Episode 98 Krista Martin In October 1989, Krista Martin was found bludgeoned and raped in her apartment in Wichita, Kansas. Krista was a very social young woman with lots of friends and quite a bit of drama in her life – none of which led to her murder. Police investigated thoroughly, but were stumped for years. Krista's case went cold until the WPD reopened it in 2020 with a focus on the DNA evidence. Like most of DNA: ID's cases, this case never would have been solved without forensic genealogy – but in this case, the genealogical analysis uncovered a misattributed parentage event, and left one family relieved and thankful to have answers, and one family in complete denial and anger. We still don't know what happened between Krista and Paul Hart on that day in 1989. But we do know the he lived just six houses away from Krista, and that he killed her. Kev, James and Tony are back together for another edition of the Luton Town Supporters' Trust podcast and in this first part they reflect on events since the last episode. The podcast begins with a look back at the five matches which have been played since the international break, including those two wonderful wins over Easter, before the boys focus in detail on the form of Robert Snodgrass and Fred Onyedinma. This first part of the podcast concludes with a look at the news that Paul Hart has taken over the academy, replacing Andy Awford in the role. The boys discuss what that means for the future of the club.
Kev caught up with Luton Town first team coach Chris Cohen after training to get the latest thoughts from inside the Hatters' camp. Listen to this bonus episode of the podcast to get the thoughts on the two matches since the international break, how the final eight games of the season compare to when football resumed after the initial Covid lockdown and how the season has gone as a whole so far. The conversation then turns to what we can expect over the final six matches of the season with a focus on the next two in particular, how it is about holding our nerve on and off the pitch and achieving what we deserve. The podcast then concludes with Kev getting the thoughts of Chris regarding the move which saw Paul Hart take over the running of the academy and how good that is for the future of the club.

Educators don't get nearly enough credit, especially with the unique challenges that have been brought on by the pandemic. How do you switch from in-person to online learning overnight, with little to no training? What are the real-world opportunities that kids face when they no longer have the connection that schools provide? And how are teachers and their students coping with new modalities being thrown at them every single day? Today the NERDS are joined by educator Paul Hart, a Kindergarten teacher who shares his top three lessons learned from this time of Covid. Paul's stories and insights are incredibly powerful and will inspire the teacher that lies in all of us. Abby Dawson fills in for Dan this week and does more than an admirable job doing so (you might be in trouble Dan). So, sit back and be ready to be inspired! If you are an educator and have stories to tell, or if you would like to join in on the discussion, please email us at learningnerdscast@gmail.com.
All of us have either had a giant to face, are currently facing a giant, or will have to face a giant in our lives. The ‘giant' of a new endeavor: a marriage, a new job... the ‘giant,' of a conflict that you would rather not deal with... maybe with a friend, co-worker, a boss... maybe in your marriage or relationship. And if we are really honest with ourselves, the ‘giants' inside of us... our pride, shame, guilt, low self-esteem... The truth of the matter is that giants never back down. Giants don't have mercy and give you space or time to manage your reaction to the giant. Giants taunt and tower over their would-be victims. The only remedy to rid oneself of the giant is to face it. Join us this Tuesday as we speak with Paul Hart and relate a familiar allegory in which the main character must face his own literal giant. If you have anything in your life that feels like a giant that you have been seeking courage to fight back against, this is a must listen.

I recently stumbled upon an album by The National Pool called "Relaxation Tape for Solo Space Travel." https://infraction.bandcamp.com/album/relaxation-tape-for-solo-space-travel First of all, what a great title! And second, what fantastic cover art! When I heard the song "Simpler Times" I knew that I had to buy the album and I knew that I had to make a mix with an retro, analog, space sound. So I set about collecting tunes that sound like they could have come from an old space science filmstrip. Some of the music is from current artists like Boards of Canada, Air, The Belbury Circle, Panabrite, Cafe Kaput, Moon Wiring Club, Schengen and Lunar Testing Lab. But mixed in there is also old electronic music from Eric Vann, Paul Hart, Alan Hawkshaw and Frank Comstock. Much of the old music has a sort of cheesy, retro vibe that I love in a mix like this. Grab some Tang and kick back for this journey to the moon and beyond. Cheers!
