Fran works as a project manager for a marketing company, and she is responsible for securing new clients and then managing their projects to completion. We find Fran finishing a conversation with one of her clients. “Yes, Marge, I will do my very best to have that ready by tomorrow. Uh-huh, yes, I understand. Okay, Marge, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.” Fran hangs up the phone and begins talking to herself, forgetting for a moment that Jesus, of course, hears everything she says or thinks. “I don’t believe that woman. She is going to drive me nuts! Nothing we do is good enough for her. She makes last minute changes and then expects me to work miracles. And she is so rude. I really can’t stand her!” Quietly she can sense the Spirit of God whispering to her: “Did you ever think that I love her as much as I love you?” The thought startles her. “Well, yeah sure I knew that,” she thinks out loud. “You love everybody, Lord. But she’s a really nasty, demanding person. I’m sorry; I just don’t like her.” As these thoughts continue, her mind goes back to a recent sermon she heard. Her pastor said there were people Jesus didn't like, but he loved everybody. He said you don't have to like everybody, but our commandment is to show God's love to everybody. “I thought you have to like someone, then you can love them,” Fran says to herself, “but I guess that's not the way it is with God. The problem is, I just don't know how to do it. There’s just no way I can love Marge. She’s obnoxious!” “Do you want to love her?” again that quiet voice of Jesus catches her up short. “Do I really want to love her? Tell you the truth—not really,” Fran admits. “I guess that’s my problem, isn’t it, Lord? But how can I even want to love someone like her?” Fran exclaims. As she sits and thinks about that, Jesus says to her, “You can want to love her simply because you want to please me. I can help you love her. Why don't you begin by praying for Marge every day?” “Pray for Marge every day?” Fran repeats. “Really—will that make a difference?” Jesus says, “It will make a difference in you, and that's what is important.” Fran determines to pray for Marge as Jesus has challenged her. Now she begins to do the work she promised Marge tomorrow, working diligently to get it perfect, because Marge is very demanding. The next morning Fran is driving to work and praying for a lot of people, as she often does, and Marge comes to mind. “I’d like to pray that lightning will strike her,” Fran says with a grin, knowing she halfway means it. But she attempts to pray for her, “Dear Lord, please help Marge to see how obnoxious she is and change the way she treats me.” Her prayer bounces off the car ceiling; she knows it’s the wrong prayer. “Pray that Marge will change?” Jesus says to her. “That's not exactly how you should pray for her, Fran.” “But Lord, she should change. Her behavior is awful,” Fran defends herself. Her spirit is uneasy. Somehow, she has to get beyond this selfish kind of praying, even though Marge is difficult. She can't change Marge; she can only change herself. “Well, what should I pray?” Fran finally asks. And then she thinks of something she heard on the radio—praying she could see Marge the way God sees her. Praying for a new frame for Marge, a new way to see her, by putting her in a different frame. “Put her in a different frame,” Fran thinks. “I guess I can do that, but she really is obnoxious.” As she drives along, she thinks about that further. “I guess I've had her in the obnoxious frame too long. Maybe I should pray for a new frame for Marge—a new way to look at her.” Even though she feels a little foolish and not totally sincere, in obedience Fran starts her prayer again: “Dear Lord, please help me to see Marge the way you do. And please give me a new frame to put her in. There’s got to be something good about her, Lord. Please show me what that is.” As she arrives at work, she is under a great deal of pressure to get this job completed for Marge, as she promised yesterday. There’s no time for lunch, so she stops at the vending machine for some crackers to munch on at her desk. When she returns there is a voice mail message from Marge, demanding an immediate call back. “Even her telephone messages are intimidating,” Fran says, and she dreads having to call her back. But she starts to make the call. “Pray first,” Jesus quietly says to Fran. She puts down the phone and prays briefly, “Please give me a kind heart toward Marge. Please, Lord, help me to see her as you do, and please give me a new frame to put her in!” With that short prayer, she returns the call. An abrupt telephone greeting tells Fran she’s reached her. “Hi, Marge, sorry I missed your call but everything’s coming along pretty good. We ought to be able to have this ready for you by 4:00 or so this afternoon if nothing unforeseen happens,” Fran explains, trying to sound cheerful and confident. “You mean, you can’t have it before 4:00? What’s taking so long for such a simple report? You people drag your feet over there so you can bill more hours! I could have done it myself by now,” Marge yells back at Fran, and Fran’s heart starts beating a mile a minute. “Remember, you asked for a new frame for Marge,” Jesus reminds her. “She’s still obnoxious,” Fran thinks to herself. “I can’t see any other frame for her.” Jesus says to her, “Fran, anyone this angry has to be frightened.” “Frightened? Marge? What would frighten her?” Fran thinks. “Maybe I should find out.” Fran hears herself saying, “Marge, sounds like things are pretty hot over there; you must be under some tremendous pressure.” “Fran, you don’t know the half of it! They’re trying to take my job away from me and give it to some young chic—save them a ton of money, I guess. They’re just looking for one excuse, and I’m out of here. Yeah, it’s hot over here.” Marge pauses realizing she’s said much more than she intended to. “But that’s neither here nor there. I expect to hear from you no later than 4:00.” And with that the conversation ends. Fran now has a new frame for Marge: Frightened. She works frantically to complete the job on time, and a little after 3:30 she has it done. “Whew, we made it, Lord,” Fran says to Jesus, as she calls Marge. The same abrupt greeting comes as Marge answers the phone, and Fran tells her she has the report ready to email to her. “How many pages is it?” Marge asks. “It’s about 12 pages,” Fran replies. “Took you all this time to do 12 pages?” Marge replies with sarcasm. Everything in Fran wants to strike back at Marge. She killed herself to get this report ready, and Marge can’t even say thank you. She opens her mouth to voice some of her frustration, but she hears Jesus say, “Remember Marge’s new frame: Frightened.” And suddenly Fran can see Marge in this new frame, with fear all over her face. Instead of venting her anger, Fran says, “I agree, Marge, as hard as I’ve worked seems to me like it ought to be about 100 pages. But I wanted to make sure there were no errors and that everything was laid out very clearly. If you have to present this to your management, you don’t need a silly error making you look bad, I figured.” The phone is quiet for a few seconds, and finally Marge says, in a quieter manner, “Well, that’s true. At least you kept your promise and got it to me by 4:00. Send it to me right away, and uh, thanks, Fran,” and with that she abruptly hangs up. “Thanks, Fran! Did you hear that, Lord? She has never before thanked me for anything,” Fran says in amazement as she hangs up the phone. “I guess new frames can help—even with difficult people!” Fran thinks about that conversation. “I didn't say anything to her about being frightened, but I guess the fact that I saw her as frightened rather than obnoxious changed the way I responded to her, and that changed the way she responded to me. Interesting; very interesting,” she thinks with a grin. The next day starts nicely for Fran, thinking she put the latest fire out with Marge, and now it’s back to her normal routine. But about 11:00 Marge calls again and with the same obnoxious tone of voice she says, “Did you really think that report was a finished product, Fran? When I presented it this morning, they asked me a ton of questions I couldn’t answer. It was a half-way job,” and with some further unkind and unrepeatable words, Marge tore Fran’s work apart. Fran’s heart sank like a rock; she knew she had given Marge exactly what she asked for, but now Marge was blaming her for her own omissions and mistakes. Yet how could she defend herself to Marge. She starts to say something, but Jesus reminds her, “Keep your words as few as possible right now.” Often Jesus has taught her when she’s upset, the best thing to do is keep her mouth shut! She mostly listens to Marge who gives her an addendum to the assignment and demands it be ready this afternoon. After she hangs up, Fran says to Jesus, “Lord, I thought we had this problem solved yesterday. I thought Marge was changing the way she treats me. She’s back to obnoxious again.” Jesus reminds her again: “Put her back in the frightened frame, Fran. She is more frightened now than ever. And like a cat caught in the corner, she’s striking out at anyone she can. Obviously, she knows you can’t strike back because she’s a customer.” After some quiet thought, Fran realizes this problem is not going to be solved easily. Marge may never change her ways. But Fran can be victorious in this situation as long as she keeps re-framing Marge and seeing her the way God does. That won’t be easy, but it will be a lot easier than getting upset and angry every time she has to deal with Marge. “Thank goodness I’ve got you, Lord,” Fran says. “I’d never be able to handle Marge without you.” Who is it in your life right now you simply do not like? They may be very unlikable people, but you can learn to see them through God’s eyes and ask God to help you re-frame them and see something positive about them or see behind their behavior so you can understand them better. Why don’t you stop where you are right now and pray for that person? It will start to make a real difference in how you relate to him or her.

