Many religious cults claim to believe the Bible and biblical inerrancy. A recent video discussion that included Sam Frost and Andrew Sandlin raised the question about how Gary would answer cults using only the Bible. Their claim seems to be that creeds and confessions are necessary to defend a proper biblical interpretation, but Gary disagrees.

Send us a textWhat do you do when an organization claims to have the truth—but its predictions keep failing? Do you keep trusting them, or do you start asking questions? Jehovah's Witnesses have a long history of failed predictions—Armageddon in 1914, then 1925, then 1975, then “the generation that will not pass.” But instead of admitting they were wrong; they just keep moving the goalposts. And now? Many Jehovah's Witnesses justify it by saying, "Well, it was the closest thing to the truth. But is close good enough? In Hidden Figures, astronaut John Glenn refused to launch until he had the exact number—because his life depended on it. Yet the Watchtower has convinced millions to quit their jobs, avoid college, and never save for retirement based on wrong calculations. JT & Lady Cee break it all down in this explosive episode—showing why ‘almost true' is still false when the stakes are high. If the numbers don't add up, maybe it's time to rethink who's running the calculations.

Send us a textJehovah's Witnesses proudly claim to have "the truth," but what happens when their teachings are put to the test? We take a clean glass of water and introduce a surprising visual experiment that will leave you questioning everything. What do the doctrines of 1914, Blood Transfusions, and Organ Transplants have in common? Why do these teachings matter so much when evaluating the Watchtower's claim to truth? Watch as we reveal how just a few drops can change everything. By the end, you'll have to ask yourself: Would you drink from this glass?
Part 2 As one traces the history of the beginnings of Jehovah's Witnesses, two names are indispensable to the formation and development of this cult: Charles Taze Russell and his successor, Joseph Franklin Rutherford. In the 1830s, a Baptist minister from New York by the name of William Miller began sharing his new-found belief, that Jesus Christ was going to return around the year 1843. This belief began to gain momentum across denominations, and by 1840 it had become a nationwide campaign. This was the birth of what became known as Adventism and it was from this influence that the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society would emerge. In this teaching, we examine the history of the Watch Tower cult from its beginnings until the present day. We review some of its teachings that have changed during this period and critique its peculiar version of the Bible, the New World Translation. Part 1 As of 2023, there are approximately 8.8 million Jehovah's Witnesses globally, spread across 239 countries. Between September 2022 and August 2023, 1.8 billion hours were spent in the field of service publishing the news of Jehovah's Kingdom with an average of 7.3 million Bible studies being conducted each month. If you compare this with the average amount of hours spent in outreach by Evangelicals, it is shameful on the part of us who profess to have the truth. Concerning missionary zeal, one cannot fault Jehovah's Witnesses for their witnessing endeavours – it's in their DNA. What do they have to show for all of this effort? Last year saw just short of 270,000 people baptised into the dedication of Jehovah's service. That's just over a quarter of a million people, won over to a cult! In this introductory teaching, we peel back the veneer of the exterior to uncover what Jehovah's Witnesses believe and teach. From Rosie: About MeRosie was born in Southern CaliforniaCome from large family on both sides of my parents and step parents.I am German and indigenous Mexico descendant.59 years oldHave/ had 2 children,Lost a son, he was sixteen and my mother at a double homicide in 2002.My mother and step father raised me Baptist and non denominational, but went to pentecostal with my neighbor friends.Mom taught me religious biblical texts. As an young 20 year old I started searching for truth. Some sort of religion to save me from abuse I endured at the hands of my step father. My brother and myself had endured to be more exact. My mother was emotionally abused.I went to many other denominations before Jehovahs witnesses. In 1985 I study books and Bible with Jehovahs witnesses. I thought they were decent people and they taught me God hates violence.32 years later, I learned that misogyny, hidden child abuse, domestic violence wS permitted in that organization. Victims were told to not tell anyone of any abuse and bible says you have to stay with abusers. However, for me I escaped 3 times because I didn't agree. I almost died at the hand of my children's father. 