We're officially two weeks away from our big trip, and the pressure is on! Today, I'm wrapping up the work on the trailer's shower and toilet area—it's about 95% finished now, and I'm really stoked with how the epoxy and shelving turned out. Between the build, I'm also staying on top of my post-surgery knee recovery with some mobility exercises to make sure I'm ready for the road.I also had a great catch-up with my mom on the phone—it's been a busy season, but those conversations mean a lot. It's a mix of hard work, self-care, and family time as we count down the final days of this build. In this video:Finishing the trailer shower and toilet setup.Update on my knee recovery and daily mobility routine.A long-overdue phone call with my mom.Finalizing storage and painting plans for the trip. Thanks for being part of this 365-day journey with us! In today's vlog, we take a break from the usual tiny home build to focus on what matters most: family. We're in a beautiful part of Canada staying with Alex's aunt, who is navigating life with dementia. We're sharing the highs and lows of the trip—from the smoke-filled skies keeping us inside to the simple joy of Everly learning to count (mostly!). Welcome to Day 121 of our 365-day homestead journey!

It's Day 120 of our 365-day journey! Today is all about preparation as we get ready for some very special guests to arrive. We're hosting "Mathers on the Map" (Kevin, Taye, and their family) for dinner, and I'm taking you along as I make my go-to pizza dough from scratch. In this video, I walk through my process for a New York-style crust using a 24-hour fermented polish. Whether you're a seasoned baker or just starting out, I'm sharing the tips I've learned for getting that perfect, crispy stretch. We're also dealing with some pretty heavy smoke and poor air quality today from the northern Ontario fires. Thankfully, we're able to hunker down and get the homestead ready before I head across the bay to pick everyone up.In this video:My 24-hour fermented pizza dough recipe and technique. The reality of wildfire smoke on the homestead.Prepping for our first big guest dinner of the season.A little chaotic cleaning and family life! Thanks for following along with Frankie N Alex. It's Day 119 of our homestead journey and we just received some news that changes everything.

Day 117 of 365: Getting things done on our own terms. We're officially closing in on being a third of the way through this 365-day vlog series! It's wild how fast the time is flying, but looking back at the daily progression makes every bit of the effort feel worth it.In today's vlog, we're making some much-needed upgrades to our mobile setup. I'm tackling some evening sanding to finish up the new individual access panels for our fridge/freezer—a great idea from Alex that's going to make our daily workflow so much smoother.Being out here has really made me reflect on the freedom of this lifestyle. I spent years building vans in HOA parking lots and cramped city streets where you're always on someone else's clock. Now, if I want to sand wood at 8:00 PM, the only person I have to answer to is Alex (and maybe Paco if he starts barking!).In this episode:Solar & Power Updates: How the panels are holding up and how we're managing power between Betty and the Hideout.Rig Progress: Poured the shower pan and finished sanding the kitchen blocking. The "Witching Hour": Navigating toddler life, teaching Everly about boundaries, and the importance of listening.A Surprise Guest: Spotting a paraglider catching the evening thermals right above us.Thank you for showing up with us every day. Whether we're biking or sanding, your support keeps us sticking to this commitment.See you tomorrow!#NomadicLife #VanBuild #365DayVlog #OffGridLiving #DIYTravel #FrankieNAlex Start on Day 1 if you are new here: https://youtu.be/_ydNTMUxuOA We're Frankie and Alex. Things are moving fast on Day 113! I'm deep into the trailer build, working on a custom epoxy shower pan and finally getting our new power system installed. It's not just about the build, though—it's also 9 weeks since my ACL surgery. I'm pushing through a late-night bike session to make sure my rehab stays on track for physical therapy tomorrow. From electrical troubleshooting to sunset bike rides, we're making every minute count. Day 112 is all about accountability and making things right. Today, I'm tackling a major mistake in Betty's power system. While the current setup has served us well, I realized it was under-designed for the specific demands of our air conditioning unit—something I should have caught during the initial planning phase. In this video, I'm cleaning up the "rat's nest" of wiring and installing a new control panel and smart pad. This upgrade not only streamlines our power management but also gives us Bluetooth control over the entire system. I'll walk you through the process of drilling pilot holes, checking wiring sizes, and interpreting the manual to ensure everything is grounded and fused correctly. It's a hot day to be buried in the garage, but getting this system properly organized and efficient is a huge step toward making van life more sustainable for our family. In this video:Identifying why the original power system design was a "mistake"Unboxing and preparing the new control panelManaging complex 12V vs. 120V wiring and ground connectionsCleaning up the electrical "rat's nest" for a safer buildPlanning for future thermal management with heat sinks and fansThanks for following along with the build!
