The 1001 RADIO DAYS podcast is an outstanding source of quality entertainment for fans of classic radio. As someone who appreciates the nostalgia and charm of old-time radio, I am thrilled to have a one-stop shop that provides such a wide variety of shows. The host, Jon Hagadorn, does a fantastic job curating and presenting the episodes, making each one a delightful experience. Whether it's the thrilling adventures of Bob Bailey as Johnny Dollar or the insightful tidbits about vintage movies, every episode is filled with engaging content that keeps me coming back for more.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the diverse range of shows available. From drama and mystery to comedy and science fiction, there is something for everyone. I particularly enjoy trying to solve each case in the mystery episodes during my morning walks. It adds an interactive element to the listening experience and keeps me engaged throughout. Additionally, Hagadorn's hosting skills are top-notch. He is a great host and narrator, providing insightful commentary while also infusing a sense of nostalgia into each episode.
However, there are some minor drawbacks to this podcast. Some listeners have mentioned difficulties with the latest changes or updates made to the platform. They find it hard to know if they have downloaded a program and struggle to delete played programs altogether. While these technical issues may be frustrating for some users, they do not detract from the overall content and enjoyment provided by the podcast.
In conclusion, The 1001 RADIO DAYS podcast is a must-listen for fans of classic radio and vintage movies. With its wide range of shows and exceptional hosting by Jon Hagadorn, it offers quality entertainment that transports listeners back in time. Despite minor technical issues reported by some users, this podcast remains an excellent source of nostalgia and enjoyable storytelling. What's My Line was a popular TV quiz show in which a goup of panelists attempt to guess the profession of each of three guests who appear throughout the show. The final guest is usually a celebrity.
Dragnet, the brainchild of Jack Webb, may very well be the most well-remembered, and the best, radio police drama series. From September, 1949 through February 1957, Dragnet's 30 minute shows, broadcast on NBC, brought to radio true police stories in a low-key, documentary style. The origins of Dragnet can be traced to a semi-documentary film, "He Walked by Night" from 1948, in which Webb had a small role. Both employed the same Los Angeles Police Department technical adviser, used actual police cases and presented the case in "just the facts" manner that became a hallmark of Dragnet. It is interesting to note that Webb employed that format in other radio series, some pre-dating the film mentioned above. Dragnet was a long running radio and television police procedural drama, about the cases of a dedicated Los Angeles police detective, Sergeant Joe Friday, and his partners. The show takes its name from an actual police term, a dragnet, meaning a system of coordinated measures for apprehending criminals or suspects. Dragnet was perhaps the most famous and influential police procedural drama in American media history. The series gave millions of Americans a feel for the boredom and drudgery, as well as the danger and heroism, of real life police work. Dragnet earned praise for improving the public opinion of police officers.

Dragnet was the #1 cop/detective radio show of the 50's and early 60's. Jack webb starred as Detective Friday and went with the show when it moved to tv and stayed until the late 60's. Enjoy hundreds of archived episodes at www.bestof1001stories.com- our new webwsite!

Each episode of The Whistler began with the sound of footsteps and a person whistling.[1] (The Saint radio series with Vincent Price used a similar opening.) The haunting signature theme tune was composed by Wilbur Hatch and featured Dorothy Roberts whistling with an orchestra.[2] A character known only as the Whistler was the host and narrator of the tales, which focused on crime and fate. He often commented directly upon the action in the manner of a Greek chorus, taunting the characters, guilty or innocent, from an omniscient perspective. The stories followed a formula in which a person's criminal acts were typically revealed either by an overlooked but important detail or by the criminal's own stupidity. An ironic ending, often grim, was a key feature of each episode. But on rare occasions, such as "Christmas Bonus" broadcast on Christmas Day 1944, the plot's twist of fate caused the story to end happily for the protagonist.
