Sophia has one of the best laughs I have ever the pleasure of hearing. Its joyful, infectious - like a beam of sunshine on a cloudy day. A likeminded young human - chatting with her always moves in a kaleidoscope of topics - never more evident than in this conversation I happened to capture the other week. This episode also features my in house lamb, Michael - always a delight!
SEASON ONE, EPISODE 2: DON'T BE A CXNT I met Stephanie maybe 7 or more years ago through mutual friends and we instantly clicked. A shared love of piercings/tattoos/music - pretty much all things alternative - it didn't take long for us to become great friends. A true purveyor of forthrightness - one of her many wonderful qualities, I asked her to have a chat with me about her adventures in Japan - but it evolved into something deeper. Find me on insta: @auntylari
SEASON 2, EPISODE 4: she is an antihero, she is me. I am obsessed with villain vibes so all you're getting is chaotic brain drains about nothing really in particular except how on some level I want to be bad but I also want to be understood and how all that manifests into a giant mess in my brain. I'm not even sorry about it this time. It is what it is.
This podcast episode is all about my passion for exploring and my journey towards fulfilling her dream. There's some motivational speak in here, so if you're feeling unfulfilled or restless, take a cue from me and explore the world around you. You never know what you might discover or where it might lead you.

SEASON THREE, EPISODE TEN: its just a recap on everything else we talked about this season - thanks for tuning in for the dopamine season, catch you in season 4!
From discussing the history of true crime and the Newgate Calendar to the role of dopamine in our obsession with serial killers, this podcast has been quite a ride. We've explored the dark side of human nature and the impact of extreme content on our desensitization to violence. But don't worry, we've also found plenty of things to be grateful for, like our ability to take breaks and consume content in moderation. So, the next time you're feeling down about society's fascination with true crime, just remember to laugh a little and appreciate the lighter side of life.
When it comes to addiction, dopamine is the ultimate enabler. It's like that friend who always convinces you to stay out for one more cocktail, even when you know you should go home because you have work in 4 hours. It's the voice in your head that tells you, "just one more hit, what could go wrong?" But fear not, my friends, for there is hope for those who struggle with ADHD and addiction. With the right treatment, support, and healthy habits, we can learn to channel our dopamine-seeking behaviour in a positive way. Let's talk about the wild, chaotic, and sometimes frustrating world of dopamine and its role in our lives. It may not always be easy, but it sure is one heck of a ride.
Mythology is like a wild ride for your brain's dopamine levels. It's like the ancient Greeks wanted to push the limits of believability by creating stories about gods and heroes with superhuman feats. But beyond the absurdity and drama, these tales offer a glimpse into the human condition, showing us how we can overcome challenges with our own strength and the help of our friends. So, if you're looking for a dopamine boost and a bit of escapism, dive into the world of mythology. Just be prepared for lightning bolts and sea monsters along the way.
SEASON 2, EPISODE 10! A CREATIVE COMPLEX. The final episode for 2022, how exciting! Season Two has come to an end on this wild journey that has been 2022. So as we look forward to 2023, let's go on a journey of creative fluency and how we can continue the theme of attempting to mind hack ourselves into a new year. Happy New Year, fam!
SEASON 2, EPISODE 9! What does cheese say to its reflection? Halloumi! This episode is all about self reflection. As we wind down to the pointy end of 2022, I wanted to take a breath and just shoot the shxt for a bit, talk about what we've learnt this year and it went a little deeper than expected, but that's not entirely heinous. Also, I caught and trapped a spider mid-episode AND saw a random cat. That's a win in my books. Have a lovely week! #spotifypodcast #podcast #auntylari #qualiteatime #reflection #selfreflection #halloumi #chinomorenothespider
SEASON 2, EPISODE 8! #divinecommands #toiletdemands Look, I wish I felt like I had something intelligent to say but I really don't. All you need to know is we're doing a light touch of ethics theory followed by another unhinged recap of a Korean mythological tale involving a toilet ghost. She slayyyyys(ish). #podcast #spotifypodcast #auntylari #AMA #qualiteatime #toiletghostshoutout
SEASON 2, EPISODE 7! #imanalbatraoz It's a completely unhinged short episode about a dog named Wags who pretty much saved an island from annihilation that evolved into a weird retelling of how if you kill an albatross you might end up killing your pirate mates or something like that. Anyway, sorry not sorry - it be like that sometimes. The main point is that I managed to upload two episodes in November and that's already a wild achievement for someone like me. She slayyyyys(ish). #podcast #spotifypodcast #auntylari #albatross #pirates #dontkillem #stillthinkingaboutsadhorselowkey #AMA #qualiteatime
SEASON 2, EPISODE 6! #cheatermccheaterson She's finally back after battling the virus and online screaming about cheating things. Mostly about how I have been the Other Woman but also about other types of cheating and you know stuff about a sad horse that's been cheated on multiple times. But also sending big love to those who have been subjected to infidelity. Have a gander if you so wish!
