This week on Brown Ambition, Mandi sits down with the incredible Monique Rodriguez, founder of the powerhouse haircare brand Mielle Organics and author of the new book, The Glory in Your Story: Activating a Fearless Faith to Change Your Life, Your Career, and the World. From her kitchen table to a billion-dollar acquisition by P&G, Monique's journey is a masterclass in faith, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit. This episode is for anyone who's ever faced adversity and dared to dream bigger, for the aspiring entrepreneur needing that push, and for every Black woman who knows the power of her own story and is navigating partnership in all its forms. Tune in to hear Monique's transparent take on:* The P&G acquisition: What *really* changed (and what absolutely didn't!), her non-negotiables in the deal, and her message to the community.* Staying true to her vision: How she remains CEO and the driving force behind Mielle's DNA.* The "Tariff Tea": How global trade impacts Black-owned businesses and what it could mean for your beauty budget.* Paying it Forward: How Monique and her husband, Melvin, are now angel investing in other Black-owned businesses.* Building a Brand Beyond Social Media: The power of community, networking (and a little "healthy stalking"!).* **Partnership, Femininity & Faith:** Monique shares her perspective on embracing feminine energy in leadership and dives into the often-triggering word "submission" within her marriage – what it means to her and what it absolutely doesn't.* Her new book, "The Glory in Your Story": Why she penned this powerful guide and how owning your narrative can change your life.* The complexities of sisterhood in the business world.* Balancing a billion-dollar brand, marriage (to her business partner!), and motherhood. ### Guest Spotlight:**Monique Rodriguez** is the founder and CEO of Mielle Organics, a global beauty brand she launched in 2014. A former registered nurse, Monique built Mielle from the ground up, fueled by her passion for healthy hair and her deep faith. Her brand was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 2023, with Monique remaining at the helm. She is also the author of "The Glory in Your Story: Activating a Fearless Faith to Change Your Life, Your Career, and the World." ### Key Discussion Points:* **[01:41] The P&G Acquisition Unpacked:** Monique addresses the critics, shares what it's *really* like working with a conglomerate, and why it was crucial for her to remain CEO and protect Mielle's formulas.* **[05:25] A Call for Community Support:** Monique discusses the impact of criticism on Black brands seeking investment and acquisition.* **[08:17] Leading Lady:** Monique clarifies her role – she works for Mielle and her customers, not P&G.* **[10:43] Tariffs & Your Wallet:** How international trade policies can affect the price of your favorite products.* **[13:27] From Mentee to Mentor:** The story of Richelieu Dennis's early investment and how Monique is now supporting other Black founders.* **[16:04] Faith as a Foundation:** How Monique's faith guided her through profound grief and inspired the creation of Mielle.* **[19:46] Beyond Analysis Paralysis:** Actionable advice on networking and getting your product into the right hands.* **[21:46] "The Glory in Your Story":** Monique shares the inspiration behind her new book and its message of hope and empowerment.* **[26:06] Social Media Sanity:** Monique's evolved relationship with social media and tips for maintaining balance.* **[30:19] Building Community Offline:** The importance of in-person engagement for brand growth.* **[32:00] Navigating Sisterhood & Business:** Monique's honest take on support (and lack thereof) from other women.* **[36:27] Partnership in Business & Life:** Monique shares gems on navigating business and marriage with her husband, Melvin, emphasizing grace, shared mission, complementing strengths, and respecting boundaries.* **[42:00] Feminine Energy & Redefining Submission:** Monique delves into the power of embracing her femininity in business and personal life. She offers her perspective on the biblical concept of submission in marriage, clarifying it as trusting her husband's earned leadership while retaining her voice and strength, rather than shrinking herself. Memorable Quotes:* "No one knows what goes on in that negotiating room... It's in my contract that I wanted to still be CEO and still make the decisions for the brand." - Monique Rodriguez* "When someone received the abundance of what we're complaining that we don't have, we tear them down for that... It causes investors...to now take a pause and say, 'Do we want to acquire black brands?'" - Monique Rodriguez* "I felt that God was using one of our darkest painful moments to birth purpose." - Monique Rodriguez* "Stop wandering and just go. Start going out there, meeting people...stop trying to worry or figure out how it's gonna get done because it can cause what you call analysis