Teach. Motivate. Inspire. These are the themes that run through my conversations with people who are living their best lives. Guests on “Live Your Best Life with Liz Brunner” are best-selling authors, international executives, public personalities, thought-leaders, health and fitness experts, award-winning chefs and role models who are recreating their lives in interesting, unique ways. They have taken all of their life experiences, the good and the bad, the successes and even the failures, and used that knowledge to not only create their "next chapters," but to inspire others as well. My grandmother was fond of saying, "no knowledge is ever wasted." It's so true. I have personally used all of my “knowledge” to "recreate" myself several times from High School music teacher, to working in retail, to a 28-year award-winning TV career, and now to entrepreneur. I call it "recreation" because to me it's about "connecting the dots" of all of our life experiences and skills, and using them to create our next chapter and to live our best, most authentic life. My guests are recreating their lives in interesting, unique ways. As an executive communications coach and motivational speaker, I not only work with Fortune 500 and C-suite executives on their communication/presentation skills, but I also help them learn the tools they need to become their best authentic selves and live their best lives. Some people do not know how to process that and step back into the miracle mentality.”Tim believes that by reconnecting with our childhood imagination, we can tap into the miracle mentality, which allows us to see life's possibilities in a new, transformative light and get our magic back. Today, instead of building basketball players, he's building leaders by sharing high performance leadership lessons from the hearts and minds of the NBA's elite players. “...The present moment is the only thing that actually exists. It's the only place where we have the ability to take action in order to influence our future, to influence an outcome…I'm using the word ‘influence' and not ‘control'…there's this mental place where we have to be able to be fully in the moment to do the work, and at the same time be completely detached from the outcomes.”To learn more of the new rules for the future of leadership from Mike's book, his coaching and keynotes, go to mindshiftlabs.com.Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Mindset is everything! That is the truth Michael Anthony lives by. He's seen both the best and worst of life having suffered through some of the most harsh and vicious child abuse. Michael was homeless by age 10, a drug addict at 12, and by the age of 19, an alcoholic and morbidly obese. He says he spent his whole life in constant fear and chaos. Today, Michael is a trauma survivor, a trauma warrior and trauma mentor who is helping others break free from their brokenness.“This wasn't on my to do list. I wasn't going to be the guy who talks about kids getting beat up by parents who are unhealed. But it's necessary. Is this my parents' path? Is this my imposter syndrome? Is this a lack of confidence to just go out and do something special?' And I remember I looked at Lafi, I said, ‘Hey, man, thanks for the compliment. But you know, I don't think I can go home and say that to my parents.' Today he's taking all of those experiences and helping others discover how not only to live their best life, but to do it at peak performance. “...It's amazing how many dots connect in this...at least in my experience, when businesses repeat mistakes, when they become complacent, when they stop focusing on growing their people, they may not lose their lives, but you can certainly lose your way of life. We know businesses go away, we know people lose their jobs, sell their homes, move someplace else. Being human is tricky because we all want to feel loved, to feel like we matter. And yet we're looking in all the wrong places. Matt Emerzian speaks from his own personal experience. He had a dream job in the music industry, working with some of the biggest stars like U-2, Usher, and Avril Lavigne. But it all came crashing down after a complete mental breakdown and in that brokenness, he discovered that none of that mattered. Today, he's helping millions of people discover how much they matter. “...Everything just seemed to work. Until I realized that there was a whole lot more to life that I had never experienced. It caught me off guard, it rocked my world...” Matt has created a modern methodology to help organizations build engaged cultures, drive purposeful impact, and succeed at every level and he's sharing it at matthewemerzian.com Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Nina Sossamon-Pogue is known as an expert on resilience and with good reason. She has enjoyed success at some of the highest levels of sports, television, news and corporate America, and at the same time, endured failures, traumas, including a devastating car accident that put her at the center of a major news story. Through it all, she developed resilience and a framework to not only help herself, but others as well, to move more easily through whatever their “this” tragic moment is. “...The words I was using in my head were so, so important, because what happens in your head, comes out of your mouth and becomes your story. For more than 20 years, Bridgett Burrick Brown was a sought after model living in Paris, Miami and all around the world. And yet, she struggled with her own body image, yo-yo dieting, often told to lose weight, (even at a size four). Determined to redefine what beauty meant for herself, she walked away from the modeling world and started a movement to change the narrative of what it means to be beautiful from the inside out. “I went on this journey of watching girls struggle severely with eating disorders, and I struggled with my own. I struggled with all of my self worth tied into what I looked like. And you can get lost in that really easily because nothing else is celebrated about you.” Bridgett is ready to empower others to discover what beauty means to them at beyondbeautyproject.com Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. It may have taken Donna Martin 30 years to make the huge decision to leave her corporate job as a chemist and follow her passion, but she did it. In her words, she went from working the dream to living the dream as the owner of the Mill River Winery. “Winemaking is a combination of wine, science, and love to make good wine...As you go through your life…your priorities kind of change and my career…the love of chemistry and the science that I had, [I] really took a step back…I had to look at my life balance…But in that time, I was able to navigate a way that I could pursue…a second career that included my passion…” You can meet Donna and her dream, Mill River Winery, at millriverwines.com Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. We've all heard the phrase laughter is the best medicine, and Amy Lyle would no doubt agree. She's a former recruiter from one of the largest staffing firms in the world but chose to follow her passions, and is now an author, stand up comedian, actor, TEDx speaker and a screenwriter. “...never thought about being a stand up comic necessarily but I was, you know, popular at dinner parties…What I found is vulnerability, and kind of sharing a little bit, not too much, just sharing a little bit of your failures or your hurts with other people, draws people to you.” You can learn more about Amy and her multi-hyphenate next chapters, at amylyle.me Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Meghan McFerran followed her dream to New York City and into the world of being a professional dancer. A world filled with hustle and grind of audition after audition. She finally landed her dream job, only to discover that it brought with it so many confidence and body issues that she knew she had to make a change. And she did. Today she's an entrepreneur and dance fitness trainer with her own classes and fitness app called, “Glisten”. “I wanted to create a feeling where everyone could stand in their unique spotlight, not one girl gets the part, but we all get the part. And we all have an opportunity to shine. And I knew that only I could create a community where everyone can come together where the show doesn't wrap…” You can learn more about Meghan, her podcast show, Glisten app (and community) and more about her journey at www.meghanmcferran.com Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Monisha Patel left her job in software sales and turned her side hustle into a thriving business. The hustle? Custom charcuterie arrangements, workshops and catering. “I have had a lot of ideas that I have been too scared to attempt, too scared to start…There was always some reason not to do it. And this started so organically and so slowly and it grew into what it is today. So there were no more excuses. It already happened. It happened while I wasn't really paying attention, so it really helped move things along…” You can learn more about Monisha, and Boards By Mo, at boardsbymo.com Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Think back to a time when you felt you were at your best, on top of the world. What if you could feel that way over and over and over again. Eric Boles says it is possible. He's a former wide receiver in the NFL who had natural talent and ability. But between injuries and what he says were his own mental roadblocks he got dismissed and became a janitor to make ends meet. Through his experiences, he learned how to unleash his own power within and today he's an international leadership consultant and keynote speaker. “I did not understand, at the time, the psychology beyond those things. I didn't know there was a way to rebuild and restore and reframe how I looked at myself and looked at the world...” You can learn more about Eric, his book “Moving to Great: Unleashing Your Best in Life and Work” and more at thegamechangersinc.com Be the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
