Send us a textKellie Pickler deserves her flowers... I remember this interview before her performance at the Kern County Fair in 2011, and she was by far one of the nicest artists I've interviewed. Longtime fans know her story from Sonic car hop waitress to American Idol to the big time, but behind the scenes Kellie Pickler has also rolled the painful punches of life. I haven't heard what she's been up to lately, but if she or her fans find their way to this episode - find a way to get her back onstage and in the studio! Hear the behind-the-scenes story of a hit songwriter's biggest cut... and biggest bruise! Phillip Lammonds is a songwriter and instrumentalist from the musically rich mountains of North Carolina. He was a founder of The Blue Dogs, a critically acclaimed bluegrass and rock inspired jam band. He then started his family in Pawley's Island, South Carolina while working as a fishing guide, a falconer, and the owner of a real estate company. All the while, he wrote songs and traveled to Nashville to pitch them. After fifteen years, fifty or so trips to Nashville, and cuts on major artists—Hootie and the Blowfish, Josh Turner, Craig Morgan—Phillip moved to music city to pursue songwriting full time. He stepped onto the scene with a publishing deal from Curb Entertainment and a back catalog nearly five hundred songs strong. Phillip's songs have been recorded by artists like Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Edwin McCain, Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler, Mo Pitney, and Dylan Scott. Today, he shares the inside story of one of his biggest cuts… and biggest bruises! Full episodes of “The Hang” are available exclusively in the SongwritingPro.com Member Area. On today's episode of the Cadillac Jack – My Second Act podcast, Donna knows she's not supposed to look, but she just can't help it. This weekend, Donna tagged along with Charlotte to play the role of “wrestling mom” at the state championship in Macon. Now, Donna has played a lot of mom roles, but wrestling was not one she'd checked off the list until now. It's a very violent sport. And the uniforms are very revealing. In more serious news, Kyle Jacobs, a country music songwriter and husband to Kellie Pickler, died by apparent suicide this weekend at the couple's home in Nashville. Kellie was in the house when it happened. Donna and Caddy talk once more about the overwhelming state of our country's mental health crisis and the state of mind someone must be in to make a choice like Kyle did. Please take a moment to check on a loved one and help a stranger. You never know what it might mean to them. We'd love to hear from more of our fans! Have a funny story you want us to share on air, or maybe an experience you don't think we'll believe? Text or call 770-464-6024.

For the first time in seven years, cello rock duo Emil & Dariel made their way back to the Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar platform. The brothers first became noticed when their live performance of Jimi Hendrix's “Purple Rain” became a viral video sensation on YouTube. After that, the duo auditioned for the ninth season of NBC's long-running talent competition America's Got Talent (AGT). Their initial audition received over 3.3 million YouTube views and a standing ovation from veteran AGT judges Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum and former judges Howard Stern and Mel B. Emil & Dariel became part of the Season Nine acts that had the opportunity to perform in front of the nation at Radio City Music Hall, where their covers of songs such as “Satisfaction” and “I Don't Want to Miss a Thing” gave audiences chills. While they were eliminated at the end of the Top 12, Emil & Dariel continued their musical journey. Emil & Dariel released a studio album, Rock Cellos, in 2015 and a live extended play in 2016, which showcased their takes on iconic songs such as “Crazy Train,” “Eye of the Tiger,” “Live & Let Die,” and “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).” They also shared the stage with many superstars such as Apocalyptica, Flo Rida, Kellie Pickler, Robin Thicke, will.i.am, and 2CELLOS. In the first exclusive podcast interview of 2023, Emil & Dariel opened up about their experience on America's Got Talent: All-Stars, including their reaction to Simon Cowell's harsh commentary. They also spoke about how their fans, fellow musicians, and healthcare professionals rallied around them.

This is our 3rd week of Christmas in July and we are watching the Mistletoe Secret. It stars Kellie Pickler as Aria. A local girl who is trying to save her small town by nominating it for the Big Christmas Adventure Show. She's a huge fan but doesn't know that Tyler Hynes, who plays Alex, is actually the brains behind the show. He's visiting her fair hamlet as a ghostwriter. Even as they grow closer his identity must be kept a (shhhhh) secret. In this episode we discuss fake Santa beards and how they = stranger danger, effortlessly work the word dick into a song and caution how friends don't let friends steal their piece of holiday pie. We hope you join us for fake trees and real festivities as we spoil our appetites and the Mistletoe Secret.
The first best-of episode starts off with a never-before-heard, extended interview with Tracy Lawrence talking about his famous tour pranks. Phil then recalls one of his favorite moments of the whole series - getting to hear the behind the music story from Larry Gatlin on how he created one of Phil's all time favorite songs, “I've Done Enough Dying Today.” Next is a special moment for Phil - an interview and performance with his daughter, singer-songwriter Haley Vassar. They talk about her being the inspiration behind Phil's hit “American Child” and discuss the unique dynamic of cowriting as father/daughter, which led to the creation of their song, “This Is Where The End Starts,” which they have both released as artists. Phil transitions into a classic performance with one of his good friends, Kellie Pickler, when they performed the classic country hit “Islands In The Stream,” which they performed nightly on their Christmas tour.Performances:“I've Done Enough Dying Today” - Larry Gatlin“This Is Where The End Starts" - Haley Vassar“Islands In The Stream” - Kellie Pickler & Phil VassarTo stay up to date with Haley Vassar, head on over to https://www.haleyvassar.comTo stay up to date with Tracy Lawrence, head on over to https://www.tracylawrence.com/#!/To stay up to date with Larry Gatlin, head on over to https://www.gatlinbrothers.comTo stay up to date with Kellie Pickler, head on over to https://kelliepickler.comMore info on Songs From The Cellar & details on how to watch the TV series can be found at https://www.songsfromthecellar.comKeep up with Haley Vassar on Social media at:FacebookInstagramTwitterYouTubeSpotifyKeep up with Tracy Lawrence on Social media at:FacebookInstagramTwitterYouTubeSpotifyKeep up with Larry Gatlin on Social media at:FacebookInstagramInstagram (Band)TwitterTwitter (Band)SpotifyKeep up with Kellie Pickler on Social media at:FacebookInstagramTwitterYouTubeSpotifyFollow Phil Vassar and Songs From The Cellar at:FacebookInstagramTwitterYouTubeSpotifyCheck out more awesome podcasts at:American Songwriter Podcast NetworkAnd go!
