We've talked on Moms Take Ten a lot about our hope of Heaven and the complete restoration that will come on that day. It is a beautiful future that we get to look forward to! But we are living here and now. What good is there here? Quite a lot actually when we begin to look for it, even in the hard, the messy, the ugly. May you find encouragement through this episode and the scriptures below for your now. Verses Referenced (all were CSB unless otherwise noted): Psalm 30:5 Philippians 1:6 CSB and The Voice Genesis 1:31 Ephesians 2:10 Psalm 27:13-14 Zephaniah 3:17 NLT As I said in the episode, there are a lot of things that I do in my parent coaching that help myself, help other parents, see the good that God is doing in the here and now. We work on replacing our toxic beliefs with God's grace-filled truths. We practice naming and calling out the gifts in our children that He placed in them. We look for the opportunities he is giving us to love them in their misbehavior and to guide them to reconciliation. We celebrate the big and little moments of good a lot! If this is an area that you want to grow in and you'd like some support, I'd love to chat with you! Use the links below to connect with me! I am a Connected Families certified parent coach offering small groups for moms, individual parent coaching, and workshops. Most people who believe this is a Biblical idea use 1 Corinthians 10:13 as a support. But Chara helps us understand that the context of this is when we are under temptation, not suffering, and the weight of life's circumstances. The idea that God won't allow us to go through anything we can't bear is just not supported in Scripture. This is not a cause to lose hope, because the hope we have is greater than an easy life. Our circumstances may be more than we can handle, but they are never more than what God can handle.Verses Referenced:1 Corinthians 10:13; Psalm 121:2; Isaiah 41:10; 1 Peter 5:6-7; Exodus 34:6; Deuteronomy 31:8; Acts 7:59-60; Psalm 55:12-14; 1 John 5:3-4Chara's Articles Referenced:10 Popular Statements That Are Theologically Unsound: https://bit.ly/3Ppvuwg4 Reasons Forgiveness Is So Hard and How to Let Go of the Hurt: https://bit.ly/3pn5x5YBooks Referenced:Not God Enough by J.D GreerThe Weight of Glory by C.S. Too many people explain away the toxicity in their relationships with this saying. What does the Bible say about love? It says: love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. In this episode, Chara looks specifically at how love keeps no records of wrongs and does not delight in evil. She looks at the story of Samson as an example of what happens to someone who lives by the notion that love is blind.Verses Referenced: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, Hebrews 5:13-14, Philippians 1:9-10, Judges 13-16, Ephesians 5:11-16, Genesis 16Books Referenced: The Emotionally Destructive Marriage by Leslie VernickArticles Referenced: The God Who Sees by Kara WilliamsEpisode Image Credit: Getty/mightyisland
