If you feel like giving up because the journey is hard, remember: you're not stuck—you're being shaped. In this empowering episode, Brendon Burchard shares how the power of never giving up isn't just about grit—it's about having clear aim, the resolve to evolve, and the mental toughness to honor the struggle. When things go sideways, most people quit. But those who win in life are the ones who shift, pivot, adapt—and still press on. You'll discover: Why Strong resolve + clear outcomes are the foundation of your perseverance. How to shit, not shut down - pivoting isn't quitting, it's strategy. How amplifying your (and owning your weaknesses) leads to momentum and mastery. _____________________________________ If you're ready to stop flirting with defeat and start leaning fully into your power, this episode is your mindset reset. This week, your faves return with another reflective and norm-poking conversation. But first, we start off (2:27) the show in an unusual, subtle tone with Kunmi's hit tune "Arike". Yes, guys! Danny is not hollering our brains off today. LOL! Then we quickly catch up on our week, and Naomie is excited (8:12) about the death of her high school teacher, whom she found out passed away this past week. Y'all need to hear this story. She held that grudge even in death! Then we move on to the question of the week (30:08), where Naomie poses the question, what's a saying you've always had a problem with?On the main portion (50:10) of the show, we discuss the societal norm of "Never Giving Up" and always "Chasing Your Goals" till the end. We critique the age-old idea, questioning when it is okay to let go of a dream (1:03:51) when it's not working, learning the difference between quitting and pivoting, and maybe coming to the harsh terms (1:31:44) of perhaps you're just not good enough. Of course, you know we both had some parallels and stories on this subject. In Running Through the Dark, Jen talks about her ambitions, not just to run the 268-mile Pennine Way but to take the record as the fastest woman to do so. But that didn't happen. Nothing went according to plan.   The Jen the world knew was a successful lawyer and running coach – all photoshoots and finish-line smiles – but the truth was much darker. The real Jen Scotney, the one she hid from everybody, suffered with chronic fatigue, debilitating injuries, tragedy, grief and at times had a will so beaten down by setbacks that there just didn't seem any point in going on. But she did go on. Running Through the Dark is Jen's account of her ultra-journey. Playing out on the moors of the Pennines, the fells of the Lake District and the mountains of Wales and Scotland, this is much more than a running book, it is a story about resilience, about never giving up, and about battling through the night and always believing that there will be a new dawn.

Have you ever had a goal that seemed so ambitious that you weren't sure it was achievable? When our minds conceive a dream, we typically try to determine whether it is possible before taking steps to pursue it. However, this may lead to prematurely letting go of dreams that not only make you feel alive and inspired, but that also may in fact be possible with sufficient courage, clarity, and determination.  As a pioneering, combat-proven leader, inspiring speaker, and celebrated author, Colonel Martha McSally is a compelling example of overcoming adversity and fear to achieve extraordinary feats, including becoming the first woman in U.S. history to fly an Air Force fighter jet and command a fighter squadron in combat. Martha deployed six times to the Middle East and Afghanistan, flying 325 combat hours in the A-10 attack plane, for which she earned the Bronze Star and six Air Medals. Her book, “Dare to Fly: Simple Lessons in Never Giving Up,” inspires readers to follow their hearts and live the lives they were meant to live, fully aligned with their divine essence. In Episode 213 of The Mindset Game® podcast, Martha shares incredible stories from her life experiences, as well as the following insights: The importance of getting clear on the vision you have for your future self, embodying it in the present, and taking inspired action toward that vision, rather than getting stuck on how you will achieve it Specific tips for connecting with the true essence of who you are, which can help you identify expansive opportunities that align with your higher calling How to differentiate between the types of goals will enable you to truly expand and grow, versus those that may be rooted in less empowering motivations To learn more about Martha McSally and to sign up for her email list, visit https://marthamcsally.com.  To learn more about The Mindset Game podcast, visit www.TheMindsetGame.com. Nikole's delivery for her daughter Chloe was... less than ideal for quite a few reasons.  Nikole's health was in jeopardy, Chloe was delivered nearly two months early, and according to one especially rude NICU doctor, Chloe “looked funny.” This difficult experience reached a crescendo when Nikole was given the news of Chloe's rare diagnosis, Wolf Hirschhorn syndrome—which included some inaccurate information about the disease (like an inaccurate life span.) But despite this traumatic start, Nikole and her family have learned to adjust, adapt, and help Chloe to thrive in the years since. In this episode, Nikole is sharing how she and her family created a team of medical staff they could trust despite some past bad experiences, how they celebrate each and every milestone for Chloe, and how they keep moving forward, as they are determined to never, ever give up on their daughter. In this episode, Martha shares her journey of overcoming trauma and adversity by rising above all of her fears, facing them head on, and proving the Air Force wrong. When she was told no she couldn't be a fighter pilot because she was a woman, that ignited a fire in her belly to make it happen. “...They told me, ‘You can't do this because you're a girl, and it is against the law.' I never had been told that in my life….It was like, ‘Nope, I am a fighter pilot and I am going to will this into existence'…I kept the dream in my heart…I wouldn't take ‘No' for an answer. With May being Mental Health Awareness month, The Pivot has had several guests focus on emotional wellbeing from Michael Beasley to Ryan Mundy to Solomon Thomas and more as Mental health remains stigmatized in sports today, but more and more athletes are beginning to break the silence surrounding it and change cultural perception. In 2018, one NBA star released an emotion-filled tweet that created waves throughout the league, generating awareness of vulnerability while garnering support as the message and impact was felt far beyond the game. Ryan, Channing and Fred sit down with six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan to talk about his mental health advocacy as well as his journey to the league. The 15-year veteran shares stories from his upbringing in Compton, California and reflects on defining moments from his career. DeMar mentions the influence of figures like Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle in his life and talks about how he is driven to inspire the next generation as well and what kept him from giving up during the darkest times. The guys ask about his trade from the Raptors to the Spurs and he reflects on the difficulty of the move, his legacy after spending 9 years in Toronto and how he handled his father's passing while the NBA pressures continued to build. Many people consider him an NBA star and an all-time clutch player, but DeMar talks about the importance of sharing real stories and being seen as a human being, which he hopes to spotlight in his upcoming book Above the Noise. DeMar touches on how a difficult environment growing up eventually caught up to him many years later by never coping with loss and how people always tend to believe ultimate highs don't come with ultimate lows. He speaks the truth about the place he comes from, and opens up to Ryan, Channing and Fred on mistruths and misconceptions sharing how Money and fame don't measure happiness but it's through experiences that strength is built and understanding is developed. Never giving up and always wanting to be a light of hope for his family, especially his children, DeMar continues to prove people wrong with his efforts off the court and teaching through conversation. Only 4 teams left in the NBA postseason as the Eastern and Western Conference Finals jump off today.
