You know how they tell you that websites and apps follow your every move and then design their product to get the most out of you? And you know how each and every time a digital product gets updated it gets worse and harder to use? How can both of these be true? Well, let me get you in on a Product Analytics secret: It's true that most websites and apps collect your data, but most of them just let it rot in dashboards nobody looks at, and release major features and redesigns without performing any mathematically rigorous analysis of the users' response. This is only one of many reasons why it's so hard to be autistic in Tech. My Product Analytics ex-colleague, Carolina (pronouns: she/they), will join me on this episode to rant with all our accumulated frustrations about the sad sad fact that most digital product providers really don't care about your data, and also just in general about being autistic in Tech. You can find Carolina on Instagram @millenialspinster Language note: The words Shit and Bullshit are being said a few times in the episode. My family spent two months traveling across Greece, Italy, and Spain - visiting 8 cities with a toddler - all to figure out where in the world we actually wanted to live next.I'm breaking down the real experience of a scouting trip: how we chose destinations, what surprised us, the emotional rollercoaster of not finding “the one” right away, and how we ultimately made our decision. If you're trying to choose where to move abroad (and feeling overwhelmed), this episode will help you think about it in a much clearer, more grounded way. What I cover:How we narrowed the world down using visas, lifestyle priorities, and real-life constraintsWhy doing “normal life” (not tourist activities) is the key to a successful scouting tripThe emotional reality of not loving your first (or second… or third) destinationWhy some places felt amazing (hello, Chania) but didn't work in real lifeThe unexpected red flags we only noticed once we were thereHow we chose between Valencia, Málaga, and Chania (and what tipped the scales)The biggest lessons: what we did right, what we'd do differently, and whether or not you should do a scouting tripYou're not just choosing a city; you're choosing a lifestyle. And often, the “right” place isn't the most beautiful or exciting, or even the one you expected to love the most… It's the one that fits your everyday life the best.Subscribe and ReviewIf you loved this episode, please take a moment to subscribe and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! New year, same cycle? You set the goals, feel fired up for a week or two, and then…you slowly fall off the wagon. Sound familiar??If that resonates, you are NOT alone! This episode is your permission slip to stop chasing brand-new, shiny New Year's resolutions every.freaking.year, and start building something that actually lasts: self-trust.You don't *need* new goals - you need more belief in yourself and follow-through with what you're already doing!Self-trust isn't about confidence or motivation - it's about evidence. When you repeatedly set goals that are too big, too vague, or not aligned with your real life, your brain stops believing you. Clear, specific goals remove pressure, reduce decision fatigue, and turn intention into ACTION.Ultimately, real self-trust isn't built in hype moments at the start of January - it's built in the boring, everyday moments when you follow through anyway. That's how you stop starting over (for good)!!Episode recap:Why you don't *need* brand new goals this yearWhy you don't trust yourself (yet) + how you can get thereHow vague goals keep you stuckA coffee shop analogy that relates to you setting specific goalsHow clarity builds self-trustKey differences in goals vs. standardsHow to set standards that build real self-trustLinks/Resources:Grab your FREE Body Recomp Meal Prep and get the UFYF NewsletterListen to the Girls with Opinions PodcastJoin FIT CLUB, my monthly membership with workouts you can do at home or the gymPRIVATE COACHING is my 1:1 program (choose 3 or 6 month option)Connect with me on Instagram @kristycastillofit and @unfuckyourfitnesspodcast so we can keep this conversation going-be sure to tag me in your posts and stories!Join my FREE Facebook group, Unf*ck Your FitnessClick HERE for my favorite fitness & life things!Send me a text with episode ideas or just to say hi! A Gluten Free Podcast Episode 179In today's episode, I'm taking a moment to reflect on our incredible conversation last week with Iron Ramen — a gluten free Japanese restaurant built from the ground up after their son's coeliac diagnosis. We'll explore the powerful idea of doing one thing and doing it really well, and how that can lead to incredible growth — not just in business, but in life. I'll also talk about how Iron Ramen's journey reminds me of the concept of Ikigai, a Japanese philosophy about finding your reason for being, something I first came across in a book that had a big impact on me.Finding inspiration and motivation can feel tough sometimes in our gluten free lives, especially when coeliac disease can make things harder. But stories like Iron Ramen's — and the conversation I'm about to have next week with a podcast listener — show that if you don't let your diagnosis hold you back, you can find your purpose and live a great gluten free life.I'll also share a personal update on how I believe I'm finding my own Ikigai through this podcast, our community, and everything we're building at A Gluten Free Family. And, excitingly, for the first time, I'll introduce something I've wanted to do for a long time: sharing a listener's story. Next week, you'll hear from someone who has gained a lot from this podcast, and I'll sit down with them to hear their gluten free journey and how this community has impacted their life.In This Episode:A recap of our last episode with Iron Ramen: doing one thing, doing it well, and growing from thereHow a son's coeliac diagnosis inspired a thriving gluten free businessAn introduction to Ikigai: what it means and how it applies to living well with coeliac diseaseHow Iron Ramen found their Ikigai — and how it's inspiring others in the gluten-free communityMy personal journey with finding Ikigai through A Gluten Free Family and this podcastHow we can all find motivation and purpose after a coeliac diagnosisA look ahead: a special interview with a listener who found support and encouragement through this podcastHow finding your gluten free Ikigai can then help others in a similar situation to you Next week's guest: previewing our chat with Stephen about pushing through challenges and not letting anything stop youWhat is Ikigai? Ikigai (生き甲斐) is a Japanese concept meaning “a reason for being.” It's the sweet spot where what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for all come together. Everyone online's got an opinion, but let's be honest—most of that advice is either incomplete or flat-out wrong, let alone providing you a game plan or roadmap on how-to charge for graphic design work. No sugarcoating. Just hard-earned truth from a designer who built a 7-figure agency from his parents' basement—without selling his soul.By the end of this episode, you'll stop wondering what to charge—and start pricing with confidence.Stay Angry our Friends –––––––––––Join Anger Management for Designers Newsletter at https://tinyurl.com/mr4bb4j3Want to see more? Does working in schools have you feeling stuck with no control over your career? If you want to get that control back, this episode is for you!Today I am joined by Darla Gardner, an SLP with a pediatric private practice outside of Dallas, Texas. Darla worked for over 20 years as a school-based SLP. After learning the school administration wanted her to move to a different campus, she decided to join our Start Your Private Practice Program and start a private practice instead. In this episode, Darla shares her private practice startup journey, from how she kept overhead costs low, to the fulfillment she gets from meeting the needs of her community.Darla was a school-based SLP for 21 years. During this time, she developed a passion for partnering with parents to intentionally target early speech and language skills in the home. After discovering that low-income, pre-school-aged children in her area were on 18+ month waiting lists for speech therapy services at clinics more than 20 miles away, she decided to open her own clinic, Wonderfully Made Therapies.Through her private practice, she can serve the children most at risk for later academic concerns by providing early speech and language services close to home. In Today's Episode, We Discuss:Darla's history of working in schoolsRecognizing the gap between what the school offered and what her patients needed How she went about furnishing her practice for cheapWhat happens when you get out of your head and put yourself out thereHow private practice lets her work with parents more than she could in the schoolsThe variety of services Darla's practice offers now and what she hopes to offer in the futureIf you want to better meet the needs of your community in a way the schools can't, I hope Darla's story will inspire you!Whether you want to start a private practice (like Darla!) or grow your existing private practice, I can help you get the freedom, flexibility, fulfillment, and financial abundance that you deserve.