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. — Ephesians 4:3 Years ago, when we served a church in the community of Terrace Bay, Ontario, we were far away (17 hours by car) from our extended family. If we wanted to get home quicker (14 hours), we could cross the Mackinac Bridge, which is five miles (8 km) long. When we visited Nova Scotia a few summers ago, we encountered a different kind of bridge. It was the connector at Little Narrows. Actually, it wasn't a bridge but a ferryboat. The crossing is only 150 meters, but it is also part of the highway. I mention these connectors because they are a part of how life unfolds. We don't all have the same journey, but we all have the ability to be a “bridge” that brings people together with the story of the good news of God's kingdom. One of my favorite sayings is this: “You need to build a bridge so that Jesus can walk from your heart to someone else's heart.” We are the connectors, the people of peace that Jesus wants to use. He showed us how to make connections to others, and then he said, “Do the same.” It requires effort and commitment—much like that of the engineers who have colossal bridges and powerful boats. What are you building to help make connections so that people can meet Jesus? Dear Lord, guide us to become the bridges and other connectors that help people to meet you. Help us to build with unity and purpose, secured by the presence of your Holy Spirit. Amen.

“Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds . . . perch in its branches.” — Matthew 13:32 The door opened, and in walked a woman I did not know. She explained that she was from a business downtown that had recently received the Terrific Tuesday Award. (Our church sends a bouquet of flowers each week to a different business or organization in town to encourage the staff and let them know that the church is praying for them that week.) She said she needed to stop in and share her story. The owner of the business had recently been admitted to the hospital with a terminal illness, and the employees were trying to deal with that news when the flowers arrived. The woman said she had been praying and that when the flowers came, she was reassured that God was listening and in control. She wanted to thank us for our part in offering them hope at this difficult time. She also asked if we would continue to pray for the business owner, who was now in palliative care. This helped me realize how we need to remember that God is always at work in the details of our lives. When we began sending flowers on Tuesdays, we had no idea how often it might create an opportunity for sharing God's love and peace. But it helped make connections we hadn't imagined, and we were able to pray and share with people who needed hope and encouragement. Jesus used it to show up in people's lives.  Dear Lord, thank you for opportunities to reach out to all kinds of people so that, like a mustard seed, your kingdom will grow. Amen.

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1 Picture a seed buried deep in the earth — a world of potential hidden beneath layers of soil. Just like that seed, our hopes and dreams are often unseen yet brimming with promise. As the scripture reminds us in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This faith can feel like a time-lapse video of a mighty tree slowly unfolding, rooted in the ground while reaching towards the sky. Much like Noah, who built the ark in dry weather, our actions are often a testament to faith that precedes sight. He stood firm, believing in a future that seemed impossible. Remember, "Tomorrow has a flavor you can smell before dawn — hope is the tongue that tastes it. Therefore, sip the unseen and call for patience to stand by you." So, let's write our faith statement today about the incredible things that await us if we choose to trust. Romans 8:24-25 says, "For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." When we sow these seeds of vision now, we are declaring our belief in the beautiful harvest to come. The roots of hope are reaching into the unseen, planting a future filled with promise. As we continue in this journey, we must remind ourselves: “Hope is roots tasting future fruit.” Let it nourish us, even before we see the blossoms.  As you set forth on this path, remember to declare what you want to see unfold. Just as a time-lapse seed already contains the essence of the tree, your aspirations are waiting to bloom in due time. Remember, to season the present with promises you can't yet touch because the future answers with a quiet, ripening faith of yes as you take a step of faith closer to your dreams." 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “we walk by faith, not by sight.”  Prayer for the Day!Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of faith and the unseen hopes You have planted in our hearts. Help us to nurture these seeds, trusting in Your timing and guidance. May we boldly declare our aspirations and eagerly anticipate the beautiful journey ahead. In Your Holy Name, we pray, Amen.

"Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them." Matthew 7:17-20 In the garden of our lives, we often focus on the beauty of the flowers and fruits, but have you ever paused to consider the roots that nourish them? Just as a fig tree may have lush leaves yet bear no figs, our outward appearances can sometimes mask an inner reality. As we reflect on Matthew 7:17-20, we realize that “every good tree bears good fruit.” The goodness within us is profoundly tied to what we cultivate in our hearts. Imagine standing in front of a mirror that reveals not just your reflection but the roots of your spirit. This mirror isn't a simple glass; it shows the depth of your intentions and attitudes. Colossians 1:10 encourages us to “live a life worthy of the Lord,” urging us to examine how deeply rooted we are in love, kindness, and integrity. Our internal garden determines the quality of our fruits. Luke 6:43-44 says, "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor grapes from brambles." It's easy to claim we are nurturing positivity, but the true testament lies in our outcomes. “Fruit is root testimony” reminds us that our actions are direct reflections of what we cultivate within us. When we sow seeds of righteousness, as highlighted in Galatians 6:7-9, we can expect a bountiful harvest in our lives — one that inspires and uplifts not only ourselves but those around us. As we embrace this idea, let's remember that quality roots lead to quality fruits. In other words, by nurturing a heart full of grace, compassion, and faith, we cultivate an environment where beautiful outcomes flourish. With every act of kindness and every word of encouragement, we strengthen our roots and, in turn, produce the fruits that bless our communities. Amen.  Galatians 6:7 says, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." Amen. Prayer for the Day! Dear Lord, thank you for helping us to dig deep into the soil of our hearts. And allowing our roots to thrive so that our fruits reflect Your grace. Brethren, I pray for you, may your life be a testimony of God's goodness; may His mercy speak for you, His favor surround you, and His hand lift you beyond every limitation. May your steps be ordered, your paths be straight, and your decisions be guided by divine wisdom. May doors long shut open to you, and may helpers arise for you in due season. In Jesus name. Amen.

"Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me." Psalm 42:7  "In God's presence, I dive past the surface clamor, and the deep within me answers the Deep beyond me. The hush becomes a hymn only the soul can hear." Imagine a submarine plunging beneath the ocean's surface, where the noise of the world fades away, and a profound stillness envelops you. This is where true connection occurs — deep meeting deep. Just as Moses entered the thick cloud to commune with God, we, too, are invited to dive into the depths of our spirits, seeking that intimate fellowship with our Creator. "Deep calls to deep,"  Consider the transformative power of contemplative prayer. By repeating a verse, we can create a serene rhythm that draws us closer to God's heart. As we meditate on Ephesians 3:18-19, we grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Our spirits begin to flutter like the wings of a bird taking flight, soaring above the present moment and into the embrace of divine love. Ephesians 3:17-19 says, "... may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." Let us not forget how valuable our silent encounters with God are. As Richard Foster said, “Depth meets depth in silence.” This quietude allows us to lower our barriers and emerge into a realm where we can truly listen. In this space, we find understanding that surpasses mere human wisdom because, as 1 Corinthians 2:10 reveals, it's through the Spirit that we discover the depths of God. When we embrace this invitation to “go beneath the noise,” we are freed from the distractions that pull our attention. As the ocean is infinitely vast, so too is the love that God has for each of us. And like a submarine exploring the deep sea, we discover hidden treasures in His Word — revelations that illuminate our paths and enrich our souls. Amen. 1 Corinthians 2:10 says, "But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God." Prayer for the Day! Dear Lord, we thank You for calling us to a place where Your depths meet our depths. Brethren, may the Holy Spirit help you to quiet the noise around you and within you, so that you may experience the fullness of God's love that casts out fear. May He steady your heart like still waters and tune your spirit to His gentle whisper. Where anxiety shouts, may His peace speak louder. Where weariness lingers, may His presence renew your strength. May the Holy Spirit align your desires with the Father's will, sharpen your discernment, and awaken holy hunger. May your prayers rise like incense and your worship become a sanctuary where worry cannot live. And as you yield, may rivers of living water flow from within you to refresh weary hearts around you. In Jesus name. Amen.

Cut Back to Come Back Stronger!

"Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit." John 15:2  Life is much like a beautiful rosebush; for each stunning bloom to flourish, sometimes we must trim away the excess. Just as a gardener carefully prunes branches to allow more sunlight and nourishment to reach the healthiest parts of the plant, we too can find strength in simplifying our commitments. Remember, “Cut back to come back stronger” is not just a slogan; it is a powerful reminder that focusing on what truly matters can lead to a more fruitful existence. Consider the story of Gideon from the Bible. God instructed him to reduce his army from 32,000 to just 300 men. It's a paradox that in less, there could be more! Through this divine pruning, Gideon's strength was not in numbers, but in faith and purpose. Similarly, when we let go of the distractions and unnecessary obligations in our lives, we can truly harness our potential and shine brightly. Hebrews 12:11 says, "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." In John 15:2, we learn that “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” Embracing this principle allows us to reflect on what truly nourishes our spirits. Just as a gardener knows that while pruning may hurt, the resultant blooms are far more rewarding than allowing barren branches to remain, so too must we recognize that letting go can lead to new beginnings. Remember, "In the garden of life, pruning is a gentle act of faith; what seems like loss often prepares us for greater blooms." So, eliminating what no longer brings joy or purpose will allow the beauty of our true potential to shine through. As you move forward on your journey, I encourage you to identify at least one commitment to trim back. May you find peace in your decisions, and may your life blossom in ways you never imagined. Amen. Proverbs 25:4 wisely states, “Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel.” Prayer for the Day! Dear Lord, grant us the wisdom to recognize what to let go of, and the courage to embrace new beginnings. Help us to focus on Your purpose and trust in the process of pruning. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." James 4:10 In a world where climbing to the top often seems like the ultimate goal, let us remind ourselves of the wisdom of humility. Just like the majestic bamboo that spends years developing its roots underground before shooting up into the sky, our growth often requires patience and unseen hard work. As we cultivate our character, we must embrace the lesson that humility digs deepest. When we nourish our roots, we prepare ourselves for an impactful rise. Consider the moment when Jesus took a humble position to wash His disciples' feet. This profound act of service exemplifies that true greatness comes not from being exalted but from serving others. Philippians 2:5–8 teaches us to adopt the mind of Christ, who, even in His position of authority, chose the humble path, becoming obedient to the point of death. This transformation begins with a willingness to stay low, understanding that there is strength in meekness. Luke 18:14 says, "I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” As we consider James 4:10, let us remember, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” This promise encourages us to plant ourselves firmly in humility, fostering an environment where growth can flourish. The process isn't always visible, but just because our efforts are unnoticed doesn't mean they are unworthy. In fact, great roots lead to remarkable blooms, hidden beneath the surface before they are finally revealed. Remember these words of wisdom, “The lower the root, the taller the shoot,” which remind us that elevation arises from depths cultivated in humility. Let us strive to serve others in unnoticed ways, nurturing those around us while allowing our spirit to grow. At times, it may feel like we are standing still, but like that hidden bamboo, we are preparing for a breakthrough, the dazzling display of what true growth looks like. Amen. Luke 14:11 says, "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Amen Prayer for the Day!As we embark on this journey together, may we remember to relinquish pride and embrace humility. Dear Lord, help us to stay low so that we may grow. Instill in our hearts a spirit of service, guiding us to uplift others while cultivating the roots of our faith. May our lives reflect the beauty of your humility, and let us shine brightly in due time. In Jesus name. Amen.

Feb 12 | 2026 | Hukamnama Sahib | ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਈਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੋ ਭਾਉ ॥ ਓਸ ਨੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਉਪਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਉ ਗੇੜਾ ਆਵਉ ਜਾਉ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸ) ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਵੇ ਜਾਏ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਵ ਜੋੜੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਏ ਮਨ ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਸਹਸਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥ ਕੂੜੈ ਕੀ ਪਾਲਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਚ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ; ਕਦੇ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ; ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ, ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਸੰਜਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ। ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਹਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।੨। ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮੁਠੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਇਆ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਤਲਕੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਆਣਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਭ ਦਾ) ਹਾਕਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, (ਸਗੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ (ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਹੈ। ਮਾਣਸਾ ਕਿਅਹੁ ਦੀਬਾਣਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਸਿ ਭਜਿ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਥੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਨੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਰਹਦੇ ਖੁਹਦੇ ਆਣਿ ਸਭਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਅਗੈ ਖਲਵਾਇਆ ॥ ਅਰਥ: ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੱਸ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਖਿਸਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਹਕੂਮਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਹਰੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ "ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਖੁੰਹਦੇ" ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ) । ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧੪॥ ਅਰਥ: ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ (ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੁਣ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ (ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੪। SHALOK, THIRD MEHL: One who has no faith in the True Guru, and who does not love the Word of the Shabad, shall find no peace, even though he may come and go hundreds of times. O Nanak, the Gurmukh meets the True Lord with natural ease; he is in love with the Lord. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: O mind, search for such a True Guru, by serving whom the pains of birth and death are dispelled. Doubt shall never afflict you, and your ego shall be burnt away through the Word of the Shabad. The veil of falsehood shall be torn down from within you, and Truth shall come to dwell in the mind. Peace and happiness shall fill your mind deep within, if you act according to truth and self-discipline. O Nanak, by perfect good karma, you shall meet the True Guru, and then the Dear Lord, by His Sweet Will, shall bless you with His Mercy. || 2 || PAUREE: The whole world comes under the control of one whose home is filled with the Lord, the King. He is subject to no one else's rule, and the Lord, the King, causes everyone to fall at his feet. One may run away from the courts of other men, but where can one go to escape the Lord's Kingdom? The Lord is such a King, who abides in the hearts of His devotees; He brings the others, and makes them stand before His devotees. "These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word's sake, immediately they stumble." Mark 4:16-17 In our lives, just as a gardener must prepare the soil, we too must cultivate our inner landscapes. Imagine a lush vegetable patch, brimming with potential. But before we can plant those seeds of dreams and aspirations, we must first remove the stones and weeds that threaten to choke them. This week, consider identifying one habit or distraction you can uproot to create space for growth. Think of King Josiah in the Old Testament. He courageously cleared the land of idols, ensuring that the people could once again worship without distractions. Much like Josiah, we must take a bold step to clear away the obstructions in our lives — those things that draw our attention away from what truly matters. Remember to "Unknot the ropes that tether you to yesterday's wreckage. Shake off the clinging dust, and find your stride meant for open fields." Hebrews 12:1 says, "Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." Reflecting on Psalm 139:23-24, we invite God to search our hearts and reveal the hidden distractions that may be cluttering our lives. Are we too hurried? As the quote reminds us, “Hurry is the soil erosion of the heart.” Taking a moment to slow down allows us to identify what needs pruning, making way for deeper roots and more meaningful connections. As you embark on this journey of self-examination, remember the beauty of gardening. Just as we tend to our plants, nourishing them with love and attention, we can nurture our spirits by confessing what needs to go. “Confession is gardening,” not the end of something, but the beginning of fruitful growth. Amen. Psalm 139:23-24 says, "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Amen. Prayer for the Day!Dear Lord, we ask You to guide us in removing the distractions that hinder our growth. Inspire us to make room for Your Word and purpose in our hearts. Help us to clear the clutter so we may deepen our roots in You. In Jesus name. Amen.

The woman . . . said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” — John 4:28-29 It started as an ordinary day. The woman had her routine planned—including going to the well at the hottest time of day, when no one else would be there. She was tired of the looks and the whispers of others. Life had not gone as she had hoped. She was glad to have a house to live in and a man to share it with her. At least he did not seem to mind the rest of her story. As she approached the well that day, the woman noticed someone was there. But she needed water, so she continued to the well and began filling her water jar. The stranger engaged her in a conversation that should never have happened. And yet what he said was amazing. Leaving her water jar behind, she raced back to her village to tell others, “Come and see . . .”! She needed them to know what had happened and that there was hope and life. Jesus chose an unlikely woman to carry out his mission of peace and good news that day. She went from hiding to inviting others to hear the story. Have you ever felt as if your story disqualified you from sharing with others? Well, Jesus is calling. He is inviting you to share with others the message of God's grace and truth. Will you too invite others to come and meet Jesus, who knows everything about us all?  Dear Lord, thank you for interrupting our ordinary life to show us your glory. Thank you for choosing us to share your story. Thank you for bringing us hope and light and truth. Amen.

