This past Sunday, Ellen Chapman continued our journey through the Big Story of the Bible by taking us into the transformational life of Abraham—a man whose faith, obedience, and story still speak deeply into our own. Spanning Genesis 11–25, we were reminded that God's Big Story is also our story. It's not just a tale from ancient history—it's a living, breathing invitation into partnership with God. The Call of Abraham: When God Says “Go” In Genesis 12, we see the beginning of Abraham's faith journey: “The Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you.'” (Gen. 12:1) Abraham obeyed—even though he didn't know where he was going. He heard, he trusted, and he went. Ellen challenged us with these powerful questions: Are you responsive to the voice of God? When He says “Go,” are you willing to move? Are you where you need to be, or is God calling you to something new? Faith means movement. Faith is action. Like Abraham, we are called to be witnesses, living lives that reflect the God who sends us. The Discipline of Obedience: Doing the Right Thing Abraham wasn't perfect. He and Sarah made mistakes. But what marked his life was this: He had a heart that was after God. That kind of obedience doesn't come from emotion or impulse—it's built on discipline and foundation. Doing the small, right things builds a life ready to do the big, God things. “You have to have the foundations in your life to respond to the call of God.” So ask yourself: What small steps of obedience do I need to take? Am I laying down the right foundations to hear and respond to God? The Test of Sacrifice: What Are You Willing to Lay Down? One of the most powerful moments in Abraham's journey was when God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac. This wasn't just about obedience—it was about trusting God with the most precious thing in his life. Abraham's willingness to lay down his son was an act of radical trust in a God he believed would never fail him. What is God asking you to sacrifice today? What are you holding onto that might be holding you back? True worship often involves laying something down. Sacrifice clears the way for greater purpose. God Is Calling You—Are You Ready to Go? Abraham's story reminds us that God doesn't just call heroes—He calls ordinary people who are willing to go. And He's still calling today. Will you answer the call? Will you step out in obedience? Will you go, even if you don't know where the path leads? You Have a Story Too Your life has meaning. Your experiences have weight. Your story, like Abraham's, is part of the Big Story of what God is doing in this world. Ellen reminded us that: “You have life experiences that will change the circumstances and experiences of other people.” So today, ask yourself: Where and how am I serving God? What do I need to lay down? Am I prepared to go? Final Encouragement Abraham's life teaches us that faith is a journey, obedience is a choice, and God's story is one of invitation, transformation, and mission. God has an amazing plan for this community—and you're a part of it. Step into the story. Be willing to go. Be willing to give. Be willing to grow.

We were designed to lay our lives down for others. Jesus modeled this in the laying down of His life—which was the plan from the beginning. In this message, Kris Vallotton unpacks a key factor to living in the fullness we were designed for. With happiness and enjoyment as products of doing what we were created to do, listen and discover how God's design for fulfillment in your life bears the fruit of true happiness, and how pursuing temporary pleasures perpetuates emptiness.

John 1:35-36 Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" We come to the second time John the Baptist recognized Jesus as the Lamb of God. In vs. 29, the apostle gave this report about John the Baptist. “The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!'” Jesus is like a lamb. The first time a lamb is mentioned in the Bible is in Gen. 22:7-8. Abraham was taking Isaac to be sacrificed when Isaac asked, “Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?' Abraham said, ‘God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.'” We know the rest of the story. God provided a ram caught in the thicket as a substitute for his son to provide a type of Christ. Lambs were also offered as sacrifices in the tabernacle or temple. We and John's first readers were familiar with the Passover lamb commemorating the passing of the death angel over the people of Israel in Egypt so that the firstborn among them would not die. The prophet Isaiah wrote in 53:7 that Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah of God, was like a lamb to be slaughtered. “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth.” So John testified twice that Jesus was the lamb of God, understanding He was sent to be a sacrifice for sins. Yet, when John was imprisoned, he sent two of his followers to ask Jesus if He was the expected one (Luke 7:19-20). It seems strange to me that he would ask such a question when he had prophesied that Jesus was the Lamb of God. It makes me think that both times when John referred to Jesus as the Lamb of God were Holy Spirit-inspired moments—more for us than for The Baptist. Let's remember, the apostle John knew the whole story of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, which John the Baptist never saw. Furthermore, more than likely, the apostle John was one of the two disciples standing with the Baptizer when these statements were made. So when John wrote this account, the Holy Spirit reminded him of these two declarations. They are the central point of this gospel, for John wrote in 20:30-31, Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. Today's verses contain Holy Spirit selected truth about Jesus upon which we can base our lives. He is God's lamb given for us that we might have eternal life and not the death we deserve. This is central to understanding the love of God for us—the sustained direction of the will toward our highest good, at the cost of the life of His Son, in the power of the Spirit, for the glory of God. From the beginning of Jesus' ministry, the Holy Spirit declared Jesus to be our savior through His testimony from heaven and then through John the Baptist. This is why we live to love with Jesus. God gave us His Son because He loves us. Jesus laid down His life in this world to live to love with His father, and we lay down our lives in this world to live to love with Jesus. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? In the book of Galatians, Paul corrects some erroneous teachings and practices among the believers there. These Christians had been deceived and had come to believe they had to keep and obey the Law of Moses to be saved and in right relationship with Christ.Main Points:1. Christ was the fulfillment of the law when he died for us on the cross. Our salvation is not based on law-keeping, it's based on faith in the Son of God who died for us.2. It's here that we recognize that we are not saved by doing good things. We do good things because we are saved. We live in obedience because God calls us to obedience. We serve and do good works because God asks us to do so. We are motivated by the great love of God and the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf.3. Hear the call of our savior to lay down your flesh, your carnal desires, and your worldly passions. Let them be crucified with Christ. Embrace the life that comes through faith in the resurrected Savior.Today's Scripture Verses:Galatians 2:20 - “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”2 Corinthians 5:15  - “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”Galatians 5:24 - “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

Come and listen while Host Gia-Raquel Rose speaks to all things Yoga, meditation and wellness with special interviews of extraordinary individuals, who are working to make the world a better place! #DivasThatCare Gia-Raquel Rose, owner of Airs Above Yoga, LLC and a real estate sales associate in Tewksbury, New Jersey has had a love for horses stemming from early childhood. Growing up in “horse country” afforded her the privilege of beginning to ride from the tender age of four. It was a childhood illness, which brought her riding aspirations to an abrupt halt. It took twenty years before she was able to reunite with her long lost passion for horses and their ability to heal. In that time, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communication from Arcadia University and became a twice two hundred hour certified yoga instructor in both Hatha and Vinyasa. It was the loss of her mother, Rose, to breast cancer, which ultimately shifted her trajectory from the corporate world to the internal work for which yoga, as a practice, is renowned.
