When Mattie Mitchell was watching her great-grandchildren at their Wichita, Kansas home, she decided to lie down and go to sleep with them. After all, what could be safer than keeping the little ones close? But when Mattie woke up at around 3 am on September 5, 2001, her four-year-old great-grandaughter, Jaquilla Scales was gone. Mattie wasn't sure what had happened, just that Jaquilla had disappeared while she and Jaquilla's two-year-old brother Marcus peacefully slept. An intense search was launched, but Wichita Police weren't able to find the little girl. If she had wandered off, surely she would have been found. Now, for over 20 years, Jaquilla's family has been searching for answers, and begging the world not to forget the boisterous little girl who vanished in the middle of the night. If you have information regarding the disappearance of Jaquilla Scales, you're asked to contact WPD investigators at 316-268-4379 or email the Cold Case Unit at coldcase@wichita.gov. Episode 98 Krista Martin In October 1989, Krista Martin was found bludgeoned and raped in her apartment in Wichita, Kansas. Krista was a very social young woman with lots of friends and quite a bit of drama in her life – none of which led to her murder. Police investigated thoroughly, but were stumped for years. Krista's case went cold until the WPD reopened it in 2020 with a focus on the DNA evidence. Like most of DNA: ID's cases, this case never would have been solved without forensic genealogy – but in this case, the genealogical analysis uncovered a misattributed parentage event, and left one family relieved and thankful to have answers, and one family in complete denial and anger. We still don't know what happened between Krista and Paul Hart on that day in 1989. But we do know the he lived just six houses away from Krista, and that he killed her. Evers using his strongest in the nation veto pen to drag the Speaker Vos and GOP leadership to the negotiating table. We are disgusted by the verdict in the Wauwatosa “protestor list” trial, where a federal jury cleared the WPD of all charges. This unique gathering was organised as part of the launch of the book ‘Strictly No Admittance!', which tells the definitive history of the lightweight E-type programme. The first Lightweight built, 4 WPD, (which took 4 victories in 1963 piloted by then F1 World Champion Graham Hill and one further win in 1964 piloted by a then promising young Scot called Jackie Stewart) was brought over to the event on behalf of owner Shaun Lynne by keepers CKL Engineering, who maintain the car. This interview was the first time the team have been together with a Lightweight E-type since the factory racing programme ceased in late 1964 but the bonds of friendship this small programme wrought were obvious to see as they discussed the car's details and shared memories. The team's thoughts were recorded in this interview conducted by Wayne Scott for the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, this episode presents the second of the two-part series. You can hear part 1 in episode 86 of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club Podcast.