The following column appeared on January 29th, 1998. It was a favorite column among the readers, and maybe again, for those who are celebrating birthdays this month. After I delivered last week's Warm Thoughts column, I walked to the post office. At the counter stood someone receiving a parcel. It was her 90th birthday that day. I stood there in amazement and deep in thought as she drove away alone on the streets that were glazed with ice. I just thought, "Here is a lady who understands what celebrating life each day really means. She really lives every day of her life." In my mail that day came a letter from a longtime friend and reader of Warm Thoughts. She related about how her friends and family gave her a warm reception on her 80th birthday. She shared with me one of the readings her daughter read, and I feel you too, will enjoy these Warm Thoughts today. "Dear Lord, I'm 80 and there's much I haven't done. I hope, dear Lord, you'll let me live until I'm 81. But then, if I haven't finished all I want to do, would you let me stay a while until I'm 82? So many places I want to go, so very much to see. Do you think that you could manage to make it 83? The world is changing very fast, there's so much more in store. I'd like it very much to live until I'm 84. And if by then, I'm still alive, I'd like to stay till 85! More planes will be up in the air, so I'd really like a stick and see what happens to the world when I turn 86. I know, dear Lord, it's much to ask, and it must be nice in heaven. But I'd really like to stay until I'm 87! I know by then I won't be fast and sometimes I will be late, but I would be so pleased to be around at 88. I will have seen so many things and had a wonderful time. So I'm sure that I'll be willing to leave at the age of 89. Maybe, just one more thing I'd like to say, "Dear Lord, I thank you kindly. But if it's okay with you, I'd love to live past 90!" I Will Rejoice In The LordHabakkuk 3:17-18 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”Talk about a bad day.  This verse is from a time when the people relied very heavily on crops and animals for survival.  This verse states that they have reached rock bottom.  That nothing is going right for them.  If their crops are not producing any food and they have no meat in their stalls, then not only do they have nothing to eat, but they also have nothing to barter with.  Have you ever felt this low?  Have you ever been in a situation where you couldn't really imagine it getting any worse?  That is where this person was when they wrote this.  Even if you haven't been in a situation this dire before, I am sure you can imagine how they must have felt.  Please take a minute and try to put yourself in their shoes.  Close your eyes and imagine you are walking through your fields.  You look from vine to vine just praying for some grapes that you may have missed, or that miraculously grew overnight, but you find nothing.  Now imagine you are walking by your fig tree.  This tree that was once full of figs is now empty.  Next, you walk through the olive crops and pray that there will be some source of food, but again, you find nothing.  You think, at least you have your animals to provide you with food.  However, when you go past the sheep pen, there are none.  When you walk through the cattle stalls, they too are empty.  You realize you have nothing; you have somehow lost it all.  What are you feeling right now?  What are you thinking?  How do you think you would react?  Would you be angry at God?  Would you blame Him for not providing for you?   I am not sure how I would feel or what I would think, but I do not think that my first thought would be to rejoice in the Lord.  The verse says, “yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”  I am thinking that I would struggle to find anything to be joyful about.  I am joyful in God my Savior.  He is amazing, and I love Him so much.  However, when I am at my worst, I am not sure that I would think of that.  I do think I would turn to Him.  I believe I would ask God for His help and for the strength and courage to make it through this difficult time.  But would I rejoice in the Lord?Honestly, I can't picture it.  I can't picture how that would work.  I do know that when life is going against us, and we can't see a way out, that is the perfect time to praise the Lord.  We don't have to see the way out.  We can praise the Lord for being so awesome that He can see a way out even when we can't.  We don't have to praise Him for the situation; we can praise Him for who He is and for what He does for us.  Ok, so now that I am writing this, I am starting to see how this could work.  I guess we wouldn't have to rejoice in being in this dire situation, but we could rejoice that God was in it with us.  However, would we think to do this?  Would it occur to us when the chips are down that we should rejoice and praise the Lord?  My first thought is no, not without someone reminding us, or without some practice ahead of time.  Several things I have been reading over the last few years have been saying that the best thing you can do when you are struggling is to praise the Lord.  The fastest way out of a difficult situation is to praise the Lord while you are still in it, even when all seems lost.  So then, how do we do this?  How do we try to practice ahead of time so that when we really need to remember this, we can?  I have a couple of suggestions, some you may have heard before.  Some I probably even mentioned before on this podcast.  However, I think that's how God works.  He tells us something again and again until we get it.  My first suggestion would be practicing gratitude.  When you are focused on being grateful for things, you can't also be feeling sorry for yourself or feeling miserable at the same time.  Even if you can find just one small thing to be grateful for.  For instance, you have to go to a funeral, and you are really sad, but you can be grateful that the weather is at least holding out for you.  Or maybe the weather had been raining all day, but on the way to the cemetery, the rain stopped, and now you can see a rainbow.  I promise you, no matter how bad things are, there is at least one small thing you can be grateful for.  Practice finding that thing, focusing on it, and thanking God for it.  I promise if you give this a try, you will find more joy in your life.Another suggestion would be to find a few verses that talk about praising the Lord, or rejoicing in the Lord, and either memorize them or post them around your house where you will see them often.  You could put one on your mirror so you see it every time you look in the mirror.  Or, maybe on your fridge, so you read it every time you get something out of the refrigerator.  You could put a note like that on the lock screen of your phone, so when you look at your phone, it reminds you to praise the Lord or rejoice.  Why should you do this now, when everything seems to be going well?  First, if you can get in the habit of praising God all the time, when times are good and when times are bad, I think you will see less and less of the bad times.  I think God loves to reward his children for appreciating Him and thanking Him.  Second, if you don't intentionally get into the habit when things are going good, and it feels easier to praise the Lord and to rejoice, then the chances are a lot less likely that you will do it when everything feels hard.  Another suggestion is to listen to praise music.  I think many of us listen to music.  Maybe it's when you are driving the car, cooking dinner, cleaning the house, whatever the reason, most of us listen to music.  What I am suggesting is that some of the music you listen to is praise music.  What you listen to affects your mood.  You could be in a perfectly good mood, and then an angry song comes on the radio, and if you don't change the channel, you can notice yourself starting to get in a bad mood.  If kids listen to a lot of rap music, they may start to feel negatively towards the police for no other reason than the lyrics that they are constantly listening to are telling them that the police are bad.  Those are examples of how music can negatively affect your mood, but the opposite is true as well.  You can be in a really bad mood, and then an upbeat song can come on the radio, and your mood can change for the better.  If you are listening to praise music about how great God is, then those will be the thoughts flowing through your head.  The music can not only change your mood, but it can also change your outlook on life or your current circumstances.  Some of my friends are really struggling right now.  When all seems lost, it can take a daily or sometimes hourly reminder to praise God in the struggle.  Praise God for any slight sign of improvement.  Praise God for the things that do go right in the day.  Maybe you got up, and everything seemed to go wrong.  But, you know what?  You got up that day, and not everyone can say that.  You are able to walk, and not everyone can say.  There is always something you can praise God for.  Try your best to focus on those things and just keep turning over the other things to God and trust that He will take care of them for you.  It is not easy to praise God and to rejoice when all seems lost; however, it is possible. If you take the time to learn how to praise God, even in the difficult times, I think you will be amazed at how different you feel.  I think you will be amazed at how much more at peace you will feel, even when it feels like things can't get any worse.  Give it a try, what do you have to lose?Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that you pray for everyone listening to this episode today. Dear Lord, we ask that you help us to praise you. You do so much for us, and we don't deserve any of it. You don't do it for any other reason than the fact that you love us completely. Lord help us to see all the things that we can rejoice about, even when we're struggling. Jesus shines a light on all the things we have to be grateful for when we can't see them. Lord, it must be difficult for you when you see us struggling. We ask that you help us through the struggle, that you help us lean into you and praise you for all that you do for us.  Sometimes we feel like all is lost and that there is nothing anyone can do to change the situation. And you know what, that may be true. But you are not anyone, Lord God, you are the Lord of lords and the King of kings.  There isn't anything that you can't do. Help us to remember this Lord. Help us to rejoice when all seems lost because nothing is too big for our God to fix. We love you, lord, you are so amazing, and we are so very grateful for you and all that you do. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26 "A heart checked by God beats to a different rhythm — humility in, mercy out." Imagine your heart as a beautiful garden, flourishing with vibrant flowers and lush greenery. Just as a garden needs attention, our hearts can sometimes become hard and overgrown, losing their tenderness. Ezekiel 36:26 reminds us that God can replace our stony hearts with hearts of flesh, softening our spirits so we can live with compassion and love. Remember, "God does not scorn the cracked vessel; He fills it until the light leaks through." In other words, God delights in a broken spirit — a heart that is open and willing to receive His grace. Like a cardiologist using a stethoscope to check our pulses, we need to examine the condition of our hearts. By acknowledging the signs of hardness, we make room for God's transformative touch to nurture our emotional and spiritual well-being. Psalm 51:17 says, "My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise." I remember Lydia from Acts 16, whose heart was opened to the truth of the Gospel. The softness of her heart not only allowed her to embrace faith but also empowered her to impact those around her. This reflects the essence of our slogan: "Soft hearts, strong lives." When we cultivate tenderness within, our strength and resilience flow naturally. As we reflect on Fenelon's words, which say, "A broken heart is an open heart," we realize that vulnerability leads to deeper connections with others and with God. Similarly, the poet's lines, "Stone hearts sink; flesh hearts float," serve as a reminder that those who remain receptive will rise above the currents of life with grace and poise. Amen, Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Amen Prayer for the Day!Dear Lord,  thank you for softening our hearts and opening our eyes to the beauty of Your grace. Brethren, I ask that the Lord renew your mind, strengthen your hands for the work before you, and anchor your hope in the promise that He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion. May you taste and see that the Lord is good; may gratitude be your song, repentance your daily road, and obedience your delight. And when trials come, may you remember that His grace is sufficient, His power made perfect in weakness. In Jesus' name. Amen.

