This week's episode is about the almost rebrand of Watford Football Club by St Albans based designer, Marcus Dilley, and Portland US based sports logo specialist, Brian Gundell. This summer, Talenthouse advertised a logo rebrand (paid) contest for designers to redesign the iconic Watford FC badge/crest that had been in place for 40 years. Watford are 'The Hornets' and in the past their badge has been depicted as such. In recent years, also affectionately know as 'The Graham Taylor Era' the Watford badge has depicted a Moose looking Hart. Was it time to change, go back to the hornets? That's what this contest was about and there were some great designs submitted. The 'finalist' was a joint effort by Marcus Dilley and Brian Gundell. We talk about their process and story to the point where they just lost out with 40% of the vote against 60% for the current badge. This is what happened...https://www.watfordfc.com/club/club-crest-designs-futurehttps://www.talenthouse.com/i/design-the-new-official-badge-for-watford-football-clubhttps://www.talenthouse.com/i/1632/submission/381702/d7db0b9ahttps://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18049561.watford-supporters-vote-favour-keeping-current-club-crest/

Show Notes: 95% of Millennials feel the words ‘live and let live’ are words to live by, accepting others and being non- judgemental. PRIDE is the global celebration of inclusion and equality, which has been celebrated since the 1970s. Every year thousands of people around the world take to the streets to tell their story and to show their support for an inclusive and equal world, where there is room for everyone. This year marks just 50 years since the Stonewall riots. In this episode you will hear a live recording from an event I hosted with Gay Times and Talenthouse called ‘Evolution of LGBTQ content' where we discuss how brands can ensure authenticity when speaking with an LGBTQ audience. You’ll hear from the amazing Tag Warner CEO of Gay Times and Sarah and Reva who make up the electronic pop-duo NIMMO. Follow SEEMO: Our Website Twitter Instagram Facebook

“Creatives see brands as the modern day Medicis” this quote is from Maya Bogle Co-Founder of Talenthouse this week on the Shiny New Object podcast. Maya has spent the last eight years or so building Talenthouse into a global platform of crowdsourced creativity. But it hasn’t been easy - “I’ve made more mistakes than you can possibly imagine” but her “belief, passion and hardwork” are what have made this a hugely successful business. We hear how Talenthouse was started as a tech-only business until they realised that the ad game is still fundamentally a human one. It was fascinating to me to hear the view that “tech is not defensible - someone will always be able to do it better than you.” Maya’s shiny new object is Creativity at Scale and how the industry needs a solution that delivers on the fact that “advertising is still all about the work, you just need a lot more of it.” She reveals how they are experimenting with AI to sift through their communities creative to work out which ads are most likely to deliver for the brand. Maya doesn’t pull any punches and challenges that agencies can’t deliver “creative at a huge volume and at a great speed that is also culturally relevant.” If you’d like to put a face to my voice I’m speaking at Data Driven Creative New York on November the 7th.

Amos Pizzey is the founder and president of Talenthouse, a platform that houses over 3.1 million creative talents who now have opportunities to work with some of the world's top brands and advertisers. Amos himself began his career at the age of 13, as the drummer for Boy George's Culture Club, and later produced and remixed music for some of the industry's biggest names, from Madonna to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Throughout his career, he has continually recognized the fact that for every artist (fashion, music, graphic design, etc) we know and love, there are dozens, if not 100's of unknowns who have the same - if not better - skills as those in his professional circles. Talenthouse is a means of giving those artists a chance to be seen, heard, collaborate... and make money. On Innovation Crush, Amos walks us through his upbringing, his early career and social difficulties, to the hardships he and his family faced as he attempted to launch Talenthouse, and his one-love philosophies on life and art. Features special guest host, Susan Tie, marketer turned photographer; and a visit from the team behind Lit College Tour. www.talenthouse.com www.litcollegetour.com
