Self-confidence is often looked at as a trait that some people are simply born with…. But today's podcast interview with Whitney from Cleansed reveals how much confidence anyone can build in just one year and the incredible business results that come from it.Whitney's journey started with trying to find a solution for skincare products that wouldn't irritate her daughter's extremely sensitive skin. She began creating her own skincare line that actually worked for her daughter and, before she knew it, was sharing her handcrafted soaps with friends and family, too. When her husband encouraged her to turn this hobby into a business, Whitney took the leap - she began selling at local markets and received so much support from the local community... but she hit a roadblock when it came to scaling her business. Many small business owners find themselves in a similar situation, don't they? This episode will inspire you to see how confidence – both business confidence and personal confidence – is what finally grew Whitney's sales and business.Whitney's story will inspire you to see how someone can go from not having any personal social media profiles at all…. To having a business social media with JUST photos of her products…. To showing her face… to now, talking on her stories, hosting IG lives, and posting reels showing the person behind the business and actually connecting with her growing follower base. Can you imagine how transformative this journey must have been? This confidence came from confidence in her business and the confidence in the solution that her products provide, all of which led to confidence in herself…. To the point that when she meets people in person, she no longer says she's a stay at home mom of 2 girls and hides the fact that she has a business… but instead, she speaks from her heart, tells people about her business, and is proud to be the owner of a successful skincare business. What you'll learn in this episode:The inspiring story behind Cleansed and how it grew from a personal need into a successful small businessThe personal mindset shift that helped Whitney go from fear of social media to confidently selling onlineThe business confidence that came from professional branding, updated labels, and professional photographyHow investing in PBA provided Whitney the roadmap & support she needed for business growthHow Whitney's confidence shift positively impacted both her business and personal lifeSo, are you ready to embark on your journey to bigger, bolder confidence and success in your business?About Whitney: Whitney McClure is the founder of Cleansed, a skincare brand that started as a personal solution for her daughters' severe skin sensitivities and evolved into a skincare business for those with sensitive skin. Honestly with Bari Weiss ✓ Claim Key Takeaways In the United States, free speech is not a right granted by the government but is considered an unalienable right of a human beingBut free speech is viewed differently in the European Union; for example, the French view free speech as needing to strike a balance between the individual and the community It was revealed during the “Twitter Files” controversy that American lobbyists wanted to push America more towards the European model of policing speech onlineThe state has figured out how to turn the Internet into an instrument of social control Counter-terrorism to Counter-populism: Many of the government agencies that once focused on stopping terrorist groups have shifted their focus inward domestically to monitor and censor American citizens The state uses “misinformation” as a pretext for guiding messagingThe gradual drift towards authoritarianism: People come to worship authority when the state “saves” them from every “emergency”Be wary of Language Inflation: A phenomenon in which extreme language is used to describe something that does not warrant the use of extreme language There is a natural political bias in government-sponsored censorship; the people who fill government censorship positions tend to come from left-leaning universities Read the full notes @ podcastnotes.orgIn the past few weeks, there's been an increasing number of threats to freedom of speech around the world. In France, authorities arrested Telegram CEO Pavel Durov for failing to adequately moderate content and prevent criminal activity on his platform. In the UK, since the outbreak of anti-immigration riots, police have arrested individuals merely for posting comments online. The Labour-led government has suggested expanding measures to remove “legal but harmful” content. In Brazil, President Lula's administration has proposed new regulations requiring social media companies to monitor and remove “harmful content,” and a Brazilian Supreme Court justice just banned X altogether in the country. The ruling came after the platform missed a deadline to name a new legal representative there. From Hungary to Pakistan, the right to speak your mind, particularly on the internet, is more precarious than ever. Even in the United States, with our free speech rights enshrined in the Constitution, polls suggest an entire generation has grown up thinking it should be illegal to say something inaccurate or hateful. Democratic VP nominee Tim Walz said as much: “There's no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech, and especially around our democracy.” So how did we get here? And, where is this all going? Today, Michael sits down with the intrepid journalist Matt Taibbi, who knows this issue inside out. When The Free Press launched, he reported the Twitter Files with Bari Weiss, and together they exposed how government agencies had pressured Twitter to censor undesirable information, including skepticism of Covid lockdowns and opposition to Covid-related public school closures. In this conversation, Matt and Michael talk about what's happening in Europe, Brazil, and here in the U.S. They discuss the factors that precipitated the so-called “misinformation wars,” from 9/11 to Brexit and Trump's election, that convinced elites of the need to enforce restrictions on speech. And they talk about why these efforts are doomed to backfire. If you liked what you heard from Honestly, the best way to support us is to go to thefp.com and become a Free Press subscriber today. FindMyClinicalTrial is transforming the way patients discover clinical trials online. Their software technology serves as a comprehensive resource for patients, enabling them to connect with clinical trials, hospitals, doctors, and providers.Easily find clinical trials onlineThe website functions as a centralized hub for patients seeking clinical trials. By visiting the site, patients can enter their medical information, explore available clinical trials, converse with their doctors, and directly enroll in trials with a single click. This efficient process removes the need for patients to engage with multiple healthcare providers or navigate through complex government websites like clinicaltrials.gov.A significant advantage of using FindMyClinicalTrial is the empowerment it offers to patients. Rather than solely depending on healthcare professionals to direct them to clinical trials, patients