1987.Over the years from my 20's, 30's, 40's and early 50's I would leave Jws, go back, leave, go back. .But as of today sine 2019 my journey has stopped completely with Jehovahs Witnesses. The only Journey I have now is freedom from a controlling cult since 2019.I can choose dreams and goals with no guilt if displeasing there god that punishes all who don't conform.I look at our lives, my life as a beautiful flowing river. Each flow of water moves and turns in the bends of a river. Sometimes a river slows or trickles along the way until the next strong rain fall. All the movement in a free flowing river is my life. When a log or large rocks are in the flow of the river, it's my life and the obstacles or change of path that I need to choose to move. Over rocks or large boulders are just what water does, it flows over, around and under to keep moving. My healing journey from childhood abuse and religious abuse was the large boulders in my path of life. At times my river of life did not flow well. It stopped if my decisions were not the best. But once I realized I had to keep moving, nothing could stand in my way. I choose to help others to keep moving on there river of life. That's why I started sharing some of my life on different forms.I love to share kind and caring words to help others. We cannot stop living because others try to suppress who we are.Our lives are beutiful, we have and can have a free flowing spirit within. I have seen in my travels, especially Oregon,...great beauty. And, large rivers make me feel alive. They shimmer in the sun. Life flurishes in a beautiful free flowing body of water. When we recognize in ourselves, " Hey I need to heal," then that person who was in pain releases that block of large boulders from our lives, then the living starts again.Just looking at life in that perspective has Givin me a more renewed sense of loving. Nature in all it's glory can teach us to live again, no matter what part in our life has slowed down, or is trickling slowly....it can come alive again, it will start moving once we can and will decide to journey on and not let obstacles keep us down.Life is to precious to stop living. Leave your logs and rapids and water falls behind. Start your river again, let it shine and let life begin. Writer Elliott Maya (they/them, and "a sprinkle of he/him in, like, a fruity Victorian dandy boy way") has a real way with words, in case you couldn't tell from that parenthetical. Raised in the *extremely* strict Jehovah's Witnesses religion, Lio and their brother were also the only Black kids at their school. As if this weren't enough, Lio started going through puberty quite early, which coincided with them realizing that they were "not like the other girls, in many ways." Lio knew that college was their only chance of escape, so they started working at the age of twelve. Along the way, they attempted to hide their queerness in high school by becoming a gay bully...but in an ironic twist, they ended up becoming "horrifically" attracted to their (also queer) victim. Besides being an absolutely HILARIOUS storyteller, Lio also has Long Covid, and started the group Covid Cautious Queers. We spend the latter half of the episode talking about the ways in which Lio's illness has changed their life, and the (easy!) ways you can help not only them, but everyone in your community.First thing's first: follow Lio on Instagram at @bougiebasquiat, and please please please see their bio for links to their GoFundMe, their Health Hub, and their Ko-fi! You can also follow them on TikTok at @transnaruto, and check out their *gorgeous* website at elliottmaya.com. Last but not least, follow @covidcautiousqueers on Instagram, especially if you're in Southern California. It's Pride Month, y'all - let's be there for Lio!!

This episode will be in english. For a few weeks ago people from Poland, Norway and even Australia, came to Hillerød in Denmark to protest against the Watchtower organisation. Not the individual Jehovahs Witnesses. As you will hear in the interviews the protesters were nice and friendly, and everything happened in peace and order.

On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are concluding our current series comparing well-known and popular religious movements with the doctrines and teachings of biblical Christianity, rightly divided and dispensationally correct. Journey with us to the founding of the Jehovah's Witnesses group, formed in the shadow of the ‘Great Disappointment' of 1844. It is here that a young Charles Taze Russell, spellbound under the false teachings of William Miller, waits in vain for the end of the world to occur on October 22, 1844. But young Charles remains upbeat and optimistic, trudging ever onward to create his own religion movement today known as the Jehovah's Witnesses. On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we show you more than you ever wanted to know about the JW's, their teachings, their literature, and their accuracy on the volume of prophecies they've made over the years. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was founded in 1886 and quickly became the vehicle through which the “Millennial Dawn” movement began distributing their views to others. The group was known as the “Russellites” until 1931 when, due to a split in the organization, it was renamed the Jehovah's Witnesses. The group from which it split became known as the “Bible students.” So the question comes up, are the doctrines and teachings of Jehovah's Witness compatible with biblical Christianity?