As the New Year approaches, many of us consider the New Year's resolutions we want to make. Various resolutions can draw our attention, such as weight loss, getting organized, or switching careers. While all of these are common New Year's resolutions, the greatest resolution we can make is to start the year with Jesus, cultivate our relationship with Him, and faithfully follow Him. Developing a stronger relationship with Jesus throughout the year will prove beneficial not only for the present year but also for all years to come. While we will not be completely immune from problems, our lives will become better and more focused on the Lord. The more our lives are centered around Jesus, the more joyful we will be. Soon, we will see that materialism and the things of the world do not fulfill us. They are but empty promises that lead us away from the Lord. We don’t need to chase after these things or follow them. Since we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we should strive to nurture our relationship with Him. This New Year could be the perfect start. Consider what you are struggling with and the help that Jesus can offer. Maybe you are battling a chronic illness or facing the death of a loved one. Give these matters over to Him and trust Him with the New Year. It can be easy to think that this year will be just as terrible as the year prior, but we need to remember that we are making a change. The change from living in accordance with Jesus rather than with the world will prove to be glorious. Protection, safety, and comfort will always surround us. Jesus does not want us to start another year without Him. He wants us to walk with Him and to trust Him. By making this decision, we can truly start living the most whole life that Jesus died for us to have (John 10:10). Intersecting Faith & Life: When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment is, He replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). By doing this, we will be able to live this New Year with our hearts focused on the Lord. Rather than loving the things of this world, we need to change the narrative and choose to love Him. Challenge yourself and see if the Lord is truly your top priority. Is He the one you want to please, or is it yourself? As we enter the upcoming year, we need to examine our hearts and ask ourselves these challenging questions. By answering these questions honestly, we will be able to see where our allegiance lies. If a person has discovered they have not truly placed faith in the Lord yet, they can choose to trust in Him today. This can be done by believing that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 10:9-11). If you believe this, you will have eternal life, forgiveness, and salvation. With this upcoming year, take the opportunity to start the year with Jesus. Choose to faithfully follow Him and love Him throughout every storm of life. Some days will be harder than others, yet the love the Lord has for us knows no bounds (Romans 8:37-39). Since the Lord loves us in this way, we need to love Him too and focus on serving Him. What are your New Year's resolutions? Are any of them centered around Jesus? What would it look like to follow Jesus rather than the world this upcoming year? Dear Lord, please forgive me for focusing on the world rather than You in previous years. I’m choosing to start this year with You and to keep my eyes focused on You. During this upcoming year, help me to fully love You with all my heart, soul, and mind. You are completely worthy of all my love, and I’m sorry I have been far from You for so long. In Your Name, I pray, Amen. "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom," Psalm 90:12 As we stand at the brink of a new year, consider the illuminating image of a countdown candle. Each day we have is like a segment of that candle, slowly melting away yet brightening the path ahead. As you reflect on who you want to become by 2026, let that visual motivate you to embrace each day with intention.  Picture yourself a year from now, a beacon of light shining through the darkness, one who keeps promises made to oneself — a testimony to your commitment to personal growth and service. With every passing day in 2026, the words "integrity," "compassion," and "determination" could echo in the hearts of those around you. Remember Psalm 90:12: "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Each moment is a golden opportunity to shine brighter. James 4: 14 says, "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." Think of Moses, who, from atop Mount Nebo, gazed at the Promised Land — a vision that fueled his mission. Like him, you can envision the life you yearn for, even if it's not fully realized yet. Visualizing your future can turn the flicker of hope into a steady flame, igniting purpose in your daily actions. As C.T. Studd wisely reminds us, “Only one life, 'twill soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last.”  Consider how you want others to describe you. “They became someone who inspires” — let that resonate within you. With each passing day in 2026, may your actions mirror the love and grace you wish to share. Remember, "Heaven holds our passport. So, we travel earth with intention, each step must be a stamp of hope.". Philippians 3:20 says, "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." Prayer for the Day! Dear Lord, thank you for guiding us as we strive to ignite purpose in every moment. Brethren, I pray that the Holy Spirit help you to reflect God's light in all that you do in the year 2026. May His presence steady your steps, His wisdom orders your priorities, and His compassion fill your words and actions. May the fruit of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control — abound in you daily. When challenges arise, may you stand firm in faith, clothed in the armor of God, and anchored in His promises. May your homes be havens of prayer, your work an offering of worship, and your relationships vessels of grace and truth. In Jesus name. Amen.

Full Transcript Below: Reflecting on the True Meaning of Christmas By Vivian Bricker Bible Reading: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:11). A Christmas tradition in my family was watching “A Charlie Brown Christmas” each year. Countless times, I saw this television special, but its meaning would elude me. While I could blame childish ways of thinking, the real reason I wasn’t paying attention to the more profound meaning was that I was rather fascinated by the materialism of Christmas. I loved the gifts, fancy dinners, and elaborate decorations. When I rewatched “A Charlie Brown Christmas” as an adult, I quickly saw all of the connections it had with the Gospel. Linus shares the true meaning of Christmas—the birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. As an adult, I was shocked that this Christmas special continued to air in such an anti-Christian world. Nonetheless, I am thankful this special continues to be shared, and hopefully it has led many people to the true meaning of Christmas. Sadly, so many people still do not know that Christmas is about the coming of Christ. They are blinded to the truth. The devil will continue to blind people; however, Christmas is the perfect way to share the Gospel and combat the devil’s schemes. By sharing the true meaning of Christmas with others, it can help them come to know the Lord as their personal Savior. Intersecting Faith & Life: A classic Christmas passage you can share with others is Luke 2:11: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” From this passage, we are told that a Savior has been born and He is the Messiah. As we share this passage with others, it can help us reflect on the true meaning of Christmas ourselves. During the timespan from the fall of mankind until the coming of the Lord, everyone was awaiting the Messiah. Endless Old Testament prophecies pointed to the coming Messiah, who would bring lasting peace to His people. When Gabriel shares the message detailed in Luke 2:11, the people would have been overjoyed at this wonderful news. The Savior, who would save them from their sins, had finally come. When we reflect on this truth, it helps us understand the significance of the Lord coming down to earth. He is our Savior, who left Heaven in order to save us from our sins. He was humbly born in a stable without any special treatment. Jesus deserved every wonderful thing, yet He entered the world on a silent night. Because of the Lord’s birth into the world, He was able to grow up, live a sinless life, and die for our sins. This is what Christmas is all about, and Jesus is the One we should be celebrating. We can do this by sharing our knowledge of Christ with others. Christmas only comes once a year, yet the Lord sacrificed His life in order for us to have peace every day of the year. Who can you share the true meaning of Christmas with this week? Whenever you are distracted from the true meaning of Christmas, how can you bring your heart back to the Lord? Pray with me: Dear Lord, thank You for showing me the true meaning of Christmas—You. Help me to always stay focused on You and Your birth into the world. Praise Series #9 Praise & Thanksgiving Psalm 145:1-3 “I will proclaim your greatness, my God and king;  I will thank you forever and ever.  Every day I will thank you; I will praise you forever and ever.  The Lord is great and is to be highly praised; his greatness is beyond understanding.”I read this and thought it was a great verse for this series.  I was talking to a friend on the phone, and she mentioned that she was talking to a family member and they had a great discussion on gratitude.  She said they talked about being thankful for this day, the sun, and all the little things.  She was explaining to him how important gratitude is.I was talking with another friend after mass, and she also happened to mention gratitude. She suggested picking one night of the week and having the kids think of at least one thing they can be thankful for and then talking about how important gratitude is.  There are so many benefits to gratitude and no downside.  One benefit of gratitude is that it can help you shift your mood.  You can take any circumstance that you are in and find something in that moment to be grateful for.  No matter how bad the situation is, if you can find something to be grateful for, then it will help shift your mood.For example, if you have lost a loved one recently, you can be grateful that you had that loved one to lose; some people don't.  If you broke your arm, you can be thankful that you still have your arm, or that it will heal eventually.  Some people lose their arms and have to figure out how to live life without them.  Although even in that circumstance, you can be grateful that you didn't lose more than your arm, or you can be grateful that although you lost your arm, at least you didn't lose your life.  These are examples of how you can find something to be grateful for in any situation, even the bad ones.  However, what about the good times?  It is important to be grateful in the good times as well.  Sometimes, when things are going well, we don't take the time to stop and be grateful for it.  Why is this?  Is it that we are just too busy?  Is it that we don't think of it?  Is it because we don't want to jinx it?  I'm not sure why we don't do this more. Maybe it is a combination of all those reasons.  The reason why isn't really important.  What is important is that we start doing it now.  If we want God to trust us with more, then we need to show him that we appreciate what we already have.  What can you be thankful for today?  Can you pause this episode and list five things that you are grateful for today?  They don't have to be big things; it could be as simple as the changing of the leaves or the snow falling.  I find myself so much more grateful this time of year.  