This is Miguel from Lower Arizona I want to welcome & thank you all for listening to this very first episode of my new podcast, Cholo Stereo. I’m very excited for all my guests this year & my very first guest is someone I met last year, her name is Summer Dawn & when I got the idea in my head to do this podcast she was one of the first ones I told & naturally I invited her to come talk with me. I thought the conversation was dope, we went over gentrification, white privilege, we talked about Austin ,TX where she lived for a while. Also the graffiti of Isore & our appreciation for their on going tagging in central Tucson & some hip-hop music. So I want to thank everyone that’s supported this idea of my podcast online & I’m going to do my best to bring you dope guests & dope content as well. First episode of Cholo Stereo here we go...

Topics we discussed: -How Summer Dawn got into fitness (her journey, her struggles, her successes) -Why it is important to redefine what failure means in your own life (and how summer did for herself) -How to know when to move on from things that do not serve you -Why you should never let your ambitions run low -Summer’s plan to revolutionize the fitness and health industry -Why it was important for Summer to take a break from social media (and why you should consider it too) -Why having the mindset that your fears will go way might NOT be helpful for actually achieving your goals (ex: is bravery the absence of fear?) -What it means to Pursue a #StrongerSelf __ Some amazing quotes that were said: “You are gonna have times in the future where you feel you cannot get back up… and that’s what I feel like I have when I try to hit my max…. I just feel like I cannot get back up… but that feeling is where you need to stop and get back up no matter what.” “Showing up in your power… that means to know you who are, know that you are worth so much, and I think showing up in that power everyday… it really changes who are you” “Having that mindset of… just continuing to take action no matter what… it really helped me be the person I am today” “Yes, I still have doubts about myself and my own future… and for a while I was dwelling on it and I was feeling really depressed… but I know I had to keep moving forward… and that helped me with my confidence later on knowing that I could actually change… that I could do something about the position I was in” “Your mind is the most powerful tool that you can use in any area of your life… in fitness, in personal life, in development __ You can follow Summer on IG @fitnessallsummer __ Join the Movement. www.thestrongerselfmovement.com And Together We Can Pursue Our #StrongerSelf __ Music by: BVRNOUT & KROMATIKS - Follow Your Heart ft. I had the pleasure of interviewing Summer Dawn Hortillosa about her new one woman show which opens  this Thursday, August 21st. Here's more info:   68 Productions and Jersey City Theater Center present “So What If I Loved You” (SWIILY, for short), a multimedia one-woman show written by and starring Summer Dawn Hortillosa. In the play, a young woman is haunted by memories of a lost lover. Unable to sleep, she remembers various incarnations of this man through two monologues, an original song and films by Alex Pergament and DeukYun Hwang. The entire piece is this woman’s descent from tortured wakefulness into slumber and into a dream. It is about a love that is both good and bad, dead and alive. If you’ve ever loved someone you knew you shouldn’t, or missed someone so much that it kept you up night after night, this play is for you. Original song, "Lions" by Wordsmith & Hammer and performed by Summer Dawn Hortilossa and Luke Koty.   The play makes its world premiere from August 21 to 24 this summer at Jersey City Theater Center‘s Merseles Studios, 339-345 Newark Ave., Jersey City. Shows are August 21-23 at 8 p.m., August 24 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.   Purchase tickets here: http://summerization.wordpress.com/so-what-if-i-loved-you/
