Is Your Chiropractic Care Plan a Sales Pitch or a Health Strategy? Understanding the Difference | The Prime Podcast Have you ever left a doctor's office with a recommended care plan and felt a wave of skepticism? It's a common experience, especially in chiropractic, where the purpose behind a structured plan is one of the most misunderstood aspects of care. Patients often turn to social media forums, asking friends, "Does this seem right?" creating a massive gray area filled with confusion and misinformation. In Episode 343 of The Prime Podcast, Dr. Skip and Dr. Julie Wies pull back the curtain on this "taboo" topic. They explore why the concept of a care plan is so divisive and why clear communication between a doctor and a patient is the most critical factor for a successful health outcome. This episode is an essential guide for any patient who wants to feel empowered and confident in their healthcare decisions. The doctors break down the two fundamental philosophies of care you'll encounter: Symptomatic Care: The reactive, "quick fix" approach. This is for when you just want immediate pain relief for a headache or back pain and have no long-term goals. Vitalistic Care: The proactive, wellness-focused approach. This is for patients who want to address the root cause of their issues, prevent them from recurring, and achieve a higher standard of overall health. Using a brilliant "fruit salad vs. veggie salad" analogy, Dr. Skip and Dr. Julie illustrate what happens when a patient's expectations don't align with a doctor's standard of care. They discuss why a chiropractor who is truly invested in your long-term wellness will always recommend a plan, and why "just come in when it hurts" can lead to a cycle of recurring problems and the false belief that "chiropractic didn't work." Furthermore, they tackle the thorny issue of insurance, explaining why the best chiropractors are often out-of-network and why that should be seen as a green flag indicating a commitment to wellness over "sick care." KEY TAKEAWAYS Communication is Key: A successful healthcare experience depends on the patient and doctor being on the same page with their goals and expectations before care begins. Vitalistic vs. Symptomatic: Understand which philosophy your chiropractor follows. Are they focused on proactive wellness and fixing the root cause (vitalistic), or just reactive pain relief (symptomatic)? A Care Plan is a Standard of Care: A structured care plan is not a sales pitch; it is a doctor's professional recommendation based on your history, exam, and health goals to achieve lasting results. Don't Ask the Internet, Ask Your Doctor: If you have questions about your care plan, the most qualified person to answer them is the doctor who created it based on your specific case. Insurance Doesn't Dictate Health: The best healthcare providers often operate outside of insurance networks because they refuse to let a third party dictate a standard of care that is focused on sickness, not wellness.

The Glymphatic System is the brain's newly discovered waste clearance system. It acts like a highly specialized lymphatic system for the central nervous system, flushing out toxins and metabolic waste, including proteins like amyloid-beta, which are associated with Alzheimer's disease. The glymphatic system is most active during sleep and is powered by the rhythmic movement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).Chiropractic care, particularly through its influence on the spine and nervous system, is theorized to have a direct impact on the function and efficiency of this vital brain cleansing process.1. Chiropractic Care and CSF FlowChiropractic adjustments aim to restore proper motion and alignment to the vertebrae, particularly in the upper neck (cervical spine). This area is crucial because:Dural Tension: Misalignment in the upper neck (subluxations) can create tension in the surrounding connective tissues, which are continuous with the dura mater (the membrane covering the brain and spinal cord). This tension can mechanically impede the optimal flow of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF).Optimal Fluid Dynamics: Since the glymphatic system relies on the pulsatile flow of CSF to exchange fluid and clear waste, ensuring the craniocervical junction (where the head meets the neck) is functioning optimally is essential. By reducing tension and restoring alignment, chiropractic adjustments may help maintain the natural, unimpeded "pumping" action required for efficient CSF and, thus, glymphatic movement.2. Impact on Autonomic Nervous System BalanceChiropractic care is well-known for its ability to influence the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), which controls involuntary bodily functions. The Vagus Nerve: The upper cervical spine is close to the brainstem and key areas of the nervous system, including the vagus nerve. Adjusting this area can help shift the ANS from a state of "fight or flight" (sympathetic dominance) toward a state of "rest and digest" (parasympathetic dominance).Better Sleep, Better Clearance: The glymphatic system is most active during deep, restorative sleep. By promoting a parasympathetic state, chiropractic adjustments can help patients achieve deeper, higher-quality sleep, directly enhancing the hours dedicated to crucial brain detoxification.3. Benefits for Overall Brain HealthBy optimizing CSF and supporting the nervous system, the benefits of combining chiroThis podcast welcomes your feedback here are several ways to reach out to me. Healing is definitely NOT about pushing harder, cracking through tension, or forcing pain out. Healing begins with listening—listening to the body's whispers, to the stories held in our nervous system, to the stillness before transformation. Today's guest, Dr. Teri Meyer, is more than a chiropractor with a master's in neuroscience. She is a healer attuned to the subtle language of the body—a quiet revolutionary who bridges science and soul, helping people move from pain into harmony, from contraction into expansion. In