In this engaging episode, Tom and Simon reconnect to discuss various riveting cases and police strategies. Kicking off with the announcement that their live event at the Mitchell Library has sold out, they humorously banter about their upcoming appearances and the success of their TikTok video, which garnered nearly 60,000 views. The conversation transitions into serious territory as they delve into the latest work of their Deep Dive team, reviewing landmark cases such as Colin Pitchfork's, the first murder case solved using DNA. Tom elaborates on the significance of DNA in modern investigations and its dual role in convicting criminals and exonerating the innocent. The duo also discusses the London bombings, their impact on police procedures, and the tragic errors like the mistaken shooting of Jean Charles de Mendez. The historical “Siege of Sydney Street” is revisited, highlighting early 20th-century anarchist activities and the birth of media spectacles around crime. Next, they explore the profound ramifications of the Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman murder case by Ian Huntley, emphasizing how it exposed systemic flaws in intelligence sharing. Tom narrates the gripping 'Leith Outrages' case, an 1881 series of crimes committed by Australian outlaws in Edinburgh, underscoring the tenacity of the Leith Borough Police. Concluding with the 1968 Democratic National Convention riots in Chicago, they reflect on effective crowd control tactics and the consequences of Mayor Richard Daley's confrontational approach. The episode wraps up with lighthearted planning for their next live show at The 3 Craws, encouraging audience engagement on social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter.00:00 Welcome and Banter00:48 Upcoming Events and Live Shows02:06 BBC's Peter Tobin Story03:54 Viral TikTok Success06:22 The Pitchfork Case and DNA Revolution13:13 London Bombings and Anti-Terrorism Efforts21:29 The Siege of Sydney Street27:59 Policing and Intelligence Sharing28:23 Ian Huntley Case Analysis29:45 Lessons Learned and System Improvements31:38 Challenges in Modern Policing34:20 Historical Case: Edinburgh Leith Outrages41:43 Chicago Riots of 196845:19 Crowd Control and Policing Strategies51:42 Upcoming Live Show and Closing Remarks Hosted on Acast. #145//  A transformative discussion with Jessica Chapman on the power of maintaining relational connection as we minister deliverance in Jesus' name.Have you ever experienced deliverance for yourself or been in the room when someone else was receiving this type of ministry? What was that like? Were there parts that were scary? Or maybe aggressive? Did it even "work?"Are you a part of a church that invites deliverance ministers into services as opposed to operating in this ministry "in house?" Or have you ever had to go outside your church family to access the freedom that deliverance brings -- spirit, soul and body? What if it was supposed to be that you could remain firmly planted and receiving, in the house God put you in, while receiving deliverance ministry that got you the freedom you so desperately needed while also maintaining the healthy and necessary familial relationships all around you to help you walk out that newly received freedom? On this episode of The Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm chatting with Jessica Chapman, Director of the Prayer, Prophetic and Deliverance Ministry at REVIVE Church of Tampa, about how we can experience more powerful and lasting deliverance when we receive this type of ministry within the house God has planted us in, with the people He's placed us with. TRUE CRIME - On this episode we talk about one of the most tragic and seemingly preventable crimes to rock the UK in the past 30 years; a short lived but unbelievable mystery of a killer who tried to famously help police and, through media interviews, cemented his own undoing; this time we are talking about Ian Huntley.Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman; two young girls from Soham in East Cambridgeshire, England were abducted and murdered by Huntley and he then brazenly went on to try to help to solve the case. He and his girlfriend willingly gave interviews to the press and were very forthcoming with advice and musings on what may have happened to the girls. In the time the authorities were still searching for their killer, the relentlessly reported search for their bodies, indelibly etched images of sniffer dogs, line of police searching through countryside fields and those two infamous Man Utd football jerseys, on the minds of everyone old enough to know what was going on.Radio presenter Keith Ward joins me on this episode and we catch up on the good times I spent being a guest on his FM104 PhoneShow back in the day :) We also get deep on this one about what its like to try to stand up to someone being publicly suspicious around kids and why on earth the authorities didnt do something about Ian Huntley when the alarm bells were ringing and they had the chance._____________________Live UK and Ireland stage shows October 2021 and January 2022Dublin - London - Manchester - Birmingham - Newcastle - Glasgow- LiverpoolGalway 22nd August I join Tom O Mahony for the 200 episode Live Special of his Buckshot Podcast in 'The Grand Auld Stretch' in Nimmo's Pier, Galway Sunday 22nd Aug 7pmBuy your tickets now before they are gone - click here http://www.taplink.cc/thoseconspiracyguys_____________________This podcast is supported by the generous donations of the wonderful folks over at Patreon. On today's "Why Do Pets Matter?" Podcast we're hearing from a new voice in the animal law community, Jessica Chapman, JD.  Currently, Jessica is pursuing her LLM at Lewis & Clark Law School -- the only University in the country offering an LLM in the field of animal law. (An LLM is a secondary degree for lawyers who have achieved their JD and passed the bar exam, and who are interested in a focused, specialized course of study in a specific topic of law.) Jessica's work revolves around having a different conversation and approach to animal abuse...  1. Healing abusers of their victimization and trauma from their own abuse or learned violence experiences will protect non-human animals and humans from becoming future victims. 2. Exploitation of animals and the legal abuse that occurs in industries that exploit animals -- like traumatized industrial workers -- which can manifest itself as abuse to companion animals and domestic violence. 3 We as advocates should develop relationships with individuals who the courts have convicted of abuse and with individuals who self-identify as abusers to find out which therapy techniques will help them heal from their past trauma. Condemning the individual and excluding them from therapy discussions enable the abuse to perpetuate. Experts in multiple areas should collaborate on therapeutic and rehabilitative approaches.    More About Jessica: Jessica Chapman is an Animal Law LLM Candidate at Lewis & Clark Law School. She is a recipient of the Brooks Institute for Animal Rights Law and Policy Domestic Scholarship.  She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where she double majored with a Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Languages and Literature and Native American Studies.  She graduated with a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from Michigan State University College of Law.  She is part of the ALLC (Animal Law Litigation Clinic) and is dedicating her legal career to the protection and representation of animals.

