Have you ever asked yourself, "How the heck am I still alive and breathing today?" I ask myself that almost every single day, especially after some recent chaotic events that have happened in my personal life lately. In this episode, I do my best to touch upon the "5 Health Buckets of Life" concept I've created and have been focusing on filling them up myself. Minimalizing my day-to-day to these 5 buckets has helped me push through a lot of mental noise and mental challenges that I face due to my own depression and anxiety. I hope that by sharing these with you, you write these buckets down for yourself and begin your journey of gaining confidence in the ability to fill your own buckets. You can do this. You are not alone when it comes to fighting the mental health stigma, depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem. I'm rooting for you. I'm rooting for us. Let's keep pushing forward DT Nation.

Thank you so much for supporting me through all of this time. This has been a journey that has almost made me quit on Depression Talks and my own life so many times. But DT Nation, I am still here, still breathing, and I know I'm not alone in this crazy thing called life. Let's keep fighting and pushing forward one day, one second, one moment at a time! Episode 53 - Healthy Reasons To Still Want To Stay Alive

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 1, 2021 10:41

Many people share reasons to be alive or reasons to stay alive, and the majority of the time I would say... their advice may actually make things worse. In this episode, I share what I believe are 'healthy' reasons to want to stay alive. I believe they are healthy because they are all internal reasons (instead of most advice being external reasons from the individual who is feeling depressed). This mental fight to stay alive is not always easy, but it's still a fight. That means we can't give up. Winning is breathing to me. As long as we're breathing, we're still pushing forward with a purpose. Let's continue to push forward. We got this DT Nation.

I'm exhausted. I just want to sleep right now. I keep on fighting this thing called "life", and it's annoying me. Even so, I keep on fighting. I won't give up. I refuse to. Depression and anxiety are a part of my life. It takes hard work to continue to healthily manage my mental health all the time. I'm tired of thinking about and having negative thought loops that play over and over again in my mind. In this episode, I open up about what I'm currently experiencing mentally and emotionally. I hope that by opening up to you, you see that you are not alone when it comes to fighting depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. DT Nation, let's keep on fighting and staying strong. I really did my best in this episode to try and explain complex thoughts I had to work through during my recent emotional breakdown. These weren't "normal tears" similar to other depressive episodes I've had in the past. This one hurt. There were no signs of sadness on my face. Just a stern and intense stare off into space while tears kept pouring out.    If you have been a listener to this podcast, you know that when I have a mental breakthrough, I share that experience with you here. We are in this fight together when it comes to battling depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I promise you that you are not alone. If you are currently struggling with taking physical action in something, I hope that listening to this episode shifts your perspective into a positive for your health and growth. You got this. Episode 50 - What's wrong with being weird?

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 6, 2021 7:39

My short answer, nothing. There is nothing wrong with being weird, awkward, or different. I didn't always feel this way. I actually struggled the majority of my life feeling like I was not good enough because I was weird. Every time I didn't fit in and was made fun of for being myself, my confidence, self-esteem, and mentality lowered dramatically. It felt impossible to love the person I looked at in the mirror.    Now, I embrace my weirdness! I love how different I am from others. I don't mind being called weird or different because that makes me unique in my own way. I have no desire to be like anyone else. I'd rather be myself. In life, that's all I can be. Me.   If you are someone that feels like an outcast, you are not alone. Embrace what makes you different. Embrace being "weird". You are more than enough already being actual who you are.

If you are someone that wants to increase your amount of daily "happy minutes" and hear a deeper insight into the feeling of happiness, this episode is for you. Keep on taking action towards better understanding your own thoughts and emotions (one of my suggestions is to set a time for 5 minutes and journal at least once a day). If you don't know where to begin, start by writing down your own definition of happiness. I'm rooting for you DT Nation! You are not alone.

No matter how far I go in success, relationships, finances, or even personal development, this question still pops up in my head every single day. It wasn't until recently I learned that I'm completely okay with that. In this episode, I do my best to motivate you, and myself, to keep going. To not give up on ourselves and life. I am feeling depressed right now and a little hopeless, but I have given up on my life before, and I refuse to let that be an option! We must keep pushing forward. I hope you find this episode helpful, especially if you are feeling alone and depressed right now. You are not alone. I'm rooting for you to get through this. You got this.

There is still such a huge stigma behind a man crying or being "too emotional". This leads the majority of men to not knowing how to understand their own emotions or the emotions of the people around them. As an emotional and empathetic man, I find it sad to see other men being called "weak" or "too feminine" for expressing how they feel. I know I may be seen as weak or unorthodox for speaking upon this unpopular opinion, but I stand by it firmly. As a human being, you are allowed to express ALL emotions there are. Simple as that. Words CANNOT EXPRESS how livid this makes me. These words below need to be heard. WE (yes black people) ARE TIRED!   "We are TIRED. We corporate, we die. We run, we die. We fight back, we die. We beg, we die. We lie down, we die. We put our hands up, we die. We mind our business, we die. We’re unarmed, we die. We’re detained, we die. Tell us, what the HELL are we suppose to do to keep the cops from killing us? #icantbreathe #blacklivesmatter #saytheirnames #GeorgeFloyd" - Makail   How do people expect black people to react? Video after video of watching our own people's bodies being dropped, lifeless, and carried away just for being black. I'm 27, and I can barely take it. Think about children in elementary school, middle school, and high school having to live in fear of being killed every day... just for being black. Children LIVE on social media. It's in front of their faces every day right in their phones! You expect parents to be okay with that? Not knowing if their child will come back home safely just for the color of their skin? Year after year of protesting in silence, petitioning, voting, and so much more... and this still happens. How do people expect black people to continue to stay calm and act civilized... WHEN WE AREN'T TREATED AS CIVILIANS OURSELVES!   How the hell are we supposed to not be affected by all this? Are we supposed to act as nothing happened and keep moving forward? No... we've tried that. Should we protest and walk in the streets? Oh... we've tried that too. Let's just talk about it and be civil. Damn... that one has been taken as well. They all ended up with us getting shot.   This is wrong. I feel no remorse for those cops and what they have coming to them. No remorse.   *By the way. For the people that say, "It's not all cops. Not all cops are bad. Not all white people are bad. These are just a few. There are still good cops and good white people out there." OF COURSE! DUH! Clearly, we're not talking about "the good one's". I just don't get it man. For real. Colin Kaepernick takes a knee, doesn't kill anybody... and gets scorned mercilessly for it. This cop takes a knee on a black man's neck, MURDERS HIM, and isn't taken to jail IMMEDIATELY. Just gets fired..... think about that before only focusing on "the good one's". #BlackLivesMatter #GeorgeFloyd #ICantBreathe

If you are thinking about suicide, then this episode is for you. I read a message (story) that was sent to me about someone who committed suicide. I talk about my own attempt, and why I believe suicide is not the answer. Suicide is something that needs to be talked about. It's a subject that many people are afraid to talk about. But by continuing to have the conversation, the stigma behind talking about it will change. Please know I want you to stay. I don't want you to take your life. PLEASE call 1-800-273-8255 if you are suicidal. That is the suicide hotline. I love you. Thank you for being here. Continue to stay strong. I'm rooting for you