this conversation, you'll hear how pain and posture reveal hidden stories, how the nervous system carries both trauma and possibility, and how opening the body expands our capacity to receive life itself. We talk about: Letting go versus holding on Identity shifts and the “messy middle” of change Embodiment practices—from screaming into a pillow to hugging it softly—that create space for healing The unexpected gifts of pain, and how contraction always precedes expansion This is not a conversation about fixing. It's more about gently unfolding. It's about remembering that our bodies know, even when our minds resist. For anyone “walking through the fog,” this episode offers not a quick answer, but gentle companionship on the path back home to yourself. As you listen, notice what lands in your own body. Where do you feel contraction? Where is there space? Stay with it. Healing begins here. And how Corrective Exercises and Chiropractic work so much better when combined.—How 80% of the first-responders for the 9-11 disaster suffered from PTSD, but only 20% of those first-responders had PTSD if they were treated with Auriculotherapy (Ear Acupuncture). —Why Dr. Prather says his office is "pretty much 100% successful" when treating migraine headaches.—The amazing effectiveness of Acupuncture in immediately relieving pain, including severe abdominal pain associated with polycystic ovaries and menstrual cramps. —The 5 pathways of pain that guide Dr. Prather's approach to pain relief. —The natural products used at Holistic Integration that are more effective than prescription drugs in reducing pain and without the dangerous side-effects. And how Glucosamine and Chondroitin are more effective than NSAIDs for Osteoarthritis. —How Parkinson's and Dementia patients can see incredible improvements of symptoms through proper alignment of their Atlas and eliminating the forward head posture.http://www.TheVoiceOfHealthRadio.com
In this episode of Ask Dr. Tony, Dr. Tony Ebel breaks down the modern understanding of subluxation and how it affects children's neurological development. Moving beyond the outdated "pinched nerve" theory, Dr. Tony explains how subluxation is actually a sensory input problem that creates "noisy brain syndrome" in children with autism, ADHD, and anxiety. He reveals why the brain itself is typically fine in these children - it's getting bad information due to fixation and reduced proprioception from spinal misalignment. Dr. Tony emphasizes that the neuromotor system's input is more crucial to brain function than gut health, challenging common assumptions about childhood developmental challenges. This episode provides hope for parents by explaining that their children's brains have all the necessary components to heal and function properly once the interference is addressed.-----Links & Resources:For a deeper understanding of subluxation and its effect on children's health: Read this article-----Key Topics & Timestamps([00:01:00]) - The Sequence of Subluxation: From Physical Trauma to Misalignment([00:02:00]) - Old vs. New Theory: Moving Beyond the "Pinched Nerve" Model([00:04:00]) - The Real Issue: Subluxation as a Sensory Input Problem([00:05:00]) - Hope for Parents: The Brain is Fine, It's Just Getting Bad Information([00:06:00]) - Noisy Brain Syndrome: Why Kids Can't Hear Instructions-- Follow us on Socials: Instagram: @pxdocs Facebook: Dr. Tony Ebel & The PX Docs Network Youtube: The PX Docs For more information, visit PXDocs.com to read informative articles about the power of Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care. In this episode, I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Titus Chiu, a holistic concussion expert, to explore the intricacies of concussion and post-concussion syndrome. Dr. Chiu shared his personal journey that inspired him to specialize in brain health and develop innovative, natural approaches that go beyond conventional medicine. We discussed what really happens to the brain after a concussion, why every case is unique — like a fingerprint — and why the outdated “one-size-fits-all” approach so often fails. Dr. Chiu highlighted the critical importance of the blood-brain barrier, the autonomic nervous system, and the need to address the physical, chemical, and emotional pillars of brain health for lasting recovery. This conversation reinforced my belief that recovery is always possible with the right diagnosis and a multimodal treatment strategy. If you or someone you know is struggling with lingering brain symptoms, you'll find actionable insights — and real hope — in this episode. Key Takeaways: Concussions can vary greatly and do not always result in loss of consciousness, emphasizing the need for awareness around different symptoms and personalized treatment. A holistic approach involving the physical, chemical, and emotional pillars is crucial in diagnosing and treating post-concussion syndrome effectively. Blood-brain barrier health is essential to prevent ongoing brain inflammation, which can lead to more severe conditions if left untreated. Nutritional interventions, including omega-3 fatty acids and polyphenols, alongside specific supplements, can significantly aid in concussion recovery. The complexity of concussions requires a thoughtful, informed approach using advanced diagnostic tools and interventions for optimal recovery outcomes. More About Dr. Titus Chiu:Dr. Titus Chiu is a two-time #1 bestselling author, award-winning international speaker, and holistic brain expert that specializes in healing concussions, naturally. Dr. Chiu has a passion for empowering health-conscious people with the knowledge, insights, and practical actions needed to heal their brains and reclaim their lives after concussion– through advanced brain testing, state-of-the-art treatment technologies, and his clinically-proven concussion recovery programs. Dr. Chiu is the author of BrainSAVE! and Leaky Brain Fix. He works with patients and private clients from all over the world, both online and in-person at his holistic brain centers in California.
