Sophie turns the pages back to the 1920s to tell Charlie a tragic story about the Butter Box Babies. One couple in Nova Scotia set up a facility for women to give birth safely and give up unwanted pregnancies discreetly, adopting babies out to families across Canada. But all is not what it seems, and a field opposite a cematary nearby hides a horrifying secret.

Charlie takes us back to February 1988, when 22 year old Helen McCourt vanishes without a trace on her way home from work. A local pub landlord immediately draws suspicion, but there is no body to prove she has been murdered. This case is the first in British history (and one of the first in the world), to convict of murder without a body, using DNA evidence.
