Helen Brach was the wealthy heiress to the Brach candy fortune, living a life of privilege in Chicago. In February 1977, she traveled to the Mayo Clinic for a routine medical visit and was expected to return home shortly afterward. Instead, she vanished. Her houseman claimed she returned home briefly before leaving for Florida, but investigators quickly noticed inconsistencies in his story. Suspicious purchases appeared soon after, including a large meat grinder and an unusually thorough cleaning of her home.As detectives dug deeper, they uncovered a web of financial fraud and organized crime. Forged checks were traced to people in Helen's inner circle, and she had become entangled with Richard Baily, a con artist linked to the Chicago horse racing mob. Authorities believed Baily and associates targeted wealthy women through horse investment scams, and Helen had reportedly planned to expose the operation.Over the decades, multiple informants claimed Helen was murdered and her body destroyed, including one account suggesting she was killed and incinerated at a steel mill in Indiana. Despite extensive investigations and millions of dollars tied to the case, no one has ever been charged.Nearly fifty years later, Helen Brach remains one of the wealthiest missing women in American history and one of Chicago's most enduring mysteries.

Before Patty Hearst appeared as an actress in John Waters' movies, she captivated America on the silver screen as a hostage terrorized by the Symbionese Liberation Army. When the newspaper heiress was kidnapped by the radical organization in 1974, the country sympathized with her plight. But after just a few months, the SLA's guns weren't pointing at Patty anymore. Suddenly, Patty was firing her own weapons during fistfights and bank robberies as a member of the same terrorist group that once kept her locked in a closet. In court, Patty claimed she was brainwashed and that she played along for her own safety. It's true that Patty Hearst gave the performance of a lifetime — but we still don't know which part of her life was the performance. Since we concluded our season 1 investigative series on Mary Carole McDonnell, the phony Hollywood heiress, in July 2022 there haven't been any material updates in her case. It's been crickets for the past few years until early December 2025 when Mary Carole was added to the FBI's Most Wanted list. Suddenly, Mary Carole's case was making headlines with every news outlet you can think of. Jami, host of Dirty Money Moves, began doing some digging to satisfy her curiosity about what may have prompted this action by the FBI. She found something interesting in the Dubai court system. It was a Public Notice of Appeal filed by Jeffrey John Nilles, Mary Carole's husband. He'd filed an appeal in June 2024 in response to an unfavorable civil judgment against him in Dubai. There were three people named as notified parties to the appeal, one of them being a woman named Thilani Kumari Brady. A few weeks after finding this information, Jami received a DM from Thilani indicating she'd befriended Mary Carole McDonnell and Jeffrey Nilles in Dubai and that they'd attempted to get their hands on her money. Thilani agreed to an interview and provided a lot of insight on who Mary Carole McDonnell and Jeffrey Nilles are, and what they're up to in Dubai. In Season 1 Episode 2 of Dirty Money Moves, we explained how Mary Carole's antics were exposed by Channel 2 News. We also described how Mary Carole managed to get her hands on a few million dollars through a “gifting” program connected to her family trust that she claimed was worth millions. By 2017, Mary Carole's flagship company, Bellum Entertainment, was crumbling. She owed individuals and institutions millions of dollars. But, in the face of mounting lawsuits and creditors breathing down her neck, Mary Carole didn't seem to flinch. Instead, she got together with her lawyer friend, Barry Rothman, who had a colorful past and ties to one of Hollywood's most infamous scandals involving pop icon Michael Jackson. The two of them worked out a plan to get even more cash and this time around, Mary Carole was going BIG. Through lies and false documents, Mary Carole shockingly got her hands on almost $15 million from Banc of California. And by the time Mary Carole likely began enjoying the fruit of her multi million dollar swindle, Barry would drop dead before the FBI could even question him about the bank scam. In S1 E1 of Dirty Money Moves, we left off with a discussion about Mary Carole McDonnell's seemingly bright future. This is a woman who proclaimed herself to be the heiress to the McDonnell Douglas fortune. McDonnell Douglas was a major aerospace manufacturing company which was purchased by Boeing in 1997. In the previous episode, we also delved into Mary Carole's life and discovered the truth about her family history, which had nothing to do with the aerospace industry. Mary Carole had a tendency to lie and overspend. Despite that, her career path in the tv business led her to being hired as the Executive VP of programming for Raycom Media. She started making good money, and bought real estate like it was going out of style. It seemed like the phony heiress was doing whatever she could to live up to the fake persona, spending lavishly and racking up debt. Eventually, Mary Carole began building a media empire of