Nick revisits the memorable episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Tony and Oscar-winning singer and actress Ariana DeBose. This standout show featured great material, stellar musical performances, and one of the best, weirdest, and funniest "12:50 Sketches" of all time: Kitchen Staff, also known as At The End of the Day…Lurr. In this hilariously bizarre sketch, the kitchen staff at a Texarkana Longhorn Steakhouse clash with their eccentric boss, played by the always hilarious Heidi Gardner. The episode also included a fantastic Cold Open where President Biden hilariously blames COVID on Spider-Man, a fabulous opening monologue by DeBose, and a delightful parody of The Sound of Music. This celebration of an excellent SNL episode and the unforgettable "Lurr" sketch is a must-listen! [Ep102]

I thought this was a nice pairing for Nathan because they both raised the budgets for their films on their own and shot in their towns where they live, one in Florida and one in Arizona. After that we play another round of The Game, enjoy! A big note for all listeners! Apple podcasts has frozen all of your downloads of the show which is killing our numbers! The way to fix that is to click the icon for the show on your phone and in the top right corner there is a down arrow icon that needs to be turned on, click on that and select 'Turn on Automatic Downloads'. A Heavy Metal Podcast - The Mighty Decibel

We continue our 'The Year In Metal" series moving into the 90s ... not a great decade for the fortunes of heavy metal. This 1990 playlist represents thrash metal's decline, loosening the grip it had on the metal landscape over the previous 5 years or so. Here you'll find a diverse selection of loud sub-genres represented: from thrash to death to trad metal to hard rock ... and even melodic punk. It may be grunge outside, but it's all metal inside!!! HERE IS WHAT WE GARNERED FROM THESE CALLS. SEE IF YOU CAN HEAR OR NOTICE ANYTHING DIFFERENT. ANALYSIS OF BENOIT TELEPHONE CALLS:   1.  THE FULL CALL WITH AMBIENT BACKGROUND NOISES. CHRIS IS SPEAKING TO MICHAEL J. PARKER (BELIEVED TO BE HIS ATTORNEY) BENOIT IS BELIEVED TO BE AT AN AIRPORT OR  TRANSPORTATION CENTER HEADING BACK TO HIS HOME IN ATLANTA. 2. CHRIS BENOIT SOUNDS TIRED - DRUGGED (WE BELIEVE DRUGGED/SLURRING HIS WORDS BADLY. YOU CAN HEAR SOMEONE OFF TO THE SIDE AND NOISE IN BACKGROUND LIKE DRAGGING SOMETHING. 3. YOU CAN HEAR CHRIS' SON DANIEL BENOIT IN THE BACKGROUND MOANING IN PAIN AND CRYING OUT OR SAYING "MOMMY OR MAMA" SEVERAL TIMES. CHRIS APPEARS TO SOUND DISTRESSED AND NOT ALONE. CLEARLY PEOPLE ARE PRESENT THERE WITH HIM. 4. AN EMTIONAL BENOIT IS HEARD PLEADING OR BEGGING WITH SOMEONE. THE AUDIO IS NOT TERRIBLY CLEAR AT POINTS BUT HE IS UNDER OBVIOUS DURESS. APPEARS THAT DANIEL BENOIT IS BEING USED AS A NEGOTIATING TOOL TO GET CHRIS' ATTENTION. 5. CLIP NUMBER 5 IS THE ORIGINAL PHONE CALL IN ITS UNEDITED FORM. WE ARE REPLAYING FOR ADDITIOPNAL ANALYSIS. 6. AMBIENT BACKGROUN NOISES AND THE SOUNDS OF DRAGGING ON THE FLOOR OF SOMETHING. ALSO APPEARS AGAIN THAT CHRIS OR SOMEONE IS TALKING HAVING A CONVERSATION OF SORTS. NOT TOTALLY CERTAIN DUE TO AUDIO NOT BEING PRISTINELY CLEAR. ADDITION NOTE OF INTEREST TO THE LISTENER: ADDITIONALLY, AT THE END, IF YOIU LISTEN TO THE LAST VOICE MAIL CHRIS SENT TO MICHAEL J. PARKER, YOU CAN HEAR PEOPLE IN THE BACKGROUND WHILE CHRIS IS TALKING. YOU WILL HEAR THE WORDS, "I WILL STRANGLE YOU." YOU CAN ALSO HEAR DANIEL IN THE BACKGROUND MOANING IN PAIN. WE ASSUME AT THIS POINT NANCY BENOIT HAS ALREADY BEEN KILLED. (REASON: WHAT MOTHER IN HER RIGHT MIND IS GOING TO ALLOW ANYONE TO DO HARM TO, OR IN ANY WAY ABUSE HER CHILD. MOTHERS BECOME ANIMALS WHEN IT COMES TO THE SAFTEY OF THEIR CHILDREN. ASK ANY MOM.)

