One of the more significant signings of the offseason for the Lakers - some might say the most significant - was Miami guard Gabe Vincent. At the very least, he was their biggest investment, at three years and $33 million dollars. He slots into the role held by Dennis Schröder, and is set to play a really big role in the team's rotation. He had a very impressive playoffs, including some particularly important moments in the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston. Particularly notable was his outside shooting, which went well above his career norms. So who exactly are the Lakers getting? Wes Goldberg, host of Locked On Heat, joins to break it down in a very in-depth scouting report. What are his strengths? How much has Heat Culture influenced Vincent's growth? What will his game look like moving into a group like the Lakers? How will Vincent, the person, fit into a team with LeBron James and the expectations of the Lakers? What kind of locker room presence will he be? On the floor, was Vincent's performance in the postseason a sign of things to come? How sustainable was his run as a shooter? What about normal point guard stuff? Can he operate as a floor general, if asked? How much does that matter on a team with LeBron James, Austin Reaves, D'Angelo Russell and more? What about the defense? What are his strengths and weaknesses on that side of the ball? One interesting thing to consider with Vincent, for all the talk of upside and growth (which are important and matter) is how likely he is to have a high floor with the Lakers. After listening to Goldberg break down Vincent's game, it's easy to feel confident that, at the least, even if he doesn't take a leap forward, the chances of Vincent playing very solid basketball and delivering value for the Lakers as measured by the totality of his contributions seem very high. That matters. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Wes Goldberg joins. Who did the Lakers get when they signed Gabe Vincent? SEGMENT 2: What is the impact of Heat Culture? Can Vincent sustain his playoff performance into a full regular season? SEGMENT 3: Reacting to the scouting report. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
