Join me in the first episode for a brand new series where I take this topic and other hard topics of theology head-on to share opinions, insights, and research that will help beginners and professionals alike contemplate them and seek clarity God and his Word. Paul tells us in Romans 12 to offer up our minds and bodies as a pleasing sacrifice to the Lord. Have you ever wondered where he got that from? David poured his heart out to Yahweh in this psalm after he had committed both murder and adultery and performed exactly what Paul later calls for in Romans. He even tells Yahweh that he knows he will not accept burnt offerings because those offering were meant to be the outward expression of something far more important: a broken and contrite heart, a heart that recognizes its sinfulness and imperfections and seeks to have those wiped away by God so as to become infused with his Spirit. This is the purpose of all of God's covenants with any who would consider themselves his people. If we are not offering up ourselves, surrendering our person, our pains, and our troubles, to him, then he cannot heal us. He cannot put the pieces back together. May we do as Paul and David say so that we too can experience the overwhelming influx of his grace, joy, and peace. Check out this episode to learn more. Our world places a great emphasis on material wealth. "Live your best life because time is short" is the motto. But is that really the best way to live? Ancient philosophers, not just Christian or Jewish philosophers but even Greek and Roman ones, considered wisdom far more valuable than material gain. Why? Because the body may die away but the soul persists, and the gaining of material wealth was akin to putting a band-aid over an exposed bleeding heart: It might temporarily suppress the pain, but it will not heal the underlying injury unless the wound is permanently mended. Death is the assured outcome. Becoming mentally and spiritually stable through selflessness and contentment was a far more rewarding experience offering an incomparable fullness. We are called to study the words of God, the Bible and his book of creation, since He created the heavens and the earth by speaking them into being and motion. We are told to immerse ourselves in the knowledge of his words so that we can re-conform ourselves to his image as we were designed in the beginning. That is a long and difficult process. True study is hard and demands much from us. To learn more, check out this episode. The sexual experience within marriage is enormously fulfilling, beyond what any other extramarital sexual relations can give us. However, there is still the tendency to get caught up in an idolatry of the human body because of how powerfully intimate and gratifying sex is. Falling prey to that idolatry leads to all sorts of evil and eventually to the downfall of civilization. The sexual fast plays the role of reorienting our focus back to God to prevent that idolatry from taking hold and driving us to our own extinction. More details in this episode. Check it out. :) P.S. The wicked cannot stand in the presence of the Lord. This is an important truth. The flip side of that coin is that we cannot endure in the presence of the wicked without the Lord, and even then, we risk being enticed by the world and pulled under. Those who are adamantly against the Lord can influence us in the wrong direction. Sometimes, we have to shed certain people off, like a snake shedding its skin, if we are to maintain a healthy relationship with God. Shake the dust off our feet and move on. The ancient world was filled with sexual immorality, chiefly in relation to worshipping the ancient gods. However, some did have a sense honor, respect, and obligation, viewing the marital relationship as building block of society. The best example of this is the Israelites of the Old Testament and the laws they were provided by Yahweh. They endorsed the original creational model of one man unified with one woman in an lifelong bond from which children could be born and raised and introduced into the rest of the community to begin families of their own and work toward the betterment of the world. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. And welcome to a sort of snippet of a blog post that I am working on. Miracles are not possible, right? I mean nature is stable and defined by laws that cannot be violated, right? Well, not necessarily. David Hume mistakenly thought so, but recent evidence points to the contrary and shows Hume's philosophy to be flawed. In this episode, we dig into what that means for miracle accounts and the logical possibility of the reality of miracles. P.S. Pardon my discussion of blackholes in space. I am not a scientist but I do have an analytical mind. I can understand scientific things but have a hard time describing and explaining them sometimes. Additionally, blackholes do not only change the conditions that affect gravity as I explain. They also change the conditions that affect time and space. Also, at the end, the audio sounds different from the rest. I forgot to reset the microphone for the final segment and ended up on computer audio. Fasting from food is one things and is hard enough in itself, but in times of dire need, there is an even greater fast, the absolute or complete fast, that is used to request real, tangible change from Yahweh that will effect the fabric and events of reality. In this episode we take a look at the two major moments in the Bible of the complete fast and what they show about the significance of this special discipline. Side Note: I did mention in the episode that we would be looking at other places in Scripture as well, but for the sake of time and because of how important the two passages in question are, I decided only to focus on them and forgot to remove the promise of other passages from the script, so please ignore. Now that we have examined prayer in depth, we moved on to the discipline of fasting which is a very forgotten discipline in modern times. There is a growing fascination with fasting in secular culture that is primarily due to the beneficial physical effects that it can have since it forces the body to rely upon the fat stored up for sustenance and can induce healthy weight loss. However, there are major spiritual benefits as well that help us to connect with God on a deeper level if we are willing to use fasting as a sacrificial period in which to commune with him. Here, we take a look at that side of fasting and what it entails for believers and followers of Christ. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/20minutepods/support

What does it mean to heal? According to Scripture, it means to make right what is wrong, to restore, which connects it to both God's justice and salvation. This means that healing is more than physical and emotional and because of that, our prayers for healing need to reflect Yahweh's desires for justice and righteousness through conquering the sin that plagues the world. As we continue to investigate the prayer of intercession, we encounter the prayer of unity, which is specifically targeted toward those who have confessed faith in Yahweh through Christ Jesus, not toward all people on earth. Unity between believers in the goal of kingdom building and stems directly from the creational intentions within the heart of God, and it is that unity that all believers around the globe are to be praying for, in the same way that Jesus prays for it in the book of John.
