Her second was positive and lovely! Colleen had an easy first pregnancy and assumed birth would be the same. Although she had hoped for a natural labor, she was exhausted and decided to opt for an epidural. Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in today. We have Rachael on and her story is so redemptive. She had to have a planned c-section with her first baby but that didn't stop her from achieving her dream birth with her second. VBAC can seem scary and impossible but we've talked to some really inspiring moms who were able to achieve that goal! So we are still collecting responses about the future of the podcast - we are hoping to get ideas to help us build and reach more moms! The link to the form is here (and by filling it out, you're entered to win an Amazon gift card and Birth Naturally sticker!) We appreciate all of you who have given your opinions so far; it helps a lot! Throughout August, we will be only releasing episodes every other week, due to the fact that I should have a baby by then and will need a bit of time off! In the interim, we'd love to chat with a few more of you on the podcast, so let us know if you're interested in sharing your story! We're not scary, I promise! :) Make sure you follow Rachael on Instagram for some really cool birth art (great gifts for your midwife!) and give us a follow, too! Hi guys! We are back! Thanks for being patient with us... we lost our grandmother, who we were so fortunate to have such a close relationship with. Our kids were also so lucky to have known her for so long and each had such a special bond with her. It's been a tough couple weeks but we are just trying to take care of ourselves and each other during this really difficult time. So wow. I am so glad we're coming back with this episode! Michelle from Farm Life Outfitters is just such a kind soul. I (Kali) have been following her journey on Instagram and YouTube for awhile now and she and her husband just have such a sweet family and a lovely life on their farm in North Carolina. You won't be able to help but smile as you're listening and hear the sounds of the farm in the background! Michelle tells us the story of her fourth baby and first out of hospital birth. No matter what baby this is for you, it's never too late to change gears and create the birth experience YOU want! Michelle is proof of that. Michelle mentioned Toups + Co Baby Balm - check out their stuff! Natural products and makeup... you won't be disappointed! Also, please give us some feedback for some ideas we're kicking around. Guys - wow. This story is like nothing you've ever heard. And we want to put a warning here that sexual assault is mentioned, so if that bothers you, you may want to skip this one. Elle's first birth ended in a VBAC and left her feeling devastated. She became a student of birth, educating herself and constructing her plan for her ideal second birth. I won't give away the details, but really.. we were amazed by this story. We know you will be, too. Jessica, like many of us, had a negative view on birth. We always say this, but everyone LOVES to share a negative birth experience with an expecting mama, right?! It's so easy to be scared by what we've heard or by how birth is portrayed, but Jessica decided to simply step away from the negativity and replace it with positivity, and listening to positive birth stories is a beautiful, easy way to do that! Jessica and her husband opted for a birth center for their first and her labor came on fast! We love that she discussed that she had a bleeding scare post partum because complications are something it's SO important to discuss with your care provider, no matter where you're birthing. Being prepared and knowing your provider is prepared will put your mind at ease. Jessica is a super talented artist, so be sure to check her out on Instagram! After a 3 year struggle with infertility, Lindsay and her husband both decided from the jump that a natural birth was their ideal birth space for their first baby. Labor was quick and easy and exactly what Linsday hoped for. Lindsay touches on the baby blues she experienced after her first and how she struggled with postpartum depression after baby #2. The importance of speaking to someone when you're having a similar experience can't be stressed enough. Asking for help doesn't make you weak - it makes you stronger! Lindsay recommends (and so do we!) Ina May's Guide to Childbirth - https://amzn.to/2H1a5sg Follow Lindsay's story on Instagram. And also, make sure you're following us, too! We have to thank Lindsay again for being so kind and sharing her story with us TWICE! She was our very first interviewee and our recording situation wasn't quite up to par in the beginning! Thanks again for the feedback and great reviews! We appreciate each and every one of you who has stuck with us.