I drive around in awe of God's magnificent beauty, and it makes me so grateful to be alive.  What makes you smile, brings you joy, and makes you grateful to be alive?  Have you thanked the good Lord above for it yet?  Why not? You wouldn't have it without Him.  “I will proclaim your greatness, my God and king;  I will thank you forever and ever.  Every day I will thank you; I will praise you forever and ever.  The Lord is great and is to be highly praised; his greatness is beyond understanding.”  I just talked about gratitude and how we should be grateful to God for all that we have.  Now, I want to talk about praise.  This is why I read the verse to you again.  It is so beautiful.  I will proclaim your greatness, my God and king, I will thank you forever and ever.  Do you see how the two sentiments go together so nicely in this verse?  First is the praise, talking about how great the Lord is.  Then it ends with I will thank you forever and ever.  The author is taking time to stop and thank the Lord for all that He has done for him.  Then it says, Every day I will thank you; I will praise you forever and ever.  Do you see how both of these things are so important to the Lord?  He wants us to thank Him every single day and also praise Him forever.  Praising the Lord can be something else that we forget to do.  We don't usually forget to pray to the Lord when we need something; however, praising him is not something that we think to do.  What if you started adding praise into your prayers?  What if, at the same time as you are asking God for something, you were also telling Him how great He is?  For instance, “Dear Lord, I ask that you be with my son as he has a contest at school today.  Please help him to be calm and remember what he has learned.  Please help him to be gracious, whether he wins or not.  Lord, you are truly amazing.  You do so much for us, and we are so very thankful.  I love you, Lord, and I ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen.  Did you see how easy it is to praise the Lord?  It could be as simple as adding a line or two to the prayers you are already saying.  Another time we seem to forget to praise the Lord is after He has answered our prayers.  This may sound strange, as you would think the first thing we would do when our prayers are answered is thank the Lord.  However, sometimes, we don't realize our prayers have been answered.  Sometimes we see good things happen and think we are lucky.  Or we know something great happened, but we don't remember that just so happens to be the exact thing that we were praying for.  It is not that we are trying to forget about God; we just don't see the miracle He gave us.  I have been noticing God's miracles much more often ever since I started writing down my prayers.  I have been making a conscious effort to write down the things I am asking God for and those that others ask me to pray for.  I write them down in a notebook, and then I leave space underneath so I can go back and write notes when they have been answered.  Here are a few answered prayers:My friend's eye was healed!A young severely depressed girl found a treatment center after being told all the beds were filled.My friend is raising more than $20,000 for her mission cause in Haiti.  A woman who was losing hope that her baby would ever get to come home, as he was in the hospital for over a year, got to take her baby home.  Someone else's toe was healed.A woman who had several miscarriages was finally able to get pregnant again and have a healthy pregnancy.A friend who was really ill with COVID and then had a blood clot and was in the ICU for a while is now home with his family.A church was starting a new UNBOUND ministry and wanted prayers for its success.  Their first session was awesome.A friend had to have eye surgery and was very anxious.  She had a very successful surgery and was able to sleep through it all.  A friend's brother needed to find a new residential facility.  He was living on the other side of the state, and it was hard for my friend to get to see him.  Now he is living just minutes away.  God is so good!  He is there answering our prayers.  If you can't see how God is working in your lives, then may I suggest you start writing down your prayers?  Keep a list of all the things you have asked God for, and periodically review it to see if any have been answered.  It's not really if they have been answered as much as it is noticing when they are answered.  Because God tells us, “Ask and it will be given to you.”  He does answer our prayers; we just need to pay attention.  I believe the more you can praise the Lord and thank the Lord, the more you will be aware of His presence in your life.  I don't think that if you praise and thank the Lord, He will show up more; He is already showing up.  I just think if you are praising Him and thanking Him, you will see it more.  Will you take the time to notice Him?Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that you bless all those listening to this episode today.  Lord, we want to praise you and thank you.  We repent for all the times that you answered our prayers, and we did not thank you or praise you.  Lord, we are sorry for all the times that you answered our prayers, and we didn't even recognize that you answered them.  Lord, help us notice this more.  You are so great, and you always answer our prayers, help us to see this every time, Lord.  We love you so much, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus.  I look forward to spending time with you tomorrow. Celebrated songwriter Fanny Crosby wrote over 9,000 hymns in her lifetime, often writing as many as 6 or 7 songs a day. Despite being blind from infancy, she also played harp, piano, guitar, and other instruments, as well as singing soprano. She wrote the lyrics to many well-known hymns and while she did compose music to accompany a few of her songs, she partnered with many talented composers to write the music that accompanied her words.She used as many as 200 pseudonyms to publish her work, with a goal of maintaining humility. The author was admired for both her poetry and her music during her lifetime, but she wasn't motivated by personal fame.Fanny Crosby was so well-known in her day that musicians often came to her for lyrics. One day, musician William Doane dropped by for a surprise visit, begging her to put words to a tune he had recently written and was set to perform at an upcoming Sunday School convention. The only problem was that his train to the convention was leaving in 35 minutes. He sat at the piano and played the tune.“Your music says, ‘Safe in the Arms of Jesus,''' Fanny said, scribbling out the hymn's words immediately. “Read it on the train and hurry. You don't want to be late!” The hymn became one of Crosby's most famous.Fanny Crosby could write very complex hymns and compose music with a more classical structure, but she preferred to write sweet, simple verses that could be used for evangelism. TODAY'S DEVOTION: We are told that the number six hundred and sixty six is the number of a man. A lot has been written about this number. Three sixes, a trinity of numbers. But it is an unholy trinity. It is man, magnified, exalted and worshiped. It is a beastly reality in a stark contrast from the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We're told that great wisdom is required to understand what these numbers mean. And I don't pretend to have that kind of wisdom. But it seems to me that whether it's the queen of Heaven that Jeremiah is confronting or the multi-headed dragon that John describes, the results are the same. When man is deceived by Satan and by the lie of separation, we see destruction in its wake. And in Jeremiah's case, they refused to believe that God was with them, that he would rescue them and give them life. So under that lie, they separated themselves from him and his will for them. And they went to Egypt, a land of exile. And as we look back into the garden, we see that same pattern. Adam and Eve believe that God is not with them. They separate themselves from him. And in their separation, they live in exile in the garden. Over and over through time, through history, this tragic pattern is lived out. In our blindness, we refuse to see God's presence and so we separate ourselves from him, the Triune God of life. And instead we rely on the gods of our own making. And the results are the same. Satan's great strategy has never really varied – from the beginning in the garden to this very moment that John is describing here: seeds of doubt are sown. God is not present. God is not with you. God is not for you. And so, believing we are alone, that God is indifferent and uncaring, we go it alone and we devise a way of life apart from God, from the triune life of love and flourishing that is waiting for all of us. The psalmist tells us a different way in verse nine in today's reading: O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. Our God is like a fortified wall, a citadel, a beacon. That's what our God is like. And we will continue to tell it to future generations. Psalm 48:9. God is not separate from you. God is with you. That is the truth. Align your heart to his will and his purposes, his kingdom, and not your own. Renounce the lie of separation embedded in that number 666 and worship the God who is with us, Emmanuel, the God of love. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: And now let us pray. Lord God Almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day. Preserve us with your mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Dear Lord, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you, bring the nations into your fold. Pour out your spirit on all flesh and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. And now, Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love, where there is injury, pardon, where there is doubt, faith, where there is despair, hope, where there is darkness, light, and where there is sadness, joy. O Lord, grant that I might not seek so much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. It's as if only the harshest metaphors—abandonment, scorn, unfaithfulness—come close to how God has experienced our betrayal. But what Ezekiel means for us to see is not a distant or impassive God, but a God whose heart breaks for his children. God is not cold or removed; he is like a loving parent, or a spouse long-suffering and grieved by unfaithfulness. And in all this, the astonishing truth is that God is determined to restore this broken relationship. The end of the story is not bitterness or vengeance, but a restoration so deep and new that it surpasses every failure—like a wedding feast where God takes back his wayward bride, making all things new. This is a passionate love story—one that shakes us awake, urging us to recognize the depth of God's longing for his people. Yet, even as Ezekiel's words startle us, it is in Jesus that we see the perfect picture. Where the prophet's analogies reach their limits, Jesus reveals God's love in flesh and blood—a love that goes to the deepest cost, to the cross, to bring us home, to restore all that was lost. This is the truth we're called to live awakened to today: the deep, relentless, rescuing love of God, fully revealed in Christ. May we see it. May our hearts be stirred to what truly is—that we are loved with a love beyond our imagining, and that God is working even now to make all things new. