We are blessed to have a very international patient population at our clinic in Minneapolis, helped by the Twin Cities reputation as a safe and supportive place for immigrants, refugees and asylees. With roots abroad, many of our families frequently travel home, where infectious disease exposures carry a unique profile compared to that of the U.S. It is therefore not surprising that having a returning traveler with fever, especially when ill appearing, can be a stressful trip down infectious disease memory lane. Today's episode will explore fever in a returning traveler and tools to narrow your differential during these encounters.

In Minnesota, we are currently grappling with yet another measles outbreak, a danger that is entirely avoidable with adequate vaccination rates. This is the reality of a post-COVID era defined by politicized basic healthcare and well-funded anti-vaccination groups striking fear in well intentioned parents. Indeed, conversations with vaccine hesitant parents can be some of the most challenging in our work as pediatricians, taking not only time in tight schedules but also extreme patience and resolve. This episode's cases will explore evidence-based communication strategies to address vaccine hesitancy released by the AAP earlier this year. With the help of vaccine expert Patsy Stinchfield MS, CPNP-PC, we'll also delve into public health interventions to consider for our current outbreak.

A 2022 promotion for the tv show Stranger Things projected giant rifts - doors to the upside down world - on buildings and landmarks around the world. This year the Israeli flag is being projected onto buildings in the same way, something quite eerie considering that the flag's hexagram star is a symbol of Saturn, Baal, Apis, Moloch, and Remphan, according to the Bible, which goes on to relate it to Satan - the great liar and distorter. Simultaneously, we are watching Taylor Swift take up headlines with her Eras concert tour and theater film, while her boyfriend promotes the Eris shot and her security guard leaves to fight for the IDF. Her concerts and theater showings are also being plagued by pandemonium and chaos, or what has been termed a lack of etiquette or civility. People are reverting to animalistic behavior and have near zero consideration for others around themselves, which is precisely what the Greek goddess Eris is known for in mythology - as is Satan. You can also find eris inside of ISRaEl. This behavioral de-evolution is a byproduct of the opening of a cultural rift between extreme ideological groups that wave their respective symbols in magic rituals they aren't even aware they are involved in. It is the ultimate tribalism of war, all validated by social feedback loops and moral licensing. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

In this podcast, Kristina Lindström and Kristian Petri (Swedish film makers) reflect on their documentary film 'The most beautiful boy in the world' (2021) and their professional relationship with the film's protagonist, Björn Andrésen. Björn came to international fame at the age of 15 when Italian director Luchino Visconti cast him as Tadzio, the young boy in his film 'Death in Venice' (1971). Kristina and Kristian comment on the long-term impact of childhood trauma on the mental well-being of Swedish artists such as Björn Andrésen and Astrid Lindgren. They comment on the need for clear rules of engagement and professional boundaries between artists and executive managers to avoid physical and psychological exploitation of those artists. "Something was moving towards them - coming from down the hall. Carlos swore he could see something back in the shadows. Whipping their flashlights around - they DID see something. They all three saw a small, dark, evil creature quickly approaching them from no more than twenty feet away…" This weeks Scared To Death is truly unlike any other episode! Dan and Lynze welcome a VERY special guest, Mustafa Gatollori from A&E's Ghost Hunters!  The episode begins with Dan sharing the tale of the Worley Hospital in Pampa, Texas. The iconic Worley Hospital has been abandoned for many years after originally being built in 1929 to accommodate the fast growing oil town. Two cousins decided to buy the building with hopes of turning it into a B&B. Those hopes and dreams come to a halt when both cousins begin to experience paranormal activity. Dan and Lynze will talk to Mustafa about how he and his team explored the hospital to try and help the cousins out.  But before that happens, Dan has another frightening encounter in the Worley Hospital to share. Three young friends break into the old building after hearing tales of its haunted hallways for years. They don't last very long. Between the rats and the faint giggling of someone who isn't really there, the friends get their fill and make a run for it.  After chatting with Mustafa, Lynze takes us back to our usual content. She has two stories this week. The first story is told by a fan who thought she and her friends were just making up an imaginary friend only to find out they may have brought something else to life. Listen to the story of Emily Rose (not that one). From there, Lynze exposes us to a new piece of Mexican folklore. The tale of a Lechuzas Brujas! Supposedly, these are women who sell their souls to the devil to gain super natural powers but the price is that you become an owl. Hear the story of one families close encounter with the Lechuzas Brujas.  Thank you for continuing to send in your stories, Creeps and Peepers! Please keep doing so.