can now actively manage their healthcare journey. This democratization of information not only benefits individual patients but also contributes to addressing the diversity gap in clinical trials by reaching out to underserved communities.FindMyClinicalTrial also provides educational materials to help patients and doctors better comprehend the implications of participating in clinical trials. While the company does not conduct the trials themselves, they collaborate closely with healthcare partners, community health centers, and patient advocacy groups to ensure that patients are thoroughly informed before enrolling in a trial. In terms of sourcing clinical trials, FindMyClinicalTrial extracts data from systems like clinicaltrials.gov, which hosts over 500,000 active and recruiting trials in the US and internationally. This extensive database enables patients to effortlessly search for trials that align with their medical needs and preferences. Moreover, the website is entirely free for patients and hospitals to use, with revenue generated from subscription fees paid by clinical research organizations. In summary, FindMyClinicalTrial is simplifying the process for patients to find and enroll in clinical trials online. By offering a user-friendly platform, educational resources, and seamless communication with healthcare providers, the company is empowering patients to make informed healthcare decisions and participate in potentially transformative research studies.Knowledge is powerAdditionally, FindMyClinicalTrial provides information on the sponsors of clinical trials, allowing patients to learn more about the companies or organizations conducting the research. This transparency helps patients make informed decisions about which clinical trials to participate in.Furthermore, the website allows patients to filter clinical trials based on factors such as phase of the trial, duration, and location. This helps patients narrow down their search and find clinical trials that best suit their needs and preferences. One of the unique aspects of FindMyClinicalTrial is its focus on patient adherence and engagement. The website is exploring partnerships with companies in the patient adherence space to provide patients with tools and resources to better monitor their health during clinical trials. This includes sending patients devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose monitors to help them track their health data throughout the trial.Diversity in clinical trials mattersOne of the key aspects that sets FindMyClinicalTrial apart from other platforms is its commitment to diversity in clinical trials. The founder of the website, Killian Lozach, recognized a significant gap in the lack of diversity in clinical trials and the need to engage a broader range of patients in research studies. This is a critical issue, as diversity in clinical trials is essential for ensuring that the results are applicable to a wider population and that all patients have access to potentially life-saving treatments.Lozach highlights his passion for addressing this issue and the innovative ways in which FindMyClinicalTrial is working to improve diversity in clinical trials. By not storing patient data and not requiring extensive medical history before searching for a trial, the platform is removing barriers that may prevent certain groups of patients from participating in research studies. This approach is particularly important for patients who may not have access to their full medical history or who may face additional burdens in finding a trial that suits their needs.Lozach's dedication to improving diversity in clinical trials is commendable, and it is clear that their efforts are driven by a genuine desire to make a difference in the healthcare industry. By creating a more inclusive and accessible platform for patients to find and participate in clinical trials, FindMyClinicalTrial is helping to ensure that all patients have the opportunity to benefit from cutting-edge medical research. Conclusion: An improved experience in researching clinical trialsOverall, FindMyClinicalTrial is revolutionizing the way patients find and participate in clinical trials. By providing a user-friendly platform, comprehensive database, and tools for patient engagement, the website is empowering patients to take control of their healthcare decisions and participate in potentially life-changing research studies. We all connect with the power of vulnerability in ourselves and in others. And vulnerability continues to be misunderstood and misappropriated in marketing businesses and services, political campaigns, legislative agendas, and leadership, to name a few. These days, discerning between true vulnerability and what today's guest calls #vulnerability can become a real challenge. When vulnerability is used with an agenda to acquire more community, brand awareness, or social capital, this agenda moves us away from the heart of this courageous state. Vulnerability is complicated because it RARELY feels good. But what leads us to vulnerability often is good, because it means we are following our integrity even when there's a lot to lose. Many of us struggle with vulnerability because we struggle with knowing ourselves. All too often, we know more about who we think we should be, than who we really are. This becomes extra challenging when the expectation to “just be vulnerable” as a tool to lead and to sell continues to increase. But if we do not have our own clarity of values, clarity of our identity, then vulnerability turns into a commodity to use.#vulnerability is so attractive–even seductive–because it draws us in with stories and experiences that evoke emotion. And it usually draws the likes, follows, shares that so many covet. And today's guest digs deep with me #hashtag vulnerability today.Tara McMullin is a writer, podcaster, and producer who's been making business make sense for small business owners for over 12 years. An online course is an appealing way to earn passive income, or add an extra revenue stream to an existing business. You don't need any special expertise to do it, either, and Jacques Hopkins is proof. He turned his hobby playing piano into a $40,000 a month business when he started Piano in 21 Days, and you'll hear how in this interview. Jacques had a traditional career as an engineer but wanted a job that would give him more free time. He realized he used practicing piano to procrastinate, and decided to make that passion the heart of his new business. He'll be the first to tell you he's not a piano virtuoso, but he does know how to build an evergreen sales funnel, and knowing how to sell online course content proved to be the key to unlocking his business growth. One of the best things about an online course business is its low barrier to entry. Jacques started his with a budget of around $150 a month, and those costs have stayed low as he's grown, meaning about 50% of his revenue is profit. He'll explain the main costs an entrepreneur should budget for and how to make the most of that investment, along with how to set up smart systems and build a team to make your income as passive as possible.