her own, Bellum Entertainment, while maintaining her position at Raycom. It went well …for a while. Bellum Entertainment turned out to be nothing more than a flimsy house of cards that would eventually come crashing down all around her. Follow Jami Rice on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube @JamiOnAir. In January 1947, the bisected body of Elizabeth Short, completely drained of blood, was discovered in an undeveloped lot in Los Angeles. Its gruesome mutilations led to a firestorm of publicity, city-wide panic, and an unprecedented number of investigative paths led by the LAPD—all dead ends. The Black Dahlia murder remained an unsolved mystery for over seventy years.Six years earlier and sixteen hundred miles away, another woman's life had ended in a similarly horrific manner. Leila Welsh was an ambitious, educated, popular, and socially connected beauty. Though raised modestly on a prairie farm, she was heiress to her Kansas City family's status and wealth. On a winter morning in 1941, Leila's butchered body was found in her bedroom bearing the marks of unspeakable trauma. One victim faded into obscurity. The other became notorious. Both had in common a killer whose sadistic mind was a labyrinth of dark secrets. My guest is Emmy-nominated producer Eli Frankel. He has spent years researching the Black Dahlia case and makes a very convincing argument for his suspect in his recently published book, "SISTERS IN DEATH: The Black Dahlia, The Prairie Heiress & Their Hunter". What happens when God has clearly spoken about your business, but the evidence hasn't caught up yet?In this episode of Heiress, we step into the often-misunderstood space between promise and possession—the Jordan moment where faith becomes physical, obedience becomes visible, and leadership begins to cost something real. This is a teaching for faith-led women building Kingdom businesses who are tired of circling instructions they already know, waiting for certainty before they move, or letting money, fear, and self-protection quietly dictate their decisions. We explore: • why possession always precedes proof in the Kingdom • how obedience retrains the nervous system to trust God with responsibility • the difference between discernment and delay • why idols like control, approval, comfort, and mammon cannot cross into the promised land • how to build spiritual and business authority through embodied action • why marking obedience and remembering provision is essential for sustainable dominionIf you're building offers, pricing boldly, leading rooms, stewarding money, and sensing that God is calling you into greater authority—but you feel the internal resistance of fear, hesitation, or over-thinking—this conversation will reorient you. ------------------CONNECT WITH MEDownload the free Prayer for the Heiress and step into your authority as a daughter, a steward, and a Kingdom builder: https://generous-bird-13350.myflodesk.com/heiressprayerDM me on Instagram for 1:1 coaching or Identity Breakthrough Call: https://www.instagram.com/theheiresspodcast
In 2018, a wealthy heiress named Mary Carole McDonnell walked into Banc of California in Los Angeles, CA to deliver homemade pies to some of the commercial bankers who worked there. The pies were a “thank you” from Mary Carole for all of the hard work and effort put into the $15 million loan the bank was about to fund for the heiress. The bankers were thankful for the delicious pies, but had no idea this would be the last time Mary Carole would be seen in the United States. The first payment on the substantial loan came due but Mary Carole was nowhere to be found. The bank soon learned that Mary Carole never intended to repay the loan as nearly all of the documentation provided was falsified. The FBI got involved and today, Mary Carole McDonnell faces several federal charges and has been placed on the FBI's Most Wanted list. Patrick Millikin in conversation with Eli Frankel
What if the person with everything decided the system was broken—and then put her money where her mouth is? That's not a headline. That's Marlene Engelhorn's real life. In this episode of Reppin, Marlene—yes, a multi-millionaire heiress from Vienna—breaks down why growing up rich wasn't the dream everyone assumes… and how waking up to her privilege pushed her to become one of the most outspoken voices for wealth redistribution, tax reform, and economic justice. This isn't performative philanthropy. It's not guilt. It's ACTION. REAL action. She literally gave away her inheritance. She co-founded Tax Me Now. She's building a citizens' assembly to decide how to redistribute her wealth—democratically. If you're someone who cares about social justice, economic inequality, wealth privilege, or what real accountability looks like, this episode is basically a masterclass. And if you've ever wondered why the system feels rigged—or what actual allyship looks like when someone with power steps up—this conversation is going to hit hard. You'll hear Marlene get real about: The emotional and social cost of extreme wealth The moment she realized her “normal” wasn't normal at all The awkward truth about privilege, friendships, and trust How relationships, care, and humanity drive real social change This is the kind of episode people talk about. Share. Replay. Because it's not just a story—it's a blueprint for a better world.