paralysis." - Monique Rodriguez* "No one can make fun of you for your own story if you have owned it and told it yourself." - Monique Rodriguez* "I never felt that I had to lose my softness to run a company... When you combine femininity, your power and your purpose, that is a great dynamic duo together." - Monique Rodriguez* "When women think submissive, it thinks like, I have to shrink who I am. I can't speak up... To me, it doesn't mean that I have to shrink who I am. It doesn't mean that I don't have a voice... It means that I can fully embrace being a woman and letting you lead because I trust you to lead." - Monique Rodriguez Follow Monique: https://www.instagram.com/exquisitemo/ Don't forget to subscribe to Brown Ambition for more inspiring conversations! When we share the Gospel message, we are often considered fools. It's not the Gospel's fault and it's not God's fault. The problem lies with the heart of the person you are talking with. Our message is not foolish-it's the people who listen but fail to accept Christ who are foolish. “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believers. To the Jew first, but also to the gentiles” (Romans 116). It's in the uncompromising Gospel where the power of God resides. And it's in the uncompromising Gospels is where the power to save and to change people's lives is. So, let's worry more about giving out the true message of the Cross and a lot less about what people think of us. If we do that, lives will change, and the world will never be the same-but for the better. Please SUBSCRIBE as a free way to help support this channel!JOIN our Community at: www.StevenGarofalo.ComBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/reason-for-truth--2774396/support.

The nuclear family is the backbone of a strong society—without it, we will crumble. In this episode, we're talking about Elon Musk's latest love child with Ashley St. Clair and why Conservatives cannot fall into the trap of normalizing single motherhood and reckless men who create broken families. Strong individuals come from strong families. When the family unit collapses, people become weak, directionless, and ultimately easier for the government to exploit. The more broken the home, the more dependent the individual. And guess who loves that? The people in power who want control over your life. So, we are talking biblical gender roles, marriage, family, and why morals will always matter—even if they stop mattering to everyone else. A father's leadership and a mother's nurturing aren't interchangeable, and no amount of modern delusion will change that. Children need both a mother and a father in the home. And no, morals don't change for you once you're rich. Wh*re culture needs to die because the next generation is at stake.--https://policecoffee.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooc599VmOCGa3oE2DnVcJ4uLA69XDoBZf8ChiOpFqVfKc_BASiR

When you think about Christmas, what is the song that is the soundtrack for this season of your life? Maybe it's Joy to the World, O Holy Night, or White Christmas. But have you ever thought about the very first Christmas song that was ever sung?A lot of us would probably think it's Hark! The Herald Angels Sing from Luke 2:14. But that wasn't the first Christmas song. The first Christmas song actually came nine months before that – it was Mary's song. This time of year isn't the same for everyone. There are many who struggle with the holidays and many who may be coming out of a season of suffering. Today on Fearless, I'm taking a look at Mary's story. I hope it is a reminder that, despite what we have going on, we are to be like Mary and praise God despite our worldly circumstances. The Christmas season is full of joy, but it is also full of stress. And that's how it was when Christ was bornborn into a scandalous situation, into an occupied nation, under an oppressive regime, ruled by a maniac - murderous, governor, forced to escape as a refugee to a foreign country - a time of joy and anxiety. Perhaps that's why four times in the birth narratives the angels say Do not be afraid. This month teacher, Rick Atchley is exploring why Christmas should make us bold; because there's something about Jesus coming that makes fear leave. Many years ago I had a decision to make - should I invite kids to my wedding or not? Brides can have such a vision for how they want their big day to go but do we allow this “picture perfect” dream to get in the way of showing kids the beauty of weddings and marriage? Bigger than this one day, do Christians cut children out of critical moments that can show them what we really hold dear? On today's episode I bring on a few behind-the-scenes friends to help me have a discussion about how we should “walk the talk” of what we believe as Christians. It's hard to believe Election Day is tomorrow. No matter which side of the aisle you're on, we can be sure there is a battle still in front of us – but the battle ahead is not ours, it's God's. We need