This week in ICMAP Episode 3, Tom and Ben go back 18 years and visit their homeland of Cambridgeshire in order to explore one of the most prominent cases their childhood (and the Cambridgeshire region itself) has ever seen: Ian Huntley and the Case of Holly & Jessica: The Soham Murders…In the early evening of August 4th 2002, in the small rural Cambridgeshire village of Soham, two 10-year-old girls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, left their family barbecue wearing matching Manchester United shirts. The girls were making their way to buy sweets and pop from a local shop and then return to the family party. Unannounced, the girls walked towards ‘Number Five College Close’ – a house on the grounds of their local school. Sat on the driveway was school caretaker: Ian Huntley. The girls asked Huntley if “Miss Carr”, Ian’s Partner at the time, had got the permanent teaching position at their school – he replied that “unfortunately, she had not”, and then claimed, in the multiple police and journalist interviews that would follow, that the girls told him to say sorry to her on their behalf and then “skipped off happily down the street”. The girls, however, were never seen again...What really happened behind closed doors in Number Five College Close that evening? What drove Huntley to commit such an evil act? Why was Huntley so involved in the media frenzy that would follow? How was Huntley able to evade police and a national manhunt in plain sight for almost two weeks? And how involved was Huntley’s partner, Maxine Carr?Tune in and all will be revealed!***Please kindly give the show a rating and review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you find us in your ears at the moment. Michael Berkeley’s guest is the forensic ecologist Professor Patricia Wiltshire, a solver of puzzles who has carved out a whole new discipline within forensic science. Patricia solves crimes with her microscope by meticulous examination of tiny particles such as pollen and spores left at crime scenes or found on the clothing of criminals or on their victims. She says: ‘Nature will invariably give up her secrets to those of us who know where to look.’ Patricia tells Michael how the course of her life was changed by a phone call from the police asking her to assist on a murder case. She was able to match the pollen left by the shoes of the murderers in their car to the plants where they had dumped the body of their victim, and thus secured their conviction. Since then she has worked on nearly 300 cases including the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham; the Millie Dowler and Sarah Payne cases; and the Ipswich prostitute murders. Patricia chooses music by Chopin that she played when she was learning the piano in her 40s, and music by Hasselmans, which expresses her regret at never having learned to play the harp. We hear Russian ballet music, and a Mozart aria sung by her favourite singer Cecilia Bartoli. Patricia talks movingly about how her grief at the death of her infant daughter allows her to deal with the most distressing aspects of her job. She describes the happiness she finally found with her second husband at the age of 63 and chooses exuberant flamenco music to celebrate their relationship. Ian Huntley - The Soham Murders, Claire's True Crime case takes us to Soham, UK. Sunday 4th August 2002, was a warm, sunny summer’s day. Best friends, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were both at the Wells’ home, in Soham, Cambridge, where Holly’s parents were holding a family barbecue. The pair, who were both avid Manchester United supporters, decided to both wear their red Man Utd shirts. Holly’s mother Nicola, decided to take a photo of the girls in their matching outfits. It would be the last photo of the girls alive and one of the most recognizable photographs to ever hit the UK tabloids. This is the true crime case of Ian Huntley - The Soham Murders. Hosted by Angie and Claire, Murder On Our Minds discusses true crime cases from all over the world, powered by wine, snark and a genuine fascination with murder. ***THIS PODCAST DEALS WITH ADULT THEMES WHICH SOME LISTENERS MAY FIND DISTRESSING.