In this eye-opening shocker, an award-winning producer, true-crime researcher, and Hollywood insider finally solves the greatest - and most gruesome - murder mystery of the twentieth century just before its 80th anniversary. The Black Dahlia murder remained an unsolved mystery for over seventy years. Six years earlier and sixteen hundred miles away, another woman's life had ended in a similarly horrific manner. On Today's TCT, Eli Frankel joins us to talk about why he believes he has found the definitive killer in the Black Dahlia case after five grueling years of research. Eli also makes his case and draws the parallels between the two girls, not just in the similar ways they were killed, but in the one person they had in common that they both knew! and another interesting theory comes up during the show as to why the Black Dahlia Case stalled out and went cold! And by the end, you'll walk away with a deeper understanding of why your nervous system is doing exactly what it was designed to do... and how God is inviting you into a new rhythm entirely.

The small Southern California island of Coronado rarely makes news for violent crime. But in the spring of 1975, World War II widow and retired librarian Ruth Quinn was murdered, execution-style, in her cottage. Her death sent a shock wave through the community. The granddaughter of Jujubes and Jujyfruits creator Henry Heide, Ruth was found fully clothed with her shoes on, in her bed, dead from two gunshot wounds. To this day, her murder has never been solved, but whispers about her brother, her son and even a local petty thief still swirl. Author Taylor Baldwin Kiland sifts through the dirt for the facts about Ruth's life and her untimely end in Coronado. Her book is called "Murder of the Jujube Candy Heiress: A Coronado Cold Case". On this day in Tudor history, 19 September 1580, Katherine Willoughby (Katherine Brandon, later Katherine Bertie), Duchess of Suffolk, died after a long illness and was laid to rest at Spilsby, Lincolnshire. I'm historian and author Claire Ridgway, and today I'm telling the story of one of my favourite Tudor women, a brilliant, resilient figure who moved from court glitter to deepest grief, from duchess to exile and back again, guided by a sharp mind and a fiercer faith. In this episode: Heiress & child-bride: ward of Charles Brandon and Duchess at 14 Court & conscience: official mourner at Catherine of Aragon's funeral; hiring Hugh Latimer to preach Tragedy in 1551: losing both sons to the sweating sickness the same day Love & exile: marriage to Richard Bertie, flight under Mary I, return under Elizabeth I Legacy: patronage of reform, Miles Coverdale in her household, and that famous little dog named “Gardiner” If you enjoy deep dives into remarkable Tudor women, please like, subscribe, and share your thoughts below. #OnThisDay #TudorHistory #KatherineWilloughby #DuchessOfSuffolk #CharlesBrandon #Reformation #SweatingSickness #ElizabethI

At the dawn of the twentieth-century, major advances in science and technology brought incredible change to the field of medicine, enhancing and extending the lives of millions. Yet at the same time, a lax regulations and minimal oversight made it possible for countless medical grifters to get rich offering quack medical solutions to everything from whooping cough to cancer, sometimes at the expense of their patient's lives. When Linda Hazzard opened her sanitarium, the Institute of Natural Therapeutics at Wilderness Heights, in Olalla, Washington in the first decade of the 1900s, she claimed her rigid fasting and elimination approach to dieting was a miracle cure for a variety of illnesses, both trivial and serious. For years, Hazzard operated what amounted to a health retreat for the wealthy, without any oversight from the state or federal agencies. In the end, Hazzard's starvation cure resulted in the deaths of over a dozen people and her arrest and trial for manslaughter, but through all of it, she maintained it was a viable treatment—standing by her methods up until they ended her own life.Thank you to the Incredible Dave White of Bring Me the Axe Podcast for research and Writing support!ReferencesHines, Terrence. 1997. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 2: 4:05pm- Breaking News: The House of Representatives has passed a recissions package that will claw back billions of dollars in federal funding to NPR and PBS. The package will now head to the Senate. 4:15pm- Who is funding the left's “No Kings” protests? Walmart heiress Christy Walton—the widow of John T. Walton, son of Walmart founder Sam Walton—funded a full-page advertisement in The New York Times promoting a nationwide protest against President Donald Trump's Flag Day celebration in Washington D.C. The New York Post notes that Christy Walton has no role in Walmart's operations but has a net worth of over $19 billion. Rich notes that it's important to remember Walmart and its employees have played absolutely no part in this—and shouldn't be financially punished via a boycott for an heiress's far-left ideology. 4:40pm- The No Kings protest is expected to occur in numerous cities across the country this Saturday—including Philadelphia. Will District Attorney Larry Krasner prosecute protesters that turn violent? Nope!