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. Do you see it? The vision given to John in Revelation 4 places Christ, the Lamb, at the very heart of heaven—the center of what truly is and what will forever be. All of creation encircles the throne: the four living beings, the elders, and a great choir. Yet, at the core of it all is Jesus. The problem, as Hunter points out, is that we so often lack the eyes to see what is real. We live off-center, with our lives orbiting around lesser things, and as a result, things feel out of order, chaotic, and confusing. But in heaven's vision, everything finds its place around Christ. When he is at the center, worship bursts forth. Life begins to make sense and aligns itself with its true purpose. The many-eyed creatures in the scene are always aware of him; John sees him and writes so we might see him, too. This call is an invitation: to let Christ take his rightful place at the center of our lives, to align ourselves with the one who knows and loves us completely. When Jesus is at the center—of our hearts, our affections, our priorities—worship arises not just in heaven, but here and now, in the midst of our actual days. In participating with his life, we start to experience the joy, power, and purpose we were created for. That's the prayer for today: that we would have eyes to see. That we would live this day with Christ at the center. That worship would break out in our hearts, in our homes, and in all we do. May we, like those in the vision, find our lives ordered, strengthened, and made whole as we center ourselves on the one who is truly at the heart of all things. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all. That's the clear testimony of John in his first letter, and it's one he insists on with careful simplicity. There's no shadow in God, no hidden intentions, no darkness lurking behind His actions, not in some corner of His heart. God is light, and only light. And, John says, he and the other witnesses saw Him with their own eyes, touched Him with their own hands. In Jesus, the fullness of that light shone. Yet, many of us grow up with an uneasy sense that there's a second side to God—light and love on one hand, but wrath, anger, and darkness always close at hand. We might hear it in phrases like, “God is love, but He's also just,” or “God is love, but He's also holy.” We're left wondering if there is a line we might cross, a dividing point between God's kindness and God's judgment, and so we live in a sort of anxious balancing act, trying to stay in His favor and avoid the hidden, darker side of His character. But John sets the record straight: God is light, and God is love. Everything that flows from Him—His holiness, His righteousness, and yes, even His judgments—comes out of that light and love. There's nothing hiding behind Jesus' back; He's not the good cop while the Father is the bad cop. The nature of God is fully revealed in the face of Jesus, and that revelation is pure goodness. The very light of God has invited us, every one of us, into fellowship with Himself. We don't need to fear bringing our brokenness, our sin, and our shadows into the presence of His light. In fact, that is the invitation—bring it all to Him, let His love do what only love can do: expose, forgive, transform, heal, and invite us into real fellowship. Even as there remains darkness in us, it does not change who God is. We are to learn, like John, to see Jesus as He is, to experience Him with our own eyes and hands—to step out of the shadows and walk in the light. That's the prayer for today: to learn the ways of shadow-free living and shadow-free believing; to see God as He truly is, and to let that truth change the way we see ourselves and others, to let it dissolve our fear and shame. May we all come to know—deep in our hearts—that God is only and always light and love. That's my prayer for my own soul, for my family, for my wife and daughters and son, and that's my prayer for you. May it be so. Today, we're going to look at the moment of truth in Gideon's life:Judges 6:12-16 NLTThe angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” “Sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn't they say, ‘The Lord brought us up out of Egypt'? But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.” Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you! “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” The Lord said to him, “I will be with you.”Gideon had the opposite mindset of David, our Bible story from yesterday. But while two different men had two different perspectives of what they could accomplish, one factor was same: God had called them.Gideon even named himself the least man, in the weakest clan, of all the people. In today's language, he would say: “Lord, I'm the last guy you want to pick for this job.” But the Lord said, “I will be with you.” That truth is exactly what gave David and Gideon the courage and the confidence they needed to face their enemies.Do you feel like David today, ready for your big moment, or more like Gideon, “I'm the last person you want to pick, God.”Listen again to what the Lord said to Gideon this time from the Message Bible: ““God is with you, O mighty warrior!” … “God faced him directly: “Go in this strength that is yours. Save Israel from Midian. Haven't I just sent you?” … God said to him, “I'll be with you. Believe me, you'll defeat Midian as one man.” (Judges 6:12, 14, 16 ).What if God appeared to you right now and called you a hero? How do you know He isn't? Maybe he looks upon you and what you are pushing through right now in your life and sees your courage? Regardless of how you may feel or see your life, this much is true: He is telling you to go at your life with the strength you have because He is with you. And He is most definitely saying today: “I will be with you.”Declare this after me: “Lord, I know You are with me.”Let's pray: “Dear Lord, thank You for examples like David but also those like Gideon, so we can see that the Source of our courage and victories are You. Okay, laugh if you will, but when I was in high school, I sang in the chorus. I did! Today, I'm just a backup singer; when I sing, people back up. But back in high school, we had some good times learning our parts, mastering our songs, and performing our concerts. Sometimes, if I was late for our chorus class, I could hear them warming up as I approached the chorus room. And this one warm-up was particularly monotonous: "mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi." Don't change stations. I'm done. I'm not going to do any more singing. But... I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I do want to have A Word With You today about "The 'Me' Song." Now, the spelling is a little different, but the most monotonous chorus in the world still sounds the same, when someone's tune is (and I promise not to sing) "me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me." It is the song of our selfishness, a song we sing far too often. It's the most off-key chorus of all! It's when I'm performing as if it's all about me. Now, we can do better than this if we follow the blueprint laid out in our word for today from the Word of God. It's in Philippians 2:3-8. We're told there, "in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." This kind of self-sacrificing rather than self-seeking is not something that we see very much. So we need an example, and we've got one. The Bible goes on to say, "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus who...made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant... He humbled Himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross." God tells us to follow His Son into an attitude that is all about "you, you, you, you, you" instead of "me, me, me, me, me." And especially in those moments when, like Jesus in His hours of suffering and dying, selflessness is the most amazing. Basically, there are certain times when we tend to enter the "Me" Zone, where we act like things should pretty much revolve around us. We slip into the "Me" Zone when we're feeling sick, when we're feeling stressed, when we're suffering, or when we're just tired and feeling shot. I know this all too well. How do I know this? Well, I have been there way too many times. But the Bible says, "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus." At the time of His greatest pain, His greatest suffering - the time of the greatest suffering any human being has ever experienced, He's carrying the sin of the world - He's dying on the cross and He's still all about others! In the middle of His agony, Jesus is making sure His mother is cared for...He's reaching out to the thief on the cross next to Him, and He's asking His Father to forgive those who crucified Him. That's how your Savior handles being stressed, how He handles suffering, and how He wants to help you and me handle the moments when we just want to think about ourselves. It's at those times when I'm really tired, stressed, when I'm really not feeling good, that I have to reach beyond my feelings and say, "Dear Lord, give me the grace to still think about others when I feel like just thinking about me." In other words, "Jesus, would you please help me, because I want to be like You!"

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” His thoughts about you—his plans for you—are greater and richer and better than you could ever dream. It is his word, this generous food for the hungry, that opens our eyes and minds to his heart and his ways. Isaiah 55:11 says, “It is the same with my word. I send it out and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” All of this is an everlasting sign of his power and his love. So look up, thirsty one, and see what God has done. He has sent the final word—his Son. Open your ears wide and hear God's answer to your thirst, your hunger, your brokenness: it's Jesus, the living Word. So come with your ears wide open. Listen—and you will find life. That's the prayer that I have for my own heart, for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Read OnlineAt that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.”  Matthew 11:25This passage is in stark contrast to the passage just before it in which Jesus chastised the towns of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum for not repenting and believing in Him. And as soon as Jesus issued those rebukes, He turned His eyes to Heaven and offered praise to the Father for revealing the hidden mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven to those who were “childlike.”One of the greatest threats to a pure and childlike faith is intellectual pride. Those who consider themselves as “wise and learned” are often tempted to rely upon their own reasoning abilities to come to conclusions and beliefs in life. The problem is that even though the matters of our faith are fully reasonable, they go beyond the conclusions that human reason alone can achieve. We cannot figure out God by ourselves. We need the gift of faith for that, and the gift of faith begins with a spiritual communication from God through which He reveals to us Who He is and what is true. Only the childlike, meaning, those who are humble, are able to hear this form of communication from God and respond.This passage also reveals to us that Jesus passionately rejoices in this form of humble faith. He gives “praise” to the Father in Heaven for witnessing such faith, because Jesus knows that this form of faith originates from the Father. In your life, it is important that you regularly ponder whether you are more like the wise and learned or like those who are childlike. Though God is an infinite and incomprehensible mystery, He must be known. And the only way we can come to know God is if He reveals Himself to us. And the only way God will reveal Himself to us is if we remain humble and childlike.As we come to childlike faith, we must also imitate the praise that Jesus offered the Father for the faith that He witnessed in the lives of His followers. We, too, must turn our eyes to those who clearly manifest this pure knowledge of God by the gift of faith. As we see this faith lived, we must rejoice and offer praise to the Father. And this act of praise must be given not only when we see faith alive in others, it must also be given when we see the gift of faith grow within our own soul. We must foster a holy awe of what God does within us, and we must rejoice in that experience. Reflect, today, upon Jesus giving praise to the Father as He witnesses the faith born in the hearts of His followers. When Jesus looks at you, what does He do? Does He issue chastisements? Or does His Sacred Heart rejoice and give praise for what He sees. Give joy to the Heart of Christ by humbling yourself to the point that you, too, are counted among the childlike who truly know and love God. My rejoicing Lord, You are attentive to the workings of grace in every human heart. As You see the Voice of the Father speaking to Your children, You rejoice at such a sight. Dear Lord, I pray that my own heart will be the cause of Your joy and Your praise of the Father in Heaven. Please speak to me and help me to believe with all my heart. