Marketing and social media weren't part of Kelly Roach's world when she grew up just above the poverty line in rural Pennsylvania. She cleaned toilets to pay for dance lessons and learned early that hustle trumps circumstance. That same grit propelled her from an entry-level sales desk to the youngest vice president at her Fortune 500 company in just eight years, landing the “impossible” accounts her peers had chased for years. Instead of settling, she rose at 5 a.m. to build a coaching side hustle that became an eight-figure enterprise guiding founders from six to seven figures. In this episode, Kelly unpacks her five-step Conviction Marketing framework and three-tier pyramid that turns ordinary how-to content into a category-of-one brand. Welcome to The Bridge Between Us Podcast, where we navigate the challenges and opportunities of walking alongside LGBTQ-identified loved ones from a Biblical perspective. Hosted by Melinda Patrick, today's solo episode is all about being your own advocate as you build a support team for your personal journey. In Today's Episode, You'll Hear About: The importance of a support system and how Jesus' story of raising Lazarus teaches us that no one walks the journey alone. The need for Godly counsel and guidance in your healing process. Signs to look for that indicate you might need professional help, including counselors or therapists, to aid you through grief or trauma. How to interview a counselor to ensure they align with your Biblical convictions and are a good fit for your needs. Practical questions you should ask potential counselors to be your own advocate. The role of trusting in God's process and finding freedom not just for your loved one, but for yourself too. Key Scriptures Discussed: John 11:44 – The story of Lazarus: Jesus doesn't expect us to walk alone. Galatians 6:2 – Carry one another's burdens and fulfill the law of Christ. Romans 8:28-29 – God works all things for our good and transforms us into the image of His Son. Proverbs 11:14, 20:5, 24:6 – The wisdom and safety found in seeking godly counsel. Key Takeaways: Building a support team of friends, prayer warriors, counselors, and more is essential to emotional and spiritual healing. A biblical counselor can provide guidance and a fresh perspective when you're stuck in grief or difficult circumstances. As a self-advocate, you have the right to interview and find the right counselor who aligns with your values. Healing and freedom aren't just for your loved one—they're for YOU too. Your journey is just as much about your own transformation. Red Flags: Signs You May Need Help Melinda shares some red flags to watch for to determine if you might be struggling with grief or trauma: Difficulty remembering the last time you laughed or enjoyed time with loved ones. Struggling to engage in activities you once loved. Feeling emotionally drained by everyday tasks. Avoiding people or conversations. Trouble celebrating others' successes. Feeling overwhelmed by bitterness, guilt, or sadness. Questions to Ask Your Counselor: How does your Christian faith influence your approach to therapy? What's your view on marriage and gender? What do you believe about homosexuality, and how does that affect your counseling approach? Do you see the Bible as the final authority in your practice? These questions will help you determine if a counselor aligns with your faith and values before diving deeper into the therapeutic process. In this episode, Lisa and Megan discuss:Understanding the role of a school counselorThe benefits of independent educational consultants (IECs)Collaboration between school counselors and Independent Educational ConsultantsHow families can get support navigating college admissions based on their budgetKey Takeaways: Many school counselors manage an average caseload of 400+ students, handling not just college advising but also mental health crises, IEP/504 plans, scheduling, and graduation requirements, making it essential for families to stay proactive in communication.IECs provide individualized guidance, helping students stay on track with applications while also reducing parent-student tension by acting as an external mentor and neutral advisor. Many students do not absorb key college planning information the first time it is presented, making it crucial for parents to reinforce messages and for students to engage with multiple sources, whether through school counselors, IECs, or self-research.Families of all budgets can access valuable college resources, including free podcasts, social media content, webinars, and local scholarship panels. At the same time, IECs often provide affordable hourly consultations or specific services like essay coaching. “[Your school counselor's letter] is the story behind your transcript, and it's the story behind your letters of recommendation.” – Megan RoseAbout Megan Rose: Megan Rose is a dedicated independent educational consultant with a background as both a high school social studies teacher and a school counselor at one of New Jersey's top public high schools. Our focus in this episode is on friendships and close bonds. How does a brain tumour