to remember to trust God. We don't know what the results of the election will be, but God does and we can trust Him with tomorrow. We do not have to live in fear or with anxious hearts; we can stand in strength because we know who holds our future.Today on Fearless, I want you to be encouraged that we all can live fearlessly and confidently in the hope of Jesus Christ. If you've missed any of the episodes in the Election Series, I encourage you to catch up at https://cissiegrahamlynch.com. The stories of fearless faith of others are powerful. But it is interesting that as you dig into the stories, that it is not something special about the person that allowed them to be fearless, it is what God has given them that equips them to be fearless. God, through the saving work of Jesus and through the powerful work of the Holy Spirit, gives fearless faith to people, who are then emboldened to stand firm in the face of difficult trials. Faith like this is desirable and faith like this comes from God's powerful Word - which creates/strengthens faith. Join us as we dig into the story of the first Lutheran Martyrs - Jan Van Essen and Hendrick Voes, as well as the well-known story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
In this election process–no matter what happens in the next few weeks–our battle is not between political parties. It's the epic spiritual battle of good versus evil, truth versus lies. With the election less than two weeks away, we need to prepare ourselves and our families for what lies ahead. We have seen so much divisiveness in the last seven years and that isn't going to change on Nov. 5. No matter who wins our focus and priorities do not change. We need to be prepared to fight for our beliefs, our children, and for the future of our country. We need to stand for truth, fight against evil, and never compromise. Whether it's agenda-based curriculum in schools, gender confusion, and abortion, or religious freedom, immigration, and the impact of the economy, if we do nothing evil will fill the gap. Today on Fearless, I want to remind everyone that we cannot sit silent on the sidelines. If you've missed any of the episodes in the Election Series, I encourage you to catch up at https://cissiegrahamlynch.com. Many people think we shouldn't talk about religion and politics. But one of the most essential rights we have as Americans is the right to free exercise of religion. In fact, it was so important to the founding fathers that they included it in the first sentence of the Bill of Rights. This has been a beacon of hope to those in other countries where people are persecuted for their religion. Yet, so many in our country want to take those rights away – claiming separation of church and state.Today, on the #FearlessPodcast I'm taking a look at the stories of people in the U.S. who have faced persecution and not backed down. My grandfather, Billy Graham, once said, “Let us stand for political freedom, moral freedom, religious freedom, and all the rights of all Americans, and let's never give in to those who would attempt to take it from us.” We pray that a new generation of believers will rise up to stand for the truth of God's Word.If you've missed any of the episodes in the Election Series, I encourage you to catch up at https://cissiegrahamlynch.com. What would you do if your child decided to identify as a bird and thought they could fly off of the stairs? You would stop them to protect them from getting hurt. Yet today many children are being influenced to harm themselves through body mutilation and toxic, life-altering drugs because they ‘identify' as something they are not – and parents, doctors and the government are not only complying, they are advocating for it. Before gender identity was ever a political issue, it was a Biblical issue. Genesis 1:27 says, “And God made man in His own likeness. In the likeness of God He made him. He made both male and female.” We don't define our gender – only God can define who we are. Today, on the #FearlessPodcast, I'm talking about what parents can do to protect our kids from this evil and serious issue when advocates of gender reassignment are coming after our children. Today on the #FearlessPodcast, my friends Bethany and Josh Bidwell are joining me to share the battle they faced with their children in the public school system in Oregon. While Oregon is known to be a hotbed for the progressive, secular agenda, the perverse and disturbing depravity their children were exposed to solidified their decision to move them to a private school. Our education system is actively taking steps to indoctrinate our children – and they don't want parents to know. Whether it's Critical Race Theory, gender theory, or social Marxism, many anti-Biblical and anti-American ideologies which are destructive to the core traditional values many families have are shaping future generations. While putting kids in private school or homeschooling isn't always an option, being