Going The Extra Mile - Alex Fit Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 19, 2020 23:28

How do team, in this weeks episode, I speak about the importance of going the extra mile with your clients. The service you deliver is a direct reflection on the luck you create around your business.Intro - Before we get going I feel there is too many people moaning about not making enough money yet they aren’t doing anything about it. If you’re a business owner, or even a salesperson trying to make commission, go and sell. It’s simpleEffort = Reward - The amount of time and effort you put into a client the more likely it is they will become a long standing client. Don’t be annoyed when a client leave you after a month because you offered them nothing and they have less in the bank. Going the extra mile - I’m not saying you have to shine your clients shoes but some extra service “not included” in the price doesn’t go a miss. Leading on from this, I give the example of giving someone a free recipe book or having a towel of your client, or t shirts, water bottles, I could go on and on. Take the client out, see them outside the work environment. Show them you care, it’s a two way street.Offering quality reflecting client quality - If you service is crap, you can’t expect to have good clients. When I say good clients, I mean ones you have a strong relationship with, ones who are reliable, ones you can count on, ones you get results from. If what you offer it below par, how can you expect an above par client? It doesn’t workMaking your own luck - I’m sure a lot of you have been effected by covid and potentially are now struggling, however, I’m a big believer in creating your own luck. You could get unlucky and lose clients, BUT if you served for those clients well over lockdown, would they still leave you? Let’s take it from a business standpoint, if you’re working in marketing and you have clients you need to sell too. If another company looked after that said client more than you, you’ve already lose themExcuses - I’m fed up of people using excuses as to why they have no clients. If someone else in your industry is busy, you have to ask yourself “what an I doing wrong” “what do I need to improve on”. Stop blaming everyone else for why your business is suffering, take a stop back and look at yourself. It’s you and only youConclude - Don’t be a dickhttp://alexfitcleland.com

Ep.32 The Importance of a day off - Alex Fit Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 12, 2020 22:54

In this weeks episode, I speak about the importance of a day off in a business point of view and how it greatly increases overall productivity. Show Notes:Why I am making this podcast - Last Saturday was my birthday so all week I had planned to take the entire Friday and Saturday off. I can probably count in one hand the amount of days off I have had over the last 3 years and 2 of them were this weekend…What I mean - Obviously I have gone away on holiday over the period but there has rarely been a day I haven’t checked my emails, checked in on clients or even not lifted the laptop lid.Resetting - I have never felt so refreshed and stress free after allowing myself full time out. I always worry something might happen, someone might need me. But in reality, nothing did. In fact It literally didn’t matter at all. Training - The funny thing is when it comes to training I allow myself days off. Im always preaching to clients the importance of a day off the weights to allow your body to recover and better performance on your training days. So why don’t I take this into businessPerformance - You really can work yourself into the ground sometimes and can do more harm than good. Over lockdown a big lesson for me was to relax in the evenings but I still haven’t given myself a day or two off.Inability to switch off - When I look at I know I am bad at not switching off. I am alway ‘on it’. My mind is always active - this could be a good or bad thing. I truly am obsessed with everything I do. Stress - Yes I love what I do and honestly wouldn’t do anything else if I was asked but it is still my job. It still comes with enormous amounts of pressure. People from the outside just see the IG posts, the podcasts, client progress, the videos. What they don’t see is the endless endless graft and dedication it takes to being self employed and own multiple businesses. The saying “if it was easy everyone would do it” springs to mind. The solution - I’m not all of a sudden going to start having days off every week willy nilly but the importance now of a complete switch off will be welcomed. I won’t fear it anymore, I will enjoy it. http://alexfitcleland.com

