Send us a text Psalm 4 – A Prayer of Trust in Troubled TimesWith Reverend Ben Cooper | RB Christian RadioIn this deeply personal and spiritually powerful episode of RB Christian Radio, Reverend Ben Cooper takes us into the heart of Psalm 4, a timeless passage that speaks directly to our 21st-century anxieties. If you've ever struggled with sleepless nights, inner restlessness, or overwhelming circumstances, this prayer-centered episode offers profound peace and insight.Psalm 4 is often referred to as an “evening psalm” — a sacred song of surrender when the day has ended and the soul needs reassurance. Reverend Ben explores the rich context and hidden treasures within the words of King David, who penned this psalm while facing personal attack, pressure, and doubt. But through it all, David models a posture of calm trust, setting an example for all believers. You'll discover how Psalm 4 teaches us to respond to stress not with panic, but with prayer. It shows us that even when our situation feels unfair or unjust, we are called to pause, reflect, and turn our hearts toward God. As Reverend Ben explains, this is not just a scripture — it is a personal lifeline.
David cries out for the LORD to answer him, as the LORD has done in the past. David asserts that God has set apart His people for Himself so that those who love vain words will ultimately fall. Anger and vengeance are not a refuge; the LORD is the stronghold of His people. When He turns the light of His face upon us, we have true joy beyond anything this world can offer. This gives us the ability to sleep in peace, knowing that God is our safety. Rev. Jacob Dandy, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Atchison, KS, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 4. To learn more about Trinity, visit trinityatchison.org. Join Sharper Iron this summer to study selected Psalms. In the Psalter, God speaks His Word to us and teaches us how to speak back to Him in prayer. Even in the great variety of the Psalms, each one points us to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

Transformative Truth: Believers can rest secure, because our God reigns supreme. "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." - Luke 24:44 REST FOR THE STRESSED Psalm 4:1-8 Believers can rest secure, because our God reigns supreme. 1. Call upon the Lord. Psalm 4:1 Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. - Hebrews 4:16 2. Confront your enemies. Psalm 4:2-3 3. Counsel your friends. Psalm 4:4-5 a. Be angry. b. Don't sin. c. Search your hearts. d. Be silent. e. Offer right sacrifices. f. Put your trust in the Lord. Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. - James 1:19 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. - 1 Peter 2:23-24 4. Count on God's peace. Psalm 4:6-8 Believers can rest secure, because our God reigns supreme.