SEASON TWO, EPISODE THREE - bonus content featuring me, Aunty Lari and my pal Rory as we explore the bars of Adelaide and chit chat about life and stuff and things.
SEASON 2, EPISODE 2: What happens to the soul after death? Dunno, really, but I'm sharing some spooky real life stories and talking about my favourite version of the afterlife. Hello, Ancient Egypt - sign me up.
HELLO, is it tea you're looking for? Because I have some tea, not gonna lie it might be lukewarm tea, it might be some English Breakfast vibes with sugar and milk - but tea is tea and I am here to serve some form of realness. Mostly talking smack today, its a post-date recap on a dude from the internet, some carrot dangling tea speculation from my ex and probably the spiciest reveal of my current IRL affections for a person who will never love me back and why do I even bother wasting my energy on it when it will never eventuate kinda spiral. Also, I went off on a tangent about Aztec Astrology. HMU on insta @auntylari
EP10: it's me, anonymous. look, at any point if it ever seems like I have a vague idea that I know what I'm doing please know, I do not. When I'm struggling to rub my two brain cells together I'm doing other dumb stuff like posting anonymous links for people to ask/confess things. So this episode is that. Enjoy, I guess?
ADHD hyperfocus activated and engaged. The target = Agrippina the Younger, aka boss Empress of Rome. Chaotic me strikes again, two episodes in one week, WHO IS SHE?! This time I used my ADHD for good and spent a dumb amount of time reading about ultimate girlboss Agrippina the Younger and attempt to give y'all the tea of his lady's almost endless power moves. Factual? Kind of, interesting? Definitely, to me at least. Uploading tonight! Plus chaotic hinge update on Abercrombie!
SEASON THREE EPISODE SIX - THE DOPAMINE DILEMMA In this hilarious episode, the author continues her quest to hack her brain's reward system for optimal pleasure and productivity. She's spiralling into a panic over an endless to-do list and doubts if the hustle is worth it. The solution? Take a break, go to the beach and soak up some sun, sand and surf, and get a natural smack of dopamine straight to the brain. She ponders the cultural obsession with productivity and hustle culture, which tells us we should grind 24/7 toward success and do everything perfectly, but is unsustainable and unrealistic. The author finds that balance and being kind to herself are the keys to success. Stress for her is like an annoying neighbour who keeps knocking when she's trying to watch Netflix. It's unwelcome, persistent and wreaks havoc on her. But she's a compartmentalist and has curated an art form of shoving all her emotions into little boxes, playing emotional Tetris, except the blocks are made of anxiety, sadness, and occasional bursts of unbridled rage.
Today, I'm discussing the downside of dopamine. What kind of stuff drains our dopamine levels? There might also be some tips for maintaining healthy dopamine levels.
SEASON THREE EPISODE FOUR: do it for the dopamine Fam, this is a quick check in sesh for those of us who need it on their much needed goal setting journeys in 2023. So here's the recap, no tea, just straight facts while I try to work on a novel? Who even am I? Happy Sunday! Let's have a great week!
SEASON THREE, EPISODE THREE: digital dopamine If blockchain technology existed in the magical wizarding world of Mr Harry J Potter, y'all know they could have linked them pensieves up on some next level shit. This episode is full ADHD chaos, I won't lie - but also its helping me refine my goals for 2023 in a weird way and use you guys as a sounding board for my next career move. Cute shit. Right?
SEASON THREE, EPISODE TWO: the dopamine cash machine. Not quite rhyming but definitely assonance, right? Anyway, we're just over here reflecting on week one of our journey towards 2024. Nothing special. Who knew practicing mindfulness could be this challenging?
SEASON THREE EPISODE ONE! We're beginning a new journey together. Starting with embracing a lifestyle change. New year, new vibe. All the new things. We're hunting for dopamine.
