosses Point, where he was a member. His early days in Ballymote fueled his love of the game of golf and those that wrote about it like Longhurst, Warren-Wind and Darwin. He completed his first design for Castlecomer GC in 1969 and would go on to make revisions at Ballyliffin (Old), Rosapenna (OTM), County Sligo (Championship) and Donegal (Murvagh) in addition to new courses at Rosapenna (Sandy Hills), Ballyliffin (Glashedy), Druids Glen, Druids Heath, St Margarets and 36 at Club de Golf de l'Île de Montréal in Canada. This is part one of the Pat Ruddy story, we hope you enjoy our chat! Intro and outro music - _Shoreline Serenade by Dye O _- under license from Epidemic Sound Special Guest: Pat Ruddy.
The alphabet soup of new names in the world of renewable and affordable energy gets thicker and thicker. You know LNG, you might know HVO and now we need to add Bio CNG to the list. Bio-compressed Natural Gas is a type of methane that we get from food waste. It could be one of the solutions needed to cut emissions on heavy goods vehicles and Flogas is building a major new CNG terminal at St Margarets in North Dublin. John Rooney, Managing Director of Flogas which is part of the DCC group joined Joe this morning on the show.
Keelings flowers have only been around for almost a century but have grown rapidly since the mid-1990s and now produce 5 million bouquets a year. They've just today announced a major new 8500 sq metre facility in St Margarets in north Dublin which they claim will be the most sustainable of its kind in the country. Steven Devoy the Business Unit Director for the Flowers at Keelings joined Joe this morning on the show to chat about their new investment.

After studying Design at London College of Fashion, Beth Huett opened her clothes shop Dolly Rock in St Margarets in 2011. Beth talks with Steph about getting started and the challenges of being an independent retailer, Brexit, and the Pandemic. Beth closed her shop after almost ten years at the end of 2020, and tells Steph about how she made the decision to avoid administration and take control as much as she could. Beth talks about the sadness she felt, like a heartbreak, but also two years on she can recognise the relief she felt and talks about staying optimistic. The nurses organisation is calling for Worksafe to investigate how seven nurses caught Covid-19 at Waitakere Hospital. They caught the virus after infected residents from St Margarets rest home were moved to the hospital. A review into how the first three nurses caught the disease- has found the hospital was ill prepared for the patients and staff were using broken or poorly fitting protective clothing. RNZ's Health Correspondent Rowan Quinn reports.
Lockdown week 2 (in the UK) and a soundtrack intro from Donna as she reflects on the tunes we each might turn to as we contemplate the long and winding road ahead. Unprecedented for this generation isn't any surprise to God so she encourages us all to reflect on God's goodness and reset our daily routines so we keep connected with him, and to get on (rather than off) social media to stay connected with others. (If you want to watch this session please visit All Souls Church, St Margarets on Facebook.)
On his last Sunday as vicar Richard reached out to 150 "locked rooms" of those listening and watching to All Souls' first livestream in a Coronavirus context. Reflecting on 3 mountain occasions, he considers Jesus as king on the mountain and in the valley and how we each need to remember this truth in these strange times... with the opportunity to do something new with the God who comes to us wherever we are. If you want to watch this session please visit All Souls Church, St Margarets on Facebook :-).

We're back again, with a hiatus haiku. You are most welcome. The podcast that is, and isn't, but was, on holiday is back. Has the hot summer exposed any hidden secrets in your back garden? We catch up with news and remind ourselves which end of the microphone to hold. Rob looks at orange Lego spaceships, papermakers and Studio Ghibli. Jon takes a look at The Design Museum's events arm(s), a comic in the Booker Prize longlist, and a celebration of the BBC Micro. Switching to Mode 0… Pies are from Aldi and St Margarets. A clear dichotomy of pies, if ever there was one.

News: There's a little over two weeks left on Boiling Point, a new adventure for Base Raiders. Please support RPPR by contributing to this project. Synopsis:The Final Revelation gives your Investigators the opportunity to play through a Purist campaign set in the United Kingdom of the 1930s where there is no escape, no comfort and no salvation when faced with the Mythos. Your Investigators are powerless and insignificant; your only choices death, insanity or a quiet life with a shattered mind In the first part of this mini-campaign, a group of scholars investigates the history of a remote Scottish island of St Margaret’s. They find a record of death and madness, as a group of investigators sought out a missing friend on the island. What they found was something far more sinister than they ever imagined.