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Pakistani Christian girl, kidnapped for two years, escapes A Pakistani Christian girl, who this month escaped the Muslim who kidnapped her, said he forcibly converted her to Islam and repeatedly sexually assaulted her as his so-called “wife,” reports Morning Star News. On the night of May 24, 2023, as her family slept, 14-year-old Muskan Liaqat was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home in Sheikhupura District, by Muhammad Adnan and his father Muhammad Arif. Muskan said, “They took me to their home, where they tortured me and forcibly took my thumb impressions on some papers. I was later told that I had become a Muslim and Adnan was my husband.” A member of the Salvation Army church, Muskan said she was treated as a sex slave. She said, “I was raped and beaten by Adnan … on almost a daily basis. As a result of repeated sexual abuse, I got pregnant in 2024.” Severe torture by Adnan resulted in a miscarriage in the fourth month of her pregnancy. She said, “I used to cry all night and prayed to God to rescue me from this hell, but it looked like my prayers were not reaching Him.” The trauma led her to attempt suicide by cutting her wrist. Judges routinely ignore evidence related to the children's ages, handing them back to kidnappers as their “legal wives.” Thankfully, she got away and is now in a safe house. According to Open Doors, Pakistan, which is 96% Muslim, is the eighth most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. South Korean doctor charged with murder after full-term abortion On July 2nd, a South Korean doctor was arrested and charged with murder following the abortion of a full-term baby last year, reigniting national debate over the country's ambiguous abortion laws and medical ethics, reports LifeSiteNews.com. On June 28, Judge Park Jeong-ho of the Seoul Central District Court approved arrest warrants for the surgeon, identified as Shim, and the facility's director, “Yoon.” Authorities allege the child was born alive and then deliberately left to die, which they say amounts to murder through “willful neglect.” The case dates back to late 2024. Evidence suggests that the baby was alive both before and after the procedure. The abortion was allegedly committed via labor induction – a method that, if resulting in a live birth followed by intentional death, could meet the legal definition of murder under Korean law. The Korean Medical Association condemned the incident, stating: “A fetus at 36 weeks is a baby who could survive well if born, and terminating a pregnancy at this stage is tantamount to murder.” Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For You [God] created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Trump's Big Beautiful Bill defunded Planned Parenthood Trump's “Big Beautiful Bill,” which he signed into law on Friday, July 4th, defunded Planned Parenthood for a year, reports LifeNews.com. The defunding provision, outlined in Section 44126 of the bill, effectively terminates Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood for non-abortion services, closing a loophole that has allowed the organization to access federal funds despite the Hyde Amendment's ban on direct taxpayer funding for abortions. Pro-life critics have argued that those Medicaid reimbursements indirectly paid for the abortion giant to kill more babies by abortion. It is the first time that the radical Planned Parenthood abortion business has been defunded. The vote, as we reported on Friday, was 218-214. The new law will redirect hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to community-based, pro-life healthcare providers and away from Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion. Planned Parenthood, which kills over 400,000 babies in abortions annually, received $700 million in taxpayer funds last fiscal year. Death toll in Texas flash floods climbs to 79, 40 remain missing At least 70 people are dead in central Texas after devastating flash floods slammed the Texas Hill Country, with water rescues taking place along the Guadalupe River, which rose rapidly early Friday morning to the height of a two-story building, reports CBS News. (Watch this video to see the rushing water in Center Point, Texas which tears down trees and threatens a bridge.) A dozen are still missing from Camp Mystic in Kerr County, a children's Christian summer camp. 13-year-old Stella Thompson, a camper who survived, talked with the Dallas NBC affiliate. THOMPSON: “You'd see kayaks in trees. It was horrific, because we had no idea. First responders in the water. There were huge trees ripped out of the ground.” Tragically, in a last act of kindness, Richard Eastland, the director of Camp Mystic, died trying to save campers as floodwaters from the Guadalupe River overwhelmed the camp, which is on the banks of the river, reports the San Antonio Express-News. More than 750 girls were at the camp when the flooding struck. The dead include 38 adults and 21 children, with 18 of the adults and four of the children unidentified.  Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott spoke from the heart. ABBOTT: “When Texans face a challenge, we come together, we unite. We will be relentless in going after and ensuring that we locate every single person who's been a victim of this flooding event. We're not going to stop today or tomorrow. We will stop when the job is completed. This is a 24/7 operation, day and night. A 22-year-old woman, who was carried by the raging waters 20 miles from Hunt, Texas to Center Point, survived as she clung to a tree. Carl, who lives along the Guadalupe River, explained what happened to KENS-TV 5. CARL: “True miracle. There's no other way to explain it. “I came up on the deck and she saw me. So, she started to scream out loud. I thought she was in the water going down the river. I finally looked and was able to spot her in the tree. I began to holler back to her. ‘Hey, I see you. We'll get you help. Hang on. Hang on.' Because she was desperate! “After they were able to pluck her out, we brought her into our house and gave her a shower, clothed her because it had stripped all of her clothing off, gave her something to drink, gave her a nap. We called her grandmother in Corpus.” Thankfully, she had no broken bones and only a small wound on the top of her head. He explains that through Christ, Christians have died to the Old Law and are no longer bound by its demands, enabling them to bear fruit for God. The law itself is not sinful, but it reveals sin, emphasizing man's inability to achieve righteousness on his own. Paul shares his personal struggle, acknowledging the inner conflict between his desire to do good and the sin that too often resides within him. This tension exemplifies the human condition: even with a desire to obey God, sin remains a problem. If justification depends on perfectly adhering to the Law of Moses or any law, then there would be no hope. But “thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Marriage illustrates that God's laws, be it matrimony, Moses's Law, or the law of conscience, bind for life. However, death severs this bond, allowing union with another. We should thank God daily for Jesus' death, which frees us from the burden of law and unites us with Him. No law apart from Christ—whether the law of Moses or Gentile morality—can save us, as we all fail to keep the law perfectly. While Christ's law does exist, our justification comes through grace, not perfect obedience. This truth is crucial as we continually wrestle with sin. Like Paul, we often stumble in frustrating, repeated ways. This struggle should deepen our thankfulness for Jesus, where forgiveness and hope are found. Dear Lord, we praise You for the freedom bestowed upon us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for liberating us from the burden of law. None of us can perfectly uphold any law, and without Christ, there would be no hope of redemption for our sins. We honor You for redeeming us in Him and guiding us to follow His will and produce fruit of gratitude for You. Father, we mourn our sins. Too often, we wish to obey but still find ourselves falling short. Thank You for freeing us from the penalty of our failures through Jesus.  Thought Questions: -       Paul uses marriage as an example of the life-long intent of law. Does this principle of honoring marriage for life still hold today? -       Does redemption from the burden of the law mean we now have no law? Why must we still “bear fruit for God” in Christ's church?  -       Do you know the misery of choosing sin in the flesh when your spirit only wants to do right? They charge Paul with causing dissension, leading a sect, and attempting to desecrate the temple. In his defense, Paul asserts that he worships the God of his ancestors, believes in the resurrection, and strives to maintain a clear conscience before God and all people. Felix postpones his decision, keeping Paul in custody while allowing him certain freedoms. Felix frequently calls for Paul, intrigued by his teachings on faith in Christ, righteousness, and judgment. However, Felix seeks a bribe from Paul, which he refuses to pay. Unfortunately, Felix does not respond to the gospel and, after being replaced by Festus two years later, leaves Paul imprisoned.  Accusers are adamant that Paul is a divisive man who deserves punishment. Considering this, Paul presents a compelling defense. He shows respect to the Governor and calmly recounts his recent actions in Jerusalem, asserting that the accusations are baseless. He directs attention to God, in whom he believes and places his hope. He points out that he and his opponents share a love for God and a belief in the resurrection of the dead. Paul emphasizes that he has acted with a clear conscience every step of the way. This sincerity resonated with Felix, who often invited Paul to teach about Jesus. This entire discourse is an example to us of how to testify about Jesus with integrity.  Dear Lord, please protect Your people from the unrighteous in this world. Some openly deny You, while others believe themselves to be righteous. We pray that You stop their ungodly actions and soften their hearts to know Jesus. Whenever we encounter such unbelievers, grant us wisdom and patience to share Your truth with the right attitude and intent. May it never be about ourselves but always about honoring You and opening the hearts of others to Christ. Create opportunities today to discuss righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come. Challenge us to live by these fundamental truths in our lives.  Thought Questions: -       Paul was labeled “a real pest.” While not the description Christians seek, are you willing to be labeled if it means standing up for God?  -       Is there an appropriate way to defend yourself against accusations? How do you do so while also honoring God in the process? -       Felix heard the truth but kept procrastinating. What is the danger of putting off important spiritual truths for a later time?
