About M2 THE ROCK - MICHAEL MOLTHAN:I'm Michael Molthan, host of The M2 The Rock Show—one of the fastest-growing podcasts and shows on self-improvement, mental health, addiction recovery, and spiritual transformation. I'm so grateful you're here.I started M2 The Rock in 2017 to bring you conversations designed to make you happier, healthier, and more healed. Through raw and unfiltered discussions with experts, celebrities, thought leaders, and athletes, we uncover new perspectives on personal growth, recovery, and overcoming life's toughest challenges. My Story:What sets my journey apart is that there wasn't just one rock bottom—there were many. From being a successful luxury homebuilder to falling into addiction, homelessness, crime, and eventually 27 mugshots and prison, my life was in absolute chaos.Addiction was my temporary escape from childhood trauma, but it only led to destruction. It wasn't until I hit the lowest point imaginable that I finally found true freedom, redemption, and purpose. After an unexpected early release from prison in 2017, I walked 300 miles back to Dallas to turn myself in—only to be miraculously pardoned and told to “pay it forward.”And that's exactly what I've been doing ever since. My MissionI believe that rock bottom is not the end—it's a stepping stone to something greater. My goal is to redefine what "rock bottom" means by helping others rebuild their Spirit, Mind, and Body. On M2 The Rock, I speak openly about trauma, addiction, recovery, and the power of transformation. I don't shy away from topics like:✅ Trauma & Addiction – Understanding the root causes✅ Self-Sabotage & Mental Health – Breaking negative cycles✅ Codependency & Enabling – How relationships impact recovery✅ 12-Step Programs & Spiritual Healing – Finding true freedom✅ Religious Trauma & Personal Growth – Healing from past wounds"Everyone Is An Addict."Whether it's substances, work, validation, or negative thinking, we all have something we struggle with. But recovery is possible, and transformation is real.

In this episode of the Practical Spirituality Podcast, Gareth and Kim dive into the often misunderstood concept of living in the present. They challenge the idea that being present requires detaching from, or ignoring, all thought of the past and future. Instead, they redefine being present as an active practice of connecting with the mind, body, emotions, and soul, rather than simply avoiding distraction. The hosts explore how unresolved emotional wounds can disrupt peace in the present, shaping coping mechanisms that lead to daily unease. By reframing the mind as an ally, they encourage listeners to build a compassionate relationship with their thoughts, trace their roots, and ease anxiety about the future. By exploring within, we can foster self-acceptance and, over time, develop a more harmonious inner life. They also bridge science and spirituality, highlighting the neurobiology of addiction and how it influences our experience of being in the present moment. This perspective shows how thoughts and emotions can become tools for growth rather than barriers to growth. With a focus on compassion, intentional practice, and supportive resources, Gareth and Kim offer practical guidance for transforming struggle into healing and fulfillment, paving the way for a more peaceful, balanced life.Become a Community Member at https://community.garethmichael.com/ to join our community and get early access to new episodes, answers to your personal questions and so much more.Have a question to ask Gareth & Kim? Many women find it challenging to stay present. As meditation and mindfulness become mainstream, we often hear phrases like "live in the now" or "we only have the present moment." However, for women balancing children, home, work, and community demands, staying present can seem nearly impossible.   What does it mean to be present? For Whitney, it's about fully showing up to the moment without distraction or mental time-traveling. Cultural norms often pressure women to be master jugglers and multitasking queens, leaving us feeling frazzled, cranky, and dissatisfied with our lives.   In this episode, Whitney explores how overscheduling impacts our ability to be present and introduces “segment intending” – a practice of pausing between tasks and setting clear intentions for the next activity.   Whitney also emphasizes the importance of creating a buffer and setting personal boundaries to avoid a constant state of rushing and distraction.   Here's what you can look forward to in today's episode: The challenges of living in the present moment as a modern-day woman Practical tips to avoid overscheduling Segment intending – a practice that encourages you to pause and mentally close out of one activity before moving to the next Reflection question to ponder – Who gets to experience the best version of me when my schedule is full?   The waitlist for Season to Shift, Whitney's signature, six-week mastermind for moms, is open! In this insightful episode of Shark Theory, Baylor Barbee delves into the concept of optimism, examining both its benefits and its potential pitfalls. Titled "The Optimism Trap," Barbee dissects the importance of living in the present and embracing the moment, while not falling prey to the allure of a perpetually brighter tomorrow. He candidly shares his personal struggles with projecting positivity and the realizations that come from understanding the nuances of genuine optimism. The podcast kicks off with a striking revelation—being a serial optimist isn't always synonymous with internal happiness. Barbee stresses the importance of planning for the future without losing oneself in it. He uses the analogy of past relationships to emphasize the need for concrete goals and dates and introduces the concept of having a motive behind every action, encouraging listeners to live a purposeful life. These reflections are deeply rooted in self-improvement, mindfulness, and action-oriented strategies, making them SEO-rich and affirming for anyone seeking personal growth. Barbee concludes the episode with a powerful message on how staying present and motive-driven can circumvent the disappointment of dreams that are never paired with action. His narrative is compelling and relatable, underscoring the idea that hope without strategy and action can lead to feelings of failure. By focusing on real-time actions, he suggests we can ward off the "tomorrow trap" and find ourselves exactly where we wish to be. Key Takeaways: The double-edged sword of optimism: understanding how it can mask underlying pain or uncertainty. The significance of living in the present instead of dwelling on the past or an undefined future. The importance of setting specific, dated goals to avoid the "one day" or "later" traps. The role of having a motive for each action, and how this can inject purpose into daily life. The concept that actions taken today are the best indicators of tomorrow's outcome. Notable Quotes: "I always want to see the positive. I always want to find a way to be victorious in whatever the situation is." "The challenge that I'm making to myself this week is, can I just be present in the moment." "Hope is not a strategy. A dream without action eventually is known to other people simply as a nightmare." "If you don't have a definitive end date for what you're trying to accomplish, how can you work backwards and start to make that happen?" "You look up and you realize you're exactly where you want to be based on the actions that you took."
