The NBA is about a quarter  of the way through the season and it's a good opportunity to take a pulse check on some decent teams this year.  The Suns deserve a bit of respect considering they've won 15 games in a row and happened to be in the NBA Finals last year.  This team lost some hype after many were excited about them in the off season but the recent play of the Hawks may just bring everyone back on the band wagon (8:03). Don't look now but the Brooklyn Nets are the No.1 seed in the East and it's worth digging deep to see how they've played and if they are still favorites out East (12:33). The NBA is exciting thus far this year with the fans back in the crowd and rule changes removing some of the less appealing parts of the NBA.  One exciting aspect of the league is that the Warriors currently have the best record in the NBA as everyone predicted of course.  The Washington Wizards have the number one seed in the East which was even more predictable (5:28). The NBA rooks have been playing well but one particular player stands out above the rest (9:19). The Heat pick up Kyle Lowry and I discuss if this improves them to be one of the top teams in the East.  The Bulls pick up Lonzo Ball and Demar DeRozan (10:30). The  Wizards add some much needed depth (18:30).   The Nets get Patty Mills and might be even better than before (23:00). Everyone is knocking the Pelicans replacing Lonzo with Devonte Graham but is the move that bad (27:18)? Lakers continue to make splash and unite Melo and LeBron, the next question is if they have enough pieces to keep them in championship contention (36:12). How will the Suns and Clippers match up in the Western Conference Finals (19:34). The 76ers were able to pull out a fairly close victory over the Hawks for a game 7 (26:24).  The Bucks leaned on Middleton and Giannis in game 6 and will try to obtain a game 7 win in Brooklyn (29.11). The Suns swept the Nuggets with CP3 showing levels of dominance. Can they be considered the favorites (12:58).  The Jazz have tied up the Clippers at 2-2 and the Jazz have not shown an answer in two straight games (22.22).  The Hawks tied their series up at 2-2 and Embiid did not quite look like himself in the 2nd half (28:03). The Suns have taken the number one seed in the Western Conference after their victory over the Utah Jazz.  Is it time to put CP3 in the MVP conversation (0:00)? The top ten teams in the Western Conference are essentially set and now the question becomes the order of seeding which is where things get interesting (9:32). Jayson Tatum scored 60 to lead his team back from a 32 point deficit and the Wizards are the Wizards deserve some respect (14:57)! Finally, if you're interested, I provide some quick thoughts on the consensus top five quarterbacks of the NFL Draft and my prediction for Rookie of the Year (23:10).

The Nuggets are on a four game winning streak and even their defense is looking good since Aaron Gordon joined the lineup.  Should they be considered more of a threat out West (18:28)?  The Final Four will be done by the time of this recording and I think this provides a good time to discuss draft philosophy and what is truly valuable in today's NBA (26:35).

The NBA trade deadline was just usurped by the active buyout market for top contenders. In this episode of AwkwardlyCool, I discuss the buyout news regarding  LaMarcus Aldridge to the Nets and Andre Drummond to the Lakers (0:20).  Zion Williamson is not receiving the same level of national media love and I take a small step in changing that by discussing the year he's having (16:47).  James Harden has been playing excellent for the Nets but is he the MVP even with Jokic having an ALL-TIME historic season (26:26).