In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they explore two American-born religions, both started in the 1800s. Using similar language as Christians but under different names, they have left a lot of Christians wondering what, exactly, they are. In this episode, you'll learn a bit about their history and some compelling evidence to help you determine whether they are Christian, cult or counterfeit. Episode Links For a deeper dive into understanding what separates Christianity from the religions of the world, you may find of interest a series delivered by Dr. White at Mecklenburg Community Church called “So What's the Difference?” The topic of salvation by faith vs. salvation by works was discussed throughout this episode, particularly how they both relate to grace. You may also want to explore a series called “Getting Grace Right” that really helps shed light on the importance of the true meaning of grace. Both Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses challenge the Bible's authority. Check out Dr. White's blog “Does It Matter Which Bible We Use?” to understand the various translations of the Bible. And finally, we encourage you to go back and listen to CCP15: On Denominational Decline. For those of you who are new to Church & Culture, we'd love to invite you to subscribe (for free of course) to the twice-weekly Church & Culture blog and check out the Daily Headline News - a collection of headlines from around the globe each weekday.
It's not the most informative episode but we had a good time.
I've heard many Jehovah's Witnesses say that they are the only religion that does not engage in war, and use this as indication they alone follow God's standards. For a period while I was a Jehovah's Witnesses I believed that. But this self-proclamation of uniqueness is far from correct. Other religions are promptly blamed for their involvement in war, with followers referred to as "children of the Devil slaying their spiritual brothers."(Awake!, December 22, 1985, p.10) Despite claiming to be the only religion to demonstrate neutrality and love, war atrocities pale in comparison to the Watchtower message of Armageddon, which claims "billions" (w93 10/1 p.19) will be slaughtered by Jehovah, never to be resurrected. ________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. Recently I got a lot of flack from a Jehovah's Witness lawyer on TikTok about me stating that the Jehovah's Witness belief that they will never die is false and I was told that I was creating sensation. Well, in this episode I unpack the belief with proof from their very own publications that the doctrine is actually true. The organization is notorious for laying the blame of their false predictions squarely on the rank and file. Rather than saying that Jehovah's Organization or the Governing Body incorrectly promoted a wrong teaching, they say 'people' made the false assumption, shifting blame from the leaders that promoted the teaching. ________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. Fear, manipulation and undue influence all form part of the arsenal that cults use to control members. In this episode I discuss a further five reasons not to become a Jehovah's Witness. Jehovah's Witnesses are generally sincere, clean-living individuals who devote their lives to serving Jehovah in the manner instructed by the Watchtower, which includes regular preaching and attendance at meetings. One of the enjoyable aspects of being a Jehovah's Witness is making friends through the congregation and meeting a diverse range of people through Conventions. This is not, however, unique to being a Jehovah's Witness. Other religions and churches do that too. High control religious groups greatly limit the freedom of their members, based on the belief system of the leaders. The fault lies not with the followers but with the system, particularly the manner in which Watchtower leaders force followers to think and behave. ________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. Charles Manson convinced his followers to murder 9 people in an attempt to incite a race war. Shoko Asahara ordered his followers to release sarin gas in a Tokyo subway killing 13 people.Marshal Applewhite of Heaven's Gate convinced his followers to castrate and kill themselves in the belief that it would help them to ascend to a higher plain. Jim Jones convinced more than 900 of his followers to kill themselves. All this was done by using influence and control techniques. Although the Watch Tower has a history of flip flopping with regard to some of their doctrine, their followers are still encouraged to obey them even if it makes no sense. ________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. Norway, which has a national Church but no national religion, is one of those countries where religion is literally subsidized by taxpayers; the more members you have, the more money your preferred religious (or Humanist) organization receives. Any "religious" group with 50 registered members is eligible to apply for state funding, and over 800 groups receive it. The law is very clear about the types of religious and non-religious organizations that can receive that money. There are, however, some rules that govern that allocation: If a religious or philosophical