We've been big supporters of Zano, thye have been a sponsor of this show and of our events , and I've personally onboarded scores of people into it. So this one isn't easy for me, and I took a few days before saying anything publicly because I wanted the full picture and I needed to work out where I actually stand. Here's the breakdown. About a month ago Zano pushed a network upgrade through a hard fork. There was a flaw in the new code that nobody caught for an entire month. An inflation bug, meaning whoever found it could mint Zano and Freedom Dollar out of thin air. It surfaced on Friday the 25th when the price dumped around 25 percent and somebody on the team asked why so much was suddenly being sold. Nobody knows how much got created. There's still no public number. A person close to the project said they couldn't confidently establish the amount, which is why they rejected simply buying the fake coins back. The marketing lead told Cointelegraph it was "considerable." Some of it sat in accounts with visible balances and can be counted, but once it got spent into ordinary private outputs it stopped being traceable. That's the tradeoff with a privacy coin, and it's why a clean audit is so difficult. The post-mortem still hasn't been published. So the team faced two bad options. Do nothing and accept that the supply everybody was promised might be meaningless. Or roll back the chain. They rolled it back. First they announced 24 hours, then walked the language back to a "coordinated network upgrade," then rolled back a full month. On this show I get into: Why immutability is the whole point of a blockchain, and what it means when a month of it can be undone. What the speed of that decision tells us about how decentralized the project actually is. The transaction I lost. Three weeks ago I helped a meat vendor at the Bastrop Farmers Market set up a wallet and bought $130 worth of meat with Zano. I've eaten the sausage. When my wallet resyncs I'll have the Zano back and he won't. I'm going to go make that right with him. Why I don't think this was insider action or a cover-up, and why I still think the rollback may have been the right call for the project's survival. The part that bothers me most, which is that the core team didn't catch this for a month while outside parties are running AI across crypto codebases hunting for exactly this. Where I land now. I'm blockchain agnostic. Bitcoin for preserving wealth, Monero for trading outside the system, and why I can't recommend Zano for trading right now even though I want these guys to make it. And the lessons I'm carrying forward about crypto, about counterparty trust, and about why precious metals still have a place in all of this. The catch, and it is the same one we keep coming back to, is that every demo on that stage worked because drawings, model and schedule all sat in one connected place. Most firms listening to this are not there yet.Second, the platform war. In a live keynote demo a planner, an architect and a civil engineer each worked on the same project from one set of data, carried all the way through from design into construction. That is Autodesk Forma's core argument against Procore. If the design already lives in Autodesk, why move it somewhere else to manage the build. The MaintainX acquisition for 3.6 billion dollars closes the final gap. Design in Autodesk, build in Autodesk, operate in Autodesk. Once an owner is on the platform they can mandate it across their entire supply chain. Several Procore customers at the event said they were looking at making the switch.Third, the master builder. Anagnost said Autodesk set out over a decade ago to automate the making of the model and they are very close. His line was that the act of creating a model is not where the value is created. More people at this year's conference than ever before said the industry is heading back to the master builder, the model where one firm both designs and builds, before architect and contractor became separate jobs. He pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of stalking in the death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, with no plea deal on the table — nothing negotiated, nothing traded. On the record, he admitted he stalked Thompson to an investor conference, posed as an investor managing tens of billions of dollars to pin down the exact time and place, printed a gun on a 3D printer, and traveled to New York intending to kill him. He told the judge he knew it was illegal. He offered no remorse and never referred to Thompson as anything but a target. Paulette Thompson watched from the front row, in tears, while he said all of it without emotion. Then his lawyers moved — same day — to dismiss the entirely separate state murder case, arguing double jeopardy, with jury selection in that case already set for September 8. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins Tony Brueski live to walk through what actually happened in that courtroom, why a stalking conviction is on the table for an admitted killing, and what it means that Mangione has now beaten a terrorism charge, the federal death penalty, and may be working on a third win. Federal sentencing is December 18; guidelines suggest twenty-four to thirty years, prosecutors want life, and Mangione just turned twenty-eight.