informed is the first step to making a change. Parents need to know what their kids are being taught – and who is teaching them – and take steps to make sure their voices and concerns are heard. Our greatest mission field is our kitchen table. And if we aren't talking to our kids about these issues, the schools will. When parents demonstrate a Christ-like attitude and teach a foundation of Biblical truth to our children, the more they will understand God's Word for themselves and be able to reject the lies of this world. Who will preserve and protect the most vulnerable people in our society? I've talked about abortion on the #FearlessPodcast many times. This is one of those topics that people seem to confuse between being a personal/political issue or a Biblical one. But the Bible is very clear – Thou shall not kill. These are four simple words that have literally divided this nation and the churches within it. When Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, the press and social media misinformation was used to scare women. Yet, this “right” has not been taken away and it's not the only option. The decision to have an abortion used to be a last resort. Out of desperation or fear, women thought they didn't have a choice. But now it is championed. It's paraded. It's bragged about. It shouted about from steps at our Capitol. It's become an active form of birth control. Far too many people – Christian or not – have sat silent because we all know someone (whether we are aware of it or not) who has faced this unfathomable “choice.” One out of four women in the U.S. have had an abortion. It's up to the church to show love and support to these women and children through these difficult circumstances and let them know it's never too late for God's grace and forgiveness. Today on the #FearlessPodcast, I'm tackling reproductive rights – one of the 8 topics in my Election Prayer Guide – and why it's so important to know what your state and elected officials' stance is on this issue that affects the future of our nation. We lock the front door of our house to protect our family. If you wouldn't let a person you don't know walk into your home, why would you want someone who is unknown walking into the front door of our country? Immigration and national security are tough topics for many Christians. We are called to love our neighbor and take care of the widows and orphans. But we also called to submit to the governing authority. My dad has said the job of the church is to love people, but the job of the government is to provide careful security for its citizens. This is another issue that is not just political, but it's Biblical. Today on the #FearlessPodcast, I'm taking a look at what the Bible says about immigration and national security – one of the 8 topics our families are facing which are covered in my Election Prayer Guide. Sitting down with humble, sincere and genuine people never gets old.Today on the Strong By Design podcast hosts Jared Haley and Chris Wilson are blessed to speak with animator and story teller Davy Liu and award winning actor Ben Davies.Live from Rise Up Con in Sevierville, TN., these two men are using their amazing talents to spread God's truth through storytelling. Davy Liu, an outstanding animator who worked for Disney for several years on projects like Mulan, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast decided it was time to do things his way. Now he uses Jesus as the example in his storytelling on screen and in his children's books. As Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." His character 'Kendu' comes from this powerful scripture.Ben Davies, an award-winning actor from films Courageous, Fearless Faith, I'm Not Ashamed, Vindication and many more might be one of the kindest, most humble people you ever meet. Interestingly Ben was also a top-level athlete, at one time he was ranked the No. 1 high school decathlete in the country and went on to collegiate track and field at the University of Florida. Ben has landed the lead role in twenty feature films while earning awards and nominations for 'Best Male Actor" in five film festivals.Hope you enjoy our conversations with these extraordinary men!"Our God is almighty. Chaos and confusion are all around us. June is a month filled with rainbows and Pride parades and messages that “love is love.” We live in a time when we see a growing hatred towards Christians and a biblical worldview. These attacks and confusion are especially strong during “Pride Month.” The Bible tells us that “Pride goes before destruction…”(Proverbs 16:18). So how do we make sure that we are protecting our families and teaching our children truth when the world is telling them that we are to accept and embrace the LGBTQ agenda? Today on the #FearlessPodcast, I want to remind you that God and His Word never change. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to stand firm and remember that showing love is never compromising God's commandments.