community, or individuals acting on behalf of the community, commits violence or coercion, makes threats, violates children's rights, violates statutory discrimination prohibitions or in other ways seriously violates the rights and freedoms of others, society may be denied grants or grants may be suspended. This video breaks down the reasons behind the defunding of Jehovah's Witnesses in Norway. ________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. Amongst Jehovah's Witnesses it was memorial season. It was celebrated memorial will be celebrated on the 15th of April this year of 2022. It is a big occasion for Jehovah's Witnesses as people get invited to attend. Interested ones, family members who have faded away from the religion, even those who have been disfellowshipped are invited. Although they end up sitting in the back of Kingdom Hall. Core to Watch Tower doctrine is that only 144,000 humans will go to heaven, where they are to rule as kings and priests. This number is based on misinterpretation of Revelation 7 and 14, and also proven false by Watchtower's own statistics of the number of partakers since Jesus. Most Jehovah's Witnesses are not considered part of the 144,000 and do not expect to go to heaven. Rather, they believe themselves part of the Great Crowd that will never die, but rather reside forever on earth. One of the results of this doctrine is that most Jehovah's Witnesses do not partake of the bread and wine emblems in memorial of the death of Jesus. Only remnants of the 144,000 are permitted to. __________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. The one doctrine that has always been a despicable practice with regard to the Jehovah's Witnesses and many cults and high control groups is the practice of disfellowhipping. Jehovah's Witnesses were recently fined 12000 Euros in Belgium due to this practice of disfellowshipping and shunning. The court ruled that the non-profit association behind Jehovah's Witnesses is guilty of inciting discrimination and hatred or violence against former members. One of the lawyers of the civil parties said during the trial last month, “The Jehovah's Witnesses' shunning policy cuts to the very core of relationships, and the victims suffer both physical and psychological consequences.” In this video I discuss the effects of this policy on its members. ___________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. Watchtower has made a number of changes to the elder arrangement throughout their history. Whilst policy changes are acceptable, the way this has been done indicates human direction and not that of God, despite Watchtower claims to the contrary. There's a new elders manual that has just been released by the Watchtower. It is called Shepherd The Flock of God and as with every iteration there are changes of course. One of the changes that is particularly concerning is their view of elders and the responsibility that is handed down to them especially in light of their age ___________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. Today's show is about a verdict that was handed down to two Jehovah's Witness elders who failed to report child sex abuse. This reaches back to 2006 to a Spanish congregation in Illinois. And in this case, the elders left the thinking to the organization. They left a moral obligation to be decided by somebody else. They left it to the Watch Tower. Ultimately, they pay the price for the undue influence exerted over them. In the end children suffer because it is better to protect the reputation of the organization than protecting the little children from abuse. ___________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. I have been travelling over the past few weeks and its been a busy time for me. South Africa, in conjunction with international authorities have identified and a cyber cult operating in South Africa called Black Axe. Black Axe, a crime syndicate operating in several countries around the world, has been exposed in South Africa via an international investigation that initially focused on Ireland. Some authorities view the syndicate, also known as the Neo Black Movement of Africa, as a cult. Its South African wing allegedly has security known as “butchers” to maintain discipline. ___________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon. South Africans went to the polls this week to vote in the local government elections, however, thousands of Jehovah's Witnesses did not. And that's because they are faced with a conundrum. Are they allowed to vote, or are they not allowed to vote? It is a dilemma that they face which is quite understandable, looking at the history of the Watchtower's standpoint on issues of a political nature. Jehovah's Witnesses are known to be politically neutral and for refusing to vote. They have suffered imprisonment and even death for abstaining from involvement in political affairs. But the Watchtower's writings have been very very misleading and proves once again how their doctrines do not hold up in the face of scrutiny due to their flip flops on these matters. ___________________________________________________________________ If you would like to support the work I do and would like to see this channel grow please consider supporting me on Patreon.