diagnosis affect our loved ones and who can we turn to for support or advice when we don't want to worry or upset those closest to us? To answer that question, Andy Tudor talks to five women who were all treated at the same hospital for the same meningioma diagnosis but who only met through one of The Brain Tumour Charity's online peer support groups. They describe that group as "invaluable", "a lifeline" and as "each other's aftercare." What's more, four of them have teamed up to take on The Twilight Walk together on 22 March - roping in some of their relatives too! Their efforts will mean The Charity can continue to fund things like our support services as well as much needed research into brain tumours. The concept of 'who, not how' emphasizes the importance of finding the right people to help you achieve your goals instead of trying to do everything yourself. Stephanie Ross, an entrepreneur and business mentor, and Kristen discuss the concept of 'who, not how.' The idea comes from the book 'Who Not How' by Dan Sullivan and emphasizes the importance of finding the right people to help you achieve your goals instead spinning in indecisions or trying to do everything yourself. This concept applies not only to business but also to personal life, and can be implemented by hiring interns, event planners, or other experts to assist with tasks. Delegating tasks and outsourcing can be challenging, but it is important to consider the cost-benefit analysis and the value of your time. Intentional connections and collaboration are key to implementing 'who, not how' and can lead to positive ripple effects in all areas of life. Reflect on who you need in your life and what is stopping you from connecting with them. 00:00Introduction to Stephanie Ross 01:53Introduction to the Concept of 'Who, Not How' 04:43Implementing 'Who, Not How' in business 08:24Applying 'Who, Not How' in Personal Life 12:18Collaboration Over Competition 14:43Building a Support Team for Motherhood 21:38Collaboration and 'Whos' in Different Areas of Life 27:09Closing Thoughts and Actionable Questions Stephanie Ross is a passionate entrepreneur who aims to inspire and motivate wherever she goes. This is one of the hardest topics to deal with. Yet, historically, God has been pleased to use the process of raising personalized support, and the consequent partnership is material and spiritual, which has been the predominant means of missions ministry for hundreds of years. This now becomes an integral part of your ministry. It is not "other" than your ministry. It is a priority part of your ministry. You can find a balance. You need some help to do it. God will be faithful. Both in skill sets and in financial means, you cannot do ministry on the field without doing the support raising to make it happen.

And we'll close with U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, who has already offered two federal legislative proposals to begin responding to the epidemic of loneliness and isolation here in the state and across the nation.
Do you have a team member that might be neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, other)? Or do you have people on your team who just think and work differently than you do? This episode is for you! Join me for a discussion focused on Neurodivergence, but relevant for trying to better understand and support people who are just wired differently than you are. Marjorie has spent her life experiencing neurodivergence, and has spent years researching the topic and supporting people related to challenges and gifts around it. If you struggle working with certain team members or just want to continue to improve your leadership skills, this episode will provide you a window into neurodivergence and tangible steps to help them thrive! Top Quotes: "The things that are hard for other people are often easy for more neurodivergent brains. If it's in their strengths area and the things that are easy for other people are often very difficult, the simple mundane stuff. "One thing you can do as a leader is topave the pathway and create a brave and safe space where you help create a culture help create a culture where it's okay to function in different ways and that when someone is struggling that you get curious with them" "Trust people when they ask for support, when they ask for accommodations, even if it to you seems like, how on earth can this be difficult? Because for a lot of folks with neurodivergence, that's exactly what it is. What, to you, is like a no brainer is like climbing Mount Everest to them." "Which parts of this do you think are easy for you and where do you anticipate yourself struggling and how can we support you? What kind of support do you need in order to do that well or to make that a little easier?" "ADHDers or a lot of neurodivergent folks, they can do incredible peak performance. They can outperform other people when they're really lit up about something. But that is not a state that is perpetually sustainable. So make use of it when it shows up and give a little breathing room when it's not there" Marjorie Schreurs https://soulsticecoaching.com/ hello@soulsticecoaching.com
