The Confident Mind: A Battle-Tested Guide to Unshakable Performance by Dr. Nate Zinsser Believe and be unshakable. The Director of West Point's influential Performance Psychology Program shares the secrets of mental toughness and self-belief in this definitive guide to mastering confidence, the key to performance in any field. Dr. Nate Zinsser has spent his career training the minds of the U.S. Military Academy's cadets as they prepare to lead and perform when the stakes are the very highest—on the battlefield. Alongside this work, he has coached world-class athletes including a Super Bowl MVP, numerous Olympic medalists, professional ballerinas, NHL All-Stars, and college All-Americans, teaching them to overcome pressure and succeed on the biggest stages. Dr. Zinsser has come to understand that one single trait above all others makes peak performance possible: confidence, or the belief in oneself. Whether your mission involves leading a platoon into combat, returning an opponent's serve, or delivering a sales pitch to a roomful of skeptical prospects, you perform best when you are so certain about your abilities that your flow of fear, doubts, and confusion slows to the barest minimum. What's more, Dr. Zinsser has come to understand that confidence is a skill that can be taught, improved, and applied by anyone to enhance nearly every aspect of our lives and careers. Now, for the first time, Dr. Zinsser distills his research and years of experience, offering a fascinating guide to the science of confidence and providing readers with a practical, step-by-step program to best harness their belief in themselves to achieve success in any field. The Confident Mind is a complete guide to confidence: how to understand it, how to build it, how to protect it, and how to rely upon it when your performance matters most.

Hollywood could not imagine a better UNDERDOG story than the one Kurt Warner has lived.  So, they went straight to the source and made a movie about Kurt's incredible journey.   “AMERICAN UNDERDOG: THE KURT WARNER STORY” opens in theaters soon, and I'm thrilled to welcome Kurt this week so you can hear firsthand how he OVERCAME INCREDIBLE ODDS to live one of the most INSPIRATIONAL stories I've heard in a long time. After playing college football at Northern Iowa for four years, Kurt was undrafted and stocked shelves in a grocery store.  He eventually landed a spot on the Iowa Barnstormers in the Arena Football League before signing with the St. Louis Rams as a backup quarterback in 1998.  A year later, everything changed. Not only did he become a starter, during his first season, Kurt also led the Rams to a title in SUPER BOWL XXXIV and earned league and Super Bowl MVP honors.  He won another league MVP when the Rams returned to Super Bowl XXXVI.  After signing with the Cardinals, he led the team to their first Super Bowl appearance as well, making him the second quarterback in history to start the Super Bowl with two different teams.   When he retired, Kurt finished his career owning a dozen NFL RECORDS. With all the challenges he faced, if anyone had a right to have self-doubt, it was Kurt.   Did he have self-doubt?   ABSOLUTELY NOT!   As he explains, Kurt always believed in his talent, but how he approached that talent had to CHANGE before he found success. You're also going to hear how stocking grocery store shelves helped Kurt create a path to the NFL.  It's a story of how doing COMMON THINGS the right way can produce decidedly UNCOMMON RESULTS that you can use in your life as well. Kurt also gives you a masterclass on the importance of CONFIDENCE as an element of success, especially when you encounter inevitable setbacks. FAITH has always been a part of Kurt's life, and we spend a good deal of time talking about how Kurt's RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD has grown and changed over the years to become one of the things that define who he is.  We touch on how he has actively applied faith in good times and the bad and how he has STAYED TRUE TO HIS FAITH despite setbacks after his incredible accomplishments.  At this time of year, and in times like these, we need UPLIFTING stories to help us find JOY and PEACE. That's why spending time listening to Kurt Warner's story is a PERFECT GIFT you'll want to give yourself and SHARE WITH OTHERS.

The Monday Morning Xtra Point crew, former NFL quarterback Brandon Doughty & Len Martez got together for another podcast after week eight, but because of the trading deadline, Brandon & Len had more than just on the field action to discuss. The MMXP crew began the podcast by reviewing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to the New Orleans Saints, their second loss of the season. Both Brandon & Len agreed that the Bucs were their own worst enemy against the Saints.   Brandon & Len moved on from the Bucs loss to talk about the Green Bay Packers & quarterback Aaron Rodgers. First, they broke down the Packers traveling to Arizona during a short week without three of their top receivers & giving the Cardinals their first loss of the season. Then Brandon & Len addressed Rodgers testing positive for COVID 19 & being unavailable to play in a crucial matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in week nine.   After discussing a few of the top teams in the NFC, Brandon & Len talked about the Tennessee Titans, the top seed in the AFC. And even though the Titans got a big win in Indianapolis against the Colts, they suffered a loss when their running back Derrick Henry went down with a season-ending right foot injury. Brandon & Len wrapped up the podcast by talking about the league's biggest trade when the Los Angeles Rams acquired Super Bowl MVP linebacker Von Miller & the biggest surprise of week eight, which was the New York Jets win over the Cincinnati Bengals, led by quarterback Mike White, who Brandon knows very well from their days at Western Kentucky together. On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few choice words for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs following their ugly Monday Night Football victory over the New York Giants. If it wasn't clear before it is now - the Chiefs stink. Their refusal to evolve and accept that NFL defense have caught up to what they like to do offensively will ultimately be their undoing. The confidence they used to play with has turned into arrogance, so it's no surprise that they get smacked by the good teams and struggle themselves to beat the bad ones. Later, Jason shares a quick thought on the Chicago Bulls' win over the Boston Celtics. Boston got outscored by 28 points in the fourth quarter before they got booed off the floor by their home fans - and that wasn't even the worst part. After the game, Marcus Smart called out stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for not passing the ball more. Maybe Kyrie Irving was right about Tatum and Brown all those years ago? More importantly, is this the beginning of the end for Tatum's time in Boston? Feels like something to monitor. Finally Jason goes deep on the blockbuster deal that saw All-Pro pass rusher Von Miller traded to the Los Angeles Rams. Miller is no longer the Super Bowl MVP-caliber player we saw a few years back, but he doesn't have to be in Los Angeles. With Aaron Donald and Leonard Floyd on the defensive line and Jalen Ramsey anchoring the secondary, Miller gets to function as arguably the greatest '4th option' in the NFL. This is a great deal for the Rams; We all know that the NFL Draft is a crapshoot, so giving up a 2nd and 3rd round pick for a player of Miller's caliber feels like money well spent. On today's show, Pat and the boys chat about the inaugural episode of Monday Night Manning, and how incredible it was to watch Peyton, Eli, and the bevy of guests they had watch the Monday Night Football game, dissect the defenses, and give everyone who watched the game a true education in Quarterback play in the NFL. Joining Pat and AJ Hawk for the 2nd installment of the season, is reigning NFL MVP, Super Bowl Champion, Super Bowl MVP, Quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers. Pat, Aaron, and AJ chat about the Packers performance against the Saints in Jacksonville, what the mood in the locker room is like, when Aaron and Coach LaFleur will chat about what happened and fix what they saw, if it's even worth addressing all the people who were going to pile on after everything that happened in the offseason, how he thought the offensive line played well, and what they need to do to get back on the right track (27:14-57:00). Next, 3x Super Bowl Champion, former GM of the Cleveland Browns, special assistant to the New England Patriots coaching staff, author, and host of the GM Shuffle Pod and the Lombardi Line, Michael Lombardi.
