Thomas Montgomery is a real man who got caught up with a catfish that he met in an online poker game. Their "relationship" became so intense that it took over his real life, and ended with him shooting his young co-worker with a promising future who was also chatting with the non-existent Katie. From IMDb: Thomas Montgomery, a married father of two young daughters, gets seduced by the world of online gambling and chat rooms where a virtual romance and sexual obsession ultimately leads to the murder of an innocent man. Episode 131: The TallHotBlond MurderIn 2005, 46 year old Thomas Montgomery logged onto a chatroom using the screen name “MarineSniper.” Of the people he messaged with, he quickly grew a fondness for a user named Jessi who used the screen name TalHotBlond. Tom led a double life; one his wife and teenage daughters knew nothing about, that allowed him to pose as a young, spry, handsome 18 year old marine falling in love with a girl he met online. This case is a rollercoaster of lies, deceit, loneliness, and ultimately, irony. In the end, the actions of few resulted in the death of one. Tune in to this episode to learn more! Thomas Montgomery was bored with his life at the age of 45. A loving wife, two children, and a steady job wasn't enough for him. One day Thomas decided to reinvent his younger self and became an 18-year-old marine sniper online. It didn't take long for 'Tommy' to meet a teen-aged tall hot blonde who was interested in his online persona. One thing led to another, and before long, this 'catfishing' expedition ended with deadly consequences. Listen now to discover the lengths this JHJ went to in order to protect Jodie Foster and the consequences it had for then-president Ronald Regan... Geordie then looks at the tale of Tall Hot Blonde... In May 2005, love and obsession collided when 46 year old Thomas Montgomery posed on POGO as a hot young marine and started an online chat relationship with 18 year old woman called Jessi, whose handle was TalHotBlond (could she not spell Tall?)... Listen now to find out what happened to Thomas, how the relationship progressed and the bizarre twist that led to a man's death...So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chat about MAFS Australia, Hot Tommy, Fall Out Boy and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. --------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/crimeandcomedy Youtube: https://youtu.be/r3KuIN6Toz0 Tutti i Podcast: https://link.chtbl.com/CrimeandComedy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crimeandcomedy.podcast/ Telegram: https://t.me/crimeandcomedy Sito: https://www.crimeandcomedy.it Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crimeandcomedy/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrimeComedy Instagram: Clara Campi: https://www.instagram.com/claracampicomedy/ Marco Champier: https://www.instagram.com/mrchreddy/ Caricature - Giorgio Brambilla: https://www.instagram.com/giorgio_brambilla_bookscomedy/ Capitoli: (00:00:00) | Intro (00:00:42) | Sigla (00:00:55) | Ringraziamenti Patreon (00:05:26) | Crime & comedy Live! The Book Report Series: Highlights of some very great books about American history. A list of books everyone should have in their libraries. “They Were White and They Were Salves” is a thoroughly researched challenge to the conventional historiography of colonial and industrial labor, a stunning journey into a hidden epoch, the slave trade in Whites, hundreds of thousands of whom were kidnapped, chained, whipped and worked to death in the American colonies and during the Industrial Revolution. This is a chronicle that has never been fully told, part of a vital heritage that has until now comprised the dustiest shelf in the darkest corner of suppressed history. “Their bodies and souls are used as if hell commenced here and only continued in the world to come.” Thomas Montgomery, in a letter to the Lords of Trade and Plantations, on the suffering of White slaves, August 3, 1688. MICHAEL A. HOFFMAN II was educated at Oswego State Teacher's College and Hobart College. He is a former reporter for New York bureau of the Associated Press and former director of the California-based Institute for Historical Review. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jamaine-farmer-bey/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jamaine-farmer-bey/support

