Sterling Digital eyes AQSE listing as it fuels off-grid Bitcoin mining assets with stranded gas

Sterling Digital Plc CEO Stefan Michaelides joined Stephen Gunnion in Proactive's studio with more on the company's unique approach to off-grid Bitcoin mining and its upcoming listing on the Aquis Growth Market. Sterling Digital is distinguishing itself from traditional miners by utilising stranded natural gas from oil fields, primarily in the United States, to power its operations. According to Michaelides, this model provides a cost advantage and addresses an environmental challenge by capturing methane-rich gas that would otherwise be vented or flared. He explained, “We're not only solving an environmental issue, but creating a valuable asset at the same time.” The company sources the gas at prices under one dollar per MCF, which translates to approximately half a cent per kilowatt-hour—significantly lower than grid-based energy costs. Michaelides also discussed the scalability of Sterling Digital's operations, noting that a series of assets are already lined up, setting a clear path for the next 12 to 18 months. While future international expansion is being considered, the focus remains firmly in the United States for now. Sterling Digital plans to hold its mined Bitcoin as part of a treasury policy, potentially lending to liquidity providers to earn yield. The company's ticker on the Aquis exchange will be ASIC. This week, the EAH team sat down with Aran Bates, Founder and CEO of Hydrologiq, to dive into the strategic deployment of hydrogen in the off-grid sector. We explore how Hydrologiq is moving beyond just the hardware, discussing the critical role of software and systems thinking in scaling up clean fuel adoption. Aran provides fascinating insights into distributed decarbonisation and the future of resilient microgrids. The conversation focuses on the synergy between Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hydrogen, detailing the "hub-and-spoke" model that is revolutionizing how we power remote sites, temporary setups, and events—including a fun look at the hydrogen deployment at Boomtown Fair. Aran explains how their platform, Logiq, is the essential tool for managing multi-technology fleets and simplifying the hydrogen supply chain. It was a truly valuable chat, underscoring that the transition to hydrogen is as much about Logiq's operational efficiency as it is about the fuel itself.About Hydrologiq:Hydrologia makes hydrogen the turnkey, scalable and immediate diesel replacement for off-road machinery - decarbonising a US$327 billion global diesel machinery market that produces 1.3 gigatons of CO2e every year. They do this through Logiq - the platform that handles everything from supply chain integration to on-the-ground operations, making hydrogen an easy to adopt and scale decarbonisation choice.Born out of a passion to reduce the greenhouse gas impact society is having on the planet, they are enabling the hydrogen value chain to change how we store, move and use energy off-grid.About Aran Bates:Aran's experience sits at the intersection of technical development, business, and strategy gained over eight years of technology and innovation consulting, as well as start-up experience. Prior to Hydrologiq he spent two and a half years evaluating and studying the applicability of hydrogen on energy systems, now through the work being done at Hydrologiq, they are testing and proving that hydrogen is an answer.Previously, Aran founded his own digital start-up, bootstrapping it into an operating business within a year; launched new ventures inside of existing multinational businesses (e.g. designed and lead all aspects of the physical product and manufacturing for Holland and Barret's Healthbox offering, taking it from pure paper idea to live product in market MVP in three months); and advised many of the world's largest corporates on innovation, including acting as the direct advisor and coach to the global Head of Innovation at Rolls Royce Aerospace.--

The topic has become political and there is a clinging to tradition, similar to people that didn't want to abandon the horse and buggy for the automobile, but that will pass with time. I have been saying for years: Why not see the utility and different use cases in both electric cars and gas and diesel cars? In this long time coming episode I talk about why I love owning electric vehicles being 100% off grid, the expensive lessons i've learned over the years to do it easily, how electric cars can provide ultimate freedom with solar panels, the only two car brands I found that work easily off grid, the details of my off grid setup, and I share one source of information that breaks apart every common myth you've ever heard about EVs. Meanwhile, Trump's picking new enemies, calling for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to be jailed for “failing to protect ICE officers.” Both fired back, with Johnson saying it's not the first time Trump's tried to have a Black man unjustly arrested. Adding to that authoritarian flavor, new data shows nearly a quarter of FBI agents are now focused primarily on immigration enforcement — a number that hits 40% in some major field offices. Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have finally agreed on the first phase of their ceasefire plan — Israel will pull back troops, hostages will go home, and prisoners will walk free. Qatar and Hamas added that the deal also opens the gates for aid to enter Gaza. At the same time, his administration quietly inked an executive agreement giving Qatar near–NATO-level security guarantees — a move that normally requires Senate approval, but apparently we're skipping that part now. In economic news, gold prices just hit a record high of $4,000 an ounce — the strongest rally since 1979 — while the dollar is down more than 9% this year, signaling a crisis of confidence in U.S. institutions. A 29-year-old Florida man was arrested for starting the January wildfires that destroyed over 17,000 homes in Malibu and Palisades, killing 30 people. And to end on a rare uplifting note, 64-year-old immunologist Fred Ramsdell won the Nobel Prize in Medicine — learning the news only after returning from an off-the-grid Montana vacation. Truly the anti-Trump. Everyone wants to run away from society and build a queer homestead with their polycule, but what does it actually take to make that happen? We talk to artist and organizer Kamra Hakim about the land they bought in upstate New York, the artist residency/community space they created on it, and why conflict management is actually the most important skill in an off-grid queer community (besides knowing how to fix a generator). We break down EJ “Skull Crusher” Snyder's hard-won rules for building a bug-out vehicle you can trust under stress: four-wheel drive when roads vanish, 20–30 gallons of secure reserve fuel, a layered loadout for recovery and navigation, and power redundancy that laughs at dead batteries. Seeing his system on wheels turns “gear” into a plan you can copy in a weekend. Then we shift to Rick Austin's off-grid playbook. Think permaculture food forests that look wild but feed you for years, livestock matched to land, rain catchment measured in hundreds of gallons, and waste turned into value. Rick's energy strategy is a masterclass in design: passive solar, thermal mass, and a wood stove nested in brick to hold and release heat without burning cords of wood or chasing kilowatts. Start small with solar—one panel, one battery—and scale with skill to avoid expensive mistakes.Survivor Jane closes the loop with clarity and grit. Homesteading isn't a postcard; it's two hours of chores before coffee and a dozen micro-decisions that keep animals fed, food preserved, and systems humming. The trade is worth it: more control, more security, and a community that swaps hard-won hacks. We also talk shifting mindsets as supply chains wobble and prices surge (yes, even silver), and why small steps—fuel cans, paper maps, rain barrels, canning jars—compound into calm when the world gets loud.If this resonated, follow along for more common-sense prepping, share it with a friend who needs a nudge, and leave a quick review so others can find it. This is Season #4 - Episode #1 A BRAND-NEW SEASON! It is Episode #20 total (8 Episodes have been deleted over the past 5 years for many different reasons). "PART #2: LIVING OFF GRID 2025 Update with Adrienne" is an UPDATE since the "PART #1: LIVING OFF GRID" Episode! From Adrienne herself, once again! We did a Podcast interview (Part 1: LIVING OFF GRID) way back in 2022 or 2023 approx. 2 & 1/2 to 3 years ago, when Adrienne was living in New York in the forest, alone. In a small tent, with nobody to keep her company. Still, she enjoyed her daily life outdoors in nature! That's truly an independent woman to say the least! But now that Daniel is back, her life partner is now a huge part of her daily tasks & their NEW adventures have only just begun. I genuinely feel she was born for this lifestyle. It's her M.O. (Mode of Operating/ "Modus Operandi" in Latin) and she truly loves every moment being out in nature - alone - or with Daniel (Her life Partner). Who had not been around during our 1st interview. But now it's 2025, and he is back! Enjoying life with Adrienne as they embark on new adventures. Now, it's a team effort to get daily tasks done. They both love life outdoors, being one with nature from the moment they awake til they sleep. At the end of far more exhausting days than the average person is used to living... They simply love each other and their new* furry additions to their family. I was intrigued back 2 & 1/2 to 3 years ago, and still am amazed at how they choose to live. So I had her as a "featured guest" for a 2nd Episode on my Podcast! That's twice now! She never ceases to amaze me, that's for sure!Simply because living outdoors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, eating, showering, living day-to-day life, and taking care of 2 beautiful animals, is not an easy task. So yes! I had to allow her to give us an "UPDATE" on everything happening in her & Daniel's lives in 2025! Not to mention their 2 animals: "Kit" the cat & "Bella" the Husky dog.Adrienne has her own podcast & merchandise also! Learn all about it by listening to this* update episode! Enjoy this "Part 2" Episode as I ask many questions, as Adrienne was anxious to update us on her new, different lifestyle today! We also casually spoke & laughed a whole lot! What a fun episode!