Ep 31 - Adherence To The Plan - Alex Fit Podcast

In this episode I speak about the importance of having a plan and why you need to adhere to that plan. Do not neglect the power of writing it down.Show notes:Question - do you have a vision? do you have goals? Do you have a plan? If not, why not?Direction - Having goals is great but if you don’t have a plan, these goals are meaningless. Goals without being written down is just a thoughtTime frame - You might want to get in shape for a holiday or earn a certain amount of money by a date. However, how will you get there? What process will you put in place?Circles - Ever feel like you’re driving on a roundabout when it comes to fat loss or business progression? Stop allowing time to buy and being part of the ride. Stop, get out the car and detail out your journey. Not having a plan is like deciding to walk from London to Manchester without preparing your journey. Forget google maps in this time, before these days we had to use a map and plan the route. I very much doubt that someone ‘winging’ it would arrive to Manchester first over the person who planned their routeEnd goal - You may eventually get there without the plan on the off change but you won’t get there as productively than the person with the same goal but a plan in placeEffort - A lot of people turn a blind eye to their plan, it’s too much effort. It takes time. We want the easy route, not the one where we have to spend time creating a plan to get anywhere. I spoke about on the “why having a diary will change your life” about the power of writing a goal down at a certain date I usually achieve that goal in that specific timeThe plan - Smart goals. Short, medium and long term goals. Start at the long and work back through the short. For example - “I want to lose 8% body fat before my holiday in 8 months”. Our medium term goal is to lose 1% per month. Our short term is to maintain without a calorie deficit by 400 on a daily average. Now the 8% drop doesn’t seem so daunting. It helps our focus, our visualisation. Conclude - “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”http://alexfitcleland.com

It didn’t fill me with joy.It didn’t make we want to get up in the morningsMake a change -Its on you to live the life you want to.As simple as it is to say, it’s you or you.No one else can decide your destiny. If you want it go get it. What’s stopping you? Regret -My biggest fear in life is regret.Looking back and regretting actions I failed to take.Opportunities I didn’t pursue.Life’s too short to regret. Happiness -A life of little regret in my eyes is a happy one.A life of enjoying what you do is a happy one. Happiness is a direct reflection on motivation. A happy entrepreneur is far more dangerous to competitors than an unhappy one. Excited to wake up -“I hate Monday’s” we’ll what are you doing? You shouldn’t hate on Monday’s. In this episode I speak about the cards you have been dealt with in life and my own personal hand. Show Notes:Intro - Today we speak about dealing with the cards you are dealtPresent World - Crazy times going on at the moment talking of exactly the topic on hand today. How we deal with it? How we move forward? What situation you were born in to.Personal Experience - A privileged upbringing yes but I was taught from my parents you really don’t get anywhere without hard hard work. As a young lad, I was lazy, didn’t work, didn’t take responsibility for my actions and probably in a way thought I was too stupid. My mum was a stay at home mum who did everything for me and my sisters. As a child I didn’t see much of my dad as he was always working to get to where he is now being a very successful business man. So from a young age I experienced the work you have to put in to achieve good things and have a nice life for your family. It was rammed in to me I needed to work hard. My parents always made it known to us, nothing is given and we have to graft. I only started doing this after failing a school year, writing off my car and having a house party (when parents were away). You could call that a big turning point in my life. Fortunate - I think for me, I am lucky and I am grateful. To be born into the family I am. I take inspiration of my mum and dads relationship and my dad literally is my best mate. So, ok I have been dealt a good hand in life, but I used and am using that hand to its maximum potential. Not using a good hand - There are people who have incredible upbringings and born into a different world amount of wealth, however more often then not can’t even look after themselves. More often then not, these people have no drive, no motivation and are perfectly happy spending the families moneyDealing with a bad hand - Look at March Rashford, born in a rough estate in Manchester. Coming from the bottom - I know a lot of people who started at the bottom yet are some of the most hard working people I know. Why? Because they know how it feels to be there and will do everything in their power to never go back. Gary Vee always talks about this fact. Conclude - You have one life. Joe Rogan & Kevin Hart quote about life being a book. And to finish on another Gary Vee quote “doesn’t matter where you start, it matters where you finish and how you get there”http://alexfitcleland.com