In 2005, 46 year old Thomas Montgomery posed as a young Marine to start an online relationship with a teenage girl that would have deadly consequences. For show notes go to www.theywillkill.com
Thomas Montgomery was a regular Joe. Married, two daughters, working as a machinist in New York. But he was bored with his marriage, with his job, with life overall. So he started playing online, pretending to be an 18 year old Marine Corps sniper. He soon found new love/lust in the form of an 18 year old girl with the screen name "TalHotBlond." The two hit it off, quickly began engaging in adult activities online, and even began planning a life together. But things didn't go as planned. And when it was all said and done, one body was in a grave, another was in jail, and a third lost everything. Here is the story of how wrong catfishing can go.SHOW NOTEShttps://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2163757/Tall-hot-blonde-internet-love-triangle-left-man-shot-dead-jealous-rival.htmlhttps://abcnews.go.com/US/online-love-triangle-deception-end-murder/story?id=14371076https://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/07/nyregion/07triangle.htmlhttps://elancassandra.medium.com/online-fantasy-romance-ends-in-murder-23059cdf72cfhttps://www.thedailybeast.com/webs-killer-love-trianglehttps://www.amazon.com/Talhotblond-Thomas-Montgomery/dp/B0030949FU
The Internet, a place where you can be whoever you want to be, whether it's your true identity or an alter ego you've made up. For some people, this is chatting in online rooms with different screennames pretending to be their favorite character or someone they admire. In 2005 for a man named Thomas Montgomery it was darker than that. Thomas Montgomery was 46 years old when an 18-year-old under the screenname “TallHotBlond” messaged him. Instead of revealing who he truly was, Thomas pretended to be an 18-year-old marine named Tommy and the pair started their online affair. Eventually, their affair would leave someone dead and leave everyone else untangling a web of lies. https://www.amazon.com/Talhotblond-Thomas-Montgomery/dp/B0030949FU As always, thank you to our sponsors: SoloStove: Get an extra $10 off the early Black Friday sale at solostove.com, promo code MORBID. This week, we covered two romantic entanglements that’ll have you reaching for the puke bucket. Burt Pugach was a wealthy, married lawyer when he met 21-year-old Linda Riss on a park bench in New York City. Linda wasn’t particularly attracted to Burt, but he was pushy. They’d been dating a while when Linda discovered that Burt was married. Burt had a million excuses, but Linda didn’t buy any of them. She decided to move on with her life. But Burt made that impossible. Then Kristin tells us a truly revolting catfishing tale. In 2005, Thomas Montgomery was living the life of a married suburban dad. But Tom was unfulfilled. So he got online. He quickly fell into conversation with an 18-year-old high school student who went by the screenname Talhotblond. She sent him pictures of herself. She was gorgeous, and she wanted to see pictures of him. What was a balding, 40-something man to do? Lie his ass off. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: The documentary “Talhotblond” And several unsuccessful google searches In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “Crazy Love” Documentary “It’s Me and Burt Against The World” by Paul Schwartzman, The Washington Post “Meet the Pugachs” by Marianne Macdonald, The Guardian “Linda Riss Pugach, Whose Life Was Ripped From Headlines, Dies at 75” by Margalit Fox, The New York Times

The chance encounter online between a gorgeous young 18-year-old girl named Jessi and a handsome 18-year-old marine called Thomas Montgomery seemed on the surface to be innocent enough but who's completely honest when they're online?

To contribute, please visit: mormonsex.info Natasha Helfer Parker continues her interview with Dr. Daniel Parkinson, a psychiatrist who was raised Mormon and left the church partly due to being gay, and Thomas Montgomery, Mormon father of a gay son and husband to Wendy Montgomery who helped found the Mama Dragons. Both men recently collaborated on some articles they decided to publish on the same day, Utah’s Escalating Suicide Crisis and LDS LGBTQ Despair on Rational Faiths and Rejection and the Family on No More Strangers. They discuss the alarming increase in suicide rates in Utah — a trend that has been apparent since the Church’s involvement in Prop 8, increased focus on anti-gay rhetoric in talks over the pulpit and the “November 5th policy” which specifically calls out homosexual marriage as a sin worthy of excommunication going as far as disallowing children who reside in such marriages to participate in Mormon ordinances. Many from within church activity dismiss this type of “anecdotal evidence” stating that one can not blame the Church or any one reason for something as complicated as suicide. Both interviewer and interviewees challenge this type of thinking and call on leaders and members alike to take note and be alarmed at the harm that is being done to LGBT+ members across the age spectrum. In this ep, Kristin’s goes way back to the 1920’s where she tackles the case of infamous bootlegger turned murderer- George Remus. George was a guy who was both and lawyer and a pharmacist who used both skills to find a loophole in the Volstead Act. He ended up running one of the biggest bootlegging operations in the country. However, George had a weakness for his wife, Imogene, who he gave control over his finances and business operations. This backfired when George got arrested and Imogene decided to take George to the cleaners. As a result, George was mad… more than mad and this lead to a crime of passion. Learn more in this ep!As for Amy, she covers a way more modern crime in this episode as she discusses a bizarre love triangle that began in a chatroom and ended in blood. When 46 year old Thomas Montgomery entered into a chatroom and met an 18 year old girl, he decided to go back in time and pretend to be an 18 year old as well. Things got intense, over a year went by, and Thomas’ wife found all about it and clued in his little e-girl on who he actually was. She then turns to comfort in Thomas’ co-worker, Brian, but goes back and forth with these men through emails and messages, until one day Thomas snaps. This story has all kinds of catfish in the chatrooms! Tune in and find out who is actually who!

At a speech before the unveiling of the Freedman’s Monument in 1876, Fredrick Douglass stated, “You are the children of Abraham Lincoln. We are only at best his step-children; children by adoption, children of circumstances and necessity.” But who was Douglass referring to when he said "You are the children of Abraham Lincoln" and what did he mean? Dr. William Green investigates this statement in a case-study of four whites from Minnesota who fought hard and won rights for black Americans during and after the Civil War. By evaluating the actions of Morton Wilkinson, Thomas Montgomery, Daniel D. Merrill, and Sarah Burger Stearns, Dr. Green shows how black suffrage was earned in Minnesota, leading the so-called children of Lincoln to say, “We have done our part.” The Children of Lincoln: White Paternalism and the Limits of Black Opportunity in Minnesota, 1860–1876(University of Minnesota Press, 2018) is a fascinating, well-researched book about the limits of black opportunity in Minnesota with remarkable parallels to today’s social and political climate.
