Today we're hearing how veterans are being healed by the power of music, and collaborations with the organization “Songwriting with Soldiers”. Air Force veteran Bruce Anderson, his wife Lesley and SW:S Music Director Jay Clementi share how these weekend retreats pair award-winning songwriters with veterans to create songs that help them tell their story and bring them closure. (Clementi's credits include hit songs with Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, and more) We start with a look at Anderson's deployments during the Global War on Terror. Anderson and his wife Lesley brilliantly recall the troubles he experienced after returning from war, and how they took a chance on attending a SW:S weekend retreat. The Andersons describe the origin of their song, “The Man You Used to Know,” and how writing it with hit songwriter Trent Willmon, was more powerful than any medicine. Jay Clementi describes the “Songwriting with Soldiers” writing process and a new music initiative where select songs from these powerful retreats are fully produced by award-winning Nashville producers and now available on all major streaming platforms. A singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Eliot Lewis has toured the world over as a member of the Daryl Hall & John Oates band, as well as a former member of The Average White Band. Eliot has also been the only musician to appear on every episode of Daryl Hall's popular, "Live From Daryl's House” show all while keeping his own solo career going at a seemingly impossible pace. Over the course of his career he has worked with the music business' elite including, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Joe Walsh, Sammy Hagar, Todd Rundgren,Train, Cheap Trick, Grace Potter, Squeeze, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, Darius Rucker, Gavin DeGraw and many, many others. Having mastered four instruments over the course of his career; guitar, keyboard, bass and drums, Eliot's shows will find him moving from one instrument to another. Equally at home in front of 100 or 15,000, Eliot has performed on the worlds most legendary stages, including Madison Square Garden, Japan's Budokan, Red Rocks, The Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall as well as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan O'Brien, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and many others. Eliot has carved out his own distinctive musical brand and sonic landscape and has written, performed and produced ten solo releases. There are many who shaped Eliot's music and writing. As a guitar player, definitely Jeff Beck who I've been listening to all my life, as well as Billy Gibbons who I had the great fortune of working with recently, and Peter Frampton who I actually jammed with when I was 14 yrs old. I had the amazing experience of meeting and seeing many influential artists when I was a kid mainly at Madison Square Garden in New York City. We wanna hear from you! Send us a message here :) Leaning into his Appalachian roots, Campton, Kentucky-raised viral streamer Tyler Booth has always let the music lead in his career. Drawing inspiration from his rural upbringing and artists like Jamey Johnson, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard, as well as some of the greats native to his area, like Keith Whitley, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapelton, and Tyler Childers, Booth's rootsy, back porch pickin' sound and warm baritone vocals has won favor with well over 1 million collective social fans, who all together have streamed his music over 100 million times.Set to release his upcoming EP Downtown in June, Booth - who's taken the stage with acts like Darius Rucker, Jon Pardi, Brooks & Dunn, Dwight Yoakum, and Johnson himself - kicks off the project with classic country tune “Talkin' White Trash” - out April 4. “I wanted to bring it back a bit more grassroots. Bring it back a bit more to where I began. There's not a ton of production on this project - two songs are just me and a guitar. There's some bluegrass, there's mandolin, flat pickin'. I wanted to bring a bluegrass element, some blues, and a bit of rock.”Support the show

We wanna hear from you! Send us a message here :) Critically acclaimed singer songwriter and rising Country music star, Adam Doleac, is taking the Nashville scene by storm with his unique signature sound. Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Doleac initially chased his big-league dreams with a baseball scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi, but soon realized his true calling was creating music. Self-taught on multiple instruments, Doleac became proficient in guitar, drums, and piano and soon decided to leave the sports world behind to pursue a music career. After a self-written song posted on YouTube propelled him to viral success and helped him secure a publishing deal, Doleac made the move to Nashville and spent several years penning lyrics for notable names including Kane Brown, Lainey Wilson, Dan + Shay, Nate Smith, Gabby Barrett, Darius Rucker, Hootie & the Blowfish, and more. In 2017, his self-titled debut EP produced GOLD-certified song “Famous” and was followed by his debut album, Barstool Whiskey Wonderland, released in 2022. Doleac's most recent album, about: TIME, was released in 2024 and takes the listener through some of his milestone moments in life with the universal message that time is love, and how we spend it is a reflection of who (or what) means the most to us. Now, Doleac has hit the ground running in 2025 with “Bye Heart,” “Dream House,” and new single “Bar Named Jesus” featuring global Country superstar Thomas Rhett. Written by Doleac along with Josh Jenkins and Chris LaCorte, the powerful track explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and finding solace in faith while discovering a sense of belonging in a place of spiritual refuge - represented as "a bar named Jesus." With north of half a billion on-demand audio and video streams to date, Doleac's soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have won over a legion of fans and audiences across the globe. With the release of “Bar Named Jesus,” the critically acclaimed Country troubadour is poised to continue the momentum toward an undoubtedly monumental year. Doleac is currently gearing up to release more new music, and fans can expect to catch Doleac on the road as he continues to solidify his place as a leading voice in Country music. Support the show

Mike Mills of R.E.M. and the Baseball Project and a new supergroup with Darius Rucker is here, and we've got questions: How did R.E.M. come to share all songwriting credits, and why did Mills initially object? What impact did the albums' producers have? Given the bandmates' senses of humor, why wouldn't R.E.M. smile in photographs? Had R.E.M. decided to call it quits before it made Collapse into Now? What songs did Michael Stipe transform in surprising ways when he added lyrics and vocals? Did Stipe complete every song handed to him by Mills, Peter Buck and/or Bill Berry, and if not, would they consider going back to any of them? Have the Michael Shannon/Jason Narducy R.E.M.-celebrating live shows given Mills new perspective on any of those songs or made him want to play them again with his old bandmates? Why hasn't Mills been driven to make a solo album? And what happened when Mills joined Bruce Springsteen on stage? (Photo by Cass Bird.)
