After no in-person gatherings last summer, 2020, or this past January, there certainly has to be some curiosity as to what things look like on the other side of a worldwide pandemic that kept people around the globe locked inside, including musicians who suddenly had no gigs, no venues to go to, and certainly a monumental challenge of "can I continue to sustain a career in this industry." Not to mention, with so many businesses impacted by what we all went through, how did they alter their operations to keep going. In this special episode that features audio recorded on-location at the Summer NAMM Show in Nashville just under two weeks ago, views are presented on the state of the music recording industry, including insights from Joe Lamond, the President and CEO of the National Association of Music Merchants as well as guests that he welcomed on-stage during the opening session, representing manufacturers, merchants, etc., and you'll hear from an artist who gave his perspective on coming through the pandemic.

A four-piece rock band from Kentucky that includes two brothers and a cousin. Their latest album was produced by a multi-platinum producer who has also produced for the likes of Sheryl Crow and Tom Petty. Frontier has shared the stage with the likes of Montgomery Gentry, Restless Heart, and Kevin Richardson & Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys. Frontier was also selected to play on the Avid stage at the 2019 Summer NAMM Show in Nashville, where this episode was recorded. The band has released two albums and is hoping to get in the studio and record some new music soon.

Singer, songwriter, guitar player who relocated to Nashville from Boston. Last month he had five performances as part of CMA Fest and his debut EP has accumulated over 400,000 streams on Spotify. He gives us the exclusive with his new song that will be released at the end of next week (on August 2nd), to be followed by an international radio tour. He and his band were chosen to perform at both the Winter NAMM Show in California this past January and the Summer NAMM Show in Nashville last week. Also, he has opened for the likes of Darius Rucker, Kellie Pickler, 38 Special, and Phil Vassar.

Chaplin Kevin Johnstone’s career path has included being a Chicago Suburban fireman, EMT, paramedic and a Navy Corpsman. Johnstone began working for the L.A. Open Golf Tournament in 1977 and orchestrated every possible aspect of this nationally recognized major public event until attaining the position of General Chairman of the 1984 L.A. Open. He took a position at United Expositions and became vice president of sales and provided services to many of the largest trade shows and conventions in the U.S. In 1991, Johnstone joined Advanstar Expositions. In 1994 he became director of the massive NAMM Show. He also produced the Summer NAMM Show a well as events in Germany, China and Russia. After 18 years he left NAMM. Kevin joined Staff Pro Inc., an affiliate of U.S. Security Associates, and managed many events for Staff Pro including the U.S. Open Tennis event, the GRAMMY’s, the Emmy’s, the Coachella and Stagecoach Music and Arts Festivals, to name just a few. Now, as Safety Operations Manager at the Rock Church & Academy he oversees safety operations, event operations, Safety Team Training, CPS Investigations and helps produce of the Annual Church Safety + Security Conference. He is also a commissioned minister. Kevin serves as a Chaplain for San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, Photographer for the Carlsbad Fire Department and is Past Commander and current Chaplain for the American Legion. A Canadian singer, songwriter, and guitar player who was interviewed on-location in Nashville at the Summer NAMM Show, she is also a photography model and hosted two popular TV programs up in her hometown. Last year she released a solo album, but also formed a high energy powerhouse duo. This year she was named the #1 Rock Artist for her area by ReverbNation. She even had a starring role in a theatre production of “Legally Blonde” and also published a blog that achieved worldwide syndication.

A Mississippi-based singer, songwriter, and guitar player who was interviewed on-location in Nashville at the Summer NAMM Show, he has opened for major acts including Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Thompson Square, Brantley Gilbert, Charlie Daniels, 3 Doors Down, and Alabama. He has penned numerous film scores, including on PBS and the CW Television Network. Plus, he had a song featured on a Netflix original series. He is a USO Ambassador Representative and is the founder of the Roots Foundation. He has been working with Grammy award winning producer Skidd Mills towards a new EP.

Recorded on-location in Nashville at the Summer NAMM Show with singer, songwriter, guitar player Shelby Lee Lowe, who released a self-titled album last November. He has opened for major acts such as Charlie Daniels, Cowboy Troy, Sister Hazel, and Confederate Railroad, among others. Last year he secured representation with the same agency that has Garth Brooks and Jason Aldean as clients. Among other live shows, he has played events for the Atlanta Braves and for NASCAR at the Bristol Motor Speedway as well as at CMA Fest. Two years ago he signed with Banner Music as a staff songwriter.

Towne is a Nashville-based powerhouse duo featuring Steevie Steeves, a Pennsylvania -bred, music theater geek, and Jon Decious, a Kentucky boy and former bassist for a punk-rock band. The two talents unexpectedly crossed paths at Skip Ewing’s Horse and Writer Seminar in Wyoming where they immediately connected musically. In this special episode recorded at the Summer NAMM Show they share their musical beginnings, thank their favorite music teachers, and give a powerful LIVE performance of their song, “Hang Ups,” with Decious playing a left-handed Cole Clark acoustic guitar.