In nearly six decades of work, she has mentored hundreds of authors, poets and women globally. Her poetry has appeared in African American Review, Essence Magazine, Ms. Magazine... and dozens of literary journals and lifestyle magazines. In 2003, she was the recipient of the North Carolina Award for Literature (the highest award the state can bestow for significant contributions in science, literature, fine arts, and public service). She was selected for the Forbes distinguished 2022 list, 50 Over 50, in the Lifestyle category. She is an activist and a humanist, expertly versed in the power of words to lift the spirit, and she excels at the magic of  her being. She is passionate about "helping women, children, immigrants and newly literate citizens."She is the first African American and third woman to be appointed as the North Carolina Poet Laureate. When he appointed her in 2018, Governor Cooper stated that “(She) brings a deep appreciation of our state's diverse communities to her role as an ambassador of North Carolina literature.” Her mission is to "promote and expand appreciation of the literary arts" and "help ensure a high quality of life for all North Carolinians." And that's why Here's to Life is proud to welcome, Jaki Shelton Green, poet laureate of the people. "Poetry is about so much more - it is about the work we do here on the planet. It is about crafting quality work and saving lives, elevating lives. It's about the spirit. The serious writer who wants to work with an editor, the serious artist who wishes to workshop her work. My measurement of success is creating someone who is serious about the writing process. This is editing. This is refinement and curation of the spirit.” - Jaki Shelton Green "we are the messengers/new messengers/arriving as mutations of ourselves/we are these messengers/blue breath/red hands/singing a tree into dance"From her poem "who will be the messengers of this land."CREDITS:Guest:  Jacqueline Shelton Green Host and Producer:  Tori ReidExecutive Producer:  Patrick A. Over the years Lang's professional work included teaching in the Japanese school system, managing an English as a Second Language program for immigrants, and providing mental health services at a major university. “All that getting around, including all the difficulties that came with it, helped me understand myself and others better, which has made me a better songwriter than I was in my twenties,” Lang comments. “Mostly, it's opened my eyes to the resilience people demonstrate in getting through their lives. I want my compassion and respect for that to come through in my songs.” Lang returned to music-making in 2017, releasing his debut album Welcome To Yesterday, which South Carolina Music Writer Kevin Oliver hailed as “evocative storytelling at its finest.”   The Post & Courier Free times included Welcome to Yesterday on its “But What About THIS Album” list in their Best South Carolina Music 2019 edition. “Songs about something that seems like nothing but feels like everything” is how Lang describes She's My Memory, set for release in June 2022. Exemplifying Lang's comment “There's always a story,” the album's title track tells of a man with Alzheimer's who glimpses his life through anecdotes of humble but defining marital moments told by his wife. This ten song collection will strike a chord with listeners who endeavor to live with love and purpose in a swirling world of relentless change.   Hello London is the solo project of musician James Froese. Hailing from Buffalo, NY, his sound is influenced by many indie, alternative and punk bands from The Smiths to Mayday Parade. In 2021 he released two EP's, At The End of The World and Stay That Way, and in 2022 Hello London will be releasing their debut LP.

This week, I'm publishing my first solo episode that is not about a  book that I wrote. For long-term listeners, you may remember my previous solo episode was about my recent book, Knowing Where To Look. I've recently rebranded the podcast, and it's no longer At The End of the Tunnel. It's now called The Light Watkins Show. This episode will take you back to how the podcast started  in 2020, what was going on in the background, and what the original intention of the show was, and how it's evolved over the last couple of years. I'll also talk about where I would like for the show go in the foreseeable future. So this is a part autobiographical, it's part masterclass, and it's part manifesto. And I plan to do many more solo episodes in the future.

Disclaimer: This episode contains adult language and sexually explicit conversation. It is not suitable for children and, if you are especially sensitive to topics related to heterosexual dating dynamics, we recommend that you skip this episode as well. While today's guest takes an approach that is unconventional and perhaps even shocking, his story follows a similar formula to many of the guests that you are used to hearing from on At The End of the Tunnel. His name is Alan Roger Currie and, in this episode, you'll learn about the leaps of faith he had to take in order to pursue his true calling. Alan is a dating coach and the author of several books about his unique philosophy known as Mode One, which centers around radical honesty from the start. Straightforward communication is at the core of today's conversation with Alan, who shares his sometimes explicit views on casual sex and relationships and tells the story behind how he developed his Mode One approach before, ultimately, making it his career. Tuning in, you'll learn how an adult film titled Talk Dirty to Me changed Alan's perspective on the dynamics between men and women, how his brother encouraged him to write a book and follow his calling, and how you can implement the Mode One approach in all aspects of your life, from your sexual relationships to the workplace and even your friendships. We also dive into the definition of Mode One, the five archetypes, and what women can take away from Alan's philosophy on dating, as well as the value of embracing rejection and so much more! Tune in today for an occasionally X-rated but altogether fascinating discussion with professional dating coach, Alan Roger Currie!

Given that this is the tale of a celebrity moving from darkness to light, even in the sense of feeling suicidal at one point, to then reasserting life, it is an interview I include in my Ebook, At The End of A Storm Is A Golden Sky. It is available from Amazon and from my website joejacksoninterviewer.com   The Daily Mail picked this programme as a Radio Highlight of the Week August 2018.   ‘Joe Jackson interview Joan in 2004 ahead of her first Irish gig. He told her that the Irish were bound to love her sense of humor, given that the put-downs come as easy to us as raising a pint. She then went on to tell Jackson her life story, which involved in a near suicide attempt, a tail she told the punchline rooted in the kind of black humor we Irish also love. She also discussed the influence of Lenny Bruce, her early career in Greenwich Village getting alongside the likes of Dylan and Richard Pryor, how her family rejected her choice of career the suicide of our husband Edgar and ageism in the media.' Please note that the sound of the original cassette tapes improves eight or so minutes into the interview.
