How does tickling work? You can't tickle yourself. But if you are the ticklish type, you'll start laughing if you know someone is about to tickle you even though they haven't touched you yet. This episode begins with the weird ways tickling works. http://www.livescience.com/3882-tickle.html You know what is interesting about our 7-day week? It is totally artificial. In other words, the other ways we measure time - such as days, hours, months and years – those are based on the sun, the moon, the rotation of the earth and other things – but the week is just made up. Still, it seems to work very well. Imagine life without the week. Keeping a schedule would be extremely difficult. Here to discuss where the 7-day week came from and why it is so important is David Henkin, a professor of history at the University of California at Berkley and author of book The Week: A History of the Unnatural Rhythms That Made Us Who We Are (https://amzn.to/3InCDwl) There are a lot of cat lovers in the world. So, how did cats become household pets in the first place? They haven't always been. In fact, having an indoor cat didn't become a normal thing until the 1930s. There is an interesting story here and here to tell it is Jonathan B. Losos an evolutionary biologist at Washington University and author of the book The Cat's Meow: How Cats Evolved from The Savanna to Your Sofa (https://amzn.to/41PpAe1). If you have valuables in your home, where do you put them, so a burglar won't find them? Maybe in the freezer? In the closet? Well, you could but there's a place burglars almost never look. Listen and I will tell you where that is. https://www.rd.com/list/where-do-burglars-look/ PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS!!! As we celebrate our first Sunday in our new building, we give thanks to God for bringing us here. While the space is exciting, the real church is the people, and we're all about a relationship with Jesus — not just rules or rituals. Jesus calls us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to show that love by how we treat others. Real love for God is loyal, lived out daily, and transforms every part of our lives. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. Austin Ave in Hutto, TX. Anytime you move, you have to decide what to make room for. Not just last-minute stuff—but the first things. As we step into this new season, let's make room—for Jesus, for each other, for worship, for serving, and for sharing the gospel. It's been almost two years in the making—and God has been faithful every step of the way. As we get ready to step into a new space, we're taking time to remember all He's done and look ahead to what He's calling us to next. What are you bringing with you? Travel with kids doesn't have to be a headache or budget-buster. Emily Krause, founder of A Mom Explores blog, shares her hard-won wisdom from years of adventuring with her four children across America and around the world.Emily reveals her top family-friendly destinations, both domestic and international. The Black Hills region offers abundant wildlife and outdoor spaces perfect for kids, while Washington DC provides free museums and monuments that make it surprisingly affordable for larger families. For those ready to venture abroad, Emily explains why Costa Rica and Italy consistently deliver memorable experiences for all ages, from sloth tours to gondola rides. The conversation tackles the real challenges of family travel head-on. Emily candidly discusses her transition from spontaneous solo adventures to the structured planning required with children. She offers practical budgeting strategies, from using flight comparison tools to packing food that significantly reduces dining expenses. Her approach to packing light – one packing cube per child – demonstrates how organization and minimalism can make family trips far less stressful. What sets this discussion apart is Emily's balanced perspective on creating trips that work for everyone. Rather than exclusively catering to children's interests or forcing adult activities, she describes their family "team" approach where everyone gets experiences they enjoy. By involving kids in planning and teaching them to celebrate others' interests, travel becomes a powerful tool for building character and consideration.Ready to plan your next family adventure? Listen now and discover how travel with children can be not just manageable, but one of life's most rewarding experiences. Check out Emily's blog at amomexplores.com for more inspiration and practical guides.• Black Hills and Badlands in South Dakota offers exceptional outdoor spaces and wildlife viewing perfect for children• Washington DC provides free museums and monuments, making it budget-friendly for larger families• Costa Rica and Italy rank as top international destinations with universal kid appeal and diverse activities• Switch from spontaneous travel to having structured plans when traveling with children• Book accommodations well in advance when traveling with larger families• Use tools like Google Flights with open destinations to find affordable options for fixed dates• Save on food by packing snacks and limiting restaurant meals to once daily• Take advantage of programs like "Every Kid Outdoors" which gives fourth graders free national park passes• Involve children in planning to build excitement and investment in the trip• Balance adult interests (museums, hikes) with kid-friendly activities and treats• Consider multi-generational travel to create memories and have extra helping hands• Pack light using packing cubes – one per child with complete outfits• Remember you can purchase most forgotten items at your destinationThanks for your ongoing support!http://paypal.me/TheROAMiesAlexa and RoryThe ROAMiesPlease subscribe, rate and share our podcast! Some are applauding Trump's recent mineral deal with Ukraine but Alex argues that it is not only exploitative of Ukrainian resources during a tough time, but it also will limit the country from embracing green technology. Alex then talks about the economy, stagnation, contractions, and why Trump will always blame Biden.

Dr. Jeffrey Gold, President of the University of Nebraska system, testified recently before the House Committee on Veteran Affairs Health Subcommittee on plans to replace a 1950 VA hospital with a hospital on the university grounds, with projected savings of half a billion dollars. Since the Trump administration began two months ago, it has been “a day-by-day, week-by-week course adjustment,” featuring ongoing court deliberations, cuts to programs, and the rollout of tariffs, amid great uncertainty. Anxiety has risen due to the unusual speed of change, which has permitted little time to prepare. In the meantime, the decline in the price of corn and soy jeopardizes the economy. The university system and hospitals account for 8.5-9% of the state's GDP, the highest level per capita in the country. They also depend on $700 million of extramurally funded research. For the past nine years, Dr. Gold has led the highly successful weekly cable broadcast, ‘Rural Health Matters' on Monday nights on RFD TV. Its mandate is to create awareness among farmers and ranchers, reaching over 15 million households, of the most impactful health matters.

One of the unsuspected consequences of a global pandemic is a re-evaluation not only of how we work but what work means to us. For some the flexibility was a breath of fresh air, others missed the office and even the commute but with employee happiness more important than ever and people feeling overwhelmed and stressed at work the question of how to achieve a work-life balance has never been more important. One approach is the 4 day week. But how will they keep productivity the same? So how is it going so far? Could the 4 day week be the new normal? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions ! Imagine waking up every day, knowing exactly what you need to do to propel your business forward. It might sound too good to be true, but it's totally achievable and today I'm breaking down the simple steps you can take to make it happen. But before you can get started with planning, you need a reliable and consistent way to sell your offers. I spoke about this in a recent episode, but to put it simply: you need to be able to predict your conversion rate with a high degree of accuracy. For example, if you can confidently say that putting 100 people through your sales process yields 10 sales, you're already in a good place. Your next step? Simply find ways to increase that number of prospects. There are lots of ways to do that, but the right approach is usually a mix of paid ads, social media, and borrowed audiences. Once you've identified how you're going to build your audience, it's time to break your plan down into manageable, scheduled tasks. I set aside 40 minutes each morning for daily tasks, about two hours each Friday for weekly tasks, and two days each month for the bigger planning work. Once these tasks are outlined, they're easily manageable and allow you to focus on scaling your business without feeling torn between commitments. If you found this episode helpful, please share with a friend or give us a thumbs-up or review—every bit helps us reach more entrepreneurs like you.
