What could you live without?Today, we are diving back into the topic of minimalism. Minimalizing the amount of things we have has played a huge role in creating room for things that matter more to us. It has created more freedom to travel and spend quality time with family. That storage unit or room in your house is likely a burden to you. There is a balance between keeping sentimental items and flat-out keeping everything. In this episode, we will share about how we decide what to keep and what to get rid of and answer some of our community's most asked questions about our lifestyle. The bottom line is this - You have the control over your things. We can either let our things dictate our lives, or we can take hold of the reins and get rid of what is burdening us. It is so freeing to let go of things that have been piling up and causing more stress in the grand scheme of things. We invite you on this journey with us to discover how embracing simplicity, decluttering your life, and focusing on what truly matters can lead to enhanced mental clarity, reduced stress, increased freedom & flexibility, and a more intentional and fulfilling lifestyle.Episode Highlights: Less is more.Family keeping everything.Stuff adds to your stress.Do you keep awards & keepsakes?Freedom and flexibility of not having a lot of stuff.Navigating gifts from family & friends.Valuing experiences over things.Links Mentioned in Episode/Find More on Ryan and Shannon:Follow Shannon on InstagramFollow Ryan on InstagramVisit Shannon's WebsiteThis show has been produced by Adkins Media Co.

The Becoming You Show with Leah Roling: Inspire, Impact, & Influence Your Life

I am talking about JOMO today. The joy of missing out. I am trying to make a case for the importance and relevance of De-Cluttering and Minimalizing. Josuah Becker said Maybe the life you have always wanted is buried under what you own If that is true than I want to share with you some ideas to unbury it. For decades I was a Maximalist. The constant distraction of the next new thing buffered me from a career I didn t love, from a life I didn t love. It buffered me from a harbouring resentment that I deserve to buy whatever I want and however much I wanted. It buffered me from a deep rooted doubt as to whether or not I should quit the job I hate and stay home with the kids I love but it was quickly answered with Leah, "that is not even in the realm of possibility". I went through my days running, running my tennis shoes and my credit card. All this running to buffer this unsettled feeling that I should be doing something different in my life, something more. When I was to exhausted to run anymore the stillness whispered, "Leah if you want your life to change, you have to change. This change cured the buffering to feel better because I was better. This intentional living by my own creation not by compulsive consumerism. Regardless of whether or not you identify as a minimalist or a Maximalist I believe there will be some ideas some concepts and some challenges in this episode that I hope inspire you to live lighter and make space in your home, heart and head for living your best life.

I'm pretty sure up until a recent move, I still had the hand-dyed vintage slips that Nancy dyed, which I wore as dresses - because it was early 00's and we were so grunge. How many vintage stores do you know of that have been open that long? I'm convinced it's due to her genuine passion for what she does and why she does it - and that everyone recognizes that. Join us in her store while Nancy hand-sews a piece for her new installation at the Morris Graves Museum of Art in Humboldt, CA.Highlights:+ Being proud and humble+ Retaining your own power+ Self-reliance as a response to trauma+ Military kid+ Being ousted socially+ The mind of a super creative+ Art as self-therapy+ The source of life and destruction+ A love letter to others+ Be resourceful+ Creating with waste+ Build it, they will come+ Give them the opportunity to say yes+ Dad was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam+ Give yourself permission to say yes+ Learning self confidence+ Letting kids be of themselves+ Adaptability+ Peace out of a pandemic+ HSU art degree+ “How to run a consignment shop”+ You've got to build it+ Isolation and missing people+ We need other people, the right people+ Find something and polish it up+ Changing others' minds about value+ The hobby became the everything+ Competition brings demand+ Single parenting+ Tough times come in sets, like waves in surfing+ Don't try to bend things to your will+ Work WITH the obstacles+ Let go and let God+ College of the Redwoods is THE best school+ Being self-sufficient+ An artist and also an accountant+ Minimalizing a vintage collection+ Coming out of the womb independent+ Introverts need people too+ Extroverts are over-celebrated+ Inspiring others visually+ Get weird!+ Bringing others joy and laughter+ Fearing people disliking us+ The slut from Arizona+ Keyed cars in high school+ Working for yourself+ The covid sabbatical+ Do it all the same, but in Hawaii+ Presenting the groom with an umbilical cord+ Meow Wolf in Las Vegas+ Counting on friends to keep us in check+ Life is messy, and beautiful+ Show the process+ Wabi Sabi+ Getting back to being childlike+ Letting go of inhibitions+ Seasons of life experiencesA taste:“It seems like things come in cycles and in waves, and so when something bad happens it's always like there's going to be a set of them coming through. So I try to think of it like surfing - so it's like get on your board and just get out past the break and just let the waves roll under you and try to float on top of it and just let them pass.”Favorite saying:“Making Lemonade.”“Don't wait for the stars to align before you begin.”Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/sagewlf)

Have you ever asked yourself, "How the heck am I still alive and breathing today?" I ask myself that almost every single day, especially after some recent chaotic events that have happened in my personal life lately. In this episode, I do my best to touch upon the "5 Health Buckets of Life" concept I've created and have been focusing on filling them up myself. Minimalizing my day-to-day to these 5 buckets has helped me push through a lot of mental noise and mental challenges that I face due to my own depression and anxiety. I hope that by sharing these with you, you write these buckets down for yourself and begin your journey of gaining confidence in the ability to fill your own buckets. You can do this. You are not alone when it comes to fighting the mental health stigma, depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem. I'm rooting for you. I'm rooting for us. Let's keep pushing forward DT Nation.

The use it or lose it 30-day decluttering challenge combines awareness with desire and common sense. If you don't use it do you still want it? If you want it can you use it? If you don't want it and don't use it can you lose it? WHAT? That is way too easy. That is like decluttering and minimalism and recycling and regifting and donations all on steroids. And what do you end up with? Only things you want and will use. BAM! Use it or lose it. And if you don't want it, give it away, donate it, toss it, recycle it, reuse it, declutter it, re-gift it, just don't keep it. Yeah, you heard me.

This 30-day bedding challenge will help you declutter rooms, shelves, closets, and sofas. Have you redecorated a bedroom and bought all new sheets and comforters but kept the old ones just in case? Me too. And if you're like me you rationalized that you would reuse or recycle the old bedding but never have. The 30-day bedding challenge doesn't mean getting rid of blankets and pillows you are using, just the extra throws you know you're done